Cheri Report post Posted September 25, 2010 PLASTIC JACK O’LANTERN SOAPA plastic Jack o’Lantern, scattered with bits of rock candy, honey taffy, butterscotch, marshmallow buttons, gumdrops, jellybeans, and bubblegum. I took a bath with this last night and really enjoyed it. It's a nice quality soap and didn't make me dry. As for the smell, it smells a lot like Lush's Rock Star; kind of bright and fruity. I like it very much. I expected it to smell plasticky because of the Jack o'Lantern, but it doesn't. I guess it's the jellybeans and gumdrops that I notice the most. gingiemay Report post Posted September 27, 2010 No plastic, just candied fruits and marshmallow candies. Delicious!
Venneh Report post Posted October 2, 2010 (edited) I'm getting mostly honey taffy and marshmallow out of this, which unfortunately does take a plasticy edge on my skin. It's a good soap, it's just not one I think I'm going to need a backup of. A bit of the frutier edge comes out in the drydown, but it's not quite enough to save it. violetblue Report post Posted October 3, 2010 What a complex soap. I smell different things at different times - I do love the sweetness of this, it is a fruity sweetness that turns a bit magically plastic but not in a horrid way. The black suds are crazy looking and pefect for Halloween - it was wrapped so prettily, I felt bad tearing into it. I love how the sweet scent lingers on the skin as well. Very nice! astrid Report post Posted October 3, 2010 (edited) This smells utterly fabulous and reminds me lots of Candy Phoenix, but for a $9 bar of soap I need something more moisturizing which I get with soaps from other small boutique soap makers. This soap strips my skin of oil and doesn't leave anything to offer in kind, which I find surprising since I know Villainess makes faaaab goods and I'm a fan of her scrubs & cream! Belladonnastrap Report post Posted October 4, 2010 Candy overload. It reminds me a lot of LUSH's Rock Star soap except I don't get the headache after. The soap lathers pretty well and the scent doesn't linger long on my skin. If you're a fan of super sticky sweet stuff this is the soap for you
opticnerd Report post Posted October 15, 2010 I LOVE this soap! Smells just like black cherry cream soda dry and gummi bears when wet! Its a fun and silly, sweet soap that works for any time of year. I wish it would be available year round!
Blood onmy hands Report post Posted October 15, 2010 I agree with the reviews comparing this to LUSH's Rock Star soap. It has a similar creamy, pink, fruity-vanilla candy feel to it, like raspberries and vanilla cream with hints of cotton candy and bubblegum. I actually wish that I could get a perfume oil version of this scent. The smell is fantastic and cheery and the bar itself is beautiful. I find the bar soaps to be really drying, though, so I can only use this sparingly as a hand soap. It has a great lather and smells great while I'm using it. The smell doesn't last on me at all, though, unfortunately.
Suu4LC Report post Posted November 5, 2010 (edited) One word: YUM! Ok, more words. This is a fun, sugary sweet candy explosion! I can see how some would compare it to Lush's Rock Star soap, but maybe at like 1/2-3/4 strength. I can't really pick out specific notes in this-I would just call it yummy candy goodness. A wonderful soap that is SO up my alley! One note, it has a weird black/brownish lather...not a huge deal, it's just a little gross because it looks kind of like dirt when you rub it on your skin. It washes off easily though. Again, not a big deal, just made me do a double take. Couple quick extra notes: The Good: The first few days I had this in my bathroom, it scented it up really nice! My whole bathroom smelled like candy! The Bad: This melted REALLY fast. The bar did not last long, which is sort of a bummer because these soaps aren't cheap! Invidiana Report post Posted November 9, 2010 (edited) This reminds me of shoving my face in my plastic pumpkin bucket and huffing deeply after trick-or-treating. It's like a melange of every Halloween candy imaginable (except those ghastly Charleston Chews--yeccch), sweet but not cloying, and now I can huff it without sticking my head in a pumpkin. vikitty Report post Posted December 14, 2010 Wasn't impressed with this, didn't detect much of a scent to it at all. Disappointed!
Gin Report post Posted March 25, 2011 I love this soap--but I'm a sucker for black soap. It has a soft candy smell--I can't pick out any type of candy in particular.
zankoku_zen Report post Posted January 16, 2018 This one is an old Villainess bar of soap, so the scent isn't as strong. It's a soft candy smell - not a particular candy, but I do get a bit of sugary sourness to it. It lathers well and does well as a soap, but the smells isn't necessarily distinctive. Definitely USE or LOSE if you ask me. I love super aged Villainess soap bars because as a soap they are awesome. Scent-wise though, it definitely fades over time.
