kashmira Report post Posted February 21, 2014 The last lamenting kiss: velvet red rose absolute with sweet myrrh, amber honey, and red sandalwood. The scent reminds me of a heavy-lidded beauty, face upturned, lips poised to provide one final kiss..Wet on my skin, the amber and myrrh are most prominent.Once dry, the sandalwood and rose decide to take over, with the luscious rose mostly dominating.Over all this one is truly lovely. I'm very glad I have a bottle.
dementia_divine Report post Posted March 8, 2014 In the decant: Damn! The myrrh is the most prominent note in the decant. The rose is present, but I am mainly just getting myrrh from this. Wet: The myrrh is the dominant note. The resins and the rose in this remind me of other resin-y rose blends that have emerged lately, like Ossa Arida, The Future Ball, and Little Pythia. Dry: The blend is no longer sharp. It is now sweeter, and I think that can be attributed to the amber honey. Nevertheless, it is still a resin-y rose blend. Verdict: If you're a fan of the resin-y rose blends I mentioned above, or just happen to like the combination of rose and resins, you will probably like this. However, the myrrh is too prominent in this blend for me. I won't be needing a bottle of this one.
claudia6913 Report post Posted March 9, 2014 The Expiration is a dark blend as well, but in a different way. The myrrh is very prominent and it's both sweeter and more resinous than I thought it would be. The sandalwood comes out after drydown and the rose is soft and wafting. The amber honey is a sweet resin, the myrrh a nice base holding it down. Honestly I think this blend is my favorite out of the Lupers.
toku Report post Posted March 15, 2014 (edited) Well, shucks. I really like this blend out of the decant, but sadly, after an hour or so, I get a faint but very persistent bug spray overtone. I seem to remember having this problem with other rose and incense blends, and I'm rather saddened that I might have to avoid them in the future because separately, they're some of my favorite notes. UPDATE 3/25: so about 10 days after first trying it, it's suddenly better! It's still a little bit spicy/sharp, but it's warmer (almost cinnamony) and muuuch less chemical on me. I'm wondering if it was the red sandalwood that was misbehaving. maybe it's settled a bit or my body chemistry has changed just enough? I'm probably not going to spring for a bottle because I'm still a bit doubtful that the issue is fixed; however, I'm glad it's at least wearable for now! zankoku_zen Report post Posted March 18, 2014 Heavy red rose, hints of myrrh and sandalwood. For those of you that love lush red rose blends like Peacock Queen, give this a whirl. It's heavy red rose + a good dash of sensuality.
Magycmyste Report post Posted March 19, 2014 This will be my 500th post! Whoo! In the imp: Crimson, voluptuous rose Wet on skin: Still a lovely rose. Dried down: As it's drying down, I'm getting a better sense of the myrrh. It's very pretty. And the sandalwood's starting to come out, too. Throw: Blended myrrh and rose. This just makes me want to keep breathing it in! It's like Velvet, but with rose instead of cocoa. And the sandalwood peeking out from behind the myrrh, just at the end. Verdict: **** 1/* I may need to test it one more time, but I'm fairly certain I will want a bottle of this. Or two.
theseagrows Report post Posted March 24, 2014 (edited) alright, i'm not sure what the culprit is, but something in this is going sour and wonky on me. i suspect it is the red sandalwood. sandalwood in small amounts is fine, but i think in large amounts, it turns sour smelling and lead-like and then my skin amps it, yay. i can smell it mixed with the rose, but not really any of the other notes. damn, i had high hopes for this and i am fairly sure if the other notes were more dominant, that i would've liked this better with my skin chemistry. unfortunately, sandalwood and i sometimes don't get along. thekittenkat Report post Posted April 16, 2014 In the imp: A red rose sprinkled delicately w/ myrrh, amber, honey, and sandalwood. Wet: A rather nice red rose scent mixed w/ the lovely resins. The dry-down: The resins have turned the rose into powder, or maybe it's the other way round. Disappointed, but the dark roses can do just that.
milo Report post Posted August 11, 2014 Soft, powdery rose, kind of sweet with some resin's thrown in. A little too much myrrh for me, but overall not bad for a rose blend.
tinyvulture Report post Posted October 19, 2014 It seems like there have been a number of recent rose and honey blends. I love the lab's honey but this doesn't feel new to me. I do enjoy the addition of sweet myrrh to the rose and honey. It's pretty, for sure, just not a standout for me.
bulletslc Report post Posted February 14, 2015 (edited) This is probably the best rose scent I've tried. I love Queen Venus with a Hood Striped Black and Gold but even in that blend the rose comes across sharp. In The Expiration the rose is deep dark and rounded. Gorgeous and well blended with the other notes into a seamless whole. Edited May 14, 2015 by Bulletslc
