quikslvr Report post Posted June 17, 2005 Lush, creamy vanilla and the honey of the sweetest kiss smeared with the vital throb of husky clove, swollen red cherries, but darkened with the vampiric sensuality of vetiver, soporific poppy and blood red wine, and a skin-light pulse of feral musk. Starts strong on the dragon's blood and vetiver. Moves into floral, then settles into a nice dragon's blood vanilla that's got a darker undercurrent than Dragon's Milk. Unfortunately, it's fading fast on me today.
gangstaknitta Report post Posted June 20, 2005 (edited) In the bottle: It smells rather creamy, but not foody. I can smell the cherries a little bit, but it's not very strong. The red wine note adds a pleasing bite with the sweetness. The musk is bold without being overpowering. I like it so far. Wet: The clove is dominant on my skin. I'm not sure what the base note is. It might be the vetiver, I've never smelled it before. Dry: This scent faded rather quickly. The honey was stronger on the dry-down, but overall the scent was too light, I think. I also didn't like how long the clove lingered. edited because I cannot format to save my life. Edited June 20, 2005 by gangstaknitta
Dark Seraphim Report post Posted June 22, 2005 (edited) Smelt: Basically smelt like a fine wine. Very nice. With some more whiffs, I noticed that it smelt like chocolate covered wine and cherries. Worn: It becomes what was mentioned above. The scent doesn't seem to change much, except the cherry scent becomes even more prominant, and there's a 'twig' scent that appears. The oil does fine on my wrists, but seems to burn everywhere else. Burner: The scents I got were pretty much the same, but faded faster than other oils I've burnt. Very pleasant though. This is the sort of scent that I wouldn't mind as an imp, but I can't imagine buying a larger bottle. I ended up puttting it in a spray bottle, which was pleasant. Not a bad scent, but not quite for me. 6/10. Edited June 22, 2005 by Dark Seraphim
arabella Report post Posted June 23, 2005 (edited) First impression: Very strong honey and cloves - so sweet it almost makes me gag. Dries down to: More of the same and, unfortunately, boy does it ever last. I could still smell it when I woke up the next day. Additional comments: This one confirmed that I have to really watch out for honey notes. I hated honey when I was a child because I used to have to drink hot milk with honey and butter in it. As an adult, honey itself hasn't really bothered me until I tried this scent. Lasted: Way too long! Rating: 1 out of 5 Edited due to technical oooops! ismene Report post Posted June 26, 2005 I love cherries and vanilla. I love honey and cloves. You'd think I'd love this, but it's just not working on me and I've tried it several times. In the bottle it's fine, if a little too strong. On my skin it turns a bit sour, though I can easily pick out all the listed notes. I think it might be the wine note that's doing the oil in for me; grapes and I don't get on in general. I'm really sad that this one didn't work out for me, because I thought it sounded wonderful. daybreaksdisdain Report post Posted June 26, 2005 First applied, oh yummy, sweet, fruity, lovely. One Hour later, hello powder, no more fruit unless I snort, not sniff, my wrist, aww man, where'd it go? Verdict: Nope, not into baby powder
joseybird Report post Posted June 29, 2005 The cherry and wine and something creamy pop out immediately. For some reason, this blend smells almost like peanut butter if that makes any sense at all. It's an odd, slightly drugged-out scent that has a similar "feel" as Perversion (although I vastly prefer Perversion).
Ajila Report post Posted July 1, 2005 Hmmm I'm totally bemused as to what I think about this blend. In the vial it was a kind of murky cherry and coconut combination, which is how it stayed when it went on my skin. After about half an hour I've got the gorgeous boozy coconut scent I get from Perversion. Another half an hour later and that fades revealling a sharp red wine note, which itself fades to reveal vetiver, which I don't mind, but I would prefer it if it wasn't the sole note present. The vetiver seems to hang around forever as well.
heartbreakangel Report post Posted July 2, 2005 In the vial: Cherry. All I can smell is cherry, to the point where it almost knocked me over when I opened the imp. Wet: Still alot of cherry, though there's a faint hint of something else under it. That something else is turning things a smidge sour. Dry: I think what I'm smelling is the poppy. I don't know why my body chemistry decided that was the note that needed to be prominent, but it did. Sadly, I had to wash it off quickly. All in all, it's just not for me. Which makes me sad, since it looked like something I'd enjoy.
