Boadicea v9

Recommended Posts

Prototype, unreleased, no scent description.

The first thing that surprised me with this prototype is the fact that it is very different from the released version. I was at least expecting leather, but nope! I'm getting black musk (that nice creamy, slightly lemony musk from Haunted) mixed with dark florals. I'm not a floral fan in the least, but they are subtle. The blend smells exactly like what I would imagine a powerful woman wearing. Very nicely blended and now I don't know if I prefer this one or the released one better. They are both very good in their own way.

I haven't tried the released version of Boadicea so I can't compare them.

On my skin wet: Boadicea v9 starts out with black musk, lemony black musk. There is something behind that, possibly some amber? It reminds me of L'Estate but with a hint of wood. Very nice.

On my skin dry: It's warming up. It now smells like a cross between Haunted and L'Estate. It's also slightly reminiscent of Inez. A spicy ambery floral with added black musk. This is perfect for warm weather.

I like it a lot. Boadicea v9 doesn't have a lot of throw on my skin though.

Lemony black musk, amber, hint of dry wood. It's a very strong female scent - and a cross between Haunted and L'Estate. It has that golden resiny amber from L'Estate, and while there isn't actually leather, the black musk does seems slightly 'leathery' to me. In a sense, it reminds me to Heroine (although I find Heroine sweeter).

She's like Heroine's bigger, badder sister. You know, the kind that Heroine calls upon for back up.

wet this smelled like... nothing at all. Seriously, I huffed my wrist and- nothing.

Then it dried down and this gorgeous gentle cloud of warm resinous golden sandalwoodsy amber goodness billowed up from my arm. I didn't get any lemon, and I would have called it golden musk rather than black, but it does give an impression of having a touch of subtle, understated leather-ishness to it.

Then the floral starts taking over- this lasted all day, and the floral note that started as nonexistent gradually grew over the hours. There are very few florals I can wear, but this is one. I'm almost certain that this flower is vanilla orchid, because as it matured through the day I started getting Clockwork Couture: Female scent memories- which is almost assuredly a combining of amber and orchid.

She's lovely, and strong, and unequivocally beautiful.

Not sure exactly why, but I felt compelled to pick this up from the Lab's Etsy.

Wet: Citrus. Ah man, really? I can't do citrus most of the time. This is ok so far, but not wowing me at all.

Dry: Lemony musk! It's not actual citrus at all. That explains why it never went powdery. It's black musk doing this lemony thing. I have never actually experienced it to do that on my skin before, so that's kind of cool. I totally get what people are talking about now. There's some pretty florals in there too. I am not 100% sure how I feel about this! It's really light. Pretty. Feminine. Just not sure it's ME, you know? I may need to test it again. There's an interesting sugary vanilla note buried in there that I am really liking. Wishing that would amp up more! This does grow on me every time I sniff my wrist though....ugh, undecided!!
