Halloween 2015 SW Q & A

Wishlist help! BPAL: http://www.bpal.org/topic/127-wishlist/page__st__1900__p__1566904?do=findComment&comment=1566904 AMAZON: http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/1OASHS9ZEEHNF/ref=cm_sw_su_w ETSY: http://www.etsy.com/people/effluere/favorites THINKGEEK: search my name and email address as listed in the questionnaire. I have one!   Pumpkin? I am not a fan of the pumpkin in scents, I'm sorry to say. I like things like pumpkin muffins and cookies, etc, but only very rarely like it in perfumes. Marshmallow Pumpkin and White Pumpkin Extrait are the only two perfumes that come to mind that I've liked that have pumpkin in it. I'm ambivalent about pumpkin in candles and room sprays, but again it is not my favorite. If there is something that you LOVE, dear witch, that has pumpkin in it, I'm happy to give it a try - but maybe a sample.   Booze? I <3 all the booze!   beer: I live in Grand Rapids, which is quite the beer city. I'm fond of pretty much all dark beers, and Belgian style beers (Saisons, farmhouse, dunkels, etc). I'm not too fond of Hefes (sometimes I like them, sometimes I don't), and I hate IPAs. If anyone is on untappd, you can find me there with ALL the beer check ins. I loves it.   wine: I love wine too! My favorites are heavy reds, like cabs. I typically don't like weak reds (like pinot noir), or reds that are particularly tannic (like shiraz). For whites, I prefer dry/tart whites, particularly oaked chardonnays, and dryer reislings. I do not typically like the typically grassy/sweetish whites like pinot grigio or sauvingon blanc. I do like dessert wines a lot though, and pretty much anything sparkly.   cider: I like dry cider. I do not like woodchuck and the like, but pretty much everything else is fine. I also love trying other kinds of fruit wines/ciders.   mead: Om nom nom. Sweet or dry, I like it all. If something is too sweet, I just cut it with something dry and sparkling and make an alcoholic mead spritzer. If you haven't tried this, you should!   spirits: I love craft spirits, so if there is something local, I'd love to try it. I'm particular to bourbon, gin, and tequila, but I'll try anything. I love a good cocktail - and good cocktail means that I like my booze mixed with booze and maybe a squeeze of citrus, not with lots of sugary stuff. Want anything from Yellowstone? Be it postcards, key chains, shot glasses, pint glasses, or huckleberry what have you? I was just there, so I'm good. If there is something you think I might like, I'm all for it.   I know there is a question about "decorating style", but if you're comfortable, could you should us some photos of your spaces? For those of us who like to art and craft, it can be nice to have a visual sense of decorating style! To be added - I need to photograph my space better.   Are you a fan of the TV show Penny Dreadful? I've never watched it.   What are your coffee and tea preferences? Do you prefer one, the other, both, or neither (and if it's neither, what about things like hot cider and cocoa)? Loose leaf or bags, whole bean or ground? Is caffeine OK? Any gadgetry you're in need of? Any brands or flavors that you particularly love, loathe, or want to try? I'm not a tea drinker, and the tea will go to waste. I love coffee, I drink it all day every day. I prefer beans, but ground is fine (I have a burr grinder). I'm not huge on flavored coffee, but if there is something you think I might like, I will try it!   What's your sense of humor like? Do you enjoy puns? Play on words? Dirty humor? Dry humor? Who are some of your favorite comedians? I like smart humor and satire best of all. I'm not really big on slapstick humor. I love Jon Stewart - I once saw him do stand up, and he was amazing. I also loved the Daily Show. I find John Oliver to be very funny as well. Once when I was traveling for work, I accidentally erased my entire music collection at the beginning of a long trip. Someone else who was there gave me his whole collection so I'd have something to listen to, and he had a Bill Hicks compilation and that is possibly the funniest things I've ever listened to. Dear future witch, if you are one that is not offended by humor that is full of swear words, or humor that mocks people who are rigidly religious, you should listen to some of the clips.   Do you like board games? If so, which ones? Traditional or more unique? (like Settlers of Catan, Small World, Red Dragon Inn, etc) I do like board games, but I rarely play them what with not having children or (more recently) an S.O. When I have friends over, we like Cards Against Humanity a lot, and I don't have my own set. I also like word games, like scrabble, or taboo, or scattergories, or things like that.   Is there anything that you specifically do NOT want to receive? I have enough bar soap to last me for years so no bar soap unless it is special (like, you made it yourself). I don't take bubble baths, so all bubble bath, bath bombs, etc are lost on me. I love shower gels though.   Plain or fun socks? Either is good.   Name one (or as many as you would like) thing you would like to learn more about? I would love to learn more about tarot, as something meditative. That's the first thing that comes to mind.   What one thing you would like to do more of? Exercising. I've gotten way out of the habit, and I need to have something fun and engaging that will make me want to go.   Question!: Is there any particular piece (or pieces) of art (painting, photograph, etc) that speaks to you in some way? My answer: In general, I love art. My house is filled with it - I have a lot of vintage polish posters that I've gotten here there and everywhere. When I get around to photographing my house, I'll point them out. I also have a lot of art that I've collected on my various travels to different places. But I would say that the one piece of art that I've run across that really spoke to me in the last few years is this portrait called "2 am" by Juan Naranjo Torres.   ]   It's part of the permanent collection at the European Museum of Modern Art gallery in Barcelona. I have a little postcard framed with it that I got last time I was there, but I wish I could buy a giant print and frame it for my house because I love it so much.     Would you like any cookie butter (just to be clear, store-bought, not home-made, and does contain wheat since it's, y'know, cookie butter)? Sure, I would try it. I think maybe I have tried this once before - one of the trader joes kind. What kinds of things would you like from the Lilith BPAL or BPTP update (or are you joining a decant circle?) I bought my decants, so I am good. Do you want to received knit or crocheted items? If so, could you describe or even link to a couple of items similar to what you would like to receive? I love receiving handmade gifts. For knitted things, hats and fingerless gloves would be most welcome. I love scarves too but I have a lot of them. That being said, I live in the arctic tundra of Michigan, so more scarves could never be a bad thing.   Handmade vs store-bought: Whatever is easiest/best for my witch. I have zero preferences in this regard.   SPICY????!!!!: Bring it on. Bring it. I like things easily up to an 8, perhaps 9-10 in small doses.   What thing do you want to do (or get) but you keep putting off for one reason or another? Well, if you look at my amazon list, you'll see a lot of kitchen things and tools. My boyfriend (of 6.5 years) and I split about a month ago and I'm still replacing a lot of small things that were his. Cookie sheets, basket strainers, tongs, etc etc. I need it all again, but buying it feels so ugh.   Would you like anything from Lush? I love the ocean spray face scrub, and the happy hippie body wash. But, there are other scrubbies and body washes that are cheaper that I like just as well. No bath bombs for me, please - I don't really do the bubbly baths. Or baths period. I'm a shower girl.     What is your BPAL "Holy Grail"? Oh, I have a lot of favorites - there is a post linked in my signature. My favorite of all time is probably The Girl. I have one more bottle left (SOB)   Analog or Digital? Or Both? For music, I like records, CDs or mp3s. I listen to mix CDs in my car, so those would be very welcome. I collect records - I like old time jazz, blues, r&b stuff the best. For books, I prefer digital - I have a kindle. Paper is fine though, if you've got a used book that you think I might like that can't be sent electronically. For movies, I prefer physical DVDs, but if you have only a digital copy, I'm happy to receive that as well. Basically, whatever makes it easiest for you, dear witch! but, to sum up -   music: either mp3s, mix CDs, or records. I don't need full physical CDS. books: Kindle is my preference, used paper books are fine. I don't need new paper books - just send it digitally. movies: I prefer physical DVDs, but if you have an efile, send it over and I'll watch it on my laptop. I just don't have any easy way to watch digital files on my television (I don't think?? I have amazon prime TV, so I suppose digital amazon gifts I could easily watch, but my preference is still for the physical discs.   What scents from other perfume companies are you really wanting to have in your collection and or are just really wanting to test? Companies like NAVA, Arcana, Solstice Scents, Possets, Haus of Gloi etc.....? I have other companies in my wishlist.   Kitchen Needs or Wants: Do you need (or want) anything for your kitchen, either in the way of simple gadgets, supplies you always run out of, or never remember to get, kitchen decor (functional or purely decorative), or dry goods like special spices or spice blends? I have some things on my amazon wishlist, and I think I answered this above. I need lots of kitchen things.   Do you have an affinity for any specific animals? Penguins!   Makeup! Do you like it, would you want some? If so what brands do you like to wear? I don't wear a ton of makeup - sorry! If you're going to go this route, the things I have the greatest chance of using is nail polishes. Chocolate fiends ahoy! What kind of chocolate do you like? Do you like any other things in it or just plain good ole chocolate? Love love love love love it all! Om nom nom. dark is my favorite.   Would you be opposed to receiving a ton of Halloween themed items? Not opposed at all!   Would you be interested in any special little thing I might be able to pick up from the Great Lakes Bat Festival this Saturday? Both Janell Cannon (author of Stellaluna and other kids' books) and Fiona Reid (illustrator for lots of animal field guides) will be there, so would you possibly be interested in something like an autographed copy of Stellaluna or one of Cannon's or Reid's other books? Or something from the Organization for Bat Conservation, like a shirt or other swag? Decal! Love it. The tote bags are really cute as well. What items from the Weenie update interest you, should you have to option of getting anything as a gift from your Witch??? Would you be ok with decants, or bottles? I'm going to order my decants, so I'm good. What's your favorite scary movie? I like the scream franchise best of all.   Blu-ray or DVD? DVD   Game systems - console or computer? Mac/PC? Which console? I use a windows machine, and I have an ancient Wii that I mostly use for watching amazon prime.   Are you dressing up for Halloween and if so do you need any accessories for if? I don't think so.   Talk to me about bags, what kinds do you like? Sizes and styles? I'm pretty picky about purses, actually - things must have a long strap that I can wear cross body since I've basically messed up my shoulders from too many years of carrying ridiculously heavy bags. I love totes for groceries and things.   What are your favorite fandoms and do you want to receive anything related to such? I'm not super fannish - mostly I'd just want seasons of tv and things. I get a little fangirl about Buffy and especially Angel and, shamefully, I might be getting a little fangirlish about the Outlander series of all things. It's totally not my thing, but OMG I love it. What's wrong with me???   What are you planning to order from the Weenies update? I already ordered my decants, so that is done dear witch.   The Last Huzzah of the NY Renaissance Faire happens this weekend and I'm going! Is there anything you might want? (Besides a turkey leg, which won't ship well!) Anything you think I might like would be great. I bet there is some cool jewelry there. I've actually never been to a ren faire, so I don't know what breadth of goods there might be. Do you like comics or graphic novels? Any issues or collections you want to read? Selectively.   Do you like fanfic? Would you like a story written for you as part of your gift? What characters/fandoms/pairings etc do you like? I'll read something if you write it, but I'm not really into fanfic   Let's say you have indicated interest in receiving a hand knitted item. What colors, exactly, do you like? If you could provide color swatches here or to pinterest (or something visual), that would help out a lot. I like jewel tones and neutrals. Not so into pastels. Would you rather receive a bunch of little packages through the round, a couple of medium packages, or one big package at the end? Whatever my witch likes! It's up to you.   Would Witchees like something from IKEA? (Or any other not always accessible by everyone store?) Nothing specific.   If/when you go to the mall, for which store(s) do you beeline? I do love Sephora and Papyrus, and Crate and Barrel Do you receive any subscription boxes (julep, lootcrate, ipsy, birchbox, etc.)? I did Birchbox for a little while, but not anymore. Do you like tarts/candles/incense? If so, what type of scents? Pass - I have a lot of this already. Is there anything you wish you could have picked up from the Dragon*Con exclusives? Some of the perfumes - they are on my wishlist.   Is there a GC you've been dying to try but haven't got around to yet? Not that I can think of! I want a full bottle of Gertrude Dix though - my decant is almost out.   The questionnaire asked about gold & silver jewelry, but how do you feel about copper jewelry? Do you like colorful jewelry, or do you prefer to keep it neutral? Love copper color, but copper itself irritates my skin. For earrings, I actually can literally only do 14k gold, sterling silver or surgical steel due to allergies.   We asked about decorating style, but are you interested in receiving decorations for your home? Are you interested in things that go on the wall or things that go on shelves? If there is something my witch find which she thinks would be awesome!   Office supplies hound? Pens, pencils, journals, any preference, or favorites? I could use thin markers.   Talk to me about socks! Is there anything, dear, dear Witchee, that I can get for you from Sock Dreams? Anything from another place? Love socks! No knee socks, please, but other than that anything goes.   I live near a huuuuge candy store. What kind of candy do you like? Gummies? Caramel? Chocolate? Sour? Sugar-free? I have a horrible weakness for bright crawlers.   How do you feel about animal products? Not so much animal toys or food, but more like furs, paws, bones, etc. Tis fine. Are you interested in receiving any restaurant.com gift certificates for your area? That would be wonderful! Cherie Inn is always good or Black Heron Kitchen and Bar, or the Birch Lodge.   How do you feel about "toys" - stuffed animals and the like? This answer is in thread, but I like extinct stuffed creatures. Yes, this is very specific, but it's a thing.   Did you see the eclipse last night? How do you feel about astrological events, like eclipses? Any interest in the Blood Moon Eclipse scent from BPAL? Boo, clouds. But I love astrological events and I bought the Blood Moon bootle. Witchee's, how tall are you? And perhaps, what's your arm span (from wrist to wrist)? 5'10" How do you feel about the 4 elements? Or are you more of an Asian 5 elements person? Do you feel strongly about any of the elements, like a connection or a preference? Answered this in thread too, but tl;dr I am a fire girl, followed by metal if you use the Chinese version.   How do you feel about bento boxes? Is it something you would use if you were to get one? I probably wouldn't use them, but I find them to be adorable.   Scarves, shawls or cowls? Mittens, gloves, fingerless mitts or wristlets? I feel like I've answered this - I like all of it. I think wristlets would be my least favorite thing on this list. Fingerless mitts and hats would be top of the list. I love cowls. I have a lot of scarved, but I live in the frozen tundra so more is fine.   how do you feel about online classes? Like, say, craftsy or creativebug? Or even lynda.com? no time, not for me. What do we want from Paintbox Soapworks? All the things! If I were to make you some art, would you prefer a frame that hangs or one that sits? And what color/style would you prefer? I would love it if you made me art, dear witch! But, no pressure if the art is not strong without in (as the craft is not strong within me!). I've posted pictures of my space and I would treasure anything because it would come from you! My living room is reds, browns, and turquoises. Guest room is greys and greens. Master is pinks and blues. Office is grey, green and orange. Kitchen is turquoise and white and grey, so lots and lots of choices!   How do you feel about gourmet marshmallows? om nom.