magdalene Report post Posted July 8, 2005 in the bottle: ripe, red cherries, cloves, and sweet wine. wet on skin: the musk has come out, to warm up the wine a bit and accentuate the clove. Underneath all of this, I can kind of catch the poppy and vanilla notes, but they're a bit hard to get a good sense of. No honey for me, or vetiver. dry: this wafts quite well and sticks around for a good, long time. Even in hot weather. Everything is so beautifully blended together, it's rather difficult to pick out any individual notes. Such a gorgeous, and warm, scent.
metaldog32 Report post Posted July 9, 2005 Got this imp from I think the Lab..thank you very much!!! This wasn't on my list to officially *try* but who can resist trying new smellies??? Not me!!! Before I go further, just wanted to say that magdalene's review on this pretty much described Blood Kiss..but I figured I might as well try to write a review anyway..that way I can move onto another imp..hee hee Okay..let's get into it shall we??? Now..this does sound very attractive..the vanilla and honey with clove and cherries...MEOW!!! . The vetiver is not my favorite but the poppy, wine and feral musk definitely have me curious.. Initial sniff from imp: Cherries, cherries and cherries..with a trickle of sweetness which could be from the vanilla, could be from the honey..and yes..I do smell the cloves. To me..already this smells like a fall/winter scent. Applied wet on skin: Cherries..but coming up fast is the clove...and if I breathe deeply enough I do get the blood red wine...throughout this I get a sweetness with a trace of nuttiness..I don't know if this is the vanilla or honey..but they are all having the time of their lives on my skin. I gotta say..I really do like the combo..the cloves are the icing on the cake for me... Couple of minutes on skin: The notes I described have softened a bit...but definitely are not non-existent. I think I smell the vetiver..which isn't too bad..I don't think I mind it as a component with other notes..I don't know what poppy smells like so I can't say I do or don't smell it. To me this is a very sexy fragrance...if not a touch dangerous. The throw and staying power is excellent. I have worn this several times to either my running class and or dance class..and Blood Kiss lasted through an hour plus worth of aerobic effort with no signs of stopping even when I came home several hours later. Dry on skin: Cherries have exited the building and I am left with a melange of what I can tell is the husky clove toned with sweetness and what I think is the vetiver. No complaints so far. Bottom line: I like this very much..but I am still on the fence about buying a big bottle..maybe because I have so many already?? Hmm...this is definitely an imp I am going to enjoy using..and if I come across any other oils with clove in them then perhaps it will make me come to my decision faster about whether or not I want to indulge in a 5ml. Blood Kiss is warm, sexy, a touch sweet and a bit dark/dangerous...defnitely a fall/winter scent. Well done Lab!!
korshka Report post Posted July 11, 2005 (edited) I'm not quite sure how to describe this one, except I know I love it. It has a very robust smell. It is sweet with a slight tartness - a thick dark red - juicy and plump. I use this for "night" time smell when I'm headed out on the town. It seems to wake up the animal insticts and makes feel like I'm on the prowl. But that might just be me. Edited July 11, 2005 by korshka
Dark Sparkle Report post Posted July 15, 2005 This was one of those scents that I simply had to try based on the name and the components of notes . In the vial: Spicy honey and very potent! I was a bit nervous that it would turn into the same experience I had with O because of the strong honey. Wet on skin: Strong, as strong as Sin was on me! I guess I have to go ligthly with Blood Kiss. Initially, this is honey and clove and I like it lots . Drying down: The red wine comes out to play with the honey and clove, the honey mellows out, thankfully, and it dries down to a spicy combination of vanilla and clove, with the red wine toning down. Over all verdict: I think I have a new favourite here - definetly a bottle for me .
DarkMouse Report post Posted July 15, 2005 In the bottle (imp): wow.. that's some powerful stuff! A chocolate, honey, cherry smell with almost a medicinal twinge to the background (I'm guessing this is the vertiver saying hello.. ). It smells thick and makes my mouth water. On my skin: the scent is so strong it almost makes me feel dizzy and slightly intoxicated.. but I like it- alot. Right off the bat I can't pick out any single scent but as it drys I'm getting something that reminds me of those chocolate covered cherries that have the syrupy centers. I can definitely smell the wine in the background too, its thick and red - like port wine. It makes me think of black velvet and I definitely get the "vampiric sensuality" part of it - its very sexy in a dark, almost animal way. In general: This was part of the imp set I ordered as my first introduction to the Labs.. this scent is amazing. I ordered it because of the description ( cherry, vanilla, wine & "vampiric sensuality" .. I'm sold) and got more than I even expected. I love dark, thick, strong scents and this one is definitely is a winner in my book.
enderfem Report post Posted July 20, 2005 The best way I can describe this is...creamy wine and cloves. That's how it smells on me, and I really like it. I'd like a bit more of the honey, but I think it might be busy fighting off the vetiver. I've seen a few people mention it going powdery, and it does so on me after about three hours, but then it comes back and smells lovely. I don't know if its stronger than what I usually wear, or if I was wearing more of it than usual, but yesterday when I wore it was one of the first times a good friend of mine who knows about BPAL, actually noticed the scent before I mentioned it, and said "wow, you smell great!" and that was 12 hours after I put it on, too. A very long last scent, as fifteen hours after I put it on, I could still smell it faintly.
