In the Bottle:

Salty chocolate and butterscotch

Wet on Skin:

Within seconds, the saltiness fades away completely. Now it's just milk chocolate and butterscotch

Dry:

Milk chocolate, butterscotch, and a slight hint of booze. After 15 minutes or so, this scent becomes richer and sweeter, with the butterscotch becoming more of a butterscotch cream and the milk chocolate becoming more of a fudge. After about one hour, the butterscotch cream fades some and the scent becomes mostly fudge

This is yummy :yum:, but I'm not yet sure whether it's amazing enough to keep

ETA: A big huge  and a giant thank you to my amazingly wonderful pick up angel!!!!

Yeah...so Surreality hit it right on the head. This is milk chocolate and butterscotch. Not overwhelming...but definite butterscotch...kind of like the butterscotch you eat on icecream maybe...not the candy. I do want to eat my hand...I just don't know if I want to smell like food. :P

I skin tested this one at Will Call and I wrote 'burnt candy' as what I was smelling. Makes sense if some are smelling butterscotch because that note screams 'burnt' to me when I wear it.

Thanks to a very generous forumite for a sniffie of this. You know who you are and I love you! :wub2:

Definitely milk chocolate and butterscotch, slightly salty - and very apropos for a Box of Chocolate scent.

It's a little too foodie for me, but it smells delicious!

Thank you to the lovely Dark Alice for sending me a tester of this!

When first applied, I got milky chocolate and butterscotch/buttercream, as others have mentioned. Then about 3 minutes in, I got banana. What, banana?!? Yep, banana - the fake/candy/syrup kind of banana. So for a couple of minutes, it was all chocolate and banana then suddenly.. the banana vanished. Then it was back to chocolate (which has lost its initial milky flavour and become more deep) and butterscotch, but the butterscotch has done its usual thing and turned into a burnt sugar smell which isn't as bad as some other butterscotch/brown sugar experiences I've had, but it definitely leans towards the 'burnt' side.

Despite my lack of love for butterscotch, this is actually quite yummy. For people whose skin tolerates brown sugar related notes better than mine, I think this would be delicious.

Wow. I don't really get what others have reported. First, it's repellent in the bottle. I don't know what to compare it to, but I don't like it. On my skin, it blossoms into cherry candy--not cough syrup cherry, but more like the rainbow-colored, cherry flavored candy canes. The toothpick I used to apply it smells sort of butterscotchy, though. After a few minutes, the cherry has gone and I guess it does have more of a toffee smell, but it's very faint. It intensifies over the next few minutes, and then I get what the other reviewers were saying. It's now a chocolate-covered toffee sort of haze. This is really lovely--similar to MVJBA Spring Training, IMO, but quieter, smoother, and creamier. Now I want a Heath Bar. ;)

Box 116, upon first sniff was definitely chocolate. After initial application I could smell cherries right away like in the previous review but on drydown, I don't smell chocolate at all but maybe the butterscotch everyone has mentioned or possibly caramel. I like it.

In bottle: sweet and syrupy candy, almost fruity at first whiff. It's butterscotch with a little fruitiness in it.

Wet on skin: mostly the same as the bottle smell, but smoother and not as in-your-face; the fruitiness I'm getting is a kind of berry, but somewhat vague and fleeting to be really sure.

Dry: hmm, something is a bit off here, not quite right. It started off really well--sweet yummy butterscotch with a bit of a berry fruitiness to it, which I like a lot. But as it stays longer on my skin it seems to be becoming a bit more bitter. And then much later, well, I suppose I should have expected it--something rather plasticky has come out. The vague fruit note is overpowered by it.

Verdict: this was very promising, but again with that plastic note. It's difficult to pin down what it is, when I can still smell most of the notes when the plastic has come out, so I can't tell which note has turned into it! Sigh.

I think that Box 116 has pineapple in it. In the bottle and for the first half hour on my skin, it has something like a pineapple note that reminds me of Drink Me and Upa Upa (a little sour and off-putting in the bottle, but instantly turns to a sweet pineapple once it's on).

I get pineapple and a warm, sugary, caramelized note. It smells like grilled pineapple drizzled in caramel, or pineapple upside down cake <3. Very warm and cozy. As it dries down, it's all caramel/butterscotch sweetness and not much else. I don't smell any chocolate that others have mentioned.

I'm really glad that I decided to order a bottle of this, because it's a great foodie-sweet scent.

I too got pineapple, like a sharp almost-fermented pineapple note. No chocolate or caramel or butterscotch. I used to get pineapple sundaes at Dairy Queen and this kind of reminds me of the pineapple sauce, which I'm pretty sure wasn't real pineapple ;)

Aha, I figured out what commercial perfume this smells like after I sprayed some Demeter Kahala Pina Colada on me this morning. Yep. They smell the same!

Chocolate, butterscotch and Pineapple. Definitey getting the pineapple on this. I had been death matching beaver moon 05 & versary when i picked up this box 116 and figured I would put it on and test it too. Pineapple smack in the face, along with chocolate with some salty butterscotch in the background.

Hazelnut and pineapple. At first I thought it was milk chocolate and mango, but that scent description by someone who doesn't 'do' BPAL and then another sniff from me and I knew this was what it was. The pineapple is actually very juicy on me, but it burns off faster than the hazelnut, which sticks around all day.

I smelled delicious. All day. Like most fruities, I want to slather this all over myself and smell like this all the time. The hazelnut-chocolate bonus at the end doesn't hurt, because it turns out very comforting and warm to me. Somehow, those two notes work together very well, and it ends up something like a slice of fresh pineapple coated in Nutella. Very sweet and dessert-like.

Definitely in the 'keep' pile for now and I feel very fortunate to have tried it!

So funny how we all get something similar, yet different! So, for me...just got my bottle today from Etsy, and at first application, there was some sort of sweetness...a candy-like scent that I JUST can't place!! BUT after drydown, to me, it's Dark Chocolate & Pepper Smoked Caramel! I have a bottle of DCPSC and side by side, they are almost the same...there is a slightly more hint of salty in Box 116, but pretty close to being the same! Either way, both YUMMY!!! :yum:

OK so I received a decant of Box 116 a couple years ago and LOVED it. Smelled like chocolate, sugar, caramel, cherries and syrupy pineapple. However, when I searched for reviews, everything was coming up salted caramel and burnt sugar. I was reaaalllyy confused.

Then finally this week I said fuck it and arranged a swap for a bottle of Box 116 thinking I'd like it regardless. ;) Upon testing the bottle, I got the same notes! My skin turns this fruity sugary. I'd have to say there's some fruit note that's not pineapple. Pineapple disappears on me after a couple minutes. Must be syrupy marachino cherries. There's something of the burnt sugar/rum/caramel family in here too. Honestly, this is to die for.

I just bought 2 bottles off bpal's etsy site because I'm seriously not fighting over 1 bottle with my choco obsessed hubby.

This is a combination of Hard Cider Cake and Grog for me. I can't find any chocolate in this but I do get a hint of banana and/or pineapple, depending on my mood.
