Humanitas Bath Oil

HUMANITAS
No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. - Aesop

Carnation, black cherry, wild strawberry, helichrysum, and frankincense.

Shea oil, olive oil, mineral oil, apricot kernel oil, fractionated coconut oil, rosehip seed, evening primrose oil, vitamin E, Helichrysum italicum, isopropyl myristate, glycereth-7-cocoate (derived from coconut), oleth 3, and Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab perfume blends.

From the bottle, Humanitas is a very strong, fruity fragrance - so much dark, sweet, overpoweringly sweet cherry, and a hint of strawberry. Applied directly to the skin it is a powerful, super-strong cherry. Artificial smelling... at first!

In the water (and also on the skin longer) - it appears to transition away from cherry as that note lightens, and the carnation and frankincense peek through. The oil continues to transition towards a much more 'Ysabel' like bath oil fragrance, sweet, bright resinous kissed carnation. The strawberry lends a small amount of cold juiciness and pulpiness to the blend and it smells quite nice.

Overall, soft, gentle, definitely 'a kind act.'

I like it.

In the bottle: An oddly boozy fruit scent, like brandied cherries. But there's also some deeply green note, so much so that it almost evokes earth, although there's nothing dirt-like about the note. Maybe it's a very green manifestation of frankincense?

Wet on skin: I use these as moisturizers in the shower. When it hit my skin, first I got sweet juicy fruit for an instant, almost like lotus or JuicyFruit gum. Then the carnation came on strong and spicy, followed by a cherry note.

Dry on skin: I've got a very incense-y impression, kind of like the carnation note from Ysabel bath oil, backed up with a touch of cherry and the vestige of that early, green note. The scent feels like it's strobing off my skin, warming rather than cooling. But it feels like it belongs on my skin, contented, at home more than many of the resinous bath oils have been. It also seems more moisturizing than many of them.

This I put in the bath, and then used as a moisturizer.

Wet, it is a fruity, nut kind of blend. After, I can tell it is cherry, not a fave note. Funny I love the labs almond note, but I KNOW this is cherry. Very fresh, but something I really don't enjoy. The fruit gradually fades, and I'm getting a nutty sweet blend. Kind of like a pastry with nuts. :ack: And is that caramel, double :ack: . I guess the frankincense is translating to nuts and not sure where I'm getting caramel. I love frankincense and carnation, but I do not get any 'true', scent of either. Overall, not for me.

Humanitas

In vial: smells like a cross between strawberry chewing gum and the cherry jam corner of a Muller Fruit Corner!

On skin: this smells strongly of Hollywood’s strawberry flavoured gum, which is a French brand of gum I used to love as a kid, and every time I went to France I’d make sure I got some. I know, that sounds odd, but that’s exactly what this smells like, and what it reminds me of, and I love that, actually! However, then the cherry note comes out, it smells just like the cherry ‘corner’ on a Muller yogurt (and I like that too!) and that pushes the Hollywood gum scent away somewhat. And then I smell the frankincense and carnation. And this blend of carnation and frankincense reminds me of my beloved Ysabel bath oil-the carnation variety! And I’ve been looking all over for more of the carnationy batch of Ysabel, but this smells like it with added fruit notes. In fact, it seems like the fruits in here fade away, and I’m left with a gorgeous mix of spicy carnation and warm, resinous frankincense. And then I realise this also seems to have the same gorgeous sweet black cherry that’s in Gothabilly as well. Once my Ysabel runs out, I know what to get, this is a really good GC substitute and I like the candied aspect of the fruit notes, they don’t turn to plastic on me or turn sharp or medicinal. A keeper!

Humanitas Bath Oil - This is delicious! It's in the same family (in my opinion) as Hollywood Babylon -- very similar, but without the heavy red musk. This scent is predominantly heavy, dark cherries, a bit of strawberry, a splash of gritty frankincense and spicy carnation, and then waaaay underneath is something sweet and foody (in a non-fruity way) that I'm guessing must be the helichrysum, which I've never smelled before, but a Google search said it can smell like a cross between burnt sugar and ham. I don't think this scent is hammy at all, but I do smell something in here reminiscent of burnt sugar, but thankfully it's not, since burnt sugar is a bad, bad note on me. Anyway, I kind of digress... overall, this is a delicious, fruity scent. The black cherry reminds me a lot of Gothabilly -- this bath oil would layer well -- again, in my opinion -- with both Hollywood Babylon and Gothabilly. It's really delightful!

Finally got around to trying my decant of this. I usually either apply small amounts of the bath oils to my wrists like a perfume oil or I rub them on to my legs in the shower. I find them a little too oily/greasy for the bath tub or rubbed directly on to my skin (turns my hair into a mess and breaks out the skin on my face, chest, and arms), but love them for an in-shower moisturizer on my legs.

Anyhoo, I find this a little too sweet and fruity to use as a perfume. It's really cloying when I put it directly on to my skin. I used most of my decant up in the shower and I like the subtle scent that it leaves on my legs after I rinse off (light, sweet cherry-strawberry and a bit of a darker, slightly spicy feel from the carnation and frankincense). My husband really liked the scent that it left on me after a shower. I might need more of this one.

What a bizarre olfactory translation. Out of the bottle, it actually smelled like a vegetable. Kind of like a tomato, and it made me feel a bit sick. Luckily, it blossoms in the shower. The notes start to separate from each other and I can pick them out. First, the spiciness of the carnation starts to unfold, and is soon after accompanied by the black cherry. The carnation makes itself fully known after the oil sits on my skin for about a minute. After the shower, my room smelled more like cherries and strawberries. After a couple hours, the carnation is going strong on my skin, but the fruitiness is gone. At this point, there is also a hint of frankincense in the background. I'm really liking the end result.

Predominantly a dark cherry scent with a strong undertone of frankincense- almost to the point of being satan's cherries. The intense cherry scent burns off quickly and leaves a dark mildly spicy fruitiness. I use my bath oils as an after-shower moisturizer, and this one is good as a scent on it's own. I've also tried it layered under Ghoulish, which works well. I also agree with Eden's Sixth Day that Hollywood Babylon is another good choice for layering.

I'm glad I finally got around to ordering a bottle and have been wearing Humanitas a lot this summer.

Just cracked open a bottle of this for an indulgent afternoon soak in the bath. I can still smell the cherry and carnation on my skin and as always when using a BPTP bath oil, I am super soft all over and feeling divine. This is one of my favourites already and I am so glad it's part of the general catalogue - very easy to stock up on! ^__^

Black cherry, carnations and hint of strawberry. Much fruitier at the beginning, and then the carnation note blooms really floral and spicy.

If you're looking for a carnation bath oil, this one is it.

I'm so grateful to a recent group order for the tried and true TP BOs that I never got around to testing! I finally got my hands on Humanitas, and it is lovely. So far I've used it in the bath, applied directly to my skin before soaking not drizzled into the bathwater.

Like some earlier posters, I find the fruit really noticable at first, but what hangs around is the carnation. It hangs close to the skin (or at least it did the way I applied it) so it is quite a subtle warm bloom right above the surface of the skin. After drydown it really reminded me of Alice, and I've found that they layer beautifully!
