January Garnet Report post Posted August 17, 2013 Cold leaded glass, bone chip snow, and glycerin. Snow Globe gives me the impression of of an icy winter landscape at midnight. We are inside the snow globe, not outside peering in. I don't usually like mint, but this is amazing. There is also some sort of soft flower in it that I can't quite place. For those who are worried, have no fear, there is not a hint of plastic smell to be found. I originally was going to pass on this one, but after reading some will call reviews, I decided to go for it. This might be the sleeper hit of this round of Coraline scents. SadariEvenstar Report post Posted August 22, 2013 (edited) Take Humpback Whale (which I love), tone down the mint, add flowers and a bit of soap and this is what you get. It is refreshing and light, but not for me. 15 minutes later. No, yuck. This smells like stale vomit with a side of toothpaste. JazzieCazzie Report post Posted August 22, 2013 Got an imp in a decant circle. Prefacing here -- I decided to get imps of EVERY available scent in this circle out of sheer curiosity (with the exception of Black Taffeta, which I already had) rather than picking and choosing based on notes or descriptions. And I think had I done the latter, I would NOT have chosen this one. I'm so glad I did it this way. IN THE IMP: Very very interesting. Bright, clean, slightly minty and slightly white floral. And something else I can't quite put my finger on. I want to say plastic except that I think most of us associate "plastic smell" as a negative and this isn't negative at all. Dabbed on one wrist and in the crook of my arm. WET: WOWZA! This is so not what I would have expected. In fact it's the polar -- well, NON-polar -- opposite. It is VERY floral on me. A white floral, but not the lily-soapy kind of white floral. If I had to guess at the flower I think I'd say white lilac (even though that would probably be wrong). It's gorgeous and springy and lovely and heady but not "in your face" at all. DRYDOWN: Just wonderful. I am not a fan of ozone or mint or snow or the other general "feeling/atmospheric" blends most of the time which is why I was not optimistic about this. But, on me, for whatever reason, there is NO ozone or mint or snow. Just the smell of spring flowers. And warmth. Weird, huh? OVERALL: A surprise keeper. And I'm glad for that because I happen to LOVE "snow globes" and have a small collection (not a big one, but whenever I would travel for work I'd try to find cool ones to bring home to Cazzie Lite). On a scale of 1-5, a 4.
dementia_divine Report post Posted August 24, 2013 (edited) I was really excited to try this one, mainly due to the snow note. In the imp, I could detect a soft mint, the 'glass' description, and a bit of a soapy-vibe. On my skin, I still get the soft mint, I can envision the glass of a snow globe when I sniff my arm, but there's a slightly soapy vibe still. I am pretty sure that there is a floral in this, and I'm not sure if I like it. I am generally fond of florals, but I just really wasn't expecting one in this particular scent. It's probably the floral contributing to the slight soapiness I am getting from this scent. (That said, I don't know what the 'glycerin' note is supposed to smell like). Furthermore, when I think of a snow globe, I don't think of florals at all. I'm kind of disappointed, actually, because I was expecting more snow and less... this. *edit* All of the snow is gone now, and all that remains is violet. I am not fond of violet, so that explains my dislike of the floral note! I thought there might be violet in this earlier, but I wasn't sure... well, I can definitely say that it's violet now. Verdict: I will not upgrade to a bottle, and I don't think I will hold onto the decant. Edited August 24, 2013 by dementia_divine
Monday Report post Posted September 18, 2013 Mint and violet, sweet mint that is, not the nose biting sharp version. The violet is going a bit weird on me after a while, it gives the blend an old feeling like the snow globe has been stashed away for a century or so. This is somewhat more herbal than I had expected. Not a bad scent but not for me.
milo Report post Posted September 24, 2013 I'm getting the labs snow note right off the bat. After a bit I could swear there's some orris poking out. This smells a lot like Silver Phoenix when dry, and less of a snow blend. This is pretty and would be nice for spring. I may hunt down a decant.
zankoku_zen Report post Posted October 23, 2013 Mint, mint, mint. This is the minty mint of a toothpaste (hallo eucalyptus) and there's a hint of glass and soap as well. Oddly enough, it would make a wonderful blend for Christmas and scenting a room. (The bathroom seems like a logical fit.)
Casablanca Report post Posted May 26, 2016 Wand: Dusty white frost and white plastic.Wet: This smells like artificial winter. Minty, sugary, vanillic, and plasticky, plus violet flowers, I think. It's like a sweetened toothpaste somehow combined with the flavor of the toothbrush itself.Dry: On my skin, winter quickly passes away and leaves the violet and plastic. Blood onmy hands Report post Posted July 29, 2016 I agree with other reviewers in that this smells like a minty, mentholic toothpaste scent. Also has a generic white bar soap smell in the drydown. Not for me, but maybe a good choice if you wanted to smell really clean.
AraliaShine Report post Posted May 9, 2018 Definitely violet and mint and some soapiness. Difficult to pin down, but the glass/plastic/glycerin? note(s) kept shifting on my skin and tugging the notes I did recognize along with it. It's as if it sometimes contains them and they sometimes drift out... Some whiffs I really liked and some seemed a bit odd. I wore it on quite a warm day and it was refreshing at times, perplexing at others. It does feel like scent memories in a bubble, captured just out of reach. I do like violet and it did hold my interest. ~ Will keep wearing the decant to see what I get under varying conditions.
