aquazoo Report post Posted August 28, 2007 (edited) The scent of sexual obsession, slavery to sensual pleasure, and the undercurrent of innocence defiled utterly. Amber and honey with a touch of vanilla. Starts cherry almond. The almond hangs on lightly, kind of like something is baking. If O was baking almond cookies, this is exactly what she would smell like. Keeper! Edited August 28, 2007 by aquazoo
mlleglass Report post Posted August 29, 2007 First impression, in bottle: Sweetness! Golden! HONEY! Delicious, lip-licking honey. But NOT foody. I don't want to eat it. I just want to keep smelling it. I'm not sure how well I identify 'amber' notes; I just know that there's something dark cutting the sweetness a tiny bit and I think that's the amber. (Amber is used to this effect in a much less subtle way in Stella McCartney's dark rose perfume.) The vanilla is there but has a light touch and the honey remains center stage. This scent is warm and sensual, and I keep marveling at this scent that is honey but not foody. I hate perfume that just makes me hungry. More than food, this scent makes me think of girl-juice. It is called O, after all. This makes me want to beat up pretty girls. In a good way. I got this as a freebie sniffy when I bought some imps through a BPAL comm. Would like a small bottle, though I fear I might get tired of it. Must be in a particular mood to want to wear something this sweet all day, though would be very nice to wear to bed. usamimi Report post Posted August 31, 2007 In the Imp: Sweet and warm. Wet on skin: Vanilla! Honey! Oh, man, I wanted to drink it. Dry on skin: Like most people, it ended up smelling like baby-powder on me, too. :/ Too bad, when it was wet, it smelled fantastic!
aRaven Report post Posted September 1, 2007 This was a special imp which just appeared in my order. I read up on "O" and thought, what the Devil, I'll give it a try. I never dreamed I'd like it. I am not a subtle scented wench. First application - Nice. I was very leary because it smells sooo sweet. Almost like honey. Hummm, this isn't bad - I now get a nice vanilla smell. Again not overpowering, but nicely pleasant. A bit later: The sweetness has mellowed. I do not fear the bees as I did in the begining. I find myself smelling my wrists because I just love the smell. I would never guessed. It is still Vanilla/honey/Amber. Erotic - it has an erotic smell to me. A very alluring, warm fragrance. Maybe it is the vanilla that makes me think sex. Whatever the reason I like this. Thanks to the imp who threw this imp in my stuff. I never EVER would have tried this. I am so glad. This goes on my "order a bottle" list. Christine Daae Report post Posted September 12, 2007 Definitely starts off with something sweet and honeyed, along with what must be skin musk. Wet on my skin, it continues to be dominated by the skin musk. I've never smelled anything like it before. It really does smell like...well, like sex. ...Coated in almonds and honey, even! I wish the vanilla would come out more, but it's the cherry/almond smell (which I like!) accompanied by honey (which may be the musky-something I'm smelling). It's very subtle. I wouldn't say "light," but it stays close to the skin. This is a subtle, honeyed vanilla all the way. Really yummy and golden. Definitely keeping the imp, if not getting more (someday...sigh). tykhe Report post Posted September 16, 2007 I'm not a perfume person. I'm allergic to most scents that I've tried--they give me spike-through-the-skull headaches and itchy eyes. When a friend introduced me to BPAL, I couldn't resist trying some scents based entirely on the wonderful descriptions and names. I'm attracted to strong characters (Medea, Lilith), so I would never have considered trying submissive little O. But, O was included as a freebie and, since in the imp she was a mild, non-headachy scent, I decided to give her a try . . . . And OOOOOOO! I love this. In the bottle: It's deeply sweet but without sharpness--no alcohol or astringent flowery notes. Wet on the skin: It's vanilla and honey but in a way that doesn't seem foody. The scent fades very quickly on my skin--almost disappears. 1/2 hour later: The scent is back, vanilla and honey and something darker and slightly salty that restrains the sweetness. That must be the amber? 1-5 hours: It stays subtle on my skin, golden and warm with restrained sweetness and something comfortingly earthy beneath it. It is soothing and attractive without being overtly sexy. Hours and hours later, I can still smell O, though it now it is so subtle that people might think the warmed, sweet skin scent is my natural smell. I could wear O to work--as long as no one asks what it's called. Maybe I can tell them that "O" is short for Othello? Ophelia? Odysseus? . . . .
