alicia_stardust Report post Posted June 3, 2009 No scent description. Just the name alone almost scared me off of this. I gingerly handled the tester bottle and nearly put it back down without even sniffing it. But then curiosity got the better of me and I gave it a whiff. It's surprisingly light and fresh on the surface, almost like a smooth aquatic blended with a floral tea. But just under the surface there's a hint of something more sinister. On my skin it has a light smoky quality, not like brimstone and vetiver, but more like the smoky quality in blends like Pumpkin Smash and Hand of Glory. There's almost a waxy quality underneath the smoke. It's really interesting to behold, and not at all the horror that I expected. This is a more subtle sort of putrefication. It's like zombies with a cloud of air freshener sprayed around them. (A novelty, too, is that the label is spelled Putrefincation.)
zankoku_zen Report post Posted October 28, 2009 Okay, so on wet, I got a slap of lemongrass, and part of this kinda reminds me to the Ifrit/Sekhmet, and the other sandy/Egyptian based blends. It's got musk, (possibly green, as it got the manly cologne vibe to it), lemongrass/lemon, maybe white musk, and something else that makes it dark/sandy/gritty. I agree that its a 'darker' blend - despite the almost aquatic overtone it has. I am definitely amping up the musk in this one. Very manly.
fairnymph Report post Posted January 10, 2010 (edited) Light yellow oil. Clean, fresh, slightly herbal. Strongly cologney with maybe a metallic note - it reminds a lot of Torture Queen. Definitely white amber and white musk. One of the herbs is a tad sharp/bitter. Sharper, with that herb amping. I do also think there is a metal note in here, iron I suspect - because it has that nutmeg quality that iron does on my skin. Something a bit citrusy, zesty - maybe bergamot? This reminds me now of Hunger Moon. There's a hint of fruity sweetness that I suspect comes from the citrus. More metallic, and the nutmeg isn't coming out much, so I think there is actually a chrome note, but this is mostly about the white amber and amazingly, the citrus which has amped up a bit. I think it must be some sort of citrus peel/zest note, as that's the only type of citrus that holds on my skin. The chrome has amped further but the iron is still there, too, and it's more spicy and warm now. The citrus is holding well while white amber remains in command. This is a very clean, bright scent without being too sharp or soapy. Edited January 10, 2010 by fairnymph
hlinspjalda Report post Posted June 23, 2010 In the vial: Citrusy, herbal, maybe a touch of lavender? Not strong or pungent, but rather clean and tangy. Wet: Still herby-citrusy. There is a note I sometimes get in blends that include white musk and citrusy notes, one I call "the crittery note" because it smells particularly animalistic -- not heavy, but very much like an animal. (It's very evident in Whitechapel, for instance.) I am pulling a lot of the crittery note off this scent. So I'm guessing white musk and lemon verbena. There's a metallic kind of tang to it, also. One hour: Best use of the crittery note ever, as it went through a brief phase that really did almost evoke rotting. Now it's mostly past that, with a faint citrusy residue. But there is an underlying metallic note in it. That's an alchemist joke, and I love Beth for putting it there. White amber is one of my notes of love, and I am not getting a single whiff of it in this blend. Three and a half hours: Mostly metal now, with a touch of floral, less floral than Metal Phoenix but in the same family. It smells a bit like one of the Alchemical Phoenix blends, too, but I don't remember which one. It also reminds me of Torture Queen but again less floral. I'm not prone to wearing metallic scents, but this one would tempt me if I could get enough to feel free to wear it.
Blood onmy hands Report post Posted July 25, 2011 This is suprisingly fresh and spa-like on me. It's nothing like the dark, earthy-resinous vibe that I get from Putrefication v5. This is like slightly soapy aquatic with herbal/bright lemongrass or lemon verbena. It smells a bit like there's a hint of a masculine, lavender-y cologne in here as well. It's a little too clean and sharp for my tastes. Reminds me a bit of Phosphorous v5...
