PPH08

Recommended Posts

In the bottle: Smells like evergreen potpourri, with a hint of foody-ness lurking in the background. This one is very hard to describe, but it's definitely a holiday blend.

ETA:

On the skin: After reading biz4brent's review about this being a patchouli scent and not a tree scent, I had to go back and give this a full skin test. She's right about the patchouli, it's not evergreen like I originally though when sniffing the bottle.

Dry, my relatively untrained nose is getting spicy patchouli and something sweet like brown sugar or caramel, which helps tone down the overall patchouli POW factor.

From what I can tell, this is a gorgeous, heavy blend of patchouli and orange. Unlike Ravenous, this scent packs more the zest of the fruit, along with cloves, spices and perhaps a trace of coffee. Rounded, this scent has a caramel flavor with a smokey earthiness brought on by the patchouli. It is a contrast brought about by the brightness of the citrus with the darkness of the overall character of the fragrance. As a patchouli lover, I knew this one was for me immediately! And if I might borrow a page from Yeahbutnobut's book ...

Try also: Ravenous, Greed, Uncertain Horror, Vixen

Ok, this is crazy. I got PPH07 & PPH08 thinking they'd be Halloween scents. I swear up and down PPH07 is identical to L'Autunno Atmosphere Spray, and this one, PPH08 is identical to the L'Autunno Bath Oil.

The bath oil and PPH08 both have a sickly sweet smell to them, when I first tested PPH08 I was thinking there was something like salty burnt caramel to it, but as I look to the notes of L'Autunno bath oil (Sage, Myrrh, Patchouli, Molasses, Sweetgrass, and Cinnamon Sugar) I think that I was mistaking that scent for molasses.

I can't tell you how much these similarities are driving me crazy - if only I could ask Beth to share with me the secret of PPH07 and PPH08!!

Biz4brent has a pretty well trained nose - had it not of been for their review, I may not have been able to pin down some of the initial notes.

This is a well rounded version of Ravenous at first. As it starts to settle, the spices become richer and deeper than what Ravenous has to offer. What I perceive as "orange or orange zest" starts to wear off and leaves traces of cloves swimming in a gorgeous pool of patchouli.

This is a graceful morpher! I like every stage of this oil - from the heady start of fruit and spice....to the drydown - with its smoky ending.

I only wish I had an idea what part of the catalog (or LE) category this would have been meant for! Truly a haunting blend that will leave you guessing but coming back to continually huff your arm!

I knew this was familiar as soon as I smelled it, but it took Midnight Aeval's review for me to place the scent. This is dead-on identical to the L'Autunno bath oil. I would not at all be surprised to know that this is the concentrated fragrance that was added to the bath oil components. I love L'Autunno bath oil so I love this scent, but I'm also happy to know that I can slather from my bath oils bottles to have it. ;)

ETA: I have biz4brent to thank for being able to test this... he was awesome enough to out-of-the-blue gift me a couple samples of his protos. Thanks Brent! :wub2:

In the tester, it smells really.....smokey. Ok, going into unknown territory

Wet - It turns ....... non smokey. I get the potpourri idea. Ok, i'm geting a whiff of something sweet, and a whiff of something soapy at the same time....... this one might not be good...

Dry - Still with the uncertain potpourii idea.......... This one is sitting on my skin chemistry and going.................what do we do!!! I confuse this scent! It doesn't know what to do!!

This one definetly is getting passed on.

PPH08 reminds me to L'Autunno. I didn't get any citrus from the beginning, but I did get heavy smokiness, patchouli, and SAGE like crazy. There is a slight sweetness to the blend that makes me think brown sugar/molasses.

But... uh yeah. Sage is so not my friend.

I wore this for the first time since purchasing it on eBay (from one of the reviewers above, in fact), and I am sad to say there is no patchouli or orange at all to my nose. This is a very, very lightweight foody scent, and not at all for me. I love patchouli, and looked forward to this blend so very, very much that I'm heartbroken at what it turned out to be on my skin. :cry2:

I can't smell any patchouli or orange/citrus from this. PPH08 mostly smells like buttery caramel and a touch of dry, smoky, herbal sage on me. There's a hint of something like sweetly spicy potpourri in here as well as it dries down. I think I might like this as a room fragrance. It's sort of foodie, smoky, and warmly spicy in a way that makes me think of Halloween.

This is definitely the L'Autunno bath oil scent -- I've got both and they're identical, at least on my skin.

In the bottle I get an initial blast of buttery foodiness, but that burns off almost immediately. What's left is a *gorgeous* combination of grassy, slightly smoky hay, a bit of sweet molasses, and faint hints of the rich patchouli/myrrh combination lurking in the background. The sage and cedar come out a little more after drydown, increasing the autumnal dry woodiness factor.

I love this, and it combines *really* well with the L'Autunno perfume oil. The two together are quintessential Fall!

ETA: Great throw and nice long duration on this. I have to be a little careful to get the proportions right when I'm wearing this together with L'Autunno, as the throw is noticeably stronger on this blend.

On me, this was a buttery caramel sweet foody blast that was surprisingly in my face. But only while wet.

3 minutes after application, it was completely gone. vanished. I would never have known I put anything on at all. So peculiar!

I believe I'll be passing this on to someone who can wear and enjoy it better.