greencat03 Report post Posted September 19, 2007 This is like the beautiful, incestuous lovechild of Dana O'Shee and Queen of Sheba! Also excellent staying power, survived work and several hand washings! in imp: honey with an undercurrant of vanilla, amber grounding and binding it, mmmm on me: amber ramps up and takes the fore, supported by the honey, vanilla fades down to a mellow warmth after a few mins: everything's really well blended, warm and sweet and alluring. sunflowereyes Report post Posted September 22, 2007 (edited) O. . is amazing! In the imp it smells a bit iffy to my nose, but once I put it on it changed into the sexiest thing I have ever smelled! Warm, sensual musky amber with a touch of vanilla. I don't get much honey out of it. I wore O one night to a party and this guy who I had never met before literally could NOT stop smelling my neck. It was a bit over the top- he grabbed my legs and said I smelled like "pornographic thoughts" Needless to say, I am definitely getting many bottles of this. . edited 11/19/07 I had to add in that O has AMAZING staying power. . I wore it last Saturday & had a particulary rambunctious night w. my FWB. . come Wednesday we're chatting online and he goes: "Funny thing. I just smelled your scent. . now I'm really going to go crazy. ." mmmm O! Edited November 20, 2007 by sunflowereyes
polesiren Report post Posted September 29, 2007 I also can't think of a thing to add that hasn't already been beautifully described...bought a bottle sight and smell unseen based ont he reviews, dabbed a bit on last night and I still smell what I believe, every woman wants to smell like....beyond-sexy,warm,and totally feminine! My new "everyday" scent for sure,I don't care if the whole world wants to sniff and follow,LOL!
belenen Report post Posted October 4, 2007 I got this even though I hate vanilla, because I was intrigued by the description and some of the reviews ;-) I did end up liking it okay but it was too 'feminine' for me, and too much like your average perfumes. If you're like me and you like your scents to have a bit of bite, this will probably be too dull for you.
blowqueen Report post Posted October 10, 2007 It smells very lovely and sweet (the honey) in the imp and when it's wet on my skin. But as it dries it starts smelling like baby powder. Which is a big disappointment, I had high hope for this.
Jocelyn Report post Posted October 18, 2007 Mmmm... I love this one. I've been wearing it almost every day because my imp lid cracked and now it won't close, so I'm afraid of it evaporating before I get to wear it. It smells like a nice sweet blend of amber and vanilla on me, very warm and pretty. On me at least it has a good lasting power, probably 4 to 5 hours. I will get a bottle of this for sure. Honeygirl Report post Posted October 19, 2007 Bottle: warm vanilla Wet: Amber and vanilla, maybe a touch of something else. Can't put my finger on it. It's comforting and sexy. Drydown: Mmm, it stays exactly the same. Amber, vanilla and what I think is honey. I don't dig the honey note, but I can ignore it because the rest of it is so good. 4.0 outta
hkhm Report post Posted October 21, 2007 (edited) imp: amber, honey and vanilla. super-sweet smelling. wet: this almost smells like it's got a bit of sandalwood in it... it's still amber and vanilla with a touch of honey. this is reminding me of super-strong honeyed amber incense chunks that i melt on charcoal. i feel almost tipsy sniffing my arm. dry: to me, this still smells like warm amber with a swirl of sweetness. to my husband (who took one sniff of my arm and screwed up his face), this smells like "baby powder". he's got a point. SarahScent44 Report post Posted October 26, 2007 I was really excited to try O, because it is one of those legendary BPAL scents. In the imp, it was warm amber with an unexpected sharpness - so far, so good. When I first put it on, I got sweet honey with just a little vanilla - very nice. And then it dried. Powder. I can tell that there's something great way deep down, but it's buried under a thick layer of baby powder (which, you know, is not necessarily an unpleasant scent, but not sexy by any means). I even tested it twice, just to be sure... no dice. Boo-urns.
The_Merf Report post Posted October 30, 2007 When I first, first, first drew up my BPAL wishlist, I had O on there--just like everyone else does . However, I soon learned that honey had a tendency to go very wrong on my skin and I also learned that amber notes were very hit or miss with me. Because of this, I took O off the list. However, the Lab sent me an generous frimp of O with one of my recent orders, and I figured that it was time to try this BPAL Classic. Imagine my utter surprise when the most notable and powerful note I smelled in the imp and on my skin was...almond! Yeppers, this smelled like almond/cherry/marzipan when I put it on, and quite frankly, it still does. This is a slightly foody scent, with the vanilla in the background. I don't really get anything that reminds me of amber, and it seems like there's some honey sweetness with the almond scent (95 parts almond scent, 5 parts honey). I'm not sure that this makes me feel sexy or anything like that, but it is a comforting scent, and I'll certainly retest it to see what I want to end up doing with it. This is why you always test every scent you're given, even if it looks like it will be a disaster on you!