Halloween 2014 Q & A

1. I wonder what a potential witchee would think about being bombarded with PUMPKINS in various formats. Because my current obsession just may last long enough to be of use in spoiling.....but I know wouldn't be appreciated by everyone. Would you appreciate it?!? Pumpkin baked goods are a yes, candles and smelly things are a yes, perfume is a no. 2. I currently have a CSA and my significant other is perpetually out of town for work, so I've been doing a lot of canning and baking with my vegetables. How do people feel about canned good (pickles, salsa, etc) and vegetal baked goods (squash bread, zucchini bread). I pretty much love all homemade noms. 3. Trading Post wants? In the wish list. 4. What direct sellers do you not like and would prefer not to get things from? And also feel free to list any retail brands you really don't like. I tend to prefer smaller etsy sellers, but there is nothing that you could send that would horrify me. 5. How about y'alls coffee and tea preferences? COFFEE! Coffee coffee coffee. Coffee. I prefer whole bean, and not flavored. Teas I'm less fond of drinking; if I were going to do a tea, I'd likely do a black tea or a fruit tea. I despite green tea. Despise. 6. Do you cook? Would kitchen accessories make you happy? kitchen stuff is a win for me right now. I'm just getting ready to re-do my kitchen, so cool accessories, particularly in white, grey, yellow or aqua, would be awesome! I could use dish towels, some kind of large thing to put cook utensils in, a spoon rest and many other things I probably never knew that I wanted! I'm so excited that I made the commitment to redo the kitchen that I want to BUY ALL THE THINGS. 7. How do people feel about creative endeavours? Would you like to receive one? Or supplies to make your own? What do you like? Drawings, stories, poems? I love creative things. Whatever my witch makes me, I'm sure I'd treasure. 8. What culture or country (doesn’t have to be modern) do you feel an innate connection with? What about it makes it special to you? I've always had a fascination with norse culture. I don't know why it is so fascinating to me ... i like the pantheon, the idea of a funeral pyre, a water culture, strong women ... 9. Is there any sort of art commission you would like: cartoony, pin-up, fantasy, realistic, etc? If so, what subject would you like drawn (a picture of you, a character, a loved one or pet)? I know this is a cop out, but seriously, whatever my witch wants. I will try and get it together to post some photos of my home so that you can get a sense of my style, but I really like art in all of its forms, so if you drew me something, I am sure that I would love it. 10. What do you find yourself doing for fun in your free time? What are your main hobbies and interests? Reading and photography. And home renovation! 11. Table-top gaming? If yes, what kind, edition, etc? Gaming accessories you long for? Nope, not for me. 12. DVD movies or games that you wish would magically appear in your hands? Can they be used, through Amazon? They can be used, and I have some on my amazon.com wish list. 13. What kind of snacks or candy from other countries/states would you like to try? Tim tams! I also like Daim bars a lot, and we can only get them at Ikea around here. 14. Do you have a favorite internet meme, character or pop culture fandom? Grumpy cat! And Simon's Cat. Really, all the cats. 15. Do you have a Facebook profile (or other social media) that you are comfortable linking to aid your witch in stalking? Please note whether you are willing to add BPALers as friends. I listed a bunch of stuff in TwilightEyes' spreadsheet   16. Anybody interested in something from RCCC, whether it's con-exclusive merch or from a particularexhibitor or artist? I love Tara McPherson, so if she were there, then sure! Otherwise, there is nothing that jumps out at me. 17. How important to you is regular contact / chatter with your witch? I like to know that my witch it out there, and I really enjoy regular contact, but I don't crave constant contact. If I get a chatty witch, though, I can definitely keep up! 18. Do you like puzzles/riddles/treasure hunts and that sort of thing? I like puzzles a lot - not sure about a treasure hunt though! I love crossword puzzles and logic puzzles. 19. If you were to receive music, would you want a physical CD or digital versions? Either is good. 20. What’s a current problem/annoyance you have that could be remedied but you haven’t had time to address it? The dirty floors in my kitchen. But but but! I WILL REMEDY IT, YES I WILL. 21. How do you feel about having some sort of trinket to carry around for good luck/wishes? i.e. a small figurine, symbol, card, coin… Oh, no thank you. 22. Are you superstitious about anything? Any things you can't have in your house for that reason--bad associations? Nope, bring it all on. 23. For the vegetarians and vegans: How do you feel about things (say, marshmallows or gummy candy) made with vegan gelatin or other typically-animal-derived-but-not-in-this-instance products? Well, I am not a vegan, but I will say that sour brite crawlers are one of my seekrit loves. On road trips, I always buy them at gas station convenience stores. My BF thinks they are gross, but I say more for me! 24. Ok, so we've covered pumpkin. How do you feel about the other fall classic – apples? Noms! Love them. particularly dried apples, applesauce and applebutter. 25. Do you have any fabric or skin-contact aversions? Nope. 26. How do you feel about Christmas/Yule ornaments? I love them. Who are your favorite poets and what type of subject matter do you like? To some extent? I like certain poems here and there, but I wouldn't just pick up a poetry book to read cover to cover. 30. Would you enjoy receiving something related to a favorite Disney character? My favorite disney movie is the Jungle Book, but anything for display would need to be more adult in character. 31. How do you feel about cute things as decorations or accessories? (Example: Would you enjoy this stationery - or do you prefer elegant/creepy/neutral stuff?) I do have a deep and abiding love of office supplies. Post its, pens, thumbtacks, little pads of paper, all of it. I'm not specifically into anime, but I do like bright colored, fun kinds of things. No need to be neutral.   32. What is something you'd really like to recieve from your witch? Please be as specific as possible - no, "Oh whatever she thinks is fine!" Whatever she thinks is fine! Hee, I'm funny. But in all seriousness, I just like to get things that indicate that some thought was put into the gift. It doesn't have to be handmade if you're not into the craft, it's just nice when my witch takes the time to get to know me and then pick out just the right things. 33. Go to your music source of choice - on random or shuffle setting if possible - & share with us the 10 most recent songs/artists. 1. So American - Portgual. The Man. 2. Best I Ever Had - Gavin De Graw 3. Shake it Out - Florence and the Machine 4. Hip Hop Kids - Portgual. The Man. 5. Say Something - A Great Big World featuring Christina Aguilera 6. Ooh, maybe no thanks. 37. If there was another time period other than now that described your style/aesthetics, what would it be? Some weird combination of the 1960s midcentury modern stuff and 1920s arts and crafts. 38. If you had to pick one or two quotes to live by, what would it be and why? I never had problems with my fellow scientists. Scientists are a friendly, atheistic, hard-working, beer-drinking lot whose minds are preoccupied with sex, chess and baseball when they are not preoccupied with science.   - Yann Martel, Life of Pi   But honestly, I love quotes! For a while, I kept track of them in a now rarely updated livejournal. http://la_boheme_.livejournal.com/ 39. Do you prefer physical books? CD books? eBooks? If eBooks do you have preferred format, kindle/nook/kobo/PDF/ePub/ect? eAudio? I prefer ebooks, and I prefer for the kindle. 40. Smut! Yes or no? If yes, what kink, er, kind? Hmm... probably no thanks. 41. Ebooks! Yes or no? Emphatic yes! 42. If you were to get a custom bottle from House of Gloi made for you what notes would create your perfect blend? Hmmm... carnation, white amber, fig and vanilla bean. 43. If your witch were to take a photograph (or paint or whatever) of something just for you, what would it be? Landscape? Flower? Critter? Something to illustrate a favorite quote? Any of those are fine. I treasure the art that I've gotten from swaps. I like things in bold colors. 44. What is your favorite Halloween animal or other symbol/decoration? Black cats and bats! 45. Makeup, especially of the indie variety. Nail polish, nail wraps, eyeshadow, lipstick/gloss, etc. Y/N? Specific preferences (color, finish, product, brand, etc.)? I don't wear a ton of makeup, but I do like getting it. Nail polish, I'm wide open. I probably won't ever nail wraps. I prefer neutral shades and richer tones for eye shadows - plums, dark greens, browns, blacks. I prefer lip gloss to lip stick, and I hate it when it is too sticky. I actually like the Sephora brand lip gloss a lot. 46. How do you feel about profanity and off-color humor? Bring it! 47. I make hairsticks...would you like/use them? Maybe. My hair is very fine and doesn't like to stay up. I would try to use them! 48. Does anyone here LARP? If so, what kind of LARP? And what kind of character do you play? Nope. 49. Would you completely freak out if I sent you a chocolate covered scorpion or some other food oddity? This includes things like 'bacon powder' from thinkgeek.com. Maybe no bugs, but other oddities are a-ok! 50. This has kind of been covered, but, are you ok with receiving canned jam (from a veteran jammer!) and if so, what flavors would you like and not like? yes, I would love that! Any kind of fruit jam is good, I'm not super picky. Pretty much the only things I WON'T eat are canned tuna fish and raw tomatoes. 51. Let's talk nail polish. What colors do you love? Hate? Which brands are you dying to try? Have you ever used indies? Do you like glitter? Any textures to avoid (glitter, sand, etc)? Anything is awesome! I do like nail polish, and I've gotten some cool indies in swaps before that I like very much. I'll wear all kinds of crazy colors on my feet, although for my hands I try to stay more neutral and less glittery. 52. How do you feel about getting a special Halloween plushie? Sure! 53. I'm in Japan, anything specific you might want from the land of the rising sun? I love origami paper and rice candies. 54. Are there any GC scents that you know you love, but for whatever reason, keep putting off buying bottles of? That's on my wishlist, but off the top of my head, Swank is the one that comes to mind. 55. I know not everyone likes Lush products, but if you do, which Lush items would you like to get from your Witch? I love the Lush Ocean Spray, but it's very spendy. I do not need bar soap, bath bombs or moisturizers. I do love shower gels, scrubs (body/face), and various body "mists". 56. Is there anywhere (in the US) that you are dying to get away to? Also when would you be able to get away. Would this even be something you were interested in? If so, go look at the Southwest sale for routes and dates and times. My schedule is such that travel is hard except at summer. What a lovely thought, though! 57. If you are ok with receiving t-shirts, what size are you, do you prefer tissue tees, normal crew tees, babydoll etc? T-shirts are good, I'm usually an XXL girly in any internet brand, or a unisex Large (if there is a men's slim fit option). If there are only men's t-shirts, I'll pass as my boobs are big so men's t-shirts end up looking like a tent on me. 58. THINKGEEK! Who loves it - do you have a wishlist on there?? What are some things you are jonesing for on there for under $20? I think I have a wishlist, but I'll have to scurry of and update it! 59. Zombies, yes or no? Sure, why not? 60. Would you like arm warmers/fingerless gloves? If so, what length? just beyond the wrist, almost to the elbow, full sleeves? Always, and I love ones that go out over the elbow. 61. Do you feel a particular affinity for a specific animal/s? Penguins and giraffes and chickens! 62. Anyone have any Paintbox Soapworks loves? YES Queen of the Damned. But I love all of her scrubs! 63. How would you feel if your witch or a minion of your witch showed up in person at your house with goodies? Thrilled? Annoyed? Completely creeped out? That's cool! 64. Do you have a ravelry account? Tell me about your yarn obsessions. Not a yarnie. 65. Sock Dreams, yay or nay? YAY!!! Sockdreams is love. 66. Knitted items like scarves, shawls, dishclothes....yay or nay? Favorite fibers? Favorite colors? Yay! I leave it up to you as far as fibers, and I think I've answered the color question numerous times. 67. Is your Amazon WL up-to-date? Yep. 68. If you were to receive handmade caramels, would it matter if they were made with raw cream (unpasteurized)? Nope! 69. Would you enjoy getting a sampling of quality incense taken from various sources? Are there types of incense you know you don't like? Would you want a burner for loose incense and a few charcoals to get you started with that, or would you rather stick to simpler types? I don't know that I would ever use it. I do like candles though! 70. I know we already had a question about needed kitchen accessories, but what about spices? Sure! I like different kinds of cocoas and sugars, I also like some of the hand mixed blends for curries and tagines. everything else I pretty much have. 71. Would you like handmade stationary or cards? How about a quill pen? That would be lovely 72. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being "gimme that ghost pepper!" and 1 being "oh, that's a bit too much black pepper for me" Where is your heat tolerance? 8. I love me some heat. 73. What is your favorite type of Halloween candy? I pretty much like anything chocolate. I love mini kit kats. 74. Do you need or want any cosy footwear, like fluffy slippers, or slipper socks etc? Sure! My feets get very cold in the Michigan winters. 75. What do you most look forward to each Fall? The leaves changing. 76. What gadgets do you use in your everyday life and would you like a cool case for them - with your favourite fandom or artwork or saying? I have an Iphone 5, but I don't think I need any cases right now unless my witch found something super awesome that I can't live without. If so, i could trade my free slim armor case for a witchy upgrade. 77. Are there any beauty accessories you need or would like? For example make-up brushes, facial brushes or eyelash curlers. I honestly can't think of anything right now, but that doesn't mean there isn't something! Maybe some kind of box to keep it organized in my cupboard? 78. Would you be disappointed to get one big box, or would you prefer a bunch of little ones? And would you be disappointed if your witch actually had it together early and sent it to you sooner than later? Whatever my witch wants! 79. Stores are putting out their halloween PJs and undies! Would you be happy to get any in a package? And if so, what size? For PJ pants, do you like cotton or flannel? Sure! I'm usually an XXL. 80. Do you like M&Ms? noms. 81. How about wax melts? I don't have a tart burner. 82. Would you like a subscription for Spotify? I have never used it, but maybe I'd like it? I'm not sure. 83. What scents from the Lillith update would you like to try? So many! But I probably won't be able to resist a decant circle. Not So Penitent Mini Magdalene, Avunculus, Ghost Houses, Hearts for Ghost Friends, Goofballs, Mermaid, and Venustas. 84. Would you be interested in receiving a box of sugar cube skulls? Sure! 85. Skin care routine? Fave cleanser? Toner? Moisturizer? What about body lotions? Any particular brand or scent? Lip balms? Yay or nay? I don't use lip balms much, if at all. I mostly use Fresh facial cleaser and moisturizer, which is very very very spendy and I would never expect my witch to indulge me that way. Better to indulge my body cleansing needs!   86. Is there anything you would like from Salem MA (mugs, keychains, postcards, etc.or witchy supplies like incense, candles, books)? Nothing specific comes to mind, but if my witch sees something that seems good for me, then go for it! I do like fridge magnets and awful lot.   87. Would you be interested in any of the items in LisaNut's etsy shop? I like knitted things in general.   88. Spiders (as in cute knit kind) yes or no? Sure!   89. Pillows (the mostly decorative type)? Sure again! I could use some for my guest bedroom (grass green, grey, red) or my living rooms (shades of brown, black, turquoise and red)   90. Any kind of bags - big, small, medium, purse, grocery, etc? Any and all! I love bags. Grocery bags would be especially awesome.   91. Is there anything special coming up in your life? Not that I can think of...   92. Which one scent would you want from each of the following updates: Metamorphosis, Lilith and GC? I haven't gotten my Metamorphosis decants yet, so I don't know! And I didn't even order Lilith decants. GC would be Swank.   93. Are you interested in anything from NYCC? The BPALz!   94. Would something from the Tokyo Game Show (e.g. postcards, fans) possibly interest you? I do not know what this is.   95. Would you enjoy any of these couple rings? Or anything from the same store's Halloween collection? Hmm. No linky anymore.   96. If you imbibe at all ... preference between: wine/beer/cocktails and then glassware and/or bar-ware? cocktail gadgetry? Books on the subject/recipes? would you want sample bottles of local/regional/small batch craft spirits if they were home decanted and labeled? I do imbibe. I love beer, wine and liquor. I do not like sweet cocktails - I like my liquor mixed with liquor. Books are good, especially classic cocktail books, although I have a bunch of those already. Regional spirits would be super awesome. Glassware is always fun, but I think I have pretty much every cocktail gadget. I do collect vintage barware, so if you found something cool at a thrift shop, bring it on!   97. Would you like some chai, lemon, rose water or other flavored sugar cubes? Hmm. Maybe not.   98. Jamberry nail wraps? No thank you.   99. If you had to choose one currently available book (used-but-obtainable counts if you do used) costing $20 or under for your Witch to buy for you, what would it be? The new David Mitchell book! The Bone Clocks.

Summer Blues SW Q & A

My dear witch - new entries will be added daily (I hope??) at least while I have good access to the interwebs.   Friday July 5/13   Anything from Villainess that strikes your fancy, either from their update or from the GC? Not especially.   Thursday July 4/13   If I wanted to include something for your fluffball, what would be good, and what should I stay away from? little furry mice, catnip, they like cat treats as well. Nothing really to stay away from particularly.   Would homemade treats be something you'd like for your dog/cat? Sure - I don't know if they cats would eat them, but we could try.   If you get a long weekend this weekend... what are you doing with it? Staying in? Going out? Family? Friends? If you don't get a long weekend, are you OK with that, or a little sad? (If you are Canadian, apply this to last weekend). The manbeast and I went hiking in one of the dune parks. It was nice!   Would you be interested in getting a kombucha starter and instructions on how to use it to easily make your own fermented, probiotic tea drink? No thanks.   Wednesday July 3/13   Anything interesting from the new Paintbox Soapworks update for you? I like the Sorbettos in general and always like to try new flavors. I'm not so picky about her scents as they don't really stick with me after I shower.   What about recycled sari silk yarn, witches and witchees? still not a yarnie!   Sooo, the Blooddrop update (Aviary and Summer Simplicities). Anything you'd like from there? I have tried very few Blooddrop perfumes. On a check through the list, the following blends look interesting to me: Kea, Kestrel, Apricot Yoghurt and Orchid look like they could be wins!   DEAR FIBER AND YARN PEOPLE: I am going back to Paradise Fibers today. They have like almost every type of fiber roving and dye and stuff available. If you're a spinner and have any fiber wishes, what would you like? Dyed or natural? Do you need dye? colors? brand? Not a yarnie.   Tuesday July 2/13   Every package has to have something blue in it. Blue can also be used to describe more risque humor...how would you rate your general sense of humor? Are you strictly PG-13, R-rated, NC-17? NC-17 humor is fine by me!   Do you like puzzles? What kind? Jigsaw, word, etc I talked about this on the thread, but I love puzzles. My favorites are crosswords and logic puzzles. I also have a fondness for jigsaw puzzles - early on in our relationship, the manbeast and I used to sit together and assemble them as part of a date night. We'd buy one of the cheapo ones at the Barnes and Nobles near our house and desperately look for a surface big enough for assembly.   Monday July 1/13   I know Canadian chips can be different than others, how does "dill pickle" or "ketchup" sound? Not so good, actually.   If you were getting a custom Haus of Gloi blend, what four notes would you choose? Summer notes listed here and you can click through to the whole list from there. Blood orange, lychee, fig, white amber.   QUESTION! Do you like Kickstarter? Are there any projects up that you really like? Sure, but I tend to pick and choose. There is nothing I'm desperate to back at the moment.   QUESTION! If you have an Etsy wishlist, what are your top 5 favorite things on there? The price is unimportant, not because I'm rich, but because I'd like some inspiration.   (1) This coat: https://www.etsy.com/listing/111889535/custom-made-woolen-coat-with-round?ref=col_view (2) This mug: https://www.etsy.com/listing/62798499/half-agony-half-hope-persuasion-jane?ref=col_view (3) This necklace (love her stuff): https://www.etsy.com/listing/95104583/20-off-use-coupon-code-wedding-lotus?ref=col_view (4) This cushion cover: https://www.etsy.com/listing/85616823/vintage-map-cushion-pillow-eco-friendly?ref=col_view (5) This bag: https://www.etsy.com/listing/27316950/marigold-ambrosia-luxury-silk-tie-silk?ref=col_view   Festival this week -- includes an "encampment" and an art faire. any interest in trinkety things from the encampment or cards/prints from local artists Sure - I love trinkets!   How do you feel about glitter? does loose glitter make your skin crawl or would you bathe in it? hmmm, no thanks.   Do you want/need/like/collect journals? If so, do you prefer lined or unlined? I only journal online, so this would likely be a waste.   Does the idea of wearing a plant as jewelery give you the warm fuzzies or the heebie jeebies? warm fuzzies!   Gourmet popcorn, yes/no? What do you like: glazed, savory, candied? Nuts or not? Any flavors you wouldn't like (like Bacon CHeeseburger, Pizza, Watermelon, Root Beer Float, Hot Chili Dark Chocolate)? Or if any of those sounded interesting, how weird is weird enough? No popcorn for me, thanks.   Question: I make my own hair gloss, would you like some detangling and very shiny hair gloss made by me? This is a 'cone rich blend, not the least bit natural. Sure, I'd give it a try!   Thursday June 27/13   I live near the Brown and Haley outlet - makers of Almond Roca and Mountain Bars - would you want anything from the outlet? For nut-haters, they have nutless Roca For the no-sugar folks they have sugar-free as well. Sure - just keep in mind the restrictions in my questionnaire. No gluten, and if possible, no processed sugar.   I also have an Oberto jerky outlet local to me - any wants there? Noms. I like jerky.   How do you feel about home-canned goods? More noms. I am all about home-made things - jams, salsa, dressings, chutneys, pickles, whatever. Just no gluten.   Do you like BPTP clothing? Yes. What size do you wear of:   Baby-doll T's Usually XXL? Although I'm kind of between sizes right now and the XXLs are getting big. Regular T's I don't much like the regular Ts - mens T-shirts fit me REALLY oddly because my boobs are big. The only men's t-shirts I buy are "slim fit" or uni-sex as they tend to stretch over my boobs and hips without making it look like I'm wearing a tent. yoga pants I've never bought them, but probably XXL as well.   Also, what is your favorite lunacy (or non-lunacy) T-shirt that you don't already own? Hmm, not sure. I can tell you that I DO own Candles Moon 2012, Weeping branches Moon, Hungry Ghost Moon 2011 (my favorite) and Singing Moon 2012. I don't buy too many because I find them a bit expensive for a t-shirt as I like the tissue tees. It has to be a design I REALLY resonate with. Or other clothes from BPTP? Not that I can think of - I have the District shirt and I love it.   What else do you love from the Trading Post site, and need to have? I like the room sprays and hair glosses very much. Lets see, I haven't tried any of the recent release of hair glosses, but I've tried everything from the first two releases. Both of the Lady of Pain hair glosses look great. I love the room sprays as well, and have a couple of my wishlist. I haven't tried any of the Lady of Pain sprays, and they all look fantastic. The candles I'm actually a little meh about - I loved my halloween candle from two years ago, but did not like the one I ordered this year and I haven't ordered any other. Again, they are a little pricey for me and nothing has really stood out as a YES YES YES. I am not interested in the soap (dries my skin) and I'm not into baths and since I found the glossing sprays from Haunt, I don't use the bathoils as moisturizer any more, so I'm probably good on that count as well.   Is there a particular movie genre that you like (Fantasy? Drama? Romantic Comedy? Musicals? TV-Series, etc), and what format would you prefer: DVD, Blu-Ray, or something in the cloud (like Amazon, iTunes, Flixster, etc)? I like all kinds of movies. I have a bunch of things on my amazon wishlist (go back into the tunnel of time, dear witch!) that I still would like to get. I prefer DVD format. If there is some movie that I simply must see, that you think I'd love, well I am up for it. If you want to send me something digitally, that's fine too - I have amazon prime viewer and itunes. We also have an apple tv, so we can stream from itunes straight to the television. While I have librarything for my books, I don't have a good catalogue of my movies. I do have a letterboxd account (username is sophiawestern - http://letterboxd.com/sophiawestern/films/diary/), but it is sadly out of date especially as I watched a crap ton of movies on all of my long flights this summer. I'll work on updating it though - I've been meaning to do it anyway as I like organization.   Following up on the Adagio question from earlier, what are you top five wishes, for teas and blends? I have no wishes as my tea knowledge is limited. If you would like to educate me, dear witch, I wouldn't say no. I like smoky flavors, vanillas and fruity teas. I do not like plain green tea.   Do you have anything that you do ritually, every summer? Travel? I usually spend the first weekend of August in Spokane, WA with my mom's side of my extended family. I also travel to Spain each summer, although this is a more recent thing.   