GypsyRoseRed Report post Posted July 13, 2009 I'm not a huge fan of florals as a general rule, but The Flower Girl is darkly lovely, and something I could see myself wearing to an event or if I wanted to be perceived as sophisticated. There are armfuls of blooms, all vibrant and dominant (I could have sworn I smelled irises and roses in there) and dark, lush greenery.. and in the background, something insidious that stops it from being merely 'pretty' and gives it a 'perfume' blackened edge. This is not your typical floral! It's very grownup and distinctive with plenty of throw that lasts for hours.
bheansidhe Report post Posted July 13, 2009 Sniffed from the bottle, Myth and I both got green flower stems of the more aggressively pungent type, like marigold or mum - that good, earthy green pungency, maybe sprays of fern. It smelled vividly of a fresh florist's bouquet, the expensive kind. Other than that.... floral. I'm not a floral person. It was floral. I'm sure I'll be embarrassed later when people post intricate and accurate descriptions later, but for right now I got.... floral.
hkhm Report post Posted July 13, 2009 bottle: a jumble of florals, this smells very similar to a chaos theory blend i got except no jasmine. wet: there's a sharp greenery/grass scent above the florals that is quite strong initially but fades after a while. this has the feel of lovely blooms that have been drenched by rain. the flowers are not cloying, they are rich but not distinct enough to my nose to name. i'm not getting rose, though, as this has not turned soapy at all. dry: i'm not a big floral person, but when i get as much greenery as flowers i am very interested. the flowers here smell poisonous and wet and this scent lasts and lasts and lasts. thekittenkat Report post Posted July 17, 2009 This was one of the three CD prototypes that we got to test at SEWC. I didn't get any dark florals or other dark notes from this, just lots of light florals. Couldn't pick out any particular one, but I did like it. In the same family as The Unicorn and other multi-florals. I want to try this again, because it doesn't really seem to belong in the CD from what I smelt in the bottle and then on my skin. stormcloude Report post Posted July 19, 2009 I smelled the bottle of this at the Convergence event and it reminded me of a field of wildflowers in the spring-- young and fresh and sunny, with a little dew drying off. I didn't get any of the heavier florals that I ususally don't care for. I'd consider getting a bottle of this and I'm not a "floral" person.
edenssixthday Report post Posted July 20, 2009 The Flower Girl -- This is a really pretty bouquet of light, fresh flowers. It's more the scent of flower petals than the actual full-blooming flower. I don't know what flowers it is -- it didn't have the high-pitchedness of lilies, or the depth of rose, or the pungency of jasmine. It's more like a mixed bouquet of wildflower petals. It's very pretty and romantic in a pure and innocent kind of way.
anomie Report post Posted July 25, 2009 In the bottle: Fresh wet flowers, like walking through a garden after a rainstorm. Wet: I'm getting much more of the greenery and leaves than the flowers themselves. It's very lush. Drydown: This is the perfect summer garden scent. Beautiful and heady and sweet. However, my little sister thinks it smells like "old lady," so you may want to keep that in mind.
persianmouse Report post Posted November 29, 2009 HAI DO YOU LIKE FLOWERS I LIKE FLOWERS LOOK HERE ARE SOME FLOWERS THAT I LIKE LOOK AT THESE FLOWERS AND THEN SMELL THESE FLOWERS AND HAI I AM GIRL AND I AM HOLDING FLOWERS DO YOU LIKE FLOWERS? This smells like flowers. But its not a typical floral smell. It’s not a headachey floral or a grandma floral, its like…the kind of perfume a little girl would pick out and love. It’s a clean (but not soapy or lineny) floral. And sweet. But not sweet like candy or honey. If you think of a little girl in an old-fashioned dress and flowers, this is probably what that smells like. I’m not so good at picking out particular flower species…maybe freesia or wisteria or gardenia…freesteriardenia?