Lyrical Report post Posted November 3, 2007 (edited) In the vial: rich, sweet honey. Wet on skin: a pleasant, sweet smell with equal amounts of honey and vanilla and something warm and just a little spicy which must be the amber. It doesn't really smell like perfume. It smells of skin with honey smeared on it. There is very little throw. Dry on skin: a little sharper now, but rich and subtle. I really like this, and I will definitely use up the imp. It layers beautifully with Fenris Wolf. Edited November 4, 2007 by Lyrical
girlygirl Report post Posted November 14, 2007 O In the imp: honey and amber Wet: honey and something powdery. Smells like Kama Sutra Honey Dust Dry: honey that says "hey baby, how YOU doin'?" and growls like a tiger. Verdict: Lock the doors, turn off the phone. My honey is home and he's not leaving the bedroom for a week.
topazphoenix Report post Posted November 14, 2007 (edited) O started out kind of honey almondish. I thought it smelled similar to Dana O'Shee, only with more honey. However, the amber started making an appearance after little bit. Surprise, O really does smell like sex. Like when your brain sort of freezes up with heady longing. That kind. Then it faded to a sweet, powdery smell. Edited July 10, 2009 by AmandaKay
erraticprophet Report post Posted November 15, 2007 Initial Impression: sweet almond On Wet: honey, almond, amber (though a friend said I smelled like baby powder and I wanted to smack her upside the head because I most certainly did not smell like baby powder, but maybe she smelled how amber sometimes turns a bit powdery on me) On Dry: the amber did turn a bit powdery for a while, but that powder not eventually did fade and the amber came back full force and very sweet and scrumptious. For the record, I still want to eat my arm off. Final Impression: so very good. Almost as good as Dorian. Definitely a big bottle purchase! Rating (on a scale of 1-5): 4.
Jia_Mekare Report post Posted November 16, 2007 Hello, O, didn't I review you yet? Guess not. Imp: Honey, honey, honey-Wait, is that? No, it's just more honey. Wet on skin: Honey hits adulthood and hooks up with Amber. Honey is still dominant, but Amber is there for the ride. No vanilla yet, which makes me happy. Dry: Mmmm....Still smells like honey, but it's not cloying like I was afraid it was going to be. Amber is now an equal in this little scent relationship, and Vanilla never showed up to crash the party. Interesting side note: My cat loves this perfume on me. Normally she runs out of the room when I'm putting scent on, but not with O. She tries to lick me.
grashopper8 Report post Posted November 18, 2007 I got an imp of O fresh from the lab, so it hasn't aged at all.... So, with that in mind, I have to say that O is the most powdery BPAL I have tried as of yet. It's not bad, but I mean "Wow!" is it powdery! Some people claim that honey or amber can go baby-powder, especially when it's fresh, so I may still buy a 5mL of O and let it chill for a while before I really make a judgement. I can smell the honey, too - it's soft and happy and clover-y. I like powder, so I'm not disappointed, but I really get the feeling that there's more to explore here, and that I'll benefit from acquiring a bottle to set aside with patience. As is, it's still at least a 4 out of 5, because it makes me so damn smiley!
alicia_stardust Report post Posted November 18, 2007 O O is my naughty scent. I wear it when I want to smell sultry, raw, sexy, sweet, and rutted. The amber and honey combine with the vanilla to give this a musky, husky undertone that sits beneath a sweet, innocent, hypnotizing honey-vanilla top note. This is one of my top 10 favorite general catalog blends.
alianthe Report post Posted November 21, 2007 (edited) In the bottle: warm, a little floralish, just a bit sweet. Not getting the amber at all. This could go many ways on me. On me: it did in fact go many ways! First touch on my skin it was shouting baby powder. About half an hour after putting it on, it was heavy baby powder layered over the floral note from Katharina. About 20 minutes later, it was baby powder over patchouli, which was completely unexpected! I'm just not a baby powder fan (nor a patchouli fan), so the facts that the patchouli disappeared quickly and the baby powder took about four hours to quiet down added up to a sort of mixed blessing. It's going on 5.5 hours now and the scent is still very much there. It's kind of warm and soft, and the amber is just starting to warm up, but there's still that note of baby powder. I think maybe it's the honey - other honey-containing scents have seemed powdery or dusty to me before. This one, it's just overwhelming. Conclusions: This one is a long lasting one, and has a lot of potential if you either like or don't get the powder effect. I'm torn about whether to age it and see if the amber will morph it around, or give up and toss it in the swaps box. At the least, I think I'll hang on and see if it's a problem of being too fresh. eta: clarification of bad syntax Edited November 21, 2007 by alianthe
Pendragon Report post Posted December 23, 2007 wow 21 pages of reviews! Anyway, I tested O a few months ago and was all almond and plasticky-vanilla, the type of vanilla that dragon's milk sadly causes goes wonky on me. I didn't want to give it away just yet coz so many ppl seem to love it. Tried it just now and when wet my heart sank. I still got that almondy off-vanilla/honey smell, but as it is drying the almond starts to disappear and the scent almost becomes more musky and 'rounded'. It is not love, but definately likeable. Glad I saved this imp, but don't think it's worth a bottle just yet.