What are your top five wishes from ThinkGeek? I have a wishlist there - email address LTallman@gmail.com.   Seen anything lately that makes you go OH HOLY FUCK THAT'S AWESOME!!? When I was SCUBA diving in Thailand, one of the other people had a dive log book that had plastic page protectors in it. Little plastic page protectors for the log sheets. That is BRILLIANT. I always forget my log book so I have a million loose pieces of paper from the various dives I've done and I'd love to get some kind of small binder with protective pages for them all. Her binder had a cute fishie design on the outside too.   Do you like audiobooks? If so, do you have/would you like to try Audible? (I'm an addict, myself.) I do not like audiobooks.   Chocolate: Love? Hate? Allergic? If love, what are your faves? Dark chocolate - the darker, the better! Noms.   Wednesday June 26/13   Do you have any long trips coming up? If so, could you use things to occupy yourself? So many, but you already know that, dear witch. Ebooks are the best present for me for travel.   I'm going to Jungle Jim's next week (it's basically a massive international food gasm in Ohio, look it up); would anything interest you? I leave this to your discretion, dear witch! If you think there's something I'd like, go for it!   Name three things that you could use, but might not necessarily think to get for yourself? Plain, thin headbands (to hold back fly aways), ball point pens with a fine tip, a magnetic grocery list pad that sticks on the fridge (those are the things that popped into my mind as stuff I've wanted most recently!)   Does anything from the TP Etsy update interest you? I bought a bottle of horticultral spray and that's the only thing.   I just found out Oreo is launching ones with watermelon flavor in the USA only. Is it something you would enjoy? Ew.   What are the three BPALs you would most like to receive - one GC, one not-hard to find LE, and one HTF LE from your dreams? GC: Czernobog; LE: maybe Arana, or Passion Flower SN; HTF: Jingo Kogo. Or more Antique Lace (although that's greedy as I have a bottle). Or Siberian Musk SN   If you don't consider yourself in a "fandom" (and I get that ... I don't really go overboard on my liking of any TV show/Movie/etc), are there any TV shows or Movies that you really like and/or watch regularly or any actors/actresses you wouldn't leave standing in the rain (unless you like looking at them sopping wet, in which case ... well, nevermind)? I think I covered my television likes and dislikes in my questionnaire. As far as actors/actresses - I'm not really one to fawn on celebrities. I typically prefer the characters they play in various movies and television shows to themselves.   So, dear witchee, would you like some Tw*twaffle soap or scent or lotion? No? Yes? I'm not sure - I think perhaps I need to check the thread to understand this.   Has anyone asked about tattoos? Do you love them? Hate them? Have any? Want any? I have two - a compass on my ankle and a moon rising over water on my back. I frequently think about getting more.   Tuesday June 25/13   If you knit/crochet, what sizes of needles do you need? I do not knit or crochet.   What styles of artwork do you like? I like all different stuff - my taste is really eclectic. I posted some photos of my apartment in the thread, but here is a guest pass for a more inclusive set on flickr so you can get a sense of my style. http://flickr.com/gp/lissaphoto/516n11/   If you cook, would you be interested in-hand made spice mixes/rubs? Sure!   Would you like mexican vanilla or silver rings/necklaces? Yes and yes.   The Conjure Oils update (http://conjureoils.com/emporium.htm) looks absolutely fabulous...I didn't know she made soaps and candles and whanot. Is there anything from the Oddment Emporium you would like? The dry perfume sprays sound awesome. Midnight, Heliophobe and Fire Dragon Parasol appeal to me the most, although I've never tried Conjure Oils.   What is your favorite color? red   What is your favorite season? spring   If you could live anywhere in the world and money was no object, where would it be? Barcelona.   Monday June 24/13   Do you have any symbols or totems that are meaningful to you? Not really. I do like penguins an awful lot.   When you are having a really rough day, what do you like to do/have to make it a little brighter? Take a long shower, have a nice glass of wine, eat some dark chocolate and read one of my favorite books.   Would you like if your witch sent a regional pop/soda? If so, what type (Root beer, creme soda, cola, citrus-flavored, chocolate-flavored, etc...)? Probably no - unless you have Peartiser or Stoney Ginger beer.   Ninjas or Pirates? Ninjas!   Werewolves or vampires? Vampires!   Zombie or Cthulhu? um.... neither?   Do you want to receive one big package or a bunch of small ones? Digital stuff all at the end when the box should arrive or as we go? Whatever you wish, dear witch. The only thing I fervently hope is that we keep playing all the way to the end of the round.   Do you welcome knitted items? If so, what would you like most? (amigurumi, washcloth, socks, shawl, shawlette, scarf, wrist warmers, hat, etc.) Do you have any favorite fibers? How about any fiber allergies? Favorite color for knitted items? Sure, knitted things are fine. I have a lot of scarves, but could always use more hats or fingerless gloves. Michigan is cold.   Sunday June 23/13   Is there a Quote that resonates with you, or that you particularly like a lot. Would this be something you would like artwork made of for your walls or a shirt/bag/scarf? I love quotes in general and I collect them in various place. You can read some in my mostly defunct (and open) livejournal - http://users.livejournal.com/la_boheme_/. Some favorites:   Pity the poor in spirit who know neither the enchantment nor the beauty of language. - Muriel Barbery, The Elegance of the Hedgehog   For the first time I actually felt like I owned my skin, like it was me and I was it. - Junot Diaz, The Brief Wonderous Life of Oscar Wao   How I wished sometimes that I could join him in his stark, right-angled world, where everything was either right or wrong and there was no doubt which was which. What unimaginable luxury, never to wrestle with whether or why, never to lie awake nights wondering what if. - Hillary Jordan, Mudbound   I am a restlessness inside a stillness inside a restlessness. - Dodie Smith, I Capture the Castle   I am the outskirts of a town which isn't there, the lengthy commentary on a book that hasn't been written.- Fernando Pessoa   You have often begun to tell me what I am, but stopped and left me to a bootless inquisition. - William Shakespeare, "The Tempest"   Also, STARBUCKS, Yay or Nay? Anything you particularly like? Starbucks, yay! Not instant coffee, but anything else is good.   Is there someone on the forums (within SW or not) who knows you really well and might be able to help with stalking? you could try izile and Invidiana - both my real life friends from New York. Also Obsidienne who I have been friends with for over a decade.   If you happen to find out who yours is, how much would it bother you? My witch? Not at all! Last round, I accidently betrayed my identity ON THE FIRST DAY. #switchwitchfail   Do you use waxmelts or tarts? If so, which ones do you prefer? I have no tart burner, so no.   Do you enjoy drinking hot chocolate, and would you like stuff to make it with, or to add to it? Sure, cocoa is nice. I don't drink it much because of the aforementioned sugar restrictions.   Have you ever tried Spoonfudge? Would you enjoy it if your Witch would send you some? Which of the flavors would you like? I do not know what Spoonfudge is... (google) Looks good. Sounds kind of sugary though? If you think I'd like it, go for it.   What's your opinion on Moonalisa? Any favorites or products you'd like to try? I've never tried it, but everyone raves about it. If I should be enabled, go for it. The bodywash and/or conditioner probably appeal to me most as products I'd like to try. No on all of the bath brews and such as I don't take baths.   Are there any BPALs that you loved the idea of, the imagery - whether artwork or description - but which didn't work out for you? (I'm asking because if they did, you might mention them elsewhere, but if not, the imagery might be helpful) No so much, really. I'm into the bpal for the scents and I often don't pay much attention to the imagery. Although the new line of natural drawings on the bottles I do love.   Saturday June 22/13   Put your mp3 player/online music/itunes/etc on random and list the next 10 songs here: 1. In the Waiting Line - Zero 7 2. Turn Turn Turn - Byrds 3. Comfortably Numb - Scissor Sisters 4. Blah Blah - Kate Miller-Heidke 5. Riverboat Song - Ocean Colour Scene 6. You Oughta Know - Alanis Morisette 7. Blue and Sudden - Ten Mile Tide 8. Be Ok - Ingrid Michaelson 9. Brown Sugar - Rolling Stones 10. Case in Point - Andrew Bird   what is your favourite object, that you own, ignoring sentimental reasons for attachment? So I guess something you find beautiful, or fun, or incredibly useful. Probably done of my art. I love my giant poster of the birds in black and white (in my office over my desk).   How big is too big...for something to hang on your walls? If I'm painting you a pretty picture, are there maximum dimensions that you have/prefer? As you prefer - I love art and I can always find room!   Gift cards/vouchers - yay or nay? If you like them - which stores would you like one for? Yay! Wherever - online retailers are probably best as it's easy to redeem. Starbucks is always good too.   Is there anything from Australia you would like? eg: snacks (yes, you can ask for Tim Tams!), books, magazines, memorabilia? TIMTAMTIMTAMTIMTAM   Do you have any problems with swearing or particularly off-color humor? Fuck no!   What style is your sense of humour? Dry, sarcastic - I like "smart" humor, not slapstick humor.   Opinions on table top games, from cards and board games, to dice and rpgs. What do you like? What don't you like? Favorites? Any classics you like? Do you collect any? I like games, but no friends to play them with (boo hoo hoo - moving is hard!). My don't do any RPGs. My favorite games tend to be word games, like scrabble or scatergories or apples to apples.   What would you like from the most recent BPAL update? What are you planning on buying for yourself and what would you like to try? I didn't buy anything for myself, yet, not even decants. I will likely buy the Sweet Pea SN. There are a couple bottles I'd be interested in trying - Aurelia*, Calocyclas*, Desmonema, Epibulia, and Octopus*. The starred ones I'm pretty sure won't work, but I'm interested in trying anyway. (Aurelia has strawberry, which always smells fake to me, Calocyclas has sandalwood which usually smells like pencil shavings and Octopus is a salty aquatic which can be really hit or miss - especially with Rose geranium). If I were to order decants, those are the ones I'd do but I was thinking about waiting for some reviews this time since they'll be up for a couple of months. I had high hopes for A Tremulous Song and ordered a ton of decants and none of them were what I was really hoping for.   Is there a literary character you identify with? Even if it's not spot-on, just someone you found yourself having that "I identify with this" feeling? Not off the top of my head.   What are the three books you most want to read right now, and which you don't already have? 1 - A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki 2 - The Girl Who Chased the Moon: A Novel by Sarah Addison Allen 3 - The 39 Deaths of Adam Strand by Gregory Galloway   Would you like something from Empire Edibles? The caramels look good.   Is there anything small you try to collect from everywhere you visit? Fridge magnets   Witchee, I know that SW isn't about what you get... but could you name one thing you would be heartbroken not to get and one thing you would be a-ok if it didn't make it in your box? (i.e. do you REALLY want perfume oil of some sort, or would you be totally heartbroken if there was no Lush in your box, etc A reveal!   Do you like tarot cards, pendulums and rune stones etc? If so, what type? I don't have any of the sort - I wouldn't mind something about how to read tarot and a deck. I'm certainly interested.   What fandoms do you belong to? I'm not much for the rabid fandoms.   What cheers you up? Books!   Who or where would you most want to haunt? Who would you least want to be haunted by? I don't think I'd want to be haunted. Maybe my grandmother? Because I'll miss her when she is gone. But honestly, I don't like to think about death very much because it terrifies me. TERRIFIES. ME.   What question do you hate to answer? How was your trip? As if I could possible sum up everything that happened in a trip with anything other than a long monologue or just "great".   What is the best compliment you have/could receive? I like it when people compliment my cooking or my driving as those are things that people in my past have made me feel bad about for no good reason.   Would you like anything from an European country? Any particular food or goodies, magazines, books, whatever would be available to your witch in his/her country. Sure, whatever you like.   Do you like bags? If so, what type (rucksack, clutch, shopping bag) colour and would you like/need a new one? I love bags. I prefer things with a long shoulder strap as I have issues with my shoulders and need to wear things cross body. Or clutches or wristlets are always good too. And shopping bags are a-okay, especially as I am an avid farmers market goer.   What's your favourite comfort food(snack or candy etc) and/or drink? Wine?   Would you be interested in someone writing out for you a favourite recipe, or finding or devising one which they think you'd like? If so, please provide your favourite ingredients, info on how you like to cook/store and use food, and any intolerances - unless all of these are in your questionnaire, or you don't like the idea. (I'm not saying I'd definitely do this, unless someone is keen, and it wouldn't be the only gift). I guess for other witches this might include something like a knitting pattern - not my thing but would you like that? Or indeed would you like a picture created for you (if so what kind) or a story written? (sorry if this feels a bit Spanish Inquisition!) I think my food preI ferences are pretty well laid out in my questionnaire and in these Q&As. Art I leave to my witch's discretion - I adore handmade things and can always find a place for them. I don't knit, so that wouldn't be so good.   If you knew you were going to live comfortably for say 800 years, what profession, calling or project might you pursue with some of your extra years, which you imagine you may not do in the life that you have? I'd be a professional photographer. I got into the hobby late® in life, when I was almost finished with college and already on a the track to be what I currently am. But I love it so very much, and I wish I could make it into a profession. When I was a little girl, I thought I wanted to grow up and write and illustrate children's books, so maybe I'd take photographs to go in children's books that I wrote. Or maybe I'd be an interior designer! I don't know, definitely an artist of some sort. Regardless, I feel pretty lucky, all in all, to be doing what I do. I gave up all of my twenties to pursuing a Ph.D., but I don't think I could handle working a desk job. And science pays better than art, sadly.   Is there any thing - an object, a donation on your behalf, some research done for you, whatever - that your witch could do about this that you would like? And if you can't think of a present, would you rather she/he (I!) didn't either and confined themselves to things you are already involved in? I'm not sure I have an answer here.   What colors/style is your kitchen decor? And do you entertain in your home? I posted some photos in the thread and you can check my flickr set. I do like to entertain, but I am sadly lacking in friends at the moment.   Are your ears pierced? Many times.   Do you like stuffies/stuffed animals/art doll type thingies? If so, any particular type you'd love to get? If you find something that you simply MUST get for me, it's perfect and it's meaningful, then I will treasure it. I don't collect stuffed animals though, so don't go out of your way to look for them.   Switch Witch is, of course, all about you.....but if your Witch was so inclined, are there wee little ones in your home that will get jealous and are just too young to understand why you won't share the love, who maybe need a touch of Witchee love all their own, to distract them while you hide all your lovelies?!? I am child-free by choice, however the man-child I live with does like to pick at foodstuffs my witch may send to me!   Thursday June 20/13   Do you read literature/culture blogs or websites of any kind? I'm thinking about anything that would help a putative witch to get a sense of what your current tastes in books, movies, games, genres, approaches to culture and literature and so forth are Let's see, I read Gawker and I read the AV Club.   How do you feel about traditional picnics (namely the intimate table for two variety)? Old-fashioned basket or something more utilitarian (cooler/insulated bag)? I like them, but I'm not much of a picnic-er.   If you were put in a room with 100 random other people the same age and sex as you, from your country, in what way do you think you would be different from the average? I need to come back to this one when I have more time.   Haus of Gloi did a Reverie update! Do any of them interest you? (Or anything else up currently?) The only product I've tried is the lotion in amber, which I like. I wish the scent were a little stronger in it - I get a lot of the base ingredients, but what I can smell smells good! I'd try some of the scrubs, for sure. You have my list of scent likes and dislike - do your best! I will say that nothign on the Reverie catches my eye, but the Beguiled in the summer scents for the scrub looks yummy.   Witchee, do you cook? Do you do all the cooking? Is it a chore or a pleasure? I do cook some, but the boy does more. It is a pleasure, usually. I like simple, tasty recipes that are quick to prepare. Bonus if I can sub ingredients to use up my CSA stuff!   Which reading level do you prefer to read in YA or Adult? Or even both? I like both. Good young adult literature is good.   Wednesday June 19/13 - part the second   Do you like sample sized things? Think lipgloss, mascara, bodylotion, scrubs, mini candles, and so forth. Sure, that's fine. I like to try things before I committ.   Have you tried Fortune Cookie Soap? What products or scents would you like? I have not, but see my previous comments as to bars of soap. Usually, I do not like.   Do you use solid soaps at all? If so, what kind do or don't you like? No thanks.   Have you ever tried Cocoa Pink? If you are curious about it, what looks interesting to you? I have never tried it, but the dry oil sprays, after sun glow and both of the scrubs look interesting! There are lots of scents the look good on the winter 2012 list - if you look at my list of notes I like, you can probably guess which appeal. For scrubs, I do like foody scents too. For perfumes, I prefer a little less foody.   Do you like Lush? If so, what is your favorite product that is currently available, also, what is a product that you love but has been discontinued? I do, but I don't buy it much. I like the Ocean Spray face scrub so so much.   Anyone a fan of Shiro Cosmetics? Any particular products? Eye shadow pigments in general? Never tried it!   Are there any companies, products, or items you boycott? Not aggressively. I try to stay away from products with palm oil, but I'm not consistent about it. I do boycott Chik Fil A (as my friend says - they serve up tasty bags of deep fried hate) and Walmart (aka the evil empire). Also, it's not a boycott per se, but it has been YEARS since I've eaten at any fast food establishment that isn't Subway. Ever since I was Super Size Me in the theater, I've stayed away from fast food. Pretty much, if it has a drive through, I probably won't eat there.   As I am in Japan, what sort of things would you like from there? Ooh, some nice origami papers would be most welcome!   Since FB and the FB Gusp group (and the BPAL Sorority which is quiet) have become gathering places...what are some of your favorite Facebook pages you like? Not sure I have any of these.   Wednesday June 19/13   If you could have one rare bpal which one would you choose? Jingo-Kogo.   Are you kinky? Not really.   Do you enjoy scented candles? Certain sizes that you like? What kind of scents or brands? I do enjoy scented candles! I like Witch City Wicks a lot, but basically any clean burning, soy kind of candle is good for me. I like a wide variety of smells too. Some fresher smelling ones might be nice as I have a lot of foodie ones (which I love!) but I tend to go for those in the winter.   Thoughts about South Africa? Have you been here, would you like to go? Would you like to receive anything South African? I have been there. My favorite things from South Africa are not very exportable. I have dreams about drinking Peartizer again. mmmmmmmmmm, Peartizer. I also really like Stoney Tangawisi, which is sold all over east Africa and South Africa, bottled by Coca Cola, but sadly not available in the US. That's all I can really think of - I'm stocked up on other African bits and bobs.   Do you like Sockdreams? If so, what styles would you prefer? (You can also link your wishlist.) Yes, sock dreams is awesome! I love all the patterned trouser socks - I like to wear them in the fall. Not so big on thigh highs.   Do you need hair accessories? If so, what kind or color? Hmm, I'll pass on these.   What is your favorite shade of blue? Turquoise   Do you have any kitchen gadgets (a SodaStream, a Kuerig/Tassimo) that you want mix things for? Nope.   If you were to start learning something new (intellectual or craft or hobby), what would it be? Perhaps knitting.   What about candy? Do you have a sweet tooth? I covered this in my questionnaire, but I DO have a sweet tooth and I'm trying to stay away from most sweets. Dark chocolate would be welcome.   Do you have an e-reader? What kind? Would you like to get ebooks? I have a Kindle, and EMPHATIC YES on ebooks! Love them!   If your witch is an extremely crafty sort, and she were to send all kinds of homemade foody goodies and handmade crafty stuff - what are items you would NOT LOVE to receive. Please don't hedge on this one...some of us are serious crafters and will be making most of what we send! I'm open to pretty much anything! As I said in my questionnaire, I'd like the limit the baked goods, but that's about it. Do you worst! I love handmade things.   Witchee dear, do you like video games? Are there any you want to play? Do you have a large library? Not much of a gamer.   Do you have something you do, without fail, as a personal daily habit/ritual? (Examples: pen-and-paper journal keeping, tea/coffee drinking, morning yoga, nightly bedtime reading. I'm kind of thinking on things that would be dear to you and might need small supplies or could use certain extras. ) My morning coffee. It's not really a ritual per se, but the day isn't quite right if I dont' have it.   Do you wear nailpolish? What colors do you tend to go for? What are your favorite brands? Are you open to trying indie brands? Yes, and I like OPI a lot. I'm open to any colors!   Name three BPAL scents you have tried, but are dying to get more of. Elf v4, Siberian Musk SN, Dream of Fisherman's Wife   Do you still write real letters on nice stationary to people you like/love? Occasionally. I do like stationary a lot.   Have you ever tried anything from Paintbox Soapworks? Which products or scents would you prefer? Yes, but it's been a while. I like the sorbetto scrubs.   Do you like/have space to garden? If so, what do you grow? No garden for me, sadly. I do have some indoor plants - I like to grow herbs and cacti.     Monday June 17/13   Dr Who? Nope, no thanks.   How much do you like lipbalm? Flavored or unflavored? What are your favorite brands and flavors? I am not a lipbalm girl, I'm afraid. I like a good medicated blistex when my lips are chapped, but otherwise I go bare lipped, or with gloss.   Do you like and wear lipgloss? If yes, what colours? I do like lip gloss. I prefer kinds that are relatively sheer, or lightly tinted in a natural kind of color and not sticky.   For those of you whose wishlists contain only BPALs, are there any other perfume companies you like or would like to try out? I mentioned this in my questionnaire AND my wishlist has other companies, but I really like Nocturne Alchemy, Arcana and especially Haunt products. I've never tried Moonalisa. I have one bottle of Violette Market and one or two of Possets and I've gotten samples here and there, but I have not tried anything extensively. I like the companies though, so if there is something you think I'd like, go for it! I've also gotten samples here and there of Solstice scents and while nothing has jumped out at me thus far, I'm not opposed. I'm not big on villainess perfumes - they smell great, but do not last at. all. on my skin. Must be her carrier oil or something.   Your feelings on Adagio teas: If you've never had anything from them, would you be open to trying them? If you HAVE had them and like them, name some favorites blends. And if you had them and dislike them, can you name a few *other* tea companies you're into? I have not tried any Adagio teas. I am not a huge tea drinker. When I drink it, I prefer whole leaf and not bagged, mostly. I'm pretty open - the only thing I know I dislike is plain green tea. Things I know I especially like are Tazo's Vanilla Rooibos tea, Tazo's Passionfruit tea and Bigelow peach herbal tea. I've tried a bunch of stuff at Teavana and I always like what they have out to sample, but I rarely purchase as it is so expensive. I do have a loose tea drainer dealy and a measurer and canister from Teavana from the one time I bought some tea there.   What about coffee? Would you like to get coffee send to you? Whole bean or ground? What are some varieties and/or flavors you enjoy LOVE coffee. Prefer whole bean, prefer not fruit flavored, or hazelnut. Other than that, sky is the limit!   Who is your favourite female of all time? Historical, literary, ANYTHING, and why? Oh, I don't know that I can choose a favorite, period. I always favor the sort of badasses though - for historical, people like Queen Elizabeth I or Eleanor of Aquitaine who managed to do a lot despite the shitty lot of women in the middle ages. I'm also a big fan of Rosalind Franklin who totally deserved a slice of the Nobel Prize with Watson and Crick.   If you were a Disney princess you would be?: I would not wish to be a disney princess. They all end up married as teenagers!   Would you like a seashell from Florida? No thanks.   What craft project do you currently have on your docket or that you want to start? And that craft goodies would be welcome? I don't get my craft on much, I must say. I don't know that there are many craft supplies that would be welcome. When I have time, I make books but I haven't exercised that craft in a while.

