Switch Witch Q&A Fall 2011, PART I.

I really don't know if I have a favorite word but if I did have a favorite, it would be "silly."   What are the feelings on arm warmers? Color, style, texture, length? Not a huge fan because I usually have my arms covered anyway!   Do you like tarts? tealights? jar candles? votives? I like jar candles because for me they are the easiest to use.   What's your favorite flavor? Sour, sweet, bitter, salty? Sweet and spicy or just sweet!   So, are there any online gaming witchees who covet purchasable in-game items or other gamer-y stuff? Not like, polished colorful stones.. but like... rocks. With geologic significance! That sounds pretty nifty actually.   If your witch were to knit you a scarf/shawl/cowl, which would you prefer, and what features would you want? Would you prefer something light and drape-y or thick and warm? What kind of colors would you prefer? Do you have any fiber allergies or preferences? Shawl or cowl. Both on the larger scale of things while being thick and warm. I love the colors red, grey, periwinkle blue, yellow, mint green, peach, and green. But really I love bright colors the best, clear jewel tones!   If you have a pet, could you please post a photo of it? I really need to see what your pet, if you have one, looks like. Posted on the SW thread, just type in "Evelina" to search for her!   Do you like/own/wear/want fairy wings or something of the like? No I don't!   How do you feel about terrariums? They're really awesome!   What's your favorite horror movie? Horror movies scare me...   If your witch was the practical type and wanted to include one or more of your everyday essentials, what would those include? I'm talking about the bath products, lotions, face lotions, teas, food, etc that you really use every day. I use Tetley's British Blend tea all the time and am a huge fan of arcana soaps.   Jane Austen .. Yay or Nay? YAY, SO MUCH YAY.   I put up quotes I love in my office and studio to get me going, They range from goofy to sarcastic to inspirational... Are you interested in a hand painted quote? Do you have one in mind, or a topic in mind? That would be pretty great actually.   Do you like period or period-styled paraphernalia? Stuff like postcards, notecards, jewelry, office supplies, what-have-you? Nothing really specific.   If you like manga, comics, and/or graphic novels, what is it about them that you like, in general? The story, the art/style, etc? I love graphic novels, especially how they are illustrated. For example, the illustrations on Heroes are SO AMAZING. The ones in the TV show done by the people who can see the future. I crave that kind of BOLD colorful illustration.   If you could choose a Smack, what would it have in it? Smack?   if you could have a salon scent made, based on any artwork(s) what would it be? Really good question.. I'll get back to you on this one but perhaps one of Zaha Hadid's work?   Are you scientifically curious and/or process-oriented? Would you like a project-type gift that allowed you do do something like make soap from scratch, take and (nontoxic-ly) develop photographs using a pinhole camera, use plant dyes on yarn or fabric, etc.? Hmmmm. That would be cool but I don't know if I have time for that.   What's 'your' song/your theme song?   What would be your superpower? Teleportation. OMG Teleportation!   Witchee, would you like a gently used BPAL tshirt? That would be a-ok.   Do you like homemade snack mixes? I know Puppy Chow was mentioned in a previous question, but what about healthier and more natural type snacks like granola or trail mix? You can put a lot of delicious and fun things into trail mix, yeah? If you say "Sure, I'd love some!" what kinds of things do you like/not like in those kinds of snacks, ie coconut flakes, raisins, certain nuts (allergies??), candy, etc. Give us your list of DO's and DON'Ts! Trail mix sounds cool. I love nuts and fried fruits (just not dried apples or bananas). Raisins are iffy.   Do you like charm bracelets? If you had a bracelet, what sort of charms would you want on it? Favorite hobbies, symbols, whatever? I have a charm bracelet! My bracelet is silver but I honestly do not care when it comes to the particular metal color of a charm because I like things to be eclectic and have character. The charms I have on it currently include a gondola (always reminds me of that one Sailor Moon movie and Italy), a painter's palette, and a sewing machine! Some charms I would love include a polaroid camera because I enjoy photography, something architecture based or crochet based (yarn would be so cute!), I also love sailor moon transformation wand charms at this etsy store http://www.etsy.com/...shin-wand-charm (I adore that Sailor Mini Moon key necklace too! and my favorite sailor scout would have to be Sailor Venus), also anything that has to do with my interests like writing and reading (book charm?! I love Jane Austen!) and music would be awesome!   