~AmusedMuse~ Report post Posted July 20, 2005 My Impression: Oh how lovely. I love the clove in this and it shines thru with a cherry vanilla bliss.
zankoku_zen Report post Posted July 21, 2005 In the Bottle: It's like a mixture of Hollywood Babylon and Centzon Totochin. On Skin: I smell cherries and vanilla, the wine and a hint of musk. So delicious. The wine and musk are definitely more predominant in this one... I'm getting a whiff of clove at the end now. This is very in your face lustful. Very feral indeed. On Drydown: There is a duskiness to this. Still slightly sweet. Still pulsatingly sensual. Verdict: This works on me. I don't love it like I love Hollywood Babylon but it's right up there with Lust. Will definitely use the imp.
porcelain_doll Report post Posted July 22, 2005 Mmmmmmm. . . Blood Kiss. . . if a scent could become a creature, this one would definitely be my late-night vampire lover! It's like being enveloped from behind in strong arms, having someone deeply inhale the scent of your hair, gingerly lick your earlobes, and then not-so-gently graze your cartoid and jugular with the tips of their teeth. At first sniff in the imp, all I got was cherry, cherry, and more cherry. On me--warms up to a clove-y, boozy, vanilla swirl of a scent that makes me long for someone I don't even know, but am probably dying to meet. BIG ol' bottle of Blood Kiss! Eagerly awaiting autumn and a major cool-down, because if it smells this good in mid-July heat (90+ degrees) then I can only imagine what it will be like once the weather becomes normal again! Bravo, Elizabeth, bravo!
Brianne Report post Posted July 29, 2005 In the bottle: Cherry and what I think must be vetiver, it's faintly in the background and a strange note I can't identify. On me: I am afraid of cherry. I will admit it. Cherry usually smells awful on me, and I don't really like the smell of it in general anyways. But this scent really works well on me. It's gorgeous. It's not so cherry that I smell fruity, it's just a nice compliment to the vanilla and honey (which is faint btw) and what I *think* is vetiver. It smells like patchouli to me, so I don't really know. I'm not a fan of patchouli, but this is nice. The musk was much stronger on me when this was wet, but now it's more in the background. This is a smooth, sexy, vampy scent. I could see myself wearing this for a night out, a night in (if you get my drift), or any time I want to feel vampy. THis would work really well just about any time I think. It's kind of a mood lifter in my opinion, I think you could be feeling really blah and this would make you feel a lot better Final note: The vanilla and honey remain rather light on me, and the cherry is a nice compliment. This is earthy, spicey, sensual. Love it!
jewelbug Report post Posted August 9, 2005 (edited) Bottle: Dripping sweet, almost like the sweetness of decay--I don't know how else to explain it, probably the fermented wine note. Under the decaying sweetness there is opium? note lurking in the background. Or something else reminiscent of a hippie incense shop. On the skin, Wet: I just walked into that hippie shop, and it's overflowing with incense--I assume those are the musky poppy/vetiver notes. Heady, to say the least. On skin, dry: Early: VERY incense-y, sometimes almost powdery. Despite the incense, it manages not to overpowering my senses (i usually get incense headaches), and is dark, sultry, musky incense. Late (3+ hrs): This scent matures and rounds out a bit. It's still incense, but acquires more sweetness, and a hint of creamy vanilla. There's even a smidge of spiciness poking through (clove?). Certain wafts remind me of musk and unlit flavored cigars. This is very intoxicating, warm and earthy. It sticks around for about 6 hours, which is a great deal longer than the other two BPAL's I've tried thus far. Overall: I was disappointed that I didn't experience the cherry or wine notes, and I wish the clove and vanilla had been a bit more assertive, and come earlier to the soiree. I think I must have incense-loving skin chemistry. I would like to smell this on someone who gets all those sweet notes. Despite the fact that it wasn't what I expected, and that the beginning came on a bit strong, I really did like what it evolved into. The final blend was complex, musky, and sultry and smelled kinda like sex on me. More sex than I'd normally wear. I think I will keep this around for "evening wear", and I will try it on the hubby, too. This one is imp-worthy, but I won't need a large bottle of it (unless it turns hubby into an animal). I was told that "Blood Kiss= smex" (a word I had to look up in the urban dictionary--I'm a dork). So, I will also give it a review for smex factor: I got asked to lunch by a dirty old man (the stares only at your boobs when you talk), and I was invited by a coworker to have mutual feels of each others padded bras (purely platonic, of course). It appears that my smexy musk works on both sexes. Or maybe it was just my boobs. Edited: I had to test this on him: Wet: powdery, incensey, with a sharp edge Drying: incense and dark cherry. Sweet notes, but musky and a bit powdery. ~1 hour: sweeter, incensy, less powdery, but still a bit. A touch of dark cherry? Its a touch feminine on him, and fades in 1-2 hours. Oh well, was worth a shot. Edited August 12, 2005 by jewelbug