I have one!   If you had a fairy for NYCC, what exclusive scent would you kill to own? I have a fairy for everything I want. Thanks!   What do you think of Shiro Cosmetics Halloween Collection? (www.shirocosmetics.com) Too afraid to look!   The Godiva Halloween Collection: link? All your chocolate will belong to me! Seriously, I love chocolate anything.   Would you be interested in comic books and if so what ones do you read or what genre of comics are you interested in? Yes! I am not a big comic book person, but I have been reading the Buffy/Angel comics. I'm interested in the Spike and Illyria spin offs in the Angel series especially as those are the only ones I don't have from that set. I just started getting the Buffy comics and have only have the first softcover volume.   WITCHEE, DO YOU WANT ANYTHING FROM CALIFORNIA? I used to live there and go back frequently, so I'm good.   IngenuiTEAs? No thanks.   Honeycrisp "Apple Crips" (Dried honeycrisp apples, nothing added.) DO YOU WANT SOME WITCHEE????? YESYESYESYESYES!!   Design a tea? No thanks.   FusionSweets? (etsy) Yummers! I'd love to try anything, really.   Poe Day? Dark Del merch in general? I don't know much about it, but if there is something my witch thinks I might like, I'm down.   Kombucha? No thanks.   Are you dressing up for Halloween, Witchee? If so, is there anything you're looking for to complete your costume? I don't really like dressing up.   Do you need any accessories for your smartphone (case, skin, etc)? I really, really want the olloclip or microscope camera attachments that they sell at thinkgeek, but they are a little spendy. Otherwise, I could use a new screen protector. I have the iPhone 4S.   Gardening? Not so much. I do like houseplant though.   Do you use or would like to try loose eyeshadow pigments? I do not - they are verrrrrry messy. I am too klutzy to use them, I think!   Is there anything you might want from the latest update (Lab or TP)? Well, I want ALL the room sprays! But I only ordered Apple Orchard. I ordered decants of the lab stuff I'm interested in. I'll pass on all of the BPTP perfumes - they look too sweet for me.   What's a new company to you that you most want to try a product from or what would be a new product to you that you most want to try (make-up, perfume, or bath/body)? Hmm, I don't know. Maybe Moonalisa? Everyone raves about that stuff.   If you like necklaces, what are some symbols or images that you would love to have a necklace depict? (ex. spiders, skulls, hearts...?) I have lots of examples of necklace styles I like in my etsy favorites. I'm not so big on iconography in necklaces, but maybe a bird?   Lip balm - tube or tin? No thanks, really. People give that stuff to me all the time, and I don't use it often.   Would you like to receive a journal or sketchbook? How about other pretty paper goods like post-its, notepads, bookmarks, letter paper/envelopes? Post-its, note cards and little notepads would be much appreciated! I write notes to myself all the time at work and at home.   Are you interested in audiobooks? If so, any specific titles? No thanks.   Bar soaps with some scrubby bits, yes or no? I can't do bar soaps much.   Do you need any small electronic gadgets like flash drives and the like? hmmm. I can't think of anything, but maybe there are awesome things out there that I don't know about! Use your best judgement, dear witch. A small laser pointer would not be amiss.   Would you like a pair of knitted socks? Sure!   Do you have any use for knitted dishcloths, facecloths, etc, especially if they were fandom related? I use them when they are given to me!   Do you subscribe to any sample boxes, and if so, which ones? Would you like to receive some samples? (perfume, eco/"green," skin care, hair, music downloads, cosmetics, soap...) I did Birchbox for a little while - it was fun and I found some stuff that I love. I've been meaning to restart my subscription.   do you have a problem with nudes???Male or Female? Nope.   People ask a lot of questions about dogs and cats, but I know a lot of forumites have rodent pets. How would you feel about hammocks or toys for your rats/hamsters/gerbils/etc.? Awww! No rodent pets in my house though.   My Little Pony... Cute or meh? No thanks - loved it when I was a kid, not into it now.   I realize that we had a similar question in the ?aire, but I need you Witchee-s to list at least 5 items, each ranging $20 and under from Amazon.com or Walmart.com. 1. fun pushpins 2. pretty much any book from my amazon wish list 3. soap dish 4. picture frames with mattes for 5x7 photographs (4 of them) for some pictures for my office at work 5. something to organize all of my computer cords   My new job is at a consignment store where we have all kinds of designer brands for very reasonable prices. Are there designer clothes/purses/sunglasses that you desire/love? (Give some indication as to your "style" as well. For example, do you like bohemian-style frocks in lavender? Crossbody purses in black? Sunglasses that are round and bug-like?) I love love love purses. I most frequently use clutch/wristlets or purse with long straps that can be worn cross body. I've killed the muscles in my shoulders hauling around heavy bags with short straps so the shorter strap bags start to bother me. I love wristlets or little armpit purses for going out though! The only thing I absolutely do not like is branded prints (i.e. the coach bags that have coach written all over them, or the LV printed vuitton bags). But otherwise, almost anything goes! I like things in neutrals and fun prints and colors.   Are there any existing Weenies that you have your eye on, but haven't gotten around to getting? Nope.   In the meantime, let me know what you like to do on the Internet to kill time. Flash games? What are your daily websites/blog visits, or favorite YouTube videos? I love the Oatmeal. I read the AV Club all the time.   I live in Japan. Anything you would be interested in from there? Candy or stationary!   Candy Corn: yes, no? yes yes!   You open a box from the post office to reveal the 3 things you want most right now. What are they? (caveats: size doesn't matter, but they have to be tangible/buyable). A car starter, map pillow coverings from mybeardedpidgeon on etsy, one of the iphone camera attachments (note - dear witch, these are all expensive and I DO NOT expect you to purchase any of them. But they are what came to mind right now!!!)   The end of this month I'm going to Scarefest, the big horror and paranormal con in Kentucky. (www.scarefest.com) If I were your witch, is there anything you would like from there (skull jewelry, art prints from an artist that catch your eye, etc), or anyone whose autograph or photo or such you would dig? I think I'll probably pass.   What is your holy grail "I'd kill to just have one drop in an imp" bpal scent? Elf v4! I have one drop in an imp and I love it. I wish for MOAR!   Are there any existing Weenies that you have your eye on, but haven't gotten around to getting? I have decants coming.   if you wear earrings, do you have pierced ears? Yes   Are you a gamer (of any sort - video, casual, tabletop) and are there any games you want? I am not a gamer at all, unless you count Words With Friends or Trivial Pursuit.   Would you be interested in BPTP CANDY? depends on what it is.   Would a Starbucks gift card make you happy or do you prefer your local place? Sure, $bux is great.   CUSTOM-Made Pottery?? yea or nay? coffee mugs, rustic or more elegant? a set of bowls? soap dish? bird feeder? something alltogether different? and lastly, good colors for glazes...? YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY! I would love that.   Do you have a forum buddy? Someone who knows you and/or your tastes well enough to answer questions on your behalf? I covered this in thread, but your best bets are invidiana, izile or obsidienne.   If you are on Livejournal, would you appreciate LJ stuff like paid time, custom userheads, stuff like that? If you are NOT on LJ but are on other sites that have similar paid-for services (Flickr, for example?) would you, and what are those sites/etc? Sure! I have been a paid member at flickr for a long time - user name is lissaphoto1. I am an LJ user, but I don't want to pay them as I haven't been that happy with the service lately!   A question, witchees: if you are into tarot, what is your favorite card? I have never done tarot. If my witch wanted to get me some kind of starter set that told me how it all works, I'd be into that.   And another question: would you like your own set of handmade rune stones or worry stones? That is cool, but probably not something I'd use.   Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cider, or none of the above? All of the above (except tea)! For coffee, I do not like fruit flavored or nut flavored blends. All else is a-okay. I have a traditionally coffee maker, no K-cups. I do have a grinder, so beans are fine for me. Cider is awesome and I love any kind of cocoa.   Gum, hard candy, soft candy, or none of the above? Soft candies. Brite Crawlers are totally my kryptonite.   If you like tea, what kinds? I am all tea'd out.   Do you do Goodreads or LibraryThing or a site like that? If so, can I see your to-read list, please? Nope, I do not. Hmm, I linked my read books on my questionnaire, I think. To-reads is a long list - I have a habit of buying more books than I can read at a time! I can try to put them together (maybe). Otherwise, you can always ask sneaky questions to figure it out. There may be some useful answers in the various book swap dead swap cemetary threads.   Zombies; Yay or Nay? Yay!   If you have cats, do they like catnip toys? If you have doggies, would they like a super-reinforced canvas toy with a squeaker in it? I think I put this somewhere, but my kitties love catnip. Arlith gifted me a whole boatload of little kitty toys and the simplest little crocheted balls with catnip are their FAVORITES. More of those would be welcome as they beat the crap out of them.   If you have kids, what are they into? I am childfree by choice.   How do you feel about wearable knitted lace? Shawls, wraps, and the like? I love it - however, my mother is a serious lace knitter and I have several lace knit scarves and wraps, as well as lace knit gauntlets. I do really, really like it thought.   Looking at the warehouse, I notice that our lovely Greenwoodtree is able to do chart readings and/or forecasts at a very reasonable rate. Is this something you would want? One of my previous, most fabulous witches, gifted this to me already!   Songs that you keep meaning to buy but never get round to it? If I want it, I generally buy it. BUT! I welcome new music! For the first time in 1998, I own a car. It has a CD player in it - it does not read mp3s, it does not hook up to my ipod. Dear witch, all of my mix CDs are from 2003 or earlier as they pre-date my first ipod. So, if you want to help me in the music department, I would so appreciate that! Also need something that is easy to get CDs in and out of in the car. Right now, I keep them in the visor and then when I put the visor down, CDs tumble upon me making me swerve and curse at other drivers. And myself. So there you are.   Movies that you love but forgot to put in your questionaire? I think I got them all.   Name one movie you keep meaning to buy, but just never get around to getting? Lord of the Rings. I only have the second one!   Any favorite Bath & Body Works scents/products? I do like the hand soap and could use some for my sink.. I'm open on the flavor.   Haus of Gloi is offering custom perfumes - would you like one? What would your ideal blend be? Hmm, I will have to research that. Something with vanilla and egyptian musk and orchid maybe.   Any Bath, Body or nutritional type items you would love to try from a Natural and Organic food store (similar to Whole Foods) that you don't buy because they are a bit too pricey? Nope.   Tell me of your taste preferences. Dry/sweet? Red/white? Lager/ale/porter/stout? Fruit? Spice? Hops? Sour (brettanomyces, etc)? Mmm, beer, how I do love thee. I prefer sours, brown ales, scottish reds and porters. The only kind of beer that I do NOT like are IPAs. I'm not a huge fan of ESBs either, but that's hit and miss. I love big red and dry white wines. Favorite red are cabernets from California and favorite white is Sancerre (which is basically a drier sauvingnon blanc). I also like chenin blancs very much for whites and merlots and baco noirs very much for reds.   are there any if MeiLin's books (e-book or print) you'd be interested in? Sure - I've not read any.   I'm about to be near a Lush store next week, is there anything you might like from there? No thanks!   Witchee, will you be gone from your normal mailing address at any point during the round? Nope.   Are you a Disney fan or does even thinking about Disney make your head hurt? If you're into Disney, would you like something from the Happiest Place on Earth ? No thanks.   dear witchee, would you, could you use an electric candle warmer? i'm talking something like this. No thanks.   Do you lust after some new socks/tights? I can always use new socks! I like soft ones.     Ninjas or Pirates? Ninjas. Sneakier.   I have an extra room spray and 2 extra bath oils (one Cephalopod, one Exhibit Hall Fatigue) from Dragon*Con - would anybody like a decant? Nope, I had a pick up fairy!   I live near a Mast General Store. It has lots of vintage-y toys, southern foods (jams, jellies, spices) and vintage candy. Is there anything I can get for you? BUFFALO ROCK GINGER ALE.   Do you have any Fall or Halloween traditions? My boyfriend and I usually deep fry a turkey on Thanksgiving.   a) Are you OK with "special deliveries"? Is the address in your questionnaire the best place to reach you for said deliveries? c) If the delivery requires a phone number (as say, some florists do) would you be OK with that information being tracked down by your Witch or asked of you anonymously? Yes, all of that is fine.   Would you be interested in beer, wine, or other specialty beverages from your Witch's area? For sure!   Are there any crafts/skills you've wanted to learn but haven't gotten around to? And if so, would you be interested in supplies and tutorials? Probably no - many of my crafting projects fall by the wayside.   Who here would be happy to get a lil' sumthin sumthin from Adagio Teas? I am more of a coffee drinker.   Do you Ravelry? And if so, what's your handle over there? Would you be interested in gift patterns from your queue? Nope, not on ravelry - although my mom is a moderator over there.   Who likes Pumpkin Spice Hershey Kisses? No thanks.   Put your iPod/MP3 player/what-have-you on random and list the first 10 songs it plays!. 1. Words - Kate Miller-Heidke 2. Always Leaving - Cowboy Mouth 3. Mr. Therapy Man - Justin Nozuka 4. Big Yellow Taxi - Counting Crows 5. Jonathan - Fiona Apple 6. Dirty Little Secret - Kelly Clarkson 7. Black Magic - Magic Wands 8. Rags to Rags - the Eels 9. Save Me San Francisco - Train 10. Not the Doctor - Alanis Morisette   Witchee, what are your favorite quotes? I have a TON. http://la_boheme_.livejournal.com/   But ...   For the first time I actually felt like I owned my skin, like it was me and I was it. - Junot Diaz, The Brief Wonderous Life of Oscar Wao   I am envious - though I'm not sure I'm envious - of those about whom one could write a biography, or who could write their own. In these disconnected impressions, I indifferently narrate my factless autobiography, my lifeless history. They are my Confessions, and if I say nothing in them, it is because I have nothing to say. - Fernando Pessoa   Why is it we want so badly to memorialize ourselves? Even while we're still alive. We wish to assert our existence, like dogs peeing on fire hydrants. We put on display our framed photographs, our parchment diplomas, our silver-plated cups; we monogram our linen, we carve our names on trees, we scrawl them on washroom walls. It's all the same impluse. What do we hope from it? Applause, envy, respect? Or simply, attention, of any kind we can get?   At the very least we want a witness. We can't stand the idea of our voices falling silent finally, like a radio running down.   - Margaret Atwood, The Blind Assassin   What's one random thing you really like and one random thing you really dislike? Dislike: Tuna fish in a can. Like: penguins.   Are there any herbs that you haven't been able to lay hands on that I could send you? There's an herbal shop I really like here in NYC called Flower Powerthat has quite a wide selection. Nope, I'm good.   If there are no "witchy" shops near you, is there anything I can pick up for you from Enchantments? Not much for spiritualism.   Is there a GC scent that's been on your list for ages but keeps falling off the bottom of your order because of the LEs? Hmm, I don't think so. But check my wishlist!   I've been getting into indie nail polish brands recently. What's your favorite indie brand of nail polish? Or what's your favorite mainstream brand of nail polish? Or are you not big on polish? I don't have an indie favortie brand. My favorite is OPI, but I like anything that doesn't clump too much.   Stuffed things: yea or nay? Nay - I have too many already.   mix-in-a-jar? How to you feel about cookie or cake or soup mixes that come in jars and you just add, like, an egg or water or what have you? That would be awesome, and exactly as much as I could reasonably do to cook something.   I live near this very cool Retro store (you can order online too) - are there things from it that would make you squee if your witch sent them? Sure, I love retro stuff.   Some of your favorite artists? Classic and modern? Brassai, Jack Spencer, Michael Kenna, Bernini, Rafal Olbinski, Vassily Kandinsky, Audrey Kawasaki, and so many more.   If you could have an image or certain subject painted for you on any type of "canvas" (on a box, on paper, on a canvas, and so on) - could you point your witch to some of these images? Well, I'd suggest checking out all of the photos of my apartment. I think that the art I have gives a pretty good idea of what I like. I especially like art deco designs.   I live near a Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and Penzeys! What does your little heart desire from any or all of these places? Nah.   Are home made foods acceptable or does the idea of eating strange mailed food disturb you? Bring on the strange.   I just gave you $20 and sent you into a "has everything" store ala Walmart and told you that you have to come out having spent it all, and none of it on anything you need. What would you buy? Be as specific as possible! Well, I don't shop at walmart. But I'd probably buy little office supplies (sticky notes, pens, pads of paper and the like) and maybe some shower gel.   What kind of cuisines do you like? (I mentioned this in my ?aire but curious what my witch may like)And, what are your favorite restaurants? I am not picky - I like just about everything. The only thing I really don't eat is fast food, and I don't really like most large chain restaurants unless I'm on a road trip. I prefer smaller, more independent places.   I'm from Canada - is there anything specifically a witchee might like that is only available here? Coffee crisp   what are your "fandoms" and would you like a t-shirt from TeeFury if an appropriate one came up? Oh hey, I think I answered this question in the thread! But I usually buy my own if I like it so better stay away.   Do you have an eReader and if so which one? I have an iPad, but I never read books on it.   Do you like candles, or tart burners, or something? If so, what's your favorite scent to burn? I don't have a tart burner, but I do like candles. I like all kinds of scents, but prefer soy candles whenever possible. In the fall, I especially like baking kinds of scents.   Marzipan? Yes, in moderation.   Would you be interested in washable/reusable muslin “paper” towels (basically muslin squares hemmed around the edge)? Maybe in some sort of box to put on your kitchen or bathroom counter? Definitely! That would be awesome.   Do you drink alcohol and if so, would you be OK with your witch sending you homemade infused vodka? Also, does your state allow alcohol to be shipped through the mail? I absolutely do drink alcohol, Michigan is generous with their alcohol shipping laws and I'd happily sample some infused vodkas or any other alcoholic beverage you might want to send my way.   If you get me (or a fellow Aussie, if there are any playing this round) as a witch or witch's minion, would you like to try some Australian specialties, such as TimTams (delicious chocolately cookies), Caramello Koalas (koala shaped chocolates filled with gloopy caramel), Australian native spices or anything like that? TIMTAMS NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM. I LOVE them. LOVE.   If your witch is a knitter, crocheter or sewer, is there a particular type of garment you would love to receive (hat, scarf, wrap, cowl, socks, fingerless gloves, arm warmers etc)? Hats! I only have one. Fingerless gloves are great too.   Is there anyone else in your house (kids, pets, partner) that would really appreciate a small gift being included for them in the switchwitchy haul so they don't feel left out? The kittehs always love their gifts. I think arlith made me a bunch of cat toys once and they love those toys more than any other toy in the world!   Since it's been mentioned several times, and I've also offered to nacho witch some, would you you like to receive wild rice and or maple syrup? I promise to include recipe ideas with the wild rice. Definitely.   I have 5 bushels of tomatoes sitting in the kitchen right now that are supposed to turn into red sauce tomorrow, so would anyone like a basic red sauce (spaghetti sauce) to make its way to them? I'm not so big on tomatoes, so it depends how spiced it is.   How would you feel about a taste of (insert witch location here) box Sure! Gifts of food are never amiss.   Last year, my wonderful witch Alethia adopted a bat for me from batworld.org, a bat rescue and sanctuary. Bat's World Would you be interested in having a bat adopted in your name? Sure! I love that kind of stuff.   Do you like s'mores and s'mores-flavored things? Yes!   What's the neatest freebie you've gotten? It can be cool or thoughtful or just totally unexpected, and not limited to BPALdom. An etsy seller once included a bonus pair of earring with my order! I thought that was pretty awesome.   Would you enjoy receiving cute but useful items like colorful kitchen utensils/gadgets, or bento supplies? (boxes, chopsticks, accessories, etc?) What about things like spice mixes (homemade, or Penzey's for example) Sure, I like all of that stuff. Maybe not so much with the spices as I have a lot and not a lot of space.   Do you like cute, seasonal or fluffy PJ bottoms? Like they sell at Target, Old Navy (they have had cute Halloween ones!) If so, what size do you wear? Yes - XXL.   What kind of chocolate do you like? Nuts, no nuts, white, dark, etc? ALL NOM NOM NOM. White is my favorite, followed by milk. Nuts is my least favorite, but if you give it to me, I will do it justice.

