BPAL Madness!

This was an unexpected frimp in my recent Fool's Journey decant circle order (my guess due to the server/website issues that the Lab has experienced as of late). It starts off as a green blend, but then the pepper and green musk comes through, and maybe some cinnamon. There's also a sort of wire/ozone hint to the edges. It's actually a pretty aggressive blend with a pretty good throw. I swear there is also some sort of green leather in there in the drydown.

As gremlin-like as you would expect.

okay, first off I have to say how completely excited I am to have gotten one of these exclusives/LEs live, because so far I've only ever gotten them after the fact or not at all. So yay and thank you Lab! :) Achievement unlocked! :wub3: :wub3: :wub3:

Pine/juniper in the imp. Goes on as juniper and the black pepper note from that one Yule Lad, with a touch of... old chewing gum? Yeah, it's old chewed-up spearmint gum. This continues into something... stinky. And somehow soft. Rubbery? I'm smelling rubber or maybe vinyl. Jeez, this is hard to describe. "Gremlin hide" is probably what the description would read. Green leather? ozone? possibly.

It's delightfully vile and absolutely what a computer gremlin would smell like.

There's a vegetal note that I've been trying to describe in this imp, and haven't landed. Some people have said pine and juniper, but there's something like...cucumber? Green bell pepper? Celery juice comes close. I keep finding this vegetable-y and I love it. I definitely get the rubbery/green leather note--it reminds me of stripping wires when I was a US Navy ET, and the acrid note of dust-in-high-voltage-equipment.

Of course, I have to disclaim bias: my callsign when working convention security is Gremlin.

EDIT: After seeing the description of Doozers and Gorg's Garden, I couldn't help but wonder if the vegetable I'm catching is a radish, actually.

Wet: I get smoky cola resins with a bit of black pepper.

Dry: After a few minutes on my skin, the wood becomes more prominent (sandalwood?) and then cinnamon appears.

Dry-down: It's deep, dark, and resinous with a tinge of sweetness. Foresty. End phase is a spicy, smoky wood.

Something in it reminds me of when I used to go to mass--maybe sandalwood or frankincense. If you like Azathoth, you will like this. They are very similar, but this one has more cinnamon and is more sweet and smoky in a vetiver-like way. It also has more presence. Server Gremlins is gorgeous on my skin and it makes me feel powerful.

ETA: a Lab Rat has informed me that the following scents have a similar vibe to Server Gremlins-- Al-Shairan, Behind the Veils, Bengal, and Defututa.

Yaaaaas! I'm so thrilled to have gotten an imp of this in my recent Lab order. Thank you, Labbies!

In the imp: Cinnamon, resins, patchouli, musk.

Wet: I'm hit with a blast of cinnamon, pepper, and resins, and I think I'm getting some red patchouli and possibly some green musk behind those notes. The spices are pretty strong on me, but the cinnamon is not burning my skin, fortunately. I think there may be some cardamom in this, too. I'd put it in the same family as Plunder, but the spices in this are stronger on me than those in Plunder. It makes me think of chai spices, accompanied by some resins, patchouli, and musk.

Dry: It takes a really long time for the spices to calm down on me, but when they do, I get some ozone. The (what I believe to be green) musk gets to play a greater role, backed by the spices, resins, and red patchouli. I also get a bit of smokiness from this.

Verdict: This one is a mischievous morpher! It really fits its name. It's actually not bad on me, but it's also not a scent that I could see myself wearing.

What a nice surprise as a frimps in my order! Just opening it to sniff, I get something dark green mixed with something cinnamon. It smells really good, which surprises me cuz I'm not a cinnamon fan. It reminds me a bit of the ginger cookies my grandma used to make when I was a kid. I think I smell a hint of brown sugar, boozy vanilla/butter, and whatever makes Red Hots candy red hot. Maybe a touch of black patchouli too? It changes a little each time I sniff.

received as a frimp from the lab! :)

it starts of green and spicy. i'm trying to tell what this green scent is. it's not pine or fir, it's more leafy/forest-y but not in a pine way. it's more wet/rainforest than coniferous, i think. it has a bit of a camphor-like zing to the green as well. i am wondering if the spiciness is black pepper and ginger? this is definitely fresh & spicy. after a few minutes on the skin, i think i get a hint of cedar and something citrussy, perhaps grapefruit or lemon, but i really don't know! i'd say this scent is fairly unisex. i'm not the greatest at deciphering notes, but it's a fresh green scent with spices and hints of woods and a hint of sweetness that i can't place. could be yuzu? i dunno ;)

Brown musk; black, loamy patchouli and some cassia when I first smell it in the vial. Wet on skin it starts to warm and the brown musk morphs into valerian- rich and earthy and slightly sweet. I'm not getting any of the ozone that others have described, thankfully. The dry-down stays with the theme of earthy and rich.

This is not at ALL what I was expecting and I'm *so* glad that this was included with my order- thanks Labbies! Awesome as always!!! :)

This is a really different one! In the imp as well as on (this one doesn't morph much on me), I get a mix of dark green and resinous notes with something weirdly plasticky or rubbery. Also something minty -- I'm with the reviewer above who mentioned getting the impression of old, sticky chewing gum. Overall impression is strong, dark, and green, with that plastic-like note that makes me think of wires and cables. Definitely fits the name.

At first - I'm on board with the "Radish" description from earlier. It starts off a sour, sweet, tart, weirdly earthy yet zippy ginger-esq effervescent blend. Like, literally, goblins inside a physical server. Static cling is even in the air.

Later drydown it's like a skin musk/leather musk & cinnamon/spices blend. But you can still sniff out the static cling. Like Gremlins legit moved in and set up camp. There's maybe an undertone of something sweet/vanilla.

Pretty cool scent. Not one I'd reach for but definitely a cool one to sniff. Will be sending off to get some love.

In the imp: Very vegetal. Pepper, both in the peppercorn and capsicum sense.

Wet: Prickly pepper! A bit of mint, a bit of cinnamon. If Plunder is a spice rack, Server Gremlins is a natural-foods store with a prominent organic bulk spices section and herbal gum (that disintegrates in your mouth if you stop chewing it for even half a second) at the register. A bit of ozone, but not enough to overpower the spices. The overall color of the scent is a circuit-board green with brown diodes.

Dry: The pepper(s) didn't stick around long, it dried down to mostly just that herbal chewing gum. I always quite liked that smell. The longer it dries the more I get the impression that there's a bit of vetiver in here.

This is a really interesting scent (though rather a bit different than I expected from the name) and seems to have decent lasting power on me. I don't know how often I'll reach for it but I want to keep it in my arsenal just in case.

Vegetal and green on top, devious black resins underneath. Behind the Veils is definitely a good comparison, at least as far as the base notes are concerned. The top notes recall BPAL's slimy green Lovecraftian scents.

Something strong and acrid with a touch of green herbal. I'm thinking maybe a light patchouli? I don't mind it, I think it would be nice as a soap.

Server Gremlins has crept into my brain and taken hold. It's spicy, dirty, earthy and lovely. There's definitely some cinnamon in there, but just a bit. Probably some patchouli. Maybe some mint? There's just a hint of something soapy in the dry down. Sometimes I get a whiff of bubble gum at the front end, but that's gone in a flash. Over all, Server Gremlins reminds me a touch of The Rat Speakers, but it's wonderfully shifty. A discordant little blend that plays tricks with the nose and hangs around happily for many hours.
