Numanoid Report post Posted December 14, 2013 Always fun to be first!!!All I can say is....YYYYUUUMMMM!!!! If you ever got the chance to try the perfume oil, this is JUST as yummy!!Sniffing in the bottle, it is a delicious mixture of all three...chocolate, espresso, and gingerbread!! Haven't had a chance to test this yet, since I already showered for the day, but I can tell this will be amazing on!!! If you liked the oil, you will not be disappointed!!!! GET GET GET!!! UPDATE: So I used this today for the first time just out of the shower...any of you non-bath takers, NO FEAR!! This goes on beautifully and soaks in without any oily residue, but leaves skin soft and the scent.... I was so hoping and wishing on every shooting star that they would make a 5ml perfume oil of this (hint hint) because I got to try the imp of it and it was not enough. When I saw this came out in bath oil form, I had to have it....might have to get a back up to last me!!!PLEASE make a gallon bucket of this in perfume oil!!!! AmyO'Shields Report post Posted December 15, 2013 (edited) Great googly moogly... This is perfect (if you like this type of perfection!) and I am so excited to have this! I put a tiny drop on my wrist and smooshed it in and I am so in love with this (and will layer it with Snake Oil and Snow White and many others)...it is so chewy and gooey and yummy-very true to its name. Chocolate, Espresso (just a touch of bitterness) and Gingerbread. LOVE. ETA This is already aging well. :-) I may need more bottles... ETA 2 This is aging so well! The gingerbread is more prominent now and it is smooooth! Edited February 23, 2014 by Herb Girl
Leopard403 Report post Posted January 9, 2014 Not quite sure how I feel about Chocolate Espresso Gingerbread. In fairness, I've only used it as an after-shower moisturizer at this point, so I base my review on that. When sniffed from the bottle and during application this scent is A-MAZ-ING. Every part of the oil's name is identifiable and it literally made my mouth water a little. After a moment on the skin, however, the gingerbread really takes over the other notes; but even more disappointing is the fact that after about five minutes this smells, well, off. The only thing that comes to my mind is "spicy cardboard." I'm hoping this will change a little upon use in the bath, or upon aging a bit. If I could just keep it from morphing away from that first delicious blast!
killerklown Report post Posted January 30, 2014 Sniffing it in the bottle it smells of delicious coffee and chocolate. Usually the first time I test bath oils I do a test in the tub first, then a direct skin test as I can have vastly different results. This is a direct in tub test. First off, this stuff is strong. I put two tiny squirts in and it was almost overwhelming. The chocolate lingers for a bit but then is overwhelmed by COFFEE. The gingerbread, to my nose, was almost non existent. It's nice, don't get me wrong, but this may need a lot of aging for me (like the first incarnation of Pumpkin Latte did- it did the same thing at first too) to get rid of the screaming coffee note. milo Report post Posted February 5, 2014 I was really looking forward to trying this, as it smells so YUM in the bottle. Sadly, it ends up being musty dusty chocolate that fell into a pot of coffee that was sitting all day. Glad I didn't go for a bottle, because I did like the perfume version, I think. zankoku_zen Report post Posted March 23, 2014 This is amazing. Coffee, hints of chocolate and gingerbread spices. It's like a dark, spicy coffee. And a little goes a long way. While foodie, I think the coffee adds a bitter edge to the entire blend so that it isn't overwhelmingly foodie. I've tried Gingerbread Poppet and it was too foodie for me. I find that THIS however is just sweet enough, just on the right side of foodie without making you crave food. Comforting, delicious, bath stuff. You'll want to swim in it. FOREVER. Poenari Report post Posted November 29, 2014 (edited) I debated long and hard about buying this last year, but decided to pass on it. So when it showed up on the latest Etsy update, I threw caution to the wind and bought it! I always use my bath oils as a moisturizer after shower/bath, instead of in the bath. As with all the other bath oils, this spreads smoothly, soaks in quickly, and leaves my skin wonderfully soft and moisturized. My initial worry about buying this last year was based on concern about how strong the espresso note would be. While I love the smell of coffee and espresso, it tends to amp in a scorched coffee way on my skin. However, gingerbread and chocolate usually wear quite well on me. I tried this initially by using a very small amount (just a few drops) on my hands, rubbing in as if it were a hand lotion. Unfortunately, the espresso immediately stomps over everything and turns very bitter, as I had feared it might. It completely drowned out the gingerbread, although the chocolate holds it own against the espresso. This scent is extremely strong in the bottle and on skin. It took at least an hour for it to soften up and dry down to a "liveable" level for me as far as the espresso note. I doubt that I will be able to wear this in my usual manner, because of the bitterness. Perhaps after it ages. Edited to add: I layered this with a small amount of Gingerbread Poppet bath oil to see if that would help, and it seems to work! The espresso is still the dominant note, but adding Gingerbread Poppet sweetens the blend and tones it down to a wearable level for me. I will keep my bottle and see what happens after it has aged, too. In the meantime, I will wear it layered with Gingerbread Poppet. lizabelle Report post Posted March 4, 2017 I wasn't expecting it, but this might be my second-favorite bath oil so far (after Hidden Purpose). As with the other BPAL/BPTP gingerbread blends I've sniffed, this is a very bready gingerbread--no cookies here. It's also more spicy than sweet, which gets no complaints for me. At the start there's a dusting of cocoa powder over the gingerbread, like a garnish, which surprisingly is very nice. Over time the gingerbread fades and the coffee makes itself known; the final stage is like ground coffee mixed with cocoa powder and left to just mingle that way. It's dry but amazing. It's also one of the most powerfully fragrant of the bath oils I've tried, and it lasts a long time on the skin. Totally worth it if you like the listed notes!