Fall SW 2011 Help! Part the Second

Is there anything you'd like from the Mütter Museum Store? There is nothing that seriously jumps out at me, but I haven't looked thoroughly. Some of the keychain string monsters are cute!   I just noticed that Cocoa Pink has 5 ml Perfume Atomizers. Yay or nay? Scents you would like? Scents you would NOT like? No thanks. STOP ENABLING ME PEOPLE.   If you're interested in a handmade pouch/cover for an item you have (phones, tablets, books, keys, kettles...), what would your ideal pouch/cover have? Design, material, additional functionality/features like pockets or lights or secret hidey-holes? I already said my ideal cover would be for my wireless keyboard. Something soft and protective would be best, in a fun/bold pattern. No weepy pastels for me!   Would you like a photo collage based around your interests/favorite colors/favorite themes? No thanks.   If you're crafty, are you interested in spoonfeather? And if so, what things there delight your eyes? I am not cool enough to know what this is.   Colors! What are your favorite colors and what colors do you not like? Pictures and links, people! I like bright, bold colors. I posted some photos from my apartment in the thread.   What is your favorite word? schedenfreude, for meaning. Sonorous of effluvium for sound.   What are the feelings on arm warmers? Color, style, texture, length? Sure - I like them to go from the middle of my palm and up past my elbow. Dark color, soft wool is best. Think gothic knits.   Do you like tarts? tealights? jar candles? votives? No tea lights please. I like soy candles in a jar best.   What's your favorite flavor? Sour, sweet, bitter, salty? Mmmm, sweet.   So, are there any online gaming witchees who covet purchasable in-game items or other gamer-y stuff? (yup, geek question) No thanks.   Anyone doing anything cool for Mabon (or the start of fall, if you aren't pagan? Sadly no.   What is your favorite coffee blend at Starbucks? If you don't have one, what is your favorite roast of coffee? My favorite coffee EVAR is Kenya AA roast.   Witchee, have you made (or are you planning to make) any Lab or Trading post orders soon? And if you did (or plan to), you should share what you're getting I ordered from BPTP. I got: both atmosphere sprays, Crypt King, and the Pumpkin Oatmeal Stout soap. I ordered from the lab. I got ... a lot. Blood Moon 2011, Le Revenant,The Golden Apple of the Sun, Halloween: Las Vegas, and The Glittering Apple of the Stars.   Are you scientifically curious and/or process-oriented? Would you like a project-type gift that allowed you do do something like make soap from scratch, take and (nontoxic-ly) develop photographs using a pinhole camera, use plant dyes on yarn or fabric, etc.? That would be lovely.   What's 'your' song/your theme song? Evolve, Ani Difranco.   What would be your superpower? teleportation, so I could go anywhere.   Witchee, would you like a gently used BPAL tshirt? No thanks.   Do you like homemade snack mixes? I know Puppy Chow was mentioned in a previous question, but what about healthier and more natural type snacks like granola or trail mix? You can put a lot of delicious and fun things into trail mix, yeah? If you say "Sure, I'd love some!" what kinds of things do you like/not like in those kinds of snacks, ie coconut flakes, raisins, certain nuts (allergies??), candy, etc. Give us your list of DO's and DON'Ts! Sure, I'd love some! My only "dont's" are raisins - I'm not a big raisin fan. I also prefer honey roasted peanuts to just plain salted ones. Otherwise, anything is good.   Do you like charm bracelets? If you had a bracelet, what sort of charms would you want on it? Favorite hobbies, symbols, whatever? No thanks on the charm bracelet. My mom started a charm bracelet "for me" when I was 5. She now has three or four bracelets filled with charms from places we've been. Someday that will be mine and that is plenty.   3 things for under $20 that I really, really want and maybe haven't mentioned....: It's funny, because I've totally been thinking of things recently that I wanted to mention!   (1) A non-disposable coffee sleeve (I may have added a couple to my etsy wishlist a while back). The cafeteria at work is frequently out of them and then I feel guilty for double cupping. And/or good coffee to-go cup. The one I have now is too small and difficult to clean. Witch, if I purchase from Starbucks, I order either grande or sometimes venti. My current to-go cup is about the size of a tall. Okay, that's 2 things, but they're related, so I'm making them one. So there!   (2) Some new, cute, kitchen dishtowls as mine are so sad and raggedy. Preferably not in white.   (3) A soap dish for my bathroom that lets the water drain. My nice bars of soaps that I like for hand washing turn into a gloppy mess because they sit in water in my current soapdish.   So who else watched Babylon 5? My dad did, but not me.   If you had to decide what your stripper name was, what would it be? Depends on the algorithm, but mine would be Cat De La Cruz.   Sooooo Witchees, have you ever taken that particular personality test? If so, are you an Analytical, a Driver, an Expressive or an Amiable? Expressive   Is anyone else afraid of or creepy out by dummies/puppets/Muppets/etc? Other things you're squicked/freaked by that's best left by the wayside? There is really nothing for me that fits this category. I am not easily made uncomfortable. Unless you're going to send, like, ... vomit in the mail? Something like that maybe.   what level of contact were you hoping for? Medium to close - witch, you are doing fine!   Witchee, would you like anything from this particular Haunt update? I bought all the things. For serious. But I'm always happy for backups, particularly in the glossing oils and scrubs! And I didn't get any of the whipped butters or perfume oils.   Who's interested in Halloween: Montreal? I've resisted a decant circle so far, but definitely interested!   how do you feel about hemp? jewelry, soap, etc? I have no particular feeling. Not so much into the jewelry just because it is not my style.   What's your favorite classic fairytale, witches Puss in boots.   say you stumbled into Camp Half Blood (or whatever the Roman camp ends up being named <bounces in anticipation>), which god claims you? I don't know what this means.   JONES SODA CO has LE soda packs for The Guild, Buffy, D&D, So Cute, etc. Would you be interested in these, Witchee? Hee, those are fun. I don't really need them though; I would drink the soda and recycle.   What about little wee creatures for your desk or mantel? I favorited some on etsy. Those as way cute!   how do you feel about ethical animal fiber, i.e. wool and the like? Yeah, I bought a sheepskin rug at IKEA, so....   Is it just me who is nervous at revealing herself to her witchee, and finding out who her witch is?! I was my first round, but now I'm not anymore. I know I love my witch and I'm sure my witchee will love me.   What kind of purse do you prefer? Leather, cloth? over the shoulder or crossbody, or something that can do either? Do you like bold bright prints with fun things, or monochrome, solid colours? I prefer solid colors and cross body strap, but I also like patterned clutches. I don't know, I just love purses. I've favorited a ton in my etsy favorites.   What kind of bear is best? A bear with CLAWS and FANGS.   Is anyone interested in reading The Night Circus? Added to my w/l.   Do you drink wine? yes please.   Hershey's Pumpkin Spice kisses? yes please.   Would you be interested in regional jams, jellies, or other preserves? yes, please!   I recently saw candy corn in non-candy corn flavors like CHOCOLATE and CARAMEL APPLE. It's not a fancy brand, I just saw it in the drugstore, but who here would like something like that? Hmm, maybe not. Candy corn is hit and miss for me.   Is there any cheesy/non-cheesy Canadian stuff you'd be interested in? Coffee crisp.   Kerchiefs? I don't wear them.   I have a not-so-secret love for The Broship of the Rings. Are there any prints from her store you'd like? I don't know what this is and I fear looking it up.   Who here likes Stephanie Pui-Min Law's artwork? Not my thing (I had to look it up).   Is there anything you're wanting from LPMP? QUIT ENABLING ME.   Witches, did you lament NOT getting one of the condom case/imp cases that got released with the courtesan series??? Nope, not at all actually.   Do you have any bedtime rituals? Is there any particular product you have to apply or a certain shirt you wear or an act you perform to get you in the "bedtime" mood? Not really. I do tend to slather myself in some kind of smelly (glossing oil, lotion) before bed. But that is all.   It's the weekend, and you find yourself without a single chore or responsibility for a few hours. Right this very moment, what's the one thing you would do if you could do anything? Watch my DVR!   Are you interested in anything in the latest round of Lab auctions on eBay? Black Lace Proto (HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA)   What favorite song(s) would you think would translate into a cool or unique scent? Fifteen Feet of Pure White Snow - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. But I like snow scents. Some on yules!   Anyone interested in VApothecary's Halloween update? MUST NOT LOOK.   Interested in anything from the Beaver Moon Lunacy update? I ordered a decant of the scent with wax in it, but otherwise.... not really. Lots of clunker notes for me. It's all for the best.   I sent you with $20 into a drugstore/Walmart (nothing too fancy/imported/expensive, just your average selection), and you are restricted only to the candy aisle. What would you blow it on? chocolate in all forms - chocolate kisses, chocolate MnMs, ... or, and some bright crawlers. I can't help it, I love them. I'm, like, 12 years old. What is your favorite kind of cookie? White Chocolate macadamia nut.   How many boxes are you hoping for? as many as my witch wants to send! I have no hopes for things like that.   How do you feel about loose leaf tea in baggies? I mean, I have a TON of loose leaf, would it be okay if I send you samples in some zip lock baggies? Or is that something that would squick you out? I'm not a big tea person, but if you have something you think I'd like, that's fine. It does not bother me. Actually, Truelove sent me the most awesome tea that she gets locally in the coffee swap that I LOVED. Just the right blend of herbs. Maybe it's not that I don't like tea, but that I'm not drinking the right tea (ponders). How would you feel about getting a custom poster with your favorite quote on it and some cool graphics? I'm an architecture student and can print posters (provided I make them) at pretty much any size using Adobe Illustrator at a low price. Also if you would be interested in this, what quotes would you like? Sure, that would be fun. Check my quote journal: username la_boheme_ @ livejournal   Is there anything you would want from NYCC, something you'd like your witch to ask me to pick up? I'm in NYCC, so that's not necessary. The best thing I ever ate...:This is a TIE. My BF and I are quasi-foodies (We are not obsessed with food and will happily eat whatever, but both of us enjoy the fine dining experience). Best thing #1 is the rabbit ravioli from Alize in Las Vegas. But it's been several years since I had it, and the memory is fading. Best thing #2 (which I have eating twice in the last four months) is the truffled polenta at Scarpetta in NYC (Scott Conant's restaurant, for those Food Network aficionados). BEST. DISH. EVER.   Do you like liquorice? If so, hard or soft? Sweet or salt? Normally salted or so salt it pulls your face into a fishy shape? And which shapes do you like? Not a hug fan, unless it's the usual red twizzlers. Sorry, I am boring that way.   Do you like listening to audiobooks? Would you like to receive one, and if you would, what sort of audiobook would you like--or is there a particular audiobook you've been meaning to get? No thank you.   Do you own a DSLR camera? Are you interested in a minky camera strap like these? What about anything from Photojojo? I DO own a DSLR and I am happy for any camera accessories. If you check my various websites, you can probably get a good idea of what I already have.   Is anybody else into film photography? Interested in receiving film, supplies, etc from Lomography? YES YES YES. Medium format in particular. But Lomography is quite expensive - there are much cheaper vendors. ANY medium format film is appreciated.   Does anyone else like collector Barbies?\ No thanks.   What small everyday items would you like, that you keep forgetting to get? A large spatula, barbeque tongs, dish towels, soap dish   Tarot Not for me. For those of you that like candles, do you like stuff from Yankee Candle? And if you had to choose, tarts or candles? I think I covered this, but I am not a Yankee Candle fan really.   Reveal? Yes, please! I hope?   Would you be interested in the #occupywallstreet scent? I totally already bought this.   If you're the MMU type of Witchee, what Geek Chic Cosmetics tickle your fancy? No thanks.   Nocturne Alchemy's NAlloween Pt. 2 update is live here! (And for a few days, last month's update too.) What do you want? I'm still testing out their GC catalogue - not ready to branch into their LEs!   Have you seen the Lush holiday update? Do you like the look of anything from there? No thanks.   Is there anything you want to buy yourself but have been too embarrassed (R rated or pg)? Shame? What's that?   if you were my witchee, would you want some of my hot nuts my candied nuts my nuts covered in butter and brown sugar candied walnuts? Yum, nuts. Absolutely.   Is there a movie you want so badly that you don’t own now? It's not a movie, but I really want more Buffy and Angel seasons. I'm happy with used!

Fall SW 2011 Help!

WISHLIST HELP: BPAL: http://www.bpal.org/topic/127-wishlist/page__st__1900__p__1566904#entry1566904 AMAZON: http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/1OASHS9ZEEHNF/ref=cm_sw_su_w ETSY: http://www.etsy.com/people/effluere/favorites   social media: I covered this pretty well in my ?aire, since I'm probably the most stalkable of stalkable people since my internet presence goes back to 1998 (eep!). I have different user names in different places to make it a little more difficult for the creep-os to find me. My LJ name is sophiawestern (you can find me on SnS and BPAL Marketplace!) and I am a relatively active updater. I mean no offense to anyone, but if you don't really update your journals, I probably won't friend you back. However, if you are a good updater, I probably will. Does this make sense? I've found a bunch of great LJ friends through BPAL, so don't be shy!   Nail polish: I have recently been getting back into nail polish. I mostly do my toes, so any kind of crazy fun wacky colors are good for me. Right now, I am wearing OPI Tulip.   Is there a quote (or lyric or part of a poem) that really resonates with you or is your favorite?: Shit, I totally forgot one of my multudinous journals! http://users.livejou...com/la_boheme_/ But here is a current favorite, or at least something I am aspiring to:   For the first time I actually felt like I owned my skin, like it was me and I was it. - Junot Diaz, The Brief Wonderous Life of Oscar Wao   Weenies: Dear future witch, I have no impulse control and I will not be able to resist joining decant circles in a crazed, feverish haze of scent addiction. What I will list are the scents that went on my maybe list - these are ones that I would love to try - even just a 1/4 decant! - but I wasn't sure enough of to purchase the decants. Those are: Araw Ng Mga, A Nocturne Reverie, Autumn Cider, Askalophos, The Changeling, Expressive Head, Nightmare, Sentimental Initiation, The Gorobble, The Zoom, and The Wiley Grasser. Yes, I have a problem, but I'm not afraid to admit it.   Dream candle? Scent, color, type (tealight, votive, pillar, jar, etc.), throw.: I am somewhat candle-picky (sorry dear witch/warlock-o-mine). I do not have a tart burner and I don't love using tealights because they run out so fast. I really like candles in jars, and I LOVE soy candles. I find soy candles to be cleaner burning and hold a richer, less plastic smelling scent. My three favorite candles are an apple struedel soy candle from an art festivals in PA, a lavender-sandalwood candle by Candle Lite and a lemon scented soy candle made locally in WI, gifted to me by the fabulous lucyboo in one swap or another. I do not like yankee candle - they all smell too fake to me. See, I told you I was candle picky.   Do you like knitted goodies? If so, what would you like and what colors? Love them, and love jewel tones. I would adore some fingerless mitts or a cowl scarf.   homemade edibles? The way to my heart is through my stomach. And I am not picky and have no dietary restrictions.   What GC do you live in mortal terror of the lab discontinuing, but never get around to buying? My boyfriend always clears out my GC wishlist for my birthday and Christmas, so I don't think there is anything that I would be desperately heartbroken about not having. Maybe Sheol or Cobra Lily. Cobra Lily has long been a favorite since I started with this crazy addition. I have a roller bottle with 4 imps, but no proper bottle.   Yo, yarnies! Do you Ravelry? If so, who are you over thar? I am not, but my mom is! She is VickiTal over there and she has the mad skillz.   Do you have a non-BPAL wishlist? Yes, it is with my BPAL wishlist.   What is your favorite animal? Penguin, but I ask that the penguin paraphernalia be limited to some degree. For a while I was overwhelmed by penguin stuff being piled on top of me by well-meaning family members. If you see something truly extraordinary, do it. Otherwise, pass on it.   What are you going to be for Halloween? I don't know. I don't do the dress up thing too often anymore. I usually wear a black dress and plop on my witches hat. I kind of wanted to buy a corset (baby's first corset, aww) and do something gothic/medieval themed, but I'm trying to lose weight so I don't want to buy a corset right now. But I've always wanted one because I think I have just the right figure for it (I am an extreme hourglass). Boobage - I haz it.   Witchee, do you use a PC or a Mac? PC and iPad. So .... yes.   If you could have a piece of oil painting jewelry (pendant, pair of earrings, or ring) with absolutely anything painted on it, what would it be? (If you prefer wall art instead, same question as above.) For painted jewelry, I typically like something simple and striking, like dead trees on a red background.   How do you feel about nick-knacks? I like them if they are really special. I living in an apartment in Manhattan, so I don't have a ton of room for such things, but I make room for the truly awesome.   What traditions (family, holiday, or otherwise) are important to you? Is it bad that I can't think of an answer for this question?   Do you like going to the movies? Yes, very much!   What are your favorite restaurants? I admit that I'm kind of a foodie, so truly my two favorite restaurants are Scarpetta and Aquavit in New York. I don't eat fast food at all, mostly because I don't have to because of where I live. I prefer deli sandwiches to McDonalds and there are delis all over the place. I have fond memories of the Unos by my old apartment in Washington DC where my roommate and I would split chicken tenders. If I'm on a road trip, I always ask to stop at Applebees of Friendlys.   Do you play any video games? I have a Wii, but I mostly use it for exercise related stuff and streaming netflix.   Do you like any anime? Not into it.   Do you have an E-reader/iPad/something similar that you need a cover/case for? Nope. Well, I have an iPad, but I already have a case. Actually, what I could really use a case for is the wireless keyboard the mac makes. It is 11" x 6" x 1".   how much do you like jewelry? like, if you were to get a shit ton of it during the round, how excited would you be? Holy crap, I love jewelry. LOVE JEWELRY. Witch, you will never go wrong if you get me jewelry, I promise you.   How would you like to receive some of your Witch's favorite recipes, tailored to your likes/dietary restrictions? And specific wants? Sure, I've been really trying to cook more. I prefer things that are simple and delicious as I rarely have much time and I definitely don't have a lot of skill.   Do you need any boxes to store your smellies in? What would you store in said hypothetical box--imps, bottles, supplies, all of the above? I have plenty of boxes for BPAL - could use another box for jewelry though.   Muppets: yea or nay? My favorite is Rizzo the rat.   Do you have an affinity for Calvin and Hobbes, Peanuts, The Far Side, and other comic strips? If so, which is your favorite? I love the Far Side. I pepper my lectures with the caveman and primate cartoons.   Favorite Mythological Creature? Dragons were always my favorite growing up.   Do you like hair things barrettes, headbands, flowers ... My hair rejects all paraphernalia except simple elastic bands.   Do you like to burn incense? If so, what are your favorite kinds...sticks? cones? resins? What are your favorite scents? I prefer candles.   Harry Potter - a fan? If so, what house are you? Harry Potter FTW! And I would totally be in Gryffindor.   If you were to receive a gift card, what places would you like to get one from? For SW, online places are great. Sock Dreams or the Soap Box Company would be super awesome.   If you RP, tabletop, forum, or otherwise... Do you have any original characters you'd like to see art of? If so, please give information! Even if it's a link to a web page or a profile or picture! My role playing days are long behind me.   If you could see anything, what would it be? Can be a person, an event, a landmark or monument, an object, etc. And it doesn't have to be on this planet, or in this time period, or in this reality! I have been fortunate in this life to visit so many of the places that I have always wanted to go. The city of Venice always captured my imagination and when I made in there in 2007, it almost made me want to cry (from happiness, of course!). I would like to go back in time to see the medieval period. It's so romanticized and I would love to see the real stinking, dirty thing.   Is there a particular myth/folktale/legend/fairytale/godstory that you're drawn to? I'm with yewberry - I like the grrrlpower myths and legends. My personal favorite is the legend of Hua Mulan. Before Disney ever made a movie of it, I read Maxine Hong Kingston's retelling of the legend in the book Woman Warrior, and I fell in love.   When you are having a really rough day, what do you like to do/have to make it a little brighter? A really awesome cup of coffee and one of my "comfort re-reads" (books that I go to when I'm bummed out) always makes me feel better. As I said last SW round, there is something about reading a book that I've read a million times before that makes me feel relaxed and happy. My "comfort re-reads" include the Dark Tower series, The Mage Winds Trilogy (Mercedes Lackey), The Hero and the Crown (Robin McKinley), Blue Moon Rising (Simon R. Green), the Deathstalker series (Simon R. Green), and Harry Potter.   What are your thoughts on comics? Any you like? Any you have been wanting to try? Favorite characters? I'm not too big on comic books, although I do have (and am reading) all of the Angel comics. I only have the first compilation of the Buffy comics, but I want to read those too. I am also reading the Dark Tower comics (borrowed from a friend). I like comics that take characters and stories I already know and put them in graphic novel form.   Are you musical? Do you play an instrument, and if so, what? If not, what do you wish you could play or do? I used to play the flute and the piano. I mean, technically I still do, but I have let my musical talents wane. I still occasionally play the piano.   