Paduan Killer Swarm

Recommended Posts

Tonka, black licorice, amber, golden sandalwood, ginger cream, bitter clove, stinging nettle, cinnamon bark, and coconut shell.

Bottle: I totally forgot there was supposed to be black licorice in this. It is all thick, golden honey and beeswax with a touch of warm coconut husk. It smells like summer in a bottle.

Wet: Definitely getting the husk/bark aspect of this. The cinnamon is a bit stronger but it smells like the dried bark rather than straight up cinnamon oil. Very warm and sweet and a little like skin but better. It's a very dry sort of scent.

Dry: A beautiful, sun-warmed blend of vanilla, coconut, spices and creamy ginger (the note I can cross reference from Prosperity of a Country). This scent blends together beautifully and I don't really smell the distinct notes separately from each other. It's very warm and sweet but has a dry/dusty quality that makes it feel like a distinctly summery scent.

Throw: Strong.

Overall: When I smell Paduan Killer Swarm, it smells like the hottest days of summer to me. The days when it is blindingly hot, there's no breeze and the humidity index is at zero. It is a beautifully blended scent and it is highly evocative. I love wearing it in the summer because it compliments the heat wonderfully and I wear it in winter to assure myself that summer will, one day, come again. Edited by paperrose

how appropriate that i'm testing this today. i just finished freaking out about my discovery that the entire wild bee population of the las vegas valley (where i'm moving in a few weeks) can be consider africanized (you know, killer bees). YIKES.

anyway, here goes nothing!

ok, killer bees, if you smell like this and promise to leave me alone, you can make a nest in my backyard. this is delicious. there's no sassafras or sarsaparilla in here, but the licorice and ginger cream notes are reminding me of the root beer with licorice that i drank at the renaissance faire last weekend. this is warm and spicy with a smooth, creamy center. YUM!

This smells like a library to me. All beeswax and spice in the bottle.

On the skin it settles into a beeswax candle with a slight... almost fruity and creamy quality.

I wear this on cold days when I am studying at the library.

Wonderful spicy goodness!

Paduan Killer Swarm is just a great creamy, sweet melange with kicks of clove and ginger. I don't get any strong licorice out of this, thank goodness. :P There is some, though, and it gives it just a bit of a root beer quality. Huzzah!

If Smiling Spider was too strong for you, this creamy clove blend might be the answer. This is wonderful!

This blend actually has a lot of notes I shy away from typically, along with notes I'm drawn to. So, I managed to come across and imp and color me surprised. It's actually very nice. Warm, sweet, fuzzy, a little yellow, and cozy. I'm getting a lot of the tonka, amber, sandalwood, a bit of clove and maybe a hint of the cinnamon, but I'm sure the rest is in there. I may have to hunt another imp or two down to keep around. ;)

ITB: Interesting. I get tonka and strong coconut as the dominant notes in the bottle. I actually like it as it is here.

Wet: Coconut is yelling for my attention on my skin and I only get a glimmer for the golden sandalwood and the faintest impression of licorice when I concentrate.

Dry: As it dries, the sandalwood becomes more assertive, the clove begins to make itself known, and a dab of the ginger cream plays gently underneath. After several hours, I just get warm coconut with a dash of ginger cream, which I enjoy.

In the bottle: light black licorice

Wet: black licorice with some powdery amber. Also the clove and ginger are starting come out too.

Drydown: This is still mostly black licorice on the drydown and ginger. It's a little stingy like a bee but the sting is all black licorice.

The throw was good and it lasted about 3 hours.

Wet: Wow, this is a really creamy, musky sort of coconut. Not really sure where that muskiness comes from, but I like it! Hints of spice. A bit of sharpness, maybe from the stinging nettle? It's a herbal sort of sharpness, sort of peppery, in a really lovely way. Wow, it really does smell just like summer. I can almost year the cicadas. I am thoroughly enjoying this.

Dry: This scent is like happiness on my arm. The notes are so incredibly well blended, I honestly can't pick any out other than the coconut, and a general warm muskiness with hints of spice that I am JUST LOVING. So happy to have this, it will be a summer favourite.

Paduan Killer Swarm is orgasm-inducing when wet. So, so good. I couldn't remember most of the notes when I put it on; I definitely got the coconut and licorice, which is subtle but definitely there. It's also golden, like honey and amber and tonka. I was surprised by how many spices are listed in the components because I couldn't pick them out at all. This is just a cloud of sweet gorgeousness.

No more reviewing -- I just need to lie back and smell my wrist. I only have a tiny amount of this, which breaks my heart.