BlueStar Report post Posted August 10, 2005 Wet in The Bottle: I wonder if the "Ben and Jerry" people will be upset Beth is using 'Cherry Garcia' in her blends Wet on My Skin: Mmm Red Wine, Vanilla, Cherry and Vetiver. It's nike a party in my nose and everyone's invited. Drydown Hmmm pleasant surprise this dries down to a very sensual and "dirty" smell. I get the musk finally but it is very faint. The overriding scent is distinctly -- Vanilla/Cherry/Wine, Vetiver and Clove. The very first time I wore this it made me want to set out for some record breaking and serious marathon sex. The scent makes me almost breathlessly hungry to... well I can't say it better than... "it makes me wanna f**!" Verdict A must have in your sensual arsenal. Definite deal closer potential. I get the most puzzled stares on the "L" train when people try to 'find' where the scent is coming from and I get the sense their intentions aren't the purest when they find it. Thankfully no one has figured it out yet. "I think that fat ugly troll by the doors is wearing it we must all now rape him"
theshapeshifter Report post Posted August 12, 2005 In the imp: I don't know whether I'm more tempted to lick it, or have sex with it! Initial application: For a brief moment, I was afraid it was all going to go horribly wrong, because I got a strong whiff of what I can only describe as 'rotting baby powder'. Thankfully, though, that literally only lasted about 15 seconds. Then it blossomed into this heady clove/vetiver/incense combination. Drydown: It's been on for two hours now, and I simply can NOT stop sniffing myself. It's got great throw, for one thing. And it's wonderfully complex... I keep getting different elements of it each time. The cherry, vanilla, and honey are dancing around each other, and then there's the clove (a THROB of clove is exactly the right description! It's almost pornographic!) and vetiver and musk just dragging the sweetness into total debauchery. I'm not getting a huge amount of the wine, but there is just a hint of tartness. The poppy I'm not sure of, since I haven't smelled many prominent 'poppy' scents. It has the most amazing effect. I'm in jeans and a plain t-shirt and glasses, hair all mushed down from the rain, and just from this scent alone I feel like a total vamp. If combined with an actual sexy outfit, this scent might have to carry a warning label!
reina Report post Posted August 14, 2005 this is scary. Honest. This scent creeps me out. I'm not sure what I smell, almost a floral, almost a fruit, but not quite because it seems to have fangs. extremely strong and long lasting, and it's too foreign to my nose - like the red velvet inside of a casket. I don't think that vampires are a sexy thing.
wtchmel Report post Posted August 18, 2005 What to say, this so far is the worst for me..... From the vial its punjent, almost acrid, yet I thought it would be fine, the dry down made this one just something I couldn't do. It smelled like one of my grandmothers perfumes which I hated. It smelled a little like cinnabar, and or Tempo unfortunatly i wore it to singing and everyone was not liking it, and the person i gave a ride home to asked if he could smoke in order to 'make it go away',lol. It just didn't mesh with my body at all...........
Lilithlefay Report post Posted August 19, 2005 (edited) In the bottle I smell vanilla, wine and cherries, mmm yummy Wet: The honey appears, but so does the vanilla and cherry. This smells wonderful. Drydown: I can smell the musk in this and the vetiver. I adore this blend. It lasted throughout the day on me, and smelled wonderful. A very creamy, honey, musky, cherry wine scent. The scent that emerges after an hour is seductive i couldn't stop sniffing my arm. I can definately smell the honey in this and it is so good with the musk. The cherry scent faded within an hour and wasn't very candy smelling. Edited to say I tried this again and the clove comes out much more strongly at first but calmed down after a few minutes. It gives it a nice spicy feel along with the creaminess. Edited August 19, 2005 by Lilithlefay