Does anyone garden? And if you do, what do you grow? If not, would a starter garden kit be something you'd be interested in?My backyard and apartment get very little light, so plants are pretty much do0med.   Do you decorate for Halloween? Is your decorating taste elegant, kitschy and fun, or scary? I do not decorate for Halloween.   Is anyone fond of programs like Adopt a Tree/Highway/Library/Manatee/Acre of Rainforest/etc?: I am picky about my conservation groups because I know so many people who are involved with conservation efforts around the world - and I like almost all of these Adopt-A- groups. The money is usually clearly earmarked and actually goes directly do the cause. Peek-A-Boo is my favorite! I used to "Adopt-A-Penguin" through the SF Zoo, which was one of their programs to raise money for the upkeep of the animals there. The bat adoption website looks ADORABLE and I heart bats very much. Here is my blathery side-note: There is a restaurant/bar/prostitute hook up place (it is each of these things depending on what time you go) in Dar es Salaam where you can watch the birds all fly across at sunset in a huge group and the fruit bats fly out also in a huge group. The only way you can tell the difference is the shape of their wings. I took a video! http://what-now.org/remote/MOV00832.MPG I hear there is someplace in Austin, TX where you can see the same. Okay, blathery side note ended.     Witchee, do you have any symbols or totems that have special meaning for you? Not really. I'll think about this more.   are you interested in anything from the Villainness Bad Apples update? Yes, these are EXACTLY the kind of candles I like. All of those sound lovely. I'll pass on the soap though.   What #1 actor, director, author and/or musician are you obsessed with? I don't really get obsessed with actors and stuff that often. But I guess my favorite actress is Kate Winslet. I already covered favorite authors. My musical taste is eclectic and my "favorites" shit like sand.   If you have a pet, would he/she/they like to receive a treat or a toy as a gift? Does your pet have any dietary restrictions or other preferences w.r.t. said treat? The kittehs love toys and treats. And so do the chickens! And they will eat anything.   What are your top three "I want to try them but I think I'll never get to try them" (or, "I've tried them and I want moar moar moar, but I don't think I'll ever get any") scents/bath oils/sprays? For me, it's Elf v4 (I have a testable sniffie and it is oh so wonderful - I desperately want more - this is my #1 BPALicorn right now!), Hellion (have v2 and I am super curious about the original) and the Sakura room spray.   Is there a particular artist and piece that you would like a print of? If so, what is your max size that you could spare on your walls? I prefer original art. If you are an artist, I promise I will lovingly frame and hang anything you make for me.   If you are in to beauty and makeup related stuff, what kind of stuff do you like? What is your skintone and hair color? Are there any beauty products you've wanted to try but just never purchase? I have blonde hair and skin with yellow undertones. I tend to keep at least a slight tan on my arms and face year round. Make up is fun, but I don't experiment that much. So, I guess, I welcome boring makeup!   Do you like coffee or tea? Would you be interested in trying some different types? I love me some coffee. Any time, anywhere. Tea is okay - I prefer fruit flavored ones.   Are there any CDs/Albums you've been wanting but haven't bought yet? What format do you prefer? (i.e. mp3, actual cd, record, etc) check my amazon wishlist, there are some CDs on there. I take music in all formats other than record.   Are you going away for any part of this round? Yes, I'll be out for a weekend in October and in November, but I'll make sure and let you know ahead of time when I've decided to go.   Would you like to receive a mix-CD from your Witch? Yes yes yes, love them!   Do you enjoy any outdoor activities? Do you have a favorite form of "exercise"? (keep it clean, all!) I like hiking a lot.   Any witchee's with a ravelry account have any favourited patterns that cost money that would be a welcome gift? I am not a yarnee.   Witchee, are you a fan of musicals? If so, which ones? I love them all! DBF works in the theater industry, so I get to see a lot of them. Some of my favorites include: Ragtime, Catch Me If You Can, My Fair Lady, Chicago, Aida, Fiddler on the Roof, Annie Get Your Gun, and Les Miserables. I know this is heresy, but one of my least favorite musicals is Wicked. (meep!) I also love the opera - after all, an opera is just a musical with subtitles. And live animals! And fire! And big costumes! And people still dress up! (Yes, it bothers me that - at least in New York - a Broadway musical is no longer a dress up event. When I growing up, we always dressed up for plays and musicals. It's just a sign of respect.)   I am fond of the thrift. Do you mind lightly used goods? Please be specific! For instance, I'm a little squicked by used clothing, but I don't mind any other used goods (i.e. books, glassware, games, DVDs, whatever.)   Would a gift or a postcard from Disneyland make you squee with delight or puke into your mail box? Sure, that would be great! I love all postcards.   How do you like your chocolate? For example with nuts, mint, peanut butter, caramel? Yes.   what are your favorite types of Halloween candy? I like all of the chocolate minis. And the bright crawler worms!   Do you prefer soap or shower gel? Please give examples of your favorite scents or brands. Shower gel and scrubs - I think I've covered this already?   Beads! Do you use them? Would you want some? What sorts of beads do you like? No thanks!   anyone like anything in particular from Think Geek? I love all kinds of Think Geekery - the Ninja Bread Men, and of the science toys, some of the molecules.... It's all so much fun.   Anyone here like caramels? Sea salted caramels?!?! NOM NOM NOM.   Would you like a hand dyed or hand painted scarf or wrap or other item? If so, what colors/designs/fabrics do you like? Yes, that would be fabulous. I like jewel tones and blacks and browns. Design I am open on.   This was a question before, but does anyone here like stones? Just pretty polished stones for use in whatever purposes? I like naturally tumbled shells.   Do you work/study at a desk and enjoy interesting or cute office supplies? Yes! I always love little cute postit notes and papers to write on.   e-readers: I prefer paper, thank you!   stuff for the kidlets: This is covered in my ?aire, but I am child-free by choice.   Would you be interested in a felted handbag? Do any of these styles appeal to you? http://tinyurl.com/3o2epzl Ooh, yes please! I love bags. These are my favorites: Simple, flared handbag. Structured bag with bamboo handles and infinite decorative possibilities. Gathered bag with long shoulder strap and flap closure. Simple square bag with lots of decorative possibilities. Unisex courier-style satchel. Strappy bag with chevron striping.   Witchee, would you be interested in having a special tea cup/coffee mug/glass to drink out of? Sure! I like them to be relatively large (12-16oz.) and feel good in the hand. Otherwise, sky is the limit.   Are there are patterns, motifs, etc that you especially like? I like geometric shapes a lot, in all kind of patterns.   If you're a tea drinker, is there any specific tea you would like to receive, not just the kind/flavor but also the type/packing--i.e., tea bags, loose tea, compressed, etc? I do like tea and I know this is bad, but I favor tea bags. Or loose tea with the little bags you can put it in. As far as teas, I think I said this above but I like fruit teas, lapsang, and some flower teas. I do NOT like green tea, unless it is just a base for something else that is more delicious.   In answer to the question about dressing up: I posted this over on the GUSP thread a while back. I love dressing up, and I go to a fair number of formal events since my SO is in the theater industry. However, sometimes dress shopping can be very traumatic for me. The last formal event I went to was in April. Let me tell you - it is frigging HARD to find an age appropriate dress for a 31 year old woman during prom season. Everything was mother of the bride or sequins and puffy skirts. I finally found this dress which I ended up loving.... even if I was one of the few people braving a color! (I took this image in the dressing room while I was trying on, so don't mind the bra straps!)   I don't think I have a photo of myself in my last opening night dress, but I did post the photo of the dress. This is my favorite formal dress that I've ever worn - far out stripping my ugly 1998 prom dress. This dress should have made my look 8x my size because of the horizontal banding, but it has the mojo. When I put it on in the dressing room, three total strangers told me I had to buy it because it looked so good. AND I repurposed it for a goth/industrial night here in New York. A velvet jacket, appropriate shoes and jewelry and a head piece makes this not bad for rocking the goth. It is a little snug right now - must work on that!   How would you feel about kitchen towels and other similar household objects, if they are pretty or a souvenir? I do not have a dishwasher, so all kitchen towels get beat up fast. I do need more, but "pretty" is probably lost on me.   puzzles: Love them. Love jigsaw puzzles. Love crossword puzzles. I only like sudoku on the computer where I don't have to erase all of my little numbers. Love logic puzzles. Love love love.   How about little bottles of booze? Ya wanna? What kind? yes please! Any kind, especially new and different stuff. I like to experiment!   Can you sum yourself (whether it be personality, life's goals, ethics, whatever) in 10 words or less? Nope.   What are your views on fudge and brownies? (Also, if you live in a warm place, where the fudge might melt, that'd be helpful to know. Or, if you're diabetic and fudge is death, that'd be useful to know, too.) NOM NOM NOM.   Also, what about mochi? Love it, hate it, baffled by it? I love mochi. I like the white kind the best - I get it on my pinkberry!   What looks interesting in the BPTP update? I may have already ordered a bunch of stuff. BUT! I am interested in Fruitbat Fruitbat, Sugar Spectre and the Beer bath oils. And the SGA soap!   Does anyone like kimchi? Not this person.   Would you be interested in a sample box(from somewhere like Birchbox or loosebutton)? I actually just signed up for Birchbox. I'd be interested in any of these.   You have to place a Lab and Trading Post order. Right fuckin' now. No spending limits. What do you buy? I ... I just don't know. My impulse control is very bad and I have a lot of things that I wanted straight of the bat from the lab - now I just wait for my decants. From the post, I'd buy all of the LE bath oils, Snake Oil, Honey and White Sandalwood and Fig hair glosses, both of the LE t-shirts, Gertrude Dix Atmosphere spray, Morocco bath oil, SGA soap and and and .... :: hyperventilates ::   Paintbox Soapworks - anything you're interested in, in general or from the latest update? I love the Sorbettos - Guy Fawkes, Man in the Moon, Gingermilk, Big in Japan. Luff.   Do you guys have any sports that you follow obsessively? How about favorite teams and/or athletes. Sports. Those are the things with the balls and the courts and the sticks and stuff, right?   How do you feel about notebooks/journals/stationery? Anything you need or particularly like? I like them, but I don't get so much use out of them. I prefer post its or other little note papers as I write myself notes and tape them/stick them all over my desk both at home and at work.   Does confetti/glitter make you angry or fill you with glee? Neither. I am glitter-ambivalent.   How do you feel about stuffed animals/plushies/general soft, cuddly things? If you like them, what kind of animals would you be interested in? I like them, but have no space. If you see something truly fabulous, then go for it. Examples of truly fabulous plushies I have received: a woolly mammoth beanie baby, one of the evolving pushies from Think Geek, a gigantic brontosaurus, a stuff guenon (type of monkey).   Fabulous witches and witchees, perhaps you all could note of you've received MeiLin's goodies? Or if you want? I would take either cookbook or any of the stories.   how interested would you be on somewhat personalized bottle cap labels? I am a little OCD and I have my own system of labelling. Thanks though! Tea, my masai blanket and streaming netflix because: (1) tea sooths the throat; (2) the first time I went to Africa, I got malaria (yes, I took the best, newest, shiniest drugs, no they are not 100% effective) and spent the better part of a week huddled and shivering under that blanket I bought. But I got better! And nothing could be worse than that. Seriously, nothing; (3)there is nothing that passes the time than watching 13 straight hours of some television show or other on Netflix. And if I happen to be visiting my family, my mom. I don't think I ever appreciated my mom taking care of me until I moved out of the house I grew up in.   What constitutes ultimate luxury to you? (go crazy!) A trip to a fabulous city where I stay in a 5 star hotel and eat in only the best restaurants.   What do you really NOT want? I think I've covered this well in my survey, but please no soap or things that can only be used in the bath. I only have a short bath tub and I am tall, so they never get used (like bath bombs and bubble bath). Soap tends to really dry out my skin and I have more bars than I could ever use for my guest bath and hand washing.   interested in anything from Lush? I love their Ocean Spray scrub, but it is quite expensive I think.   Do you blog? Would you like a header for your blog, a layout, etc? I do blog - the links are way up above. If you think you can make something that fits my aesthetic, I'm all for it. But make sure you look carefully at my aesthetic first because I'm a little web page picky and I wouldn't want you to put time into making something that I don't end up using!   do you like chex puppy chow or muddie buddies (ingredients: semi-sweet chocolate chips, PB, vanilla extract, powdered sugar, chex cereal)? EAT ALL THE THINGS.   Would you be interested in a handmade bookmark? Sure!   How would you feel about receiving a Groupon deal for something in your local area? If there is anything you WOULDN'T like, mention that also. Probably not a good idea, unless you map the item and see that it is near my house. I have no car and some things in NYC are farther apart than you'd think.   Are you more prone to order out or cook at home? Would you be interested in cookbooks, kitchen utensils, and the like? If so, anything specific? I am prone to order out, but I'm trying to cook more at home. Cookbooks and fun kitchen utensils would certainly be welcome. Particularly since my boyfriend is/was the cook in our household and he is in the process of moving out and took a lot of our fancier cooking things with him.   sugar skulls: Sure! I've never had one.   Star Wars?: I've seen all of the movies, but I'm not a rabid fan. They are fun and I enjoyed them but that is as far as it goes.   Dr. Who: never watched it.   Buffy/Angel: So. Much. Love.   Do you wear t-shirts? Are there particular things you like on them? Would you like one designed by your Witch? And, if you don't mind saying, what size t-shirt do you wear? Yes, I wear t-shirts. I prefer girly cuts, size XL or XXL. One designed by my witch would be wonderful.   How do you feel about pumpkin scented things? Not perfume related, but soap, candles, etc.... I do not mind pumpkin scents as long as they don't smell too artificial.   Has anyone else heard of or does anyone else love Glamourkin? Looks cute, never heard of it before.   Are you looking for a certain kind of DVDs to spruce up your collection right now? My amazon wishlist has this info.   Does anyone like postcards? Is anyone willing to be a Nacho witch for postcards? I love postcards, and I certainly willing to Nacho witch.   Anyone going to see any good concerts this fall? I have not been to a concert in ages.   Do you like Star Trek? Original TV series, films, spinoff series, etc? Favorite characters? My one true love is Star Trek: Voyager.   Witchee, would you like a framed photograph and of what? No thanks, actually. I have plenty of my own photos up and everywhere.   New question: How do you feel about maple syrup? I feel YUM.   How do people feel about little pocket shrines, maybe something inspirational/motivational to keep in their purses/backpacks/whatever? No thanks. Do you like beef jerkey, I know some may be vegatarian, but where I live beef is a staple and beef jerkey abounds. If so do you it really thin, hard and crunchy or thicker and softer. (OK that borders on obscene)- I'll take some of that action.   Also do you like or racier ecards from time to time and do you need to be warned if something may be not safe to open at work. Yes, and my workplace is very casual so it's all good.   I have a couple spare Doctor Who stickers. If my witchee is a fan, would they like a couple Doctor Who stickers in their package? I've never seen it, so those would be lost on me. How would you feel about gummies? Like, gummy bears? Gummy werewolves? Gummy vampires? I love gummies, and particularly those sour crawlers. YUM.   How would you feel about a totally original Gela-skin for your laptop/iPod/phone? Stickers? Decals? I have 5 holes pierced in each ear and I love earrings.   How do you all feel about Whoopie Pies? Yum!   Who here adores meringue? Double yum!   What strange misc. items would you love to receive that you just haven't gotten for yourself?: Oh, I don't know. Make up brushes are always welcome, particularly ones to put on eyeshadow finely. I love samples of all sort of things..... I don't know, I'm going to have to think about these as they come.   How do you feel about franken polish? Are you okay with all chemicals, or would you prefer 3 free? Would you want glitter or holographic glitter? What colors would interest you? Sure, that's sounds cool. Sparkles are fine, and any color. I mostly paint my toes, not my fingernails. I'm not picky about chemicals in my nail polish.   Dear witchee, how do you feel about lip balm? Favorite style (twist up tube, pot, tube with wand, etc.)? Favorite flavors? Flavors to avoid? Favorite brand? Do you need more right now or are you set? Are you one of those people who could never have enough lip balm even though you have a bowl on your dresser overflowing with them and 10 in your purse and an order for more on the way? I'm pretty much a blistex girl. I don't use much in the way of lipbalm.   If you had an international witch, is there anything you would like from the UK? (Or Australia, Belgium, France any other country we have witches from. Australia: TIM TAMS. Oh my god, I love them. Please? pretty please? The ones here are not the same. Canada: Coffee Crisp. I love it, and I have yet to find it in New York (I hear you can get it in Seattle though). UK: I love Appletiser and Peartiser, but I don't think it would ship well. When I was there, they didn't have any of the fruit-tisers (except grape which I do not like). I can't think of anything else specific.   SOCK PREFERENCES? I like anklets.   Would you like/wear a pair of these? http://www.ravelry.c...rary/yoga-socks If so, what color? Hmm, odd. I do not think I'd wear them.   Is there anyone here who likes toe socks? You know, those socks with a place for each toe? I've always thought they were cute, but I've never owned a pair!   Arcana weenies??: Ooh, Arcana weenies! Although not so many that look like winners for me this year - their foody scents tend to be too rich and cloying on my skin. I would love to try: Serve in Heaven Perfume Oil, Song of Songs: Comfort Me With Apples and A Thread of Scarlet.   Would you like any ecotools makeup brushes? They're kinda one of my favorite things ever, and they're animal-friendly and the handles are bamboo. And to top it all off, they work really well for applying makeup. Sure, I'm always looking for good quality makeup brushes.   Do you like Legos? Especially mini-fig key chains, Lego block keychains, small Lego sets, etc? No thankyou.   A question! If you are crafty, what's your personal art style? I'm not talking just about what art you like to look at, but what kind of art do you like creating? Do you have a "process" while you're creating beauty? I am a photographer so I like making photographs. I'm drawn to geometric patterns, wide-open spaces and interesting light and shadows.   So what say you? IS an "unexpected" visit/in-person witching OK? I would love to meet you, but not unexpectedly!     Would you be interested in getting fountain pen inks or art supplies via JetPens and or DickBlick? (I know I have a wishlist on JetPens and just love using fountain pens in my artwork) I love fun stationary, pens, papers, anything like that.   For those interested in watercolors, how would you feel about getting a palette filled with paint from my watercolor tubes but not getting the paint tube itself? (copic markers, watercolor, brushes, paint, sketchbooks etc.) No thank you.   How do you feel about Threadless tshirts? Love! Must be girl XXL.   If you were turned loose in a basic drug store (CVS, Walgreens - a pharmacy with attached mini-mart, basically!) with a $20 bill, what would you pick up? nail polish, body wash and pens.   Darling Witchee, would you enjoy farmer's market pickled veggies (green beans, garlic, asparagus, etc) or fresh canned peaches or something of that nature? yes. I like pickled peppers best of us, but only if they are still crisp.   Do you prefer color or white photographs? Nature or abstract? All.   Amigurumi, yes or no? no thank you.   I have a question! What are some of your favorite paintings? (famous or undiscovered?) Feel free to link to examples! If you go to my flickr link of my apartment (somewhere up in this survey), you can see all kinds of art that I enjoy!   If you could have an image painted for you - sky is the limit - what would it be? I would like my artist person to paint me something they think I'd like! I love original art, and I've gotten some beautiful things from people in the art swaps and from previous switch witches. If you make me something dear witch, I promise it will be hung prominently in my apartment!   Name your 3 favorite scents for candles: lavender, apple cider, sea spray.   Name your 3 favorite types/flavors of tea: lapsang, white peach, vanilla rooibos   If you like manga, comics, and/or graphic novels, what is it about them that you like, in general? The story, the art/style, etc? I'm not so big on any of that - as I said previously, I like Buffy/Angel and the Dark Tower comics because they continue a story I already love.   Do you like period or period-styled paraphernalia? Stuff like postcards, notecards, jewelry, office supplies, what-have-you? Sure.   If your witch was the practical type and wanted to include one or more of your everyday essentials, what would those include? I'm talking about the bath products, lotions, face lotions, teas, food, etc that you really use every day. I love Philosophy Hope in a Jar face cream (although it is expensive), and any kind of shampoo/conditioner without lauryl sulfates would be welcome. In the food department, coffee is something I also use every day. I also like raw sugar cubes to go in it sometimes.   Jane Austen .. Yay or Nay? yay!   I put up quotes I love in my office and studio to get me going, They range from goofy to sarcastic to inspirational... Are you interested in a hand painted quote? Do you have one in mind, or a topic in mind? Sure, that would be lovely.   QUESTION: Do you like/own/wear/want fairy wings or something of the like? No thank you.   What kinds of coffee do I like? ALL THE THINGS. Well, almost all the things. I do not like hazelnut or fruit flavored. SW Spring 2011 Help!

