Edgar Miche, Mysterious Adventurer

Recommended Posts

Brown leather, dusted by the spices of his many voyages: cardamom, red sandalwood, sweet clove, white mastic, mandrake powder, and galangal.

This scent is definitely fitting for a dashing, mysterious adventurer!
The leather note in the bottle is definitely a new-ish brown leather -- not quite worn in, but still fairly smooth. However, once on my skin, this scent transforms into a melange of roots and spices as well as what seems to be campfire smoke. I suspect it is the red sandalwood that is coming across as this note. The leather is still there in the background, but overall the spices really dominate. To my nose, this one almost smells like I wore a new-ish brown leather jacket around a campfire and sniffed said jacket the day after.

Yes, rooty! Almost chemical, medicinal, dusty, spicy roots. Slightly nose-tickling! I also agree with kashmira on the campfire aspect-- there is definitely a sweet smokiness here. The brown leather is prominent, but blends so well with the other notes that it doesnt seem apart from them. No one note stands out.. even my friend clove that so often muscles through everything else. Not at all sweet, almost savory (even a little salty). Dry, warm, smooth.

In bottle: Leather Dominant, with the mandrake adding a hint of corruption. The sandalwood is pervasive, but very well blended with the leather. The clove, cardamom, and galangal are understated, lending an air of travel to far off places without screaming spice. Wet: Sweeter and much spicier on my skin. If the bottle scent was a baritone, this would be a particularly rich tenor. The spices really come out on my skin in their own right, sailing over that slightly disreputable leather as if to distract from it’s darker depths. In the bottle, it bellowed its masculinity; on my skin, it wears lighter and more subtly masculine in its sexuality. Here, the sandalwood is a bridge between the leather and the spices, blending with both and keeping them thematically linked. This is sexy and a little dangerous. Warning, I am getting a very mild skin reaction, so this might not be good for people with sensitive skin. Dry: The slightly mandrake corrupted leather with a wicked hint of spice.

In the bottle: This is more like the Lab's black leather note, which smells like a vat of odd chemicals mixed together to cure hides. :(

Wet: Much as on cold sniff. May be a hint of the spices.

The dry-down: Not a morpher, not really. The chemical leather note calmed down, but only a little bit. There's a hint of the other notes, but just faintly. :cry2:

First of all, let me say, as a believer (and bit of a fan) of Sasquatch, a subscriber to of Coast to Coast with George Noory (the Sasquatch episodes are always a favorite) and my undying love of Indiana Jones…this is the perfect scent for me. I'm a little weird with Sasquatch topics of conversation too, when I hear someone call them "Bigfoot" it grates on me and I resist the urge to obnoxiously correct them, "Ahem, that's 'squatch." Edgar Miche is the only scent from this series I've tried so far (and the one I was most excited about) but I know it's going to rank as a favorite next to BPALs Black Helicopters line. I am SO happy I have a bottle of this.

Ok, on with the review...although I don't think I can top Gwydion's!

In the bottle I get a De Sade-like leather note. It's brown, worn and soft. On my skin the leather is a lot softer than it is in the bottle, it's more of a suede now. The mandrake adds a light, herbal quality to this. When I inhale deeply, the perfume is chilly to the nose (similar to a menthol feeling). Could that be the white mastic? The chilliness, the leather and the herbal quality gives me the impression of fresh air and outdoor adventures. As it dries, the cardamon, clove and sandalwood come through but never over take the suede, which is still dominant. The middle is an exotic spiced dusted leather with a bit of incense dancing in the background. As it dries further, I amp the clove ever so slightly, but the leather won't let it take over. I'm left with a gorgeous soft leather scent over a steady base of sandalwood and light, breezy spices.

Edgar Miche is a sexy second skin scent with a low throw but long wear time. I wouldn't classify this as masculine, it's more unisex and is leather/spice dominant.

The Lab hit it out of the park with this one. Lovers of leather, come hither! :wub2:

Soft brown leather, with cardamom and spices.

I honestly prefer this to Leopold which had obnoxious black leather if I'm to pick a leather blend. The brown leather note is similar to that of Quincy Morris, and the cardamom and spices ensure that it softens the blend up further for wearing.

Leather first off, brown and soft. After a bit, the leather fades, and the blend becomes more woody, kind of like sandalwood. Ends up pretty much like sandalwood, with a touch of soft, brown leather. Reminds me a teeny bit of Crowley, but with less musk and oomph. Masculine, so I wouldn't wear it, and I already have Crowley, which is better imho.

I really enjoy this, for all that I was worried that cardamom would overwhelm everything! This is mostly leather, but with a melange of herbs/spices that I couldn't begin to pick out individually. It definitely tends toward the masculine, but that's okay for me, because there are days that I want something like this. I think this may just have made its way into the keeper box!