September 20th   Would you like any ecotools makeup brushes? They're kinda one of my favorite things ever, and they're animal-friendly and the handles are bamboo. And to top it all off, they work really well for applying makeup. I really love ecotools, but I have quite a few make up brushes and am not in need of more!   Do you like Legos? Especially mini-fig key chains, Lego block keychains, small Lego sets, etc? I loved legos as a kid, but nowadays Architecture keeps me pretty busy with building things so yea   Since the previous question about "what would you buy from the Lab if you had unlimited funds, etc" left WAY too much to the imagination with no limitations (my answer was pretty much BUY ALL THE THINGS!), what would you do if you found a $50 bill on the ground and a nagging voice in the back of your mind told you that you HAD to spend it on BPAL or else face Death. Also, say they had free shipping (LOL) so don't factor that in. What would you get? And spend it all! Or as close to $50 as you can get. Bottle of Florence and a bottle of No. 93 Engine, imps of Lyonesse, Kubla Khan, and The Obsidian Widow.   Are there any characters that you love or identify with? I've always felt myself identify with Sam from Garden State along with Amelie from Amelie. They are quirky, off beat, kind of confused and emotional girls that are just trying to live their life.   A question! If you are crafty, what's your personal art style? I'm not talking just about what art you like to look at, but what kind of art do you like creating? Do you have a "process" while you're creating beauty? I really enjoy ink drawings with a kind of sketchy and somewhat detail oriented look to them. I like delicate stuff. Also I am on DeviantArt as Ciaobonefish and you can see a TON of things I have favorited and even some artwork of my own. I love sketching quick portraits of people and always have a little sketchbook with me wherever I go. I also like drawing anime and have meddled with copic markers with some great results. Watercolors are fun but can be time consuming and lately I have been REALLY into crocheting and sewing.   Are there any Arcana Weenies that you MUST HAVE? Nothing I HAVE to have but Ghost Pumpkin, Sleepy Hollow, Straightjacket, and Dancing in the Boneyard all sound pretty interesting and promising. I generally Love Arcana.   So what say you? IS an "unexpected" visit/in-person witching OK? Hmmmm. Sure it is ok! Very unexpected and I'm always out of my dorm and around campus so I don't know if we would ever meet!   September 19th   What strange misc. items would you love to receive that you just haven't gotten for yourself?: Steampunk-esque spikes from Etsy (to spruce up some leather penny loafers) is all I can think of currently....   How do you feel about franken polish? Are you okay with all chemicals, or would you prefer 3 free? Would you want glitter or holographic glitter? What colors would interest you? Frankenpolishes are cool but I don't wear nailpolish a lot so I wouldn't worry about that.   Dear witchee, how do you feel about lip balm? Favorite style (twist up tube, pot, tube with wand, etc.)? Favorite flavors? Flavors to avoid? Favorite brand? Do you need more right now or are you set? Are you one of those people who could never have enough lip balm even though you have a bowl on your dresser overflowing with them and 10 in your purse and an order for more on the way? I love rose salve! Above anything I am a huge fan of C.O. Bigelow's Rose Salve (the original that is JUST rose salve and no mint or anything like that). Those round Eos lip balms are pretty great too.   Would you be interested in getting fountain pen inks or art supplies via JetPens and or DickBlick? (I know I have a wishlist on JetPens and just love using fountain pens in my artwork) Fa sho. I LOVE inks, pens, fountain pens etc. WRITING UTENSILS ARE TOTAL LOVE. No need to buy new watercolors for me!   