March 25   Are you interested in trying Super Villainess (from Villainess - the birthday scent that was just released tonight!) and if so, which item do you like the most? (Soap, Whipped, Smooch, Extrait, Smack...) I don't like Villainess soaps or perfumes. I have one of their smooches which is nice, and I've never tried smack.   If I were to order you a Smack, which four notes would you like? Vanilla, incense, marshmallow and berry.   Would you enjoy receiving a knitted gift from your witch? If so what would you be interested in (scarf, hat, wrist / handwarmers, socks, etc.) and in what colors? Sure! I like bright colors.   March 23   Easter Candy - do you like it? If so, what types? mmmm, Cadbury creme eggs are my favorites.   What scent(s) are you petrified of getting DC'd? I've been slowly buying all of my GC loves. I think I'd be sad if any of them got discontinued, but I'd be okay because I have bottles.   March 22   Violette Market Update is up. Do you covet anything from it? Nope.   What is your favorite type of wine? Would you be interested in trying something new? In that case, is there anything you really DONT like? Ooooo how about dessert wines? I love both red and white wine - favorite red is Cabernet, favorite white is either Orvieto or Sancerre. I like tart white that aren't too tannic and full bodied reds that are also not too tannic.   March 21   What three things are you craving right now? Coffee!   paper goods, anyone need? including resume paper, and formal stationery as well as casual cards. I always need post-its and little cards to include in my sales packages.   What is a scent that you've been trying to find even a sample of for a very long time to no avail? (What bottle would you die to get your hands on - even a partial?) Always Fee. I have an imp and a half now, but I want a bottle (for less than $200!)   Is there anything in your life that you'd like advice or a "selfhelp" book for?: (ie finances, eating healthier, meal planning) Hmm, maybe meal planning.   March 19   If your Witch lived near you, would you be happy or creeped out to get a "coupon" for a service like cleaning help or babysitting or dogwalking or coffee out with your Witch or something like that? Would you be creeped out if a local minion personally delivered a package to your house from a far-away Witch? I think I know (and am friends with!) a few of the local, active BPAListas. I would not be creeped out.   Let's say I have a pair of something you collect, would you like one of them and we have matching things? Sure!   March 18   Do you like poetry? meeeeeeeeeeh. Some of it is great, but I am picky.   What types of scents do you like to scent your home? Which do you totally avoid? In the spring, I like fresh clean scents - citrus, lavender, "ocean" ... in the fall/winter, I like baked goods - apple cider, cookies, pie.   How do you feel about nail polish? What colors do you like? Sparkles? I like it on my toeses in the summertime. Any color is fine.   Household/kitchen goods/gadgets? the boyfriend is more the cook, but I love a good novelty item.   Ok geek check - what sort of geeky things do you do? Do you read comics/graphic novels? Are you obsessed with something (a TV show maybe?) Do you work in a geeky field? Do you play rpgs like Dungeons and Dragons? Would you like gifts related to any of these? I answered the comics question already. You know what my job is from my questionnaire. I'm definitely very, very uncool and I'm just fine with that.   Do you have a favorite fabric? If someone were to make you a fabric item, would you prefer it be out of any fabric? e.g. velvet, satin, silk, cotton, bamboo??? Would this change if it were an article of clothing vs. a bag/pillow/blanket/somethingelse I'm generally open, but remember that the kittehs will leave their fur on everything. Black velvet is probably not a good idea in my household.   Anything with the Worm Moon update that you're already lusting after? Witch, I purchased already. The proceeds going to Japan aid convinced me to just buy unsniffed. I can comfort my wallet by telling it that I bought BPAL for a good cause.   Comics: What an opportune question! I just finished watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel and now I've started reading the comics. I have all of the Angel comics and I am about halfway through them all, but I only have the first Buffy volume. They aren't as hard to read as I thought thought they would be! I am more of a books-without-pictures kind of girl at heart though.   March 17   Would you want an invite to a site that is invite-only ex. Diaspora, Demonoid, etc. If so, what? I don't know those sites? But I decided a long time ago that I'm borderline cool at best.   Pillows? What size/designs/colors would most interest you? Hmm, I don't think that' necessary, but thanks.   purses? bags? What style/colors? I love me some bags! I particularly like little clutches and things I can take out with me at night. I'm open as to colors - bags and shoes, I loves them all.   Decorative scarves for hair and/or creative accessorizing? What colors? Still a black hairband kind of girl.   Would you like anything from Starring Fragrances. They make awesome hair stuff, natural deoderant, and home fragrance (and a ton of other stuff, those are just my favs)? I've only tried their perfume once (it was a freebie from somewhere) and I wasn't into it. I passed it along. I'm not against trying other things, but sometimes I get overwhelmed with all of the product out there.   March 16   For those who like lipgloss, lipstick, tinted balms, etc, what colors do you wear (and warm? cool?) and do you prefer something sheer or more opaque? How do you feel about shimmer? I love shimmer and I prefer sheer. I tend to wear warmer colors. I really like lipgloss, actually. My favorite brands are the sephora brand (the one that is almost clear, but shimmery), philosophy and Cargo.   Are there any fancy/gourmet/special herbs or spices that you'd love to receive? ie: good quality vanilla or other extracts, vanilla beans, saffron, lavender, etc. Nah. Not much of a cook - that's more of the boyfriend's thing.   What's your favorite animal? Or is there one that's particularly significant to you? Penguins are my long time favorite, but I've always harbored a secret love of giraffes as well. I have a book called Tall Blondes that is all about giraffes that I bought because I am, well, both tall and blonde.   DVDs, Blu-Ray, both, neither? DVDs. No Blu Ray player.   Sock Dreams? What kind? (anklets, footies, etc.?) Sock dreams FTW! I like anklets best.   Since this is a price capped round, would you rather get one "big" thing or lots of "little" things or don't care? It is up to my witch. I trust your judgment.   Do you like pirate-related things? Yaaaaaaaar. Soaps? Be specific: if there are BPAL soaps you want to try or are dying for more of, tell all here! Also, any other companies people like or love? Villainess, maybe? Or Lush? What flavors??? I will pass; I have a TON of soaps and it's hard for me to find ones that don't dry out my skin. Sad.   What periods of art do you love most? Like, if someone was going to get you a tapestry or a box or some other item, what period would you want it to most resonate with? the pinks and golds of Rococo? the clean geometry of Art Deco? Anything!   March 10   Baked Goods? Yea Nay? NOM NOM NOM!!   If not Baked goods and you are changing eating habits..a book of recipes perhaps that will help the new eating lifestyle? I'm not a very good cook, so this is probably wasted on me.   If you were to make an order RIGHT NOW (Not that any of you will make any bpal orders until SW is over, because you do NOT want to mess up any plans your witch might have!) Switch Witch Fall 2010 Questions

Sizes: tops, babydoll XL or XXL - I am tall, so I'm willing to take a baggier fit for the length. Mens M or L. Bottoms, XL or XXL again, depending on fit.   Baked Goods?: Mmmmmm, yummy.   Other household members: My kitties love pressies, but my boyfriend has his own forums.   bottles or testers: I am specific in my wishlist for what I am looking for and it honestly doesn't matter to me. One bottle, a bunch of testers, it's all the same!   Mix CDs: Always a yes!   Groupons: Sadly, this is probably a no for me. I think Groupons are awesome, but I have no car and I am unwilling to travel long distances via public transportation to take advantage of a groupon. If you know it is something that has a store in Manhattan, then that would be okay.   Girly factor: I would say that I am not a particularly "girly" girl in looks or in personality. I try and put myself together well, I do wear make up and jewelry and (of course) perfume. That being said, I equate girlishness with people I would call "cute". I've never been called cute in my entire life - beautiful, pretty, sexy, attractive, but never, ever, ever "cute".   What is your favourite snack food, something you could grab any time?: does coffee count?   Ebooks: I do have an iPad, but I don't use it much for reading. I would prefer real books to ebooks, I think.   Plushies: No thank you - although, if anyone needs stuffing for plushies, I have a bag that I got accidently when we were upholstering our headboard.   Jane Austen: So much love! The only one I haven't read is Northanger Abbey, but I downloaded it for my iPad.   Do you read Tarot cards: No, but I find them intriguing.   Knitted things: Sure, I'd love some! I have three scarves from my mom and a hat from my cousin. I love handmade things.   Widescreen or formatted: Widescreen.   Scented tarts: Are fine, but I don't have a burner.   Lip Balms: No thanks. I have lip balm overload!   Body Mods: I have tattoos (2) and five ear piercings in each ear.   Booze: Yummy! - see my SW ?aire and previous answers for this question, but I like many things and love to sample stuff.   Favorite art/artist: I love a lot of different art and artists. Lately, I'm mostly into polish surrealists like Rafal Olbinski. I also really like illustration work. I'm a photographer, but I don't put a lot of my own work up. My style is a mixture of contemporary and mid-century and arts and crafts. I am an eclectic person. I put all of the photos of my apartment into one set on flickr and made a guest pass so anyone who is curious can peruse it! http://flickr.com/gp/lissaphoto/3Hi3Mb   cosplay: I do no kind of costumed play at all, so this wouldn't be for me.   handmade ceramics: would love, LOVE any of that! Mortars and pestles too. Any of it would be awesome.   Mail phobias: as long as you don't mail me a tray of bees, we're good.   etsy substitutions: I'm not picky - if something I like is sold out, but there is something similar, chances are I'll love it. Or even if it's not similar but has a similar aesthetic from the same store, you are also probably safe. I'll love anything my witch gives me!   Disney: Hmm, I am a Disney fan but I don't like Disney paraphernalia so much, if that makes sense. My favorite Disney movies are The Jungle Book, Mulan and Aladdin. I'm not much for the non-musical ones (booo! I like the songs!). Disney DVDs are all good though since I recently got rid of my entire colletion of VHS. Which bring me to ....   DVD, BluRay, VHS: Only DVD. And I do not mind used a single bit as long as they play!   What do you do when you need comfort etc? One of the things that I always do when I am sick, feeling yucky and especially if I am feeling depressed is re-read one of my favorite books and/or series. I know a lot of people are not re-readers, but I find nothing more comforting than slipping into a story I know and love. It's a little like visiting old friends that I haven't seen in a while and it always makes me feel better. Sometimes, if it's a book I've read a LOT, I will skip to all of my favorite parts; but then again, sometimes I make myself wait to get to my favorite parts. It just depends on my mood and how much delicious anticipation I want.   My favorite re-reads are (and no judgement here ....): - The Hero and the Crown by Robin McKinley - Blue Moon Rising by Simon R Green - The Deathstalker series - but only the first three because I didn't like where the series went, also by Simon R. Green - The Mage Winds Trilogy by Mercedes Lackey - The Dark Tower Series by Stephen King - but only the first five books. See above reason. - Harry Potter. - Rebecca by Daphne DuMaurier - The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood   When I was younger, I read Christy about a hundred times and I re-read it for the first time in YEARS a couple of years ago and I have no idea how I read past a lot of the religious themes in it - they seemed very obvious to me now and I didn't remember it being that way at all when I was 16. I have a few other frequent re-reads that are still in my parents house that I need to get back and see if they still fall into that category - Night Over Water by Ken Follett, Redwall, Mossflower and Mattimeo by Brian Jacques. I'm mad that I gave away my copy of Neverwhere - that's another good re-read book and the person I gave it to never gave it back.   Sigh, I love books.   Sockses? I have never used sock dreams, but I am intrigued by the concept. I generally don't wear "wild" socks, but it could be fun to have a fun patterned pair for halloween in particular.   Favorite Halloween Movie? One year a friend of mine and I watched the Scream trilogy. That was fun.   Makeup I wear it, but I am picky. I'm always game to try new eye shadows and things.   Comic Books: Not really into them, although I wouldn't mind trying out the Neil Gaiman ones. I flipped through some of those at the bookstore once and they looked pretty and interesting.   Warm drinks! Personally, I love them. My favorites are coffee, hot apple cider, cocoa and mulled wine. I do drink tea, but I tend to be pickier - I like flavorful teas like chai and darjeeling and lapsang, as well as berry and fruit flavored green teas. My favorite two specific teas are the passonfruit and vanilla rooibos tazo teas. I also like the Aveda loose leaf tea, but only brewed nice and strong. I've gotten some of the stuff teas from people in swaps and a lot of theirs is delicious too - although it's harder for me to find.   custom icons: I don't really use them, so no thanks.   animal totem: It's odd because I have a lot of animal themed art in my office, but I don't really have a totem so to speak. One of my favorite things I ever got in Africa is a carved wooden oryx. The people there always try and push elephants an giraffes on you and I eschewed all animal parapernalia until my third or fourth trip when I saw this graceful looking oryx all dusty in the back. She spoke to me.   If I could go back in time ...: I think it might be to the 20s. I think it would have been fun to be alive then - but not in the 30s. Further back, I'd have to go with the medieval period even though we have romanced it into being far greater than it likely was.   If I could be a fictional character from a fantasy novel...: I think I would like to be myself in the Harry Potter world. I would be an awesome witch.   Do you need a box for your bpal bottles? Your imps? Your something else to put in a box stuff? Actually, I think I'm good on that front! It's a miracle!   Favorite Halloween Candy/Treat? I more like fall treats. I love honey crisp apples and mulled cider.   What are your favorite baked goods/homemade treats? Lemon things. lemon bars, lemon pies, yum! I also like white chocolate macademia nut cookies   Would you be interested in an astrology birth chart? Sure, that would be really fun. It's 7/29/1980. I was born in Santa Clara, CA at around 5:30am.   Do you like the Muppets? Which is your favorite? Yes! Waldorf and Statler are my favs, followed by Rizzo the rat. Animal and Bunsen and Beaker are my least favorite.   If you could have any creature (real or imaginary) as a pet, what would it be? I would like to have a chinchilla. But the BF has said no right now, and he's probably right. We're already verging on being one of those people, not that I give a shit.   Name a couple of sites you frequent other than this one? livejournal, manhattanreefs.com (same usernamer), flickr   What movie scared the bejeezus out of you as a child?: Arachnophobia   Currently learning: I have my Ph.D., so I'm pretty much done as far as schooling. I would like to take more dive classes and become a more experienced SCUBA diver. Currently, I'm certified for dry suit and nitrox. I'd like to do a class in underwater photography and kelp diving and night diving! But sooooo expensive.   Will you be out of town during the round? Hmm, I do not think so. If so, the people who come to watch my pets get the mail.   Short stories/short movies? I do like movie shorts, but I do not like short stories. There isn't enough time! For me, the longer the book, the better. I want to follow my characters for as long as possible.   steampunk?: I do kind of like steam punk jewelry - particularly the watch and gears aspect of it. I have a ring that is basically the insides of a watch turned outside and I love it.   Would you like a bag of dried Honeycrisp apples?BIG BIG YES. I love honeycrisp, they are my favorite kind!   If you were to receive a knitted item (such as a scarf, hat, etc), what colors would you like? Ever since I read my first Shakespearean play, I have loved all of the different words for whore. Strumpet, trollop, wicked jade ... they are all so much fun!   Favorite Yankee Candles? Or other brands scents? (I make my own candles too, but sometimes have money to spend on others): I like candles that smell like baking.   zuni animal fetish: Eeeeeeeeeeh, probably not for me just because it's a "sitter" without that much meaning. Usually when I purchase something to sit around in my office, it is meaningful to me for some reason. While this would CERTAINLY be meaningful because my dear witch purchased it, none of them are really speaking to me.   glow in the dark radishes: are AWESOME. But I would never wear them.   What places to do you visit that you'd like a gift card to? Starbucks, Target, Wal-Mart, B&N, a favorite restaurant or clothing shop? : Please, no Walmart or Target for me as there aren't any conveniently located to me. Starbucks is always a good bet, Barnes and Nobles, Gap incm amazon, itunes, ....   Cake or Frosting? : both!   Would you prefer clothing or costume pieces? If so, what would items would you like? See sizing above and my answer about cosplay. Not into it and I'm not sure if I'm going to do anything on Halloween.   If you play console video games, what game systems do you have and what games would you love to have? I have a Wii! I like all of the exercise "games" and MarioKart and things like that. I do not like first person shooter games or games that require excessive reading of some story line. I am a simple gaming soul and I miss tetris.   Vampire Stuff: I am not anti-vamp, but I am not a rabid fan. I have seen the first two Twilight movies and I thought they were kind of cheesy. I read the first Twilight book and didn't feel the need to move on. I like Anne Rice's vampire books though and I hear True Blood is awesome, although I haven't seen it.   How do you all feel about flowers and plants? Flower and plant seeds? Drawings of flowers or plants? Pressed flowers? Pressed flowers and flower art is awesome. For seeds, they would need to be plants that can be grown in the shade. I have a backyard but it gets very little sun.     If you could have 3 BPAL bottles fall (gently) out of the sky right this second that you've been looking for or pining for - which 3 would they be? Hmmm ... Fee (Hahahahahahahahahahahaha. ha.), Left His Nurse While In A Crowd and a backup bottle of Dreadful Lies.   Are there any international treats that you love and have a hard time finding? Coffee crisps! And Tim Tams! And Daim bars (although now we can get those at Ikea!). There are actually more international DRINKS that I miss - I love Peartizer and Appletizer (I've seen Appletizer in the UK, but I've only seen Peartizer in South Africa) and my very, VERY favorite is Stoney Tangawizi which is a ginger soft drink made by the Coca Cola Co. I've only ever seen it in East Africa.   If you are a crafter, would you like to receive supplies from your witch (beads, fabric, yarn/roving etc?) I don't do a lot of crafting, honestly. However, I do a little bit of bookmaking so if my witch found some pretty ribbons in particular for doing various ribbon bindings, that would be welcome!   Find your iPod (or other MP3 device), put it on shuffle/random. Not sure - I'm not as into music as I once was.   Any countries you're interested in? Thailand, Japan, Morocco   Would you enjoy homemade bath products (bath salts, fizzies, etc.) and/or linen sprays? Esp. if scented with some of your favorite BPAL scents? Sure - but I don't really take baths. Scrubs, linen sprays, etc would be wonderful.   If you witch made you something and it didn't come out just right, would you still want it? Yes!   Are you a foodie? Perfume wise? Not really. Going out to eat at fancy restaurants-wise? YESYESYES!   Any sports fans in the house? What's your favorite sport/team/player? Basketball is the one with a puck, right?   For holidays, do you decorate? Would you like decorative stuff, weenie or otherwise? If so, do you lean towards the elegant, the crafty/folksy, or the more, erm, campy? I decorate for Christmas only, and I tend towards the more elegant side of things.   Are partial bottles okay: Absolutely.   Say you were my witchee, and I found things on your wishlist that I could totally make. Would you want me to make it? Or would you rather it be purchased for you? Yes, again - absolutely!   How do you feel about stationery, like nice pens or notepaper? And if you're in favor, do you prefer classic/contemporary or cutesy stuff? I love cards - I tend to include little cards in all of my swap packages, so I go through them quickly. I like just about anything.   Would you like homemade preserves? NOM NOM NOM. My mom found this pimento jelly at an Iowa farmer's market when she was visiting my father's family in July and it was SO DELICIOUS. I did not know I loved pimento so much, but I do. I also really like fig jam with cream cheese on crackers. Oh, nommity nom nom.   Do you like journals/notebooks/sketchbooks? I like them, but I never use them. Plus I make my own books, so I have tons of these laying around.   Who would be on your top 5 (IE famous people you’d date/have relations with 1. Christopher Plummer circa 1965 (The Sound of Music Years) 2. Kyle Chandler 3. Orlando Bloom, but only if he will wear a pirate outfit 4. Johnny Depp ... I can't think of 5, so 4 will have to do. I've never really been one to fantasize or drool over celebrities.   Would you like something you have to make yourself? For example, a kit to knit your own soft toy, or a card making kit, or baking kit, etc. And is there anything in particular you'd like to learn? Kits tend to sit around undone around my house. It's just the way things are.   What about vintage decoration items, teacups, etc etc? Sure! I particularly love vintage glass bottles and such. If you look on my flickr account, you can see the little ones I have already. The oldest one I have is pre-civil war. One of them says opium on the side! I recently got an old fishing float that is all pretty and patina-ed from being in the ocean. Yay glass.   Who is your favorite soap etailer? I really prefer scrubs and bodywash to soaps generally. I love paintbox soapworks sorbettos best of all.   What interests you from the latest lab/BPTP update?: I admit, I did a decant circle for pretty much everything I wanted from the Lab and the post, plus I put in an inquisition order for myself. Sorry witch dear! I haven't ordered the forum only scents as I didn't think there would be time for a decant and order - I have been waiting for reviews as they both interest me. I also updated my wishlist with some other things I've been looking for.   Marzipan, maple candy, bacon chocolate,oh my!: Yes, yes, and ... I'll try anything once!   If you are a tea-drinker do you need a tea-cozie for your pot?: When I drink tea, I make it a cup at a time, so no. I don't even know what a tea-cozie is. Now, can I have my coffee back?   Go to your spice cabinet, what are the three most used spices? Cinnamon, paprika, rosemary   Microsoft or Apple? Both! I have a PC and an iPad.   Where was your last vacation? What did you like most? Spokane, WA - and visiting with my family and relaxing was the best part.   Would you appreciate receiving handwritten letters and/or postcards (anonymous or not)? How about sending them? Yes to both.   Chocolate or other types of candy? Chocolates - any kind really. I also love caramel.   For tea drinkers, do you prefer loose leaf or tea bags? Bags. That's how you can tell I'm not a real tea drinker!   