Puddin' is Naughty Bath Oil

Recommended Posts

To me, this is the bath oil version of El Dia De Los Reyes. Sweet, cinnamon cocoa. Also reminiscent of Underbed, but heavy on the hot chocolate scent.

Nommy!

Oh man, I meant to review this earlier today and totally forgot. My best estimate is that this is an unreleased bath oil, and that most the origin time was Yule 2013, and a few people received this in their BPTP order then. I think Puddin' just cooked up a bunch of it and sent it out in the world (sort of like how SSDB got Sweet Barking Cheese, and then decanted some for forumites for the testing experience).

I have to agree with Ordo_ad_Chao - this is a sweet, cinnamon cocoa. The cocoa is a little powdery on me. I can see the comparison to El Dia de Reyes. It actually reminds me to the chocolate in the recent Pumpkin Smores. It's like a cocoa + marshmallow, and cinnamon instead of graham cracker.

It's foodie and chocolatey, and it reminds me to any bath oil blend that has a heavy chocolate/cocoa note to it.

Origin: Unexpected extra in a purchase from a fellow BPALer

Initial Thoughts: None, since I had only the vaguest idea that this existed.

In the Bottle: CHOCOLATE! In-your-face dark chocolate. A second sniff produces an underlying extra sweetness that makes me think of cake or brownies.

On the Skin: Definitely more chocolate baked goods than pure chocolate. A slight nuttiness tilts it further toward brownie.

Verdict: Well, if you ever wanted to take a bath in the scent of fresh-baked brownies, this would be your answer. But I have never been one to want to wear chocolate as a scent when I'd rather eat it. Therefore I will find some way to give this partial bottle a deserving home.

I received this as an extra from the lovely puck_nc, and I am sorry to say that it will NOT be released into the wild to be tested by more of my bpalista friends because OMG I LOVE THIS AND KEEPING IT AND YOU CANNOT STOP ME.

Seriously, it's worth the all caps. Puddin', if you read this, I would buy more of this stuff.

In the bottle it sort of smelled generically chocolate to me and made me think of the various 13s I've tried over the years. I honestly was not super excited. But I wanted a bath and I was out of anything else pampering so I threw a dollop in.

As soon as it mixed with the hot water the scent of this stuff started to bloom. The chocolate is deep and cocoa-like, reminding me of the very quality cocoa powder I use for baking my chocolate porter cake. But there is also a healthy dash of spice in this. It's not cinnamon or cassia (so no worries for the lad bits), but possibly cardamom and saffron. There's also a lovely nuttiness here which reminds me of Queen of Sheba, so I expect some almond found its way in there as well. In fact, I think this smells very much like Queen of Sheba with cocoa.

I am in LOVE.