How do you feel about getting art supplies in general? (copic markers, watercolor, brushes, paint, sketchbooks etc.) I'm good with supplies at the moment like brushes and paint and markers so I wouldn't want you buying anything like that, but I am always rather fond of sketchbooks because I go through them quickly!   How do you feel about Threadless tshirts? LOVE THEM. My favorites include: Wear your own Park, The Messenger, Celestial Cat, Squinjas!, Space and Time etc.   If you were turned loose in a basic drug store (CVS, Walgreens - a pharmacy with attached mini-mart, basically!) with a $20 bill, what would you pick up? Hmmm. That is a good question... Probably lipbalm (Eos), mascara, lipstick, and a magazine.   Darling Witchee, would you enjoy farmer's market pickled veggies (green beans, garlic, asparagus, etc) or fresh canned peaches or something of that nature? Are there particular things you like on them? Would you like one designed by your Witch? And, if you don't mind saying, what size t-shirt do you wear? I love Threadless shirts in general and have mentioned threadless shirts somewhere on here. I also love the Tarot BPAL shirts. One designed by my witch would be cool! I wear a small in unisex sizes (unless it is an American Apparel shirt which would be a medium) and any kind of girly fit shirt I prefer a large. I prefer unisex shirts overall though.   How do you feel about pumpkin scented things? Not perfume related, but soap, candles, etc.... Awesome!   Has anyone else heard of or does anyone else love Glamourkin? Not heard of it.   If you had an international witch, is there anything you would like from the UK? (Also, if you live in a warm place, where the fudge might melt, that'd be helpful to know. Or, if you're diabetic and fudge is death, that'd be useful to know, too.) It is too hot for fudge etc. in my little southern mailbox, especially because I have a university PO box.   Also, what about mochi? Love it, hate it, baffled by it? Personalized bottlecaps seem pretty cool.   When you're miserably sick (*sniffle, cough!*) what are the things that comfort you the most? Soup, hot milk and honey, tea, sleep, romantic movies.   What constitutes ultimate luxury to you? (go crazy!) Ultimate luxury... will get back to you on this..   What do you really NOT want? Not a huge food person unless it is sweets or candy and may be even those cool ingredient containers with recipes included. Crazy amounts of jewelry. I have a very specific aesthetic when it comes to jewelry and want to stick to that. And um well yea!   September 13th   How would you feel about kitchen towels and other similar household objects, if they are pretty or a souvenir? Kitchen towels and things won't be quite as useful to me especially because I am living at home or in a dorm.   How did you dress up for your last party or compulsory-formal-dress occasion? Most of my party/compulsory formal occasions are gatherings with family and our really close friends which means I typically wear shalwaar kameez, which is the typical Pakistani dress. If I want to dress "fancy" for a different occasion I really adore floaty blouses with cute details (huge sailor collars, ruffled cuffs, awesome patterns, silk, etc.) tucked into skinny black jeans. I also love long sleeve dresses paired with skinny jeans.   September 12th   Would you like to receive e-books? And if so, in what format? Not really a fan of e-books currently because I have yet to find a device to read them with that I adore! I do like audio books though.   If you have kids, would you be interested in getting things for them? And if so, what are they interested and what sizes are the wearing now? No kids here   Would you be interested in a felted handbag? Do any of these styles appeal to you? http://tinyurl.com/3o2epzl (there's at least one guy-friendly style, too!) OMG! 9, 10, and 15 are positively amazing! I especially love #9.   Are there are patterns, motifs, etc that you especially like? I love paisley, crocheted granny squares (random I know), polka dots, stripes, small hearts, and pretty much all kinds of floral. I'm a huge fan of intricate patterns.   Witchee, would you be interested in having a special tea cup/coffee mug/glass to drink out of? I'm cool with that because I tend to collect various tea drinking mugs. Goodness, a cup of tea is never the same in each mug, NEVER.   