Eutectic Report post Posted December 29, 2009 (edited) I knew that there would be flowers and was slightly fearful of trying this one as heavy floral scents and I don't usually mingle well but this is more than what you would think when someone says "floral". Yes, it is flowers, but this has an edge to it that makes me think that this particular flower girls has some deadly dark flowers nestled in her bouquets. Something a bit dark lingers at the edge of all these happy flowers and makes me think of deep dark purple flowers, like pitcher plants or Venus flytraps. I actually really like this far more than I could have imagined!! ETA: OMG this is getting to me...can't keep my nose from my arm. As it ages on the skin it is getting better and better, something almost fruity is completing the floral notes, YUMMEH!!! milo Report post Posted January 16, 2010 Many thanks to JenJen for frimping me this sniffie! Wet, this is a mish mash of flowers, of an unidentifiable kind. As it dries, jasmine dominates as it normally does, then goes powdery, like it normally does. Very glad to have tried this, but jasmine loves me, but I don't love it. myth Report post Posted May 5, 2010 Wet: very, very soap on me. More soap than floral. Just perfumey soap. Ooh, as it begins to dry I can smell the flowers… and cut stems! They are trying to crawl out from under the soap. As it dries more the soap strengthens and the whole thing gets sharper. I didn’t think it was possible for this to have gotten worse, but it did. I apparently kicked some flower's puppy in a past life.
ljaylh Report post Posted July 6, 2010 (edited) So here's me, the anti-flower girl, reviewing this one When I first dabbed it on and leaned in for a smell, I was expecting florals of course. And yep - this is all about the florals! But I was actually pleasantly surprised, it wasn't flowery flowers - I got a good hit of greenery and something slightly dark and mysterious in there.. I'm thinking ooh - maybe this is an OK type of floral. But no.. I lean in later for another sniff once it's dried down, and there they are - the flowery flowers. This is just like walking into a florist - that strong fragrance of heady florals from all different kinds of flowers in bunches. I'm not sure I can identify exactly *which* flowers, but my money's going on things like freesia, honeysuckle, jonquils and orchids - those 'spring' kinds of flowers. Maybe some violet or something blue/purple too, and possibly lilies. There's also something slightly wood-ish in here, but not like a tree kind of wood - more like the smell of cane or wicker.. which would make sense, maybe this flower girl carries her blooms in a little wicker basket. So for all you floral lovers out there - this one's going to be everything you've ever wanted, it really is very pretty and extremely feminine but personally I just can't be dealing with all these florals. ETA - oops! I forgot to mention, big thanks to wintersmelody for sharing her decant with me!! Edited July 6, 2010 by sunshinedaisybliss
Delirium1009 Report post Posted August 17, 2010 In bottle/imp: Lots of deep, dark florals with a very clean, almost soapy edge. Immediately on skin: This smells like lots of flowers all strewn together. It’s got soapy ones and deeper, sexier ones, but it’s still just about all floral notes. The deeper note reminds me of one of the flowers in Dark Delicacies… black orchid, perhaps? This is much more floral and less dark than that scent, however. After a little while: This gets a little more soapy and less dark as it dries. The higher floral notes seem to stick around while the deeper ones have all but faded. Overall Impressions: Flowers, flowers, flowers. Lots of them, from soapy, clean smelling ones, to more sinister and darker blooms. The pretty, lighter flowers stick around for the dry down, while the darker ones seem to fade however. Very pretty, but not something I’d wear.
Invidiana Report post Posted September 26, 2011 (edited) I'm surprised that I actually like this. I thought it would end up being some screeching floral to pierce my nostrils in all its wrath but it's actually pretty gentle. Greener in the beginning, it dries down to ethereal white florals with what I'm taking to be white musk. There is a powdery and soapy quality to it but in a pleasant way, like just having stepped out of the shower. There might be a bit of orris hiding in here as well and contributing to the downy feel. I won't be going rabid seeking more of this out but may spring for the released version. Edited September 26, 2011 by Invidiana
zankoku_zen Report post Posted December 12, 2014 Dark florals. This smells like wildflowers, a touch of either marigold and/or mum, and a touch of a dark, velvety orchid. Feminine, dark, sophisticated florals.
