Alice Hair Gloss

Recommended Posts

Curiouser and curiouser. Milk and honey with rose, carnation and bergamot.

I'm a huge fan of the Mad Tea Party collection. It was inspired by my favorite book, and I have more wins from that line than any other category of the general catalog. I'm also a huge fan of sugary floral scents.

That said, I did not vote for Alice hair gloss in the Lunacy Poll, but only because it was up against TKO, which I love even more.

So I was delighted when the goblins decided to make Alice hair gloss a thing as well. :D

In the bottle, it is the spicy, creamy floral that I know and love.

Once applied to the hair, it differs from the perfume oil in that there is a brief blast of rose before I get CARNATION LIKE WHOA. This is some seriously spicy carnation. I wonder if there is some cinnamon in that note that contributes to the spiciness, because when I applied it to my wet hair on Sunday, it felt really spicy and hot (especially when I would rest my head against my hand), and when I applied it to my dry hair on Monday and held my hair up to my nose, my lips burned a little when they encountered my hair.

I find it interesting that the carnation note is so strong in hair gloss form. I guess I thought I would get less carnation in my hair than on my skin (since my skin has turned some scents featuring that note into what might as well be a carnation single note), but that wasn't the case.

After several hours, the milk and honey note started to emerge more. The carnation has softened, allowing the rose to peek out once again, but it is still quite prominent. I prefer this stage of the scent, and it is so lovely to get a waft of that milk and honey note paired with the spicy carnation when walking in the wind.
I plan on pairing this hair gloss with Alice, Alice in the Pumpkin Patch, and Queen Alice. But since I don't really wear two of those scents until autumn rolls around, and I already own a ridiculous amount of hair gloss, I think one bottle of this will suffice.

I totally agree with dementia - from first spritz to the morning after, this is heavy spicy carnation right up front and through and through. As it mellows after the first 30 minutes or so, the milk and honey do add a creamy kind of softness to the smell - though I never get much in the way of bergamot or rose - just like 90% spicy carnation - like the SN Spanish Red Carnation - which I love, so for me, this is great!

Agree with those above. Alice HG is all about the spicy carnation on first spray. It's much more prominent than in the BPAL perfume. Like Dementia, I find it so spicy that it reminds me of cinnamon. As a lover of spicy carnation, though, this is heaven to me. After the initial blast I find it quite quickly mellows down. The milk and honey make the carnation sweeter and creamier, morphing it from WHOA spicy to mmm sweet and spicy.

Unfortunately, compared to all of my other HG, Alice doesn't stick around very long. I find that on me at least she's gone within the hour even with a healthy dosage. It's a shame because I absolutely LOVE it while it lasts.

Oh Alice. :wub2:

The perfume oil is mostly carnation on me, with hints of sweet rich honey. I find the hair gloss to be quite similar to that. It's rich and spicy, without being overpowering. I found that this had pretty good lasting power. I have dry hair and so only wash every second day, and I could still smell whiffs of this in my hair the next day. This is the first hair gloss I've tried though, so I don't have a point of reference as far as staying power or throw.

As far as actual benefit to my hair, I can't really say yet. It'll take some trial and error to know how much to use without weighing my hair down, while still getting the moisture I need. My usual brand of hair oil (Bio Silk) is amazing for me, so it will be hard to top that but this certainly smells way better! I thoroughly enjoyed using it and look forward to trying more scents.

Origin: Straight from the Post

Original Thoughts: Based on my review at the time, it seems that the rose in Alice wasn't too pushy and didn't turn into cooked collards on my skin, but neither did my beloved carnation stand out. Since I have discovered that my hair likes rose, I figured I'd try the hair gloss, even though I wanted The Reaper and the Flowers.

In the Bottle: Spicy carnation with a rich, heady creaminess. This first impression is much sexier than how I described the perfume ten years ago. How much has my nose changed...

Applying: Lovely carnation but with a zing from the bergamot.

Drying: And we’re back to creamy carnation. The spicy element to the carnation isn’t as prevalent as before.

Wearing: Yesterday I used only 4-5 spritzes. That got the lovely silky shine, but the scent was very quiet. Today I used 7-8 spritzes and while the scent is still gentle in character, I can catch whiffs as I move my head around. Creamy carnation and now I get a dash of rose.

Verdict: Glad I nabbed it. This will be a good addition to the wear-to-work scents.

Milky carnation, with a hint of bergamot.

Yup, this is Alice. There's something really comforting about Alice as a hair gloss. I sort of wish it was either a lotion or bath oil, that way I could slather it on.

Oof this is so stinking pretty. Full disclosure: I'm a huge carnation lover. I love Alice the perfume but she's not quite heavy enough on the carnation for me. So this hair gloss is perfect! It's a huge blast of spicy floral carnation that eventually dries down into a creamy, honey tinged carnation. The throw on this is moderate (not as huge as Boo, which scents my entire office for the entire day) and sticks around for a good 6 hours before I have to really try and notice it. Sheer perfection, well done Puddin!

Alice oil on my skin was always heavy spicy carnation with the softest hint of something like sweet cream, and the HG is no different. Just lovely. I'm so glad the TP put this together!

you know, strangely, I never had a bottle of Alice as a perfume (Alice obsessed here, I have her tattooed on my leg), although I did have a crowd of the others, Cheshire Cat, The Caterpillar, The Red Queen, Queen of Hearts, Knave of Hearts sure I have forgotten someone...and I love Alice's Evidence but never bought an actual Alice.

I did however get the HG, and it's lovely. I pair it with florals or other "tea" things.

This is Alice, just the real little odd and weird Alice :bunnyluv:

It is exactly the same as the perfume is, but maybe a little bit stronger ...

I love it and even though I was really doubting because I never go for the C scents the TP makes,

I am super happy that I did go for this one! NO regrets and I sometimes use it in my bedroom aswell,

it is such a happy and comforting scent! And offcorse also very curious ;)

This is a true work horse - it never lets you down. I jog before work in the mornings, and I am always both scared that I'll be bad-stinky and scared that I will be over-the-top with good-stinky. Alice solves *all* of my problems. It's less sweet and honey-like than the oil, but instead a slightly spicy carnation with supporting backbone of sugar. Totally lab work friendly, and totally lovely. The throw isn't as strong as some other HGs, but that makes it more user-friendly for work. I really wish that this becomes a GC HG, because it's just plain pretty.

This is my go to everyday hair gloss. I love the Alice perfume oil and the hair gloss does not disappoint! It pretty much smells exactly like the perfume oil, but maybe a little stronger on the carnation ( I love carnation so this works for me!). I don't know what else to say, it's really quite lovely!

Mmm spicy creamy floral Alice goodness. It's like the perfume oil with the carnation slightly nudged up. I used my decant of this a lot during the winter time but now that it's much warmer, I'm not really feeling Alice in all her forms. I'll wait to bust her out again when November rolls around (omg that's less than half a yr away?! which is both good and bad haha)

I apply Alice HG to wet hair and upon drying, carnation kicks ahead of the pack :)