If you're a tea drinker, is there any specific tea you would like to receive, not just the kind/flavor but also the type/packing--i.e., tea bags, loose tea, compressed, etc? I enjoy strong black teas along with flavorful fruit flavored ones. I typically drink my tea with milk so any kind of tea that tastes lovely with milk is pretty much a good shot with me. Green tea isn't really my thing and neither is Rooibos but I adore Earl Grey. I prefer tea bags or loose teas.   September 11th   I am fond of the thrift. Do you mind lightly used goods? Please be specific! For instance, I'm a little squicked by used clothing, but I don't mind any other used goods (i.e. books, glassware, games, DVDs, whatever.) I tend to thrift rather often but won't thrift things like glassware and cooking utensils etc. Games, books, clothing, bags, accessories, jewelry, things like that are great! I just feel odd about using a mug of glass that has been used goodness knows how many times by someone else.   Do you have an Etsy shop? Do you know of any Etsy shops that are Switch Witch friendly? I have no Etsy shop.   Would a gift or a postcard from Disneyland make you squee with delight or puke into your mail box? If I had to choose it would be "puke," though I doubt I would really puke!   what are your favorite types of Halloween candy? Candy corn, always candy corn. Payday, almond joy, starburst!   Do you prefer soap or shower gel? Please give examples of your favorite scents or brands. I tend to use shower gel most often but have been slowly getting into soaps. My favorite soaps are from Arcana and I have been using Murder Ballad Blues and Bluestocking. I also like Haus of Gloi's soaps but their scents don't always appeal to me. Typically I enjoy clean fresh scents that have complexity to them like a floral or slightly foody element and I enjoy deep fall-esque patchouli filled blends. Samhain, for example, is pretty much my all time favorite scent and I will be stocking up on that soap.   How do you like your chocolate? For example with nuts, mint, peanut butter, caramel? Chocolate with nuts, chocolate with mint, chocolate with anything spicy (I adore that sweet spicy combination), dark chocolate, and white chocolate are the way to go. But you also really can't beat chocolate covered things   Beads! Do you use them? Would you want some? What sorts of beads do you like? Not into beads.   Anyone here like caramels? Sea salted caramels?!?! They're not really my cup of tea!   Would you like a hand dyed or hand painted scarf or wrap or other item? If so, what colors/designs/fabrics do you like? I would love a hand dyed or hand painted scarf! I wear a headscarf every day so YES I love them. I prefer rectangular ones that are flat and not particularly textures with bright colors and patterns. My favorite scarf colors include yellow, yellow-green, orange, red, and blue. Thin fabrics are best because I live in a pretty warm climate.   This was a question before, but does anyone here like stones? Just pretty polished stones for use in whatever purposes? Also I like wearing bow headbands (not the full circle connecting fabric kind if you know what I mean) when I'm just chilling by myself to keep my hair back.   Expanding on the hair question - does anyone like those flower clips for the hair that are big right now?? I do enjoy the flower clips along with the bows that are in provided they are not obnoxiously large. I like to pin/clip them to my headscarves on days when I don't quite feel like wearing a proper wrap scarf.

Not particularly, but I always love socks and fingerless gloves, gloves, mittens, very large cowls, and capes! Winter is my favorite time of the year   I've read something about a Event Exclusive called Pumpkin Hard Candy (if someone knows the details, shout it out because I am still searching). Are you interested in this scent? How desperate are you for it? Not at all desperate. Do not even want it! I try to keep away from things that are too exclusive.   Going back to the question about winter wear, are there any colors you would prefer not to have? Hmmmm. Well. I love a LOT of colors and honestly if you are curious just check out my Pinterest for color schemes I love (probably under the What I Would Wear board) but some combinations that I don't really love would be more watery cool kind of combinations? Do you like bold bright prints with fun things, or monochrome, solid colours? Crossbody strap always. I like leather and cloth. If it is cloth I prefer bold patterns with few colors (like red, yellow, and cream together or red, grey and cream etc.) If it is leather I prefer brown leathers. Something like bold stripes or large bold geometric prints are really cool.
