Vampire Princess

Last Halloween, Lilith wanted to be Maleficent, so we hooked her up with a Maleficent costume. The horns were imbalanced, though, and she was frustrated, so she decided to wear the rest of the costumesans hornsand be a vampire. She looked amazing (in my motherly opinion), but when the time came to trick or treat, her voluminous skirts and flowing cape made it difficult for her to keep up with the other kids. We tried knotting it, hiking it up, everythingand in the end, she vowed never to wear another costume that she cant run and jump in.

Blood musk and lavender with bourbon vanilla, plum oudh, black patchouli, and Romanian wildflowers.

Upon first applying this, I got so excited. I smelled the lovely blood red musk, the lavender, and dare I say it- even the vanilla. It has a subtle sexiness and yet also a sweetness. Perfection. And then....all I could smell is dry wildflowers and some patch. The lavender is just barely discernible wayy in the background. All the muskiness and sweetness are sucked dry on me. It literally took my skin about 2 minutes to ruin this. If you don't have weird skin chemistry like I do, this would be absolutely gorgeous. I think this will be a massive winner for a lot of people.

I get plum, oudh, patchouli and musk. This smells dark, musky, and purple. With an overlay of florals. But it's a deeper, darker, blend. Medium throw and wear length.

Well, bite me on the neck and call me Lucy, this is so pretty. At the start, I get a purple chewing gum smell until the woodsy, dark patch begins to crawl in. It's a little vampire blowing bubbles! The plum and musk are upfront, along with purple patchouli and little wiffs of sweetness. After a few minutes, it gets deeper and rounder and the blood musk comes out. Sparkling, and just a bit spicy. After a few minutes, the bourbon vanilla smooths its way in for the finish, and i'm getting a very classy, romantic and seductive scent.

This is right out of the mailbox. I should likely let this settle. More than likely I will try it again in a week or so.

 

Wet: Dry dusty patchouli. Hints of something fruity...and oudh (but not the kind that smells like Poo, thank goodness). It's a really dry scent so far, not really my jam.

 

 

Dry: Wow, I did not have a lot of hope for this one, but this is a scent that really needs to warm on your skin. As it heats up, the plum and musk come out, and with the patchouli it almost has a Shadow In the Elevator vibe - dark, sinister, fruity musky goodness. There are hints of oudh still (which I am really not a fan of) but it's not overpowering. This is kind of sexy! Likely needs another test once it settles. With the oudh it may not be quite for me, but it's really good, much better than the initial sniff led me to believe it could be.

In the bottle: Plummy, musky, dark floral.

 

Wet on my skin: Beautiful wildflowers over dark, smooth, lovely musky plum and patchouli. I REALLY like this from the moment it goes on.

 

Dry: I think this has dethroned The Night-Raven and Black Moths as my favourite dark floral + plum/patchouli scent. It's a slightly lighter cousin to Black Moths, in particular. It could easily be placed in the Crimson Peak lineup, I think. There is an almost fabric-like, smooth, silky note that comes out as this dries, and it honestly smells like the exact kind of black silk/lace a vampire princess might wear. The plum oudh, blood musk, and patchouli are the main players closer to the skin, giving the whole perfume a deep, dark, lush "purple" quality, the vanilla I think helps to smooth it all out, and then over the top (particularly in the throw, not so much on the skin) are these beautiful, lightly-sweet wildflowers. I think there might be gypsy rose and cornflower in the floral notes, and not sure what else. Possibly crocus or tulip. It's all so well-blended that it is difficult to pick out any particular floral note. The lavender doesn't really show up at all as its own note, but rather joins the rest of the flowers in the wonderful cloud of purple now surrounding me at my desk.

 

I love this. I really think it may be in my top BPAL florals ever.

[Minh Scent]

This starts out with full blast of beautiful, smooth patchouli and musk. The plum comes into play in drydown, as does a lovely light floral veil, with the lavender not popping out as a solo note to my nose. The overall effect is a sexy, sophisticated, plum-sweet patchouli perfume. Fantastic! I agree with DiesMali there is family connection with Black Moths.

Dark, aggressive musk and lavender at first. Dries to something like a stronger Snake Oil, musky blend without the vanilla. Reminds me of a lot of bpal blends that have an 'edge' to them, like Crimson, Shadow in the Elevator, Panther Moon, etc. There is nothing really unique about this blend, until a few hours later, when a get whiffs of soft lavender over a slight musky base. I have a lot of blends like this, so don't need any more, and I barely smell it when it does get quite lovely.

This is stunning. It reminds me a lot of Shadow in the Elevator and Black Moths. It's very purple. Plummy and sophisticated. I really love this one, and I'm so glad I have a bottle.

Despite having a ton of musky, dark-floral perfumes from BPAL, I couldn't resist this one.

 

I get patchouli (smooth and whispery), purple florals (mournful), and lavender/vanilla (silky and sweet).

 

Floral offerings in the bedroom of a vampire child. Baby Countess Bathory. Or even a first-time perfume choice for a vampire maiden, reaching for the darker shades of her future. I am in love.

Smells like a really good floral cocktail, I'm guessing because of the mix of floral and herbal qualities. They give it just enough bite to make it not oversweet. A little too much patchouli for me, but still gorgeous.

Hmm. It's a thick, goopy oil in the lil vile; this is definately what jumped out over all the other imps I had lying under my nose just now. Definately getting all the notes; it's quite a sensual, warm and dark; gets a lil more on the oudh-y and green side on me once it dries down.

Heavy florals, but I'm also getting a bit of that dusty hippie shop kinda feel with this.... But it's an evil dusty hippie shop.
