BPAL Madness!

Sloe gin, peach blossoms, banjo strings, hay bales, and apple pie.

This is a sharp, high, metallic scent. After smelling a lot of the others, this one really jumps out and slaps you and is distinctly different.

In the bottle: metallic and fruity, and, oh hi, gin, kinda fruity gin, but GIN. maybe some apple pie back in the background? maybe? hi gin!

wet on skin: soo sharp and piercing! fruity gin and still lots of metallic notes. Kinda sorta is hitting a memory about spinning pinwheels - think that one was fruity metal too...

dry: the gin has calmed down tremendously, and the metal has blown off, now it's mostly slightly dusty hay bales, a touch of peach blossom, and maybe a thought that there was a piece of apple pie somewhere leftover in the kitchen, but you're not quite sure.

Overall, fairly complex, comes out strong on the high notes, and mellows down after a bit, but it takes a bit, and ends somewhere nice and homely. Would be hard to classify - not floral, really - and only really boozy up front - same for metallic, and definitely not foodie... nice one, though!

Star Promenade is my favorite of all the Georgia Musks. It's very fruity on me - apple pie and peach at the front of everything. The rest of the notes give it an atmospheric quality. It's like eating apple pie outside at a picnic on a warm late summer evening. I love when Beth can capture an atmosphere like that, it's pretty magical.

in the bottle I smell juniper and nickle-plated steel!! gin and banjo strings!!!

wet on my skin there's a touch of fruit and floral coming forward. as it dries down I can also smell the hay. If there's any apple pie it's not spiced and blends in with the fruit and florals.

all of these scents coming together remind me of the smell of freshly shampooed hair. all-american, teen dream, cheerleading captain, class president, all star athlete, girl next door, 4h club member hair. (as all-american as apple pie. there's the pie!)

this is a clean, crisp and very cool in tone scent.

So much juniper. So sharp. So strong. When this first arrived all I got was fizzy gin, like in Golden Wave, but now after settling for a week it's strong metallic juniper with no fruit. I love the note but this is so strong it almost turns my stomach. Dried I get less metal and a little more fruit, but it's still a bit too harsh to wear.

Well, hell's bells.

Star Promenade was the one that I was most excited about, despite my trepidations and I have to say that it smells beautiful and cool to me. It's gin, hints of metal strings, hay and apple. Both the peach blossom and apple do well to warm up and add spice to the cooler tones that both the gin and banjo strings bring, and while it ends up in the cool end of the spectrum, its a slightly fruity, slightly fizzy cool perfume.

In alot of ways it reminds me to the Harvesters, but cooler/boozier and with apple instead of pear.

Would not need more than a partial, but when you want to smell cool, interesting, and just a little quirky, Star Promenade is it.

And now, off to hunt.

Sharp! Doesn't really read as metallic to me because it's fruity at the same time. A kind of indistinct, high-pitched apple I guess?

This is pretty overwhelmingly boozy and fizzy. Too strong on me.

In the imp: Fruity and REALLY sharp. I think that's the sloe gin talking.

Wet on skin: Still sharp, alcohol soaked apple and peach.

Dried down: This is actually a rather nice fruity scent at the moment, but for some reason, it's not appealing to me.

Throw: Bit of a fruity throw, although it's fading fairly quickly.

Verdict: *** 1/* Nice, I guess. I think one might require a second try. I don't dislike it, but I feel like I ought to like it a lot more than I do. Especially now that the booze has calmed down...

Star Promenade starts out with a fizzy gin that reminds me of the Atomic Tiki bar scents from a few years ago. As it dries, I pick up metallic and wood notes. Peach blossoms never appear for me but in the final dry down stage I get a hint of apple pie in the distance. Over all this is mostly gin with the memory of baked apples. :)

Fizzy gin and apple pie. This definitely reminds me of other BPAL fizzy cocktail scents. Wet, I get the fruit scents mixing with the gin to give that fruity booze vibe, but as it starts to dry the fruits back up a bit and I get a little bit more of the metallic sharpness.

This is a bright, fruity, odd sort of scent. I actually think I'm going to have to more fully skin test it, as the scent seemed to change as I wore it. Farther drydown has a bit of peachy-ness pop up again.

Mmm gin! I love the lab's gin note in the early stages, it is so fresh and effervescent. After a bit, though, the gin note often turns into a fungal smell on me, akin to a mild mushroom. Here, it lasts a bit longer, but I'm still getting the fungus vibe. Sigh.

I swapped my bottle away, and then recently picked up an imp of it. How different this is than my bottle! It's still got the high, sharp gin note but it's tempered by obvious peach and something that might be apple or pie, but grounds it well. Much more pleasant, although I don't need a whole bottle.