If you would enjoy something of a knitted persuasion, do you have a preference on type of thing? Since making a scarf for someone who has 10 might be a smidge excessive? Also, how do people feel about shawls? I have no preference and I love scarves and shawls. Wait - .... is 10 excessive? When my mother retired, she took up knitting and she quickly got bored with just doing straight stitch stuff. Now she's super active on ravelry and makes ridiculously complicated but beautiful lace knit things. (I think she's VickiRPT on there if any of you "know" her!) So she gives me knitted things all the time and you know what? I STILL WANT MORE. Heh.   Is there a TV, movie or literary character that you are a lot alike, or would like to be alike? Xena, Warrior Princess. I never watched the show, but Lucy Lawless is pretty badass.   Is there anything you need for your kitchen, ie measuring cups, spoons, grater, ect? Hmm, not that I can think of right now.   Music, DO you prefer Live or Studio? Edited or explicit? I like it all.   If you are an animal lover, is there a specific type/breed that you love most? Silkie bantam chickens. They are so so stupid and look like muppets. How could something to improbable exist!   Also flowers and plants- If you like flowers/plants, do you have a favorite(s)? I like lots of different flowers actually, but I don't have a favorite. Anything that is colorful and smells good. I am oddly attracted to yellow flowers in particular.   Do you have a favorite quotation? Song lyric? Book passage? The little glimpse of domestic harmony which had been offered her, gave her no regret, no longing. It was not a condition of life which fitted her, and she could see in it but an appalling and hopeless ennui. She was moved by a kind of commiseration for Madame Ratignolle, -- a pity for that colorless existence which never uplifted its possessor beyond the region of blind contentment, in which no moment of anguish ever visited her soul, in which she would never have the taste of life's delirium. - Kate Chopin, The Awakening   Let's say, hypothetically speaking, that you have some children/spawn (1 or more), and, hypothetically speaking, your witch would like to spoil them a little but knows nothing of kids these days. What do they like or dislike? Also is there anything a (sane) adult might think they would like that you don't think is appropriate for whatever reason? (I'm thinking of things like temp tattoos, make up, things that make noise, or anything else that might be bad for non-obvious reasons.) Heh, this does not apply to me. I am child free by choice.   Is there anything you would like that can be delivered over the internet? Things like fanfic recs, cat macros, mp3s you are looking for, how-to or amusing videos, things like that I always love a good link/video!   Say you were my witchee, and I found things on your wishlist that I could totally make. Would you want me to make it? Or would you rather it be purchased for you? Either is fine!   Would you be opposed to receiving a digital version (via email) of a magazine you like but don't subscribe to...you know, in the interest of saving a tree? I really, really like real magazines, but I would read an e-magazine anyway.   dollars store trinkets: If it's something like stationary, then yay! If it's a "sitter" then I would echo what some of the others have said and would rather you pass. Unless you think it's something too perfect for me! Then, by all means ...   word magnets: I have two sets, and that is probably sufficient.   crafting instead of buying: Craft away! I love crafted goods.   do you read mangas or anime?: Nope, not at all.   Are there any particular movies, tv shows or cd’s that you’ve been meaning to buy for years but just never got round to getting? Would you mind a gently used dvd/cd if your witch had it or could get it?? See my amazon.com wishlist. There are lots of movies I am trying to replace on DVD since my VCR crapped out. Used is fine by me so long as it plays.   Is there anything from the Possets' Hallowe'en update you're lusting after? Never tried possets.   Would you like a custom/altered toy either from a seller or from your witch (like My Little Pony, or a Barbie or any particular toy that can be changed?) Hmmm, no thanks.   Do you like the candy apple, candy corn or pumpkin spice kisses? Um, are there people who don't like those things?! If it's wrong to like them, then I don't want to be right!   Anne Taintor, anyone? Heeeee! See my LJ icon. I love Anne Taintor in all incarnations.   If I were to knit a scarf, would you prefer a skinny one, or a wide one? A short one, that when wrapped once around your neck will just tuck under your jacket, or a long one, at least to your waist? Don't like scarves? Would a rectangular shawl or triangular shawl be more to your taste? I feel like I covered this, but I love scarves of all persuasions. I generally love accessories, shoes and outerwear.   How do you feel about recipes? Okay, here is the deal - I can cook and I even like to cook. However, my boyfriend used to work in a professional kitchen and feels the need to "help" and "improve upon" whatever I decide to cook. This annoys me SO MUCH that I rarely cook when he is around. So while I actually do love recipes, they kind of make me a little bitter in an odd sort of way. If you sent them to me, I would have to try them when BF is out of town or he will make me so crazy that I will want to beat him with a blunt object.   What kind of a cook/baker are you? See above.   Are you happiest calling for delivery or microwaving a lean cuisine, Or will Food Network be asking you to host their new program? See above again.   If I send you something home made would you like the reciepe for it? Sure! Then I can at least duplicate it if I want to!   How about home made mixes or kits? Kind of like the cookie in a jar thing, where you would need to add the perishable ingredients? If you send one, it will definitely get made by either me or the BF.   if you are a tea lover, what are your flavor preferences? Green? Black? Herbal (I know, technically those are NOT teas, but tisanes)? Flavored blacks/greens? I answered this earlier, but I prefer fruit teas, as well as lapsang souchong and darjeeling and chai. I just tried an apple chamomile blend that I got with a swap package and it was quite nummy and soothing to the stomach. Oh, anything with ginger or vanilla is probably a win too, regardless of base flavor.   Is there a specific book you've been wanting to get but haven't found the time or the opportunity to? Amazon list has all of the answers to this.   OK, I know that lots of folks love socks. Do you have a preference of length? Materials? Patterns? I already got a sockdreams gift card.   If you could have any costume, or if you aren't into costumes, necklace or other accessory, from any movie character, what would it be? I would love one of the dresses from The Other Boleyn Girl to dress up on Halloween. It would be SO expensive, but I have always wanted to try one.   How do you feel about samples/decants of things other than BPAL? Soap slices, lotion/scrub/shower gel decants, single use make-up/beauty products, etc. Not into the soap slices, they never get used. Any of the rest is a-okay.   What are you guys going to be aiming for in the Inquisition? Or do you just plan on ordering individual items? I already ordered my inquisition stuff.   Are you lusting after anything Possets/Violette Market/Conjure Oils/etc? I find that I start to get overwhelmed when I start exploring all of those other sites. I can barely keep up with BPAL and now I find out there are a million other companies as well! I always enjoy getting frimps from other etailers, although with ONE exception I have not ever found something bottleworthy (exception = Arcana Breakfast in Hollywood). I almost bought a bottle of Frou Frou from Possets which I also quite like. The Violette Market LE scents sounds divine, but I don't even know if all of the same notes will work there. If there were a way to get a tester pack from another etailer, I would love that. I have notes of good and bad listed on my wishlist. I do know that I do not like Villianess perfumes. Whatever their base is slides right off of my skin. I've tried four and they last for maybe 30 minutes.   Do you read/like fantasy? What kind of books or authors do you love? Which one would you like to read? Would you like gifts related to it? Yes, see my amazon wishlist and my comfort reads listed above. I don't think I need any gifts related to that?   Soaps : do you like them? What brands? What scents? Anything you're dying to try? I prefer scrubs.   Who likes hair toys, and if so what kind? I usually just use plain black bands.   Does any art we may send need to be child safe, either in the actually safe sense or the non X rated sense? No way!   In the knitted/crocheted things area, would you want wrist warmers, 1/2 gloves, a neck warmer(the kind that pretty much just goes around your neck and maybe fastens instead of being long and loose like a scarf), slippers, or hats? Sure. Well, maybe not a cowl? But maybe, I've never used one.   How do you feel about altered/recycled/upcycled items of clothing or accessories? I do not mind them.   What is your favourite habitat and climate to live in? How about to visit? (ie. forest, canyons, mountains, by the beach; temperate, tropical...) I miss California.   What do you wish you could make/craft if you had the know-how and supplies? Specifically, which particular items? I can't think of anything right now, but I'll ponder it.   Am I alone in this, or is there a Book Fair/Comic Con scent you're dying to get your paws on, too? Anyone need address/phone type books? I am going to ComiCon, so I'm good there. I'd love to try Sybil, but it's got rose in it and that is typically a deal breaker.   Do you have a place where you list all the BPAL you have or have tried? This is my list of scents I've tried.   9/22/10 Do you have a deviantart print wishlist or favourites list? None that is recent. I used to have one a long long time ago, but I just tried to login to my account and it doesn't seem to exist anymore.   Is there anything from Blooddrop that you want to try? GC? Halloween update? Not that I know of. TOO MANY COMPANIES!   What kind of shoes do you need/want? What size shoes do you wear? Would you mind gently used shoes? I wear a size 11 shoes, so shoes are difficult to find for me. I think I would prefer to buy my own shoes. Sorry dear!   Do you like paper dolls (new or vintage) or coloring in books? Hmm, no thanks.   Do you like weird scary things as traditionally girly fashion items like heels and handbags? Sure, it's fun! I don't know how often I'd wear them, but I love the idea.   What song is on heavy rotation for you right now? It's too shameful, but ... According to You by Orianthi.   Are you coveting any of the NYCC atmospheric sprays? I will be buying two for me!   9/21/10 Do you like garlic? Do you REALLY like garlic? Would you want to try some really unusual garlic stuff, like garlic cheese or garlic fudge or garlic chocolate, etc., etc., etc.? I grew up not too far from Gilroy, so I have tried all of the garlic novelty food. It's fun, and I love garlic, but you don't need to go out of your way for it!   Can I talk to you about the living dead? How do you feel about Zombies? I like Zombie movies. I'm not obsessed.   9/20/10 If you happened to be my Witchee, is there something you'd like from the Arcana Halloween update? YES YES YES! Almost everything. I love Arcana.   How many bottles of BPAL do you have? 87. I counted.   Is there any exercise program that you're interesting in learning? Meditation, Yoga, Pilates, Belly Dancing, Zumba ect? Or if you do any of these (or anything else sport related) are there any things you need/want? Candles, music, mats, water bottles ect? I don't think so .... I love Sigg waterbottles, I use them every day at work so those are always fun.   Anyone else into Emily Autumn? I have a couple of songs.   What's on your walls? Please show us up to three paintings/posters/whatever. If you love a painting so much that you would steal (to watch it with your greedy eyes) one, please share. Posted on the thread + you can take my house tour.   do you like Girl Scout cookies? What kind? ALL KINDS YES PLEAZ.   What's your take on homemade apple butter? Want some? My take is NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM.   9/19/10 I wondered if my witch or any witch would enjoy things like nice pens to draw with or anything similar? I always need red pens so that my comments will run like blood down the my students' papers.   For those who are yarnies Not a yarnie!   Address book I'm digital girl now.   9/25/10 If you could make a scent that represents where you live (or have lived), what would be the ingredients? This was a hard one for me, but I'm inspired by one of my favorite smells in the city. In the wintertime, the candied nut vendors come out. One of them camps out right outside of my subway station so when I come out of the subway and into the cold, my nose is immediately greeted by the delicious smell of roasting nuts.   The scent of candied nuts in the sharp chill of the winter air, and a whiff of exhaust.   Are you in need of Roller bottles or anything of the like? yes please!   9/24/10 Just curious, but if your witch was to make an amigurumi critter (or other plushie) just for you, what would it be? A penguin or a monkey.   Would you want a local/tourist item from your witch? Like a t-shirt, mug or shot glass? A shot glass would be awesome!   Okay, who wants NAlloween and some Vampire Apothecary goodness? Venomous Villains? No more scent sites! I am in overload!   Last Unicorn? I never buy scents based on name, only on notes so I'll have to see what they look like.   Who is your fav Disney Villian/villianess? How about hero/herione? (doesn't have to be specifically Disney though) Heroine would be Mulan. Villain/villainness would be Scar. I do love Jeremy Irons.     9/23/10 Do you collect stones/rocks? I'm talking like "semi" precious stones, ie moonstone, bloodstone, quartz ect. Are there any that you're looking for at the moment? Are you in need of a stone but don't know which kind? Nope - although I am in need of a jewelry maker!   What's your favorite Halloween Music? I don't listen to any special music on Halloween.

February Shot Gun 2010 SW help

Girly things? Makeup samples are welcome. i don't really need moisturizer/soap samples.   coffe/tea/hotchocolate? coffee, coffee, coffee. Then hot cocoa. And at a distant third is tea (and I tend to like strong teas - darjeeling and chai in particularly)   recipes? Sure, why not?   art: I love art, though I do tend to be picky. If you yourself is an artist, then I would love it to death as I love original art. If you're thinking of buying me something, you're better off going with something small. I love old book plates and things from natural science books.   Do you like alcoholic beverages? If so, what is your preference (beer, wine, liquor...)? And finally, is it legal to ship alcohol to your state? I love classic cocktails, so any booze is welcome. I also like to try random things, so any kind of interesting, off the wall liqueur would also be very welcome. I am a huge wine drinker too. Wow, I sound like an alcoholic. I don't know what the legality if of shipping here, though I have ordered wine before and it has shipped here fine.   Imagine that someone hands you their wallet and sends you into a really good bakery. They have everything, from breads to brownies, cookies to croissants, anything you could imagine, and you're allowed to pick out five things for yourself. What do you pick? (1) Pain au chocolat (preferably fresh from the oven - my taste memories of the first time I was in Paris and I was jetlagged so I got one fresh from the oven and ate it while I walked to the Eiffel Tower are vivid) (2) Blondie (3) Honey Spelt Bread (4) Those crunchy, buttery pinwheel things (I'll try and find a picture) (5) white chocolate macadamia nut cookies   Would you like soaps? Especially from Paintbox? And ESPECIALLY the Valentines Special Edition Soaps?? Could never turn them down!   Sockdreams?: I've never ordered from there, but they look lovely! I am not one for thigh highs or knee highs though.   Steampunk: I love the aesthetic, but I don't have anything that is steampunk.   Salty caramels? Chocolate bacon? Oh my! I'll try anything once.   Any big events coming up in your life? Nope!   Would you like or accept an energetically-charged item or gift? Something that had power poured into it? If so, do you have a particular purpose that you'd prefer? (Love, protection, money, etc.)?: As indicated on my questionnaire, I do not practice (nor have ever practiced) any kind of religion/spiritual faith. While I find all religions and beliefs systems fascinating in an academic, anthropological kind of way, they aren't really for me.   Villianess update?: I've only tried their perfumes, but they slide right off of my skin. I am always willing to be enabled though!!   How are we feeling about Burlesque? I LOVE burlesque as an art form. I saw "A Burlesque Christmas Carol" this year - not a particularly artful burlesque, but interesting nevertheless. I'm more interested in the art/history/fashion of it than practicing it myself.   Win some earrings from alicia_stardust? They are beautiful, but copper is not a good metals for my ears. They tend to be a little sensitive to low grade metals.     Do I want my witch to reveal? I hope so! I would like to know in the end.   Do I want a lot of little packages or one big one? Whatever she wants. Everyone has a different style. I believe I will be witched eventually!   Keys? They are really cool, but I'm not sure I'd know what to do with one. I'm not a collector, so ... seems more like something I would admire rather wish to acquire.   favorite flowers: Gerbera daisies.   Sleepytime? : I wear oversize t-shirts and shorts/pants.   Frankenpolish?: sure, why not?   vegan baked goods: ... would be greatly appreciated by the BF since he's lactose intolerant (bordering on totally allergic to all dairy - like, he can't even have butter) and I don't mind.   Dog sweater? I have no pups, and I'm pretty sure the kittehs would destroy any kind of sweatery goodness.   Lipbalm: I tend to use lip gloss or some kind of medicated balm when my lips get chapped. Nothing super fun, I'm afraid.   fictional universe: Mmm, His Dark Materials is a good one. I want to ride one of the bears!! (Though The Subtle Knife is my favorite of the three books)   The final frontier?: I am a total ST: Voyager fangrrl. There, I said it. I like TNG, but Voyager was the only one I was every really, really into. I DVR the repeats on Spike. I need to buy the DVDs.   astronomy? Not so much - it has never really been my thing.   HP House? Gryffindor! And my patronus would probably be something like a mountain lion.   What have I lost that I can never get back? I had this fabulous little cream colored shell that I got at the HUGE H&M in Stockholm. It was cheap (maybe $12.00 US?) but it looked good with dressy clothes. I have no idea where it went to, and I curse the day I lost it.   Have I bought anything? My dear witch, I haven't bought anything but I have been trading on the V-Day thread. I am sorry. BAD ELLEBELLE.   canned/jarred goods? Nommy, nom nom nom nom! But I'm not into berries.   Whew, okay let's see if I got all of this ...   Nail polish - I don't really wear it very much, sadly. If you're going to go that way, I like deep sparkling reds.   natural sea sponge - no thanks!   BPAL boxes - I am desperately in need of an other bpal box. Also, I need a portable imp case or something so I can carry them in my purse.   incense/scented candles - not so big on the incense. Candles are fine, though the BF and I currently have an overabundance of them. If you go that way, no too many and I tend towards foody and/or citrus scents.   WoW - can't say I've ever played.   amazing yard sale/garage sale find - (1) I collect antique (pre-1900) bottles, so any one that is RED would be totally amazing (they are very rare because the red coloration was made with gold) (2) An antique box - I love the old cashboxes that were popular in colonical India/Africa.   Turkish Delight:You know, I don't think I've ever tried it. And my rule is that I'll try anything once!   Mardi Gras: I've never lived anywhere that it is truly celebrated. My best friend lived in New Orleans for two years, and never did get down there to see her during Mardi Gras - too expensive. The photos look like she had a good time!   Mix CDs? I love making and receiving mix CDs more than I could ever say.   Some of my friends and I have group mix CDs where we are each allowed to pick 9 minutes of music on a theme. It has led to some weird, but wonderful, mixes!   Candy? The BF thinks it is disgusting, but I love those night-crawler jelly worm things. They are so artificially delicious! And, of course, chocolate in any form.   What are the first five songs on the "Top 25 Most Played" list on your ipod? Heh, get ready for this:   Before He Cheats - Carrie Underwood Jet Black Ash - Bain Mattox All The Girls Love Alive - Sir Elton (yes, I like him, so sue me) Green River - M. Ward Save and Horse, Ride a Cowboy - Big and Rich My Light, Maria - Pale Young Gentlemen Possum Kingdom - The Toadies Bullet With Butterfly Wings - Smashing Pumpkins Murray - Pete Yorn Apple of my Eye - Ed Harcourt Movin' Out - Billy Joel Can't Stand Losing You - The Police Swim - Ani Difranco Western States (demo) - Jay Mankind In Love With A Girl - Gavin DeGraw Red Flags and Long Nights - She Wants Revenge I Hate Myself for Loving You - Joan Jett Never Been to Spain - Three Dog Night When I'm Down - Chris Cornell I Know Where I've Been - Queen Latifah (from the Hairspray soundtrack) Train - Sonya Kitchell Feeling Good - Muse Identity Theft - Nellie McKay Everybody Loves Me - The 88 Gangsta Paradise - Coolio   So when I said my taste in music is eclectic on the Qaire, I meant it!!   If your witch was international, would you be interested in receiving gifts that were representative of her country or culture? Absolutely! Would love it.   Pet toys? The kittehs love their catnip, but don't eat cat-treats.   Naughty Things: As I said in the No-Baby Swap, I'm not so into the toys and games. But naughty BOOKS are fine.   Gently Used CDs/DVDs: Certainly! I often buy used for myself anyway since it is so much cheaper.   Favorite Love Story: Much Ado About Nothing is STILL my favorite Shakespearean play. I tend to like the romantic comedies where you know two people are perfect for each other but it takes them until the very end to admit it. (See also: While You Were Sleeping, French Kiss, Bridget Jones's Diary - three of my favorite mindless, I just want to relax and have a good time movies). My least favorite are when two people are perfect for each other and ridiculous obstacles come in the way of them being together. (See: every soap opera ever made.0   Gagetry!: I would love a cover for my ipod nano (I have the most recent version). Some of you crafty folks could probably easily even make one!! I'd love a laptop envelope also (Dell Latitutde D620). Otherwise, I have pretty much all of the accessories I need.   ComiCon/Ren Faires: I have never been, but if I went I am not the type to dress up. Actually, the closest I come to any of that are the Jazz Age events that are held here. I kind of dress up for those - I don't have the vintage clothes, but I have some in kind of a vintage-style and I wear my estate jewelry. EDIT: For those that are curious, you can search Michael Arenella and the Dreamland Orchestra - they put together the Lawn Parties, and you can see my series of photos from the event last summer here.   Oh, and my dear future witch: I believe I forgot to include on my Qaire that I am severely allergic to (I think) BPAL's cassia oil scent.   Hand knit: Absolutely! My mom is a huge knitter and she has made me several lovely things. She does mostly lace knitting now, so shawls and things. My cousin knitted me a wonderful soft had for Christmas. I loves the knitted goodies!   Love poem: Yeah, I'm not so big on those, apparently. Though my favorite poem is "The Wanderer", an old english poem. Google books has the translation I like: http://books.google....r...;q=&f=false (scroll up to page 7 for the beginning)   Valentine's Colors: I particularly love deep, dark reds but I'm okay with pretty much all valentiens colors.   Hand-sewn?: I would love anything art-ed, sewn, or crafted by my witch. If you send me art, it will be lovingly framed and displayed in my home. If you send me clothing goods, they will be lovingly worn! I love it all.   Microbes: My friend works in a genetics lab and her fiance got her the microbes one year for her birthday. My favorite is the mad cow - because it's cow patterned!!! But I probably don't need any for me.   Favorite sign of spring - days getting longer and cherry blossoms in bloom! I love the first day I can take a walk outside with just a light jacket.   Favorite obsure animal: I am fond of quokkas.
