BPAL Madness!

Divine ecstasy and divine madness. Ambivalence and absolute faith.

Frankincense and lemon peel drifting on a cloud of lemongrass, white coconut, sandalwood, and vanilla absolute.

In the bottle, this is surprisingly less citrus than I would have guessed from the notes. It's mostly a whiff of a lemon kiss gliding over the meat of a coconut. The lemon like notes then veer more towards lemongrass, but it's subtle and not super sharp, as that note can be. With a little more time and heat from my skin, the coconut becomes more apparent, deepening, and then kissed and brushed with dusty medium brown sandalwood (a sweet, not super sharp, but just thrummy enough woodsiness to ground the higher notes)... and there's a bit of gourmand from the vanilla. Certainly not truly foody, but having elements of both the resinous citrus and yet creamy spice variety. With even more time, the lemon notes deepen and I can swear that the spritz of a lemon rind is now more apparent.

On me, the scent does become quite subtle, and mostly a tasty buttery lemon-coconut.

This smells like the most beautiful lemon balm when first applied. Soft and smooth with just the right amount of refreshing citrus sunshine. As it wears, the coconut becomes more apparent and provides a creamy backdrop.

I wouldn’t have known there were resins in this save for the description. The frankincense I could kind of see since it has a bit of a lemony tang itself, but otherwise it's a tough call. If I really focus I can pick out the slightest breath of sandalwood giving things a bit more weight, but essentially this is lemongrass/coconut on me.

Which is great! It feels tropical in a calming, lounging on the beach at sunset way. I love the scent of lemon but don’t really have any blends that use it except for Delight & Consternation, and coconut is another one of my favorites, so it’s nice having them in starring roles.

If there were such a thing as lemongrass meringue pie, this would be it. A mellow-sweet buttercream from the coconut and vanilla, while the frankincense and lemon are quite muted, perhaps keeping each other in check, so that the lemongrass can shine. It's very unique and wearable, although I'll probably be happy with just my decant of it. A great summer-beachy scent!

This is lovely! It starts out with a sweetened lemon and gradually morphs into a creamy, sweet, but floral-instead-of-foody vanilla. It started reminding me of something, and it took me a while to follow my synapses down the rabbit hole and figure out what it was, but then I put my finger on it...Regan??? Seriously, on me this smells, after the early lemony stages, a lot like I remember Regan smelling. I sold my imp years ago and can't directly compare the two. I have no idea why the notes are coming together like this on me--as far as I know, they only have one note in common, the vanilla--but I'll take it. Definitely will be a bottle purchase. If you think in colors, this one's a bright sunny yellow.

Coconut, lemongrass, and lemon. And hell, this smells like BBW Coconut Lime, but instead of lime its definitely lemon grass. It's sweet, it's creamy, its coconutty goodness. This smells like tropical sunshine. Monster throw on me. Good wear length.

Eyes Skyward goes on me as an airy, grassy-green lemongrass and sugary-sweet lemon on a cloudy coconut. When I go looking, I find a little golden frankincense, but no sandalwood or vanilla, though the coconut has a creaminess that might be vanilla's handiwork.

The blend is on the short-lived side, present only as a faint powder after an hour and a half, but its first hour is fun.

It's a whimsical summer scent. Tropical beaches, Thai restaurants.

Wet, Eyes Skyward is a lovely lemony frankincense on me. Mellow, sunshiny, and never veering close to lemon Pledge territory. As it dries down, the coconut and sandalwood emerge, and a hint of vanilla. A skin scent on me, and not a long-lasting one. I like it, but I may swap it to someone whose skin chemistry might allow it better throw and wear length.

Source: TPP Decant Circle

Preconception/Hopes: One of my favorite scents of all time is Phobos. I just love lemongrass. I was really hoping this one would be in that ballpark.

Imp: LEMONGRASS and lemon and wonderful sweet lemon.

Initial Skin: Oh super disappointing. It's just the faintest lemon curd ever. Faint, soft, creamy lemon. And that's it. 0 throw. Super faint even if I shove my nose into my skin. Is it because I have no faith? Is it the absolute faith that allows me to smell the heavens? I am doooooomed.

Drydown: Yeah I'm getting nothing new. This was just eaten by my skin. Soft lemon whispers.

Verdict: Super faint, whisper of lemons. No throw. My skin just ate this up. Super sad.

The only notes I can pick out individually are lemon and sandalwood. The sweet lemon scent is definitely the strongest scent, with sandalwood in the background, and the others rounding out the scent. As with many lemon scents I wish the other notes were more noticeable over the lemon. It's still pleasant though and had good longevity on me.

Gorgeous. Lemony, vanilla frankincense. Oddly, this combo of scents works well on me. It was worth a back up bottle for sure.

In the decant: Lemongrass, coconut, lemon peel, and frankincense are the notes that leap out at me.

Wet: Lemon, coconut, and frankincense are the first notes to appear, with the lemongrass being more prominent on me than the lemon peel. The frankincense in this one is light. As it sits on my skin, I start getting more of the lemon peel, but I wouldn’t say this is an in-your-face lemon scent. Yes, it’s lemony, but it is also rather soft and airy.

Dry: It’s lighter and not as lemon-y as before. Soft lemongrass and coconut stand out to me the most. After a while, the sandalwood note emerges and becomes one of the dominant notes along with the coconut, with what remains of the lemongrass behind those notes. I get a little vanilla, but it is so light by this point that I have to press my nose to my arm in order to smell it.

Verdict: This is a nice, airy scent. I wasn’t sure how the lemon and resins would play together, but this works. I will hold on to my decant for now, but I really wish this were stronger on me.
