Cinnamon, clove, vanilla, and pine sap.

I bought a bottle of this unsniffed on Etsy in the recent Carnaval extravaganza. I figured I couldn't really go wrong with these notes, and happily, I was right!

When I first put it on, Pickled Imp is CINNAMON. Loud cinnamon, with a whisper of pine. As is dries, it calms way down into a lovely warm vanilla spice. I can't really pick out the clove, but I know it's there adding to the happy comfy party. At the end of the day the vanilla becomes much more pronounced and it reminds me very much of the vanilla in Mouse's Long and Sad Tale, only warmly spicy instead of pink and sweet.

I love this very much and am seriously considering buying another bottle http://www.bpal.org/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/wub2.gif

I'm not sure how I missed the description on this way back when because I know I would have bought it for sure. Instead, it landed on my wish list and I was able to pick up an imp of it.

IN THE IMP: Soooooooooooo interesting. Cinnamon massively dominant, but I get the cloves and then the vanilla as well. No trace of pine to my nose.

Dabbed on wrist and in crook of arm.

WET: Nummy nummy cinnamon sugar cookies!!! Really SUPER STRONG on the cinnamon, so I would warn away anyone who is not a cinnamon lover (I am a cinnamon lover). I also get the vanilla but it's sugar cookie vanilla, not Playdoh or plastic vanilla. The cloves are VERY faint for me and I never get the pine at all. To me it's pretty much all cinnamon and sugar.

DRYDOWN: It morphs very little on the drydown. But that's good, for me. I have been trying to find a real "cinnamon sugar cookie" scent and most of the ones that are described as such don't QUITE work with my body chemistry. This does. I get none of the creaminess, none of the citrus, none of the pine mentioned by others. Just cinnamon. And cookie.

OVERALL: I absolutely love this. I will absolutely be on the lookout for more. It would be a GREAT Yule scent. I smell delicious.

On a scale of 1-5, a 4.6

To my nose: At first I couldn't put my finger on what on Earth this smells like in the bottle. Some kind of mint? I've then realized that it must be the pine I smell.

On: When I first put this one there's a stage that I don't care for. It's almost smells like marzipan and that makes me a little bothered. Thankfully it only lasts for the first few minutes, before it warms and blooms up. The real star of Pickled Imp seems to be the clove and cinnamon mix. Those are the most dominent notes in here so far, but I can detect some vanilla if I try hard. And I think it's one of those good vanillas that I can actually handle. Some reviewers has mentioned that the vanilla comes out more with age, so I'm keeping this one for sure! It smells like christmas too, so..what's not to like? I'm surprised that Pickled Imp isn't heavy. I thought for sure that it would be very heavy and have to be banned til colder months, but I can wear it most days!

After 5-6 hours the only thing left from Pickled imp is the vanilla. A soft and creamy one, I might add. This quickly shot up to my top 10 scents and I will wear this frequently during fall/winter! So happy that I bought a bottle.

Bought a bottle of this back during the Etsy rush earlier this year! I had to let it age because when I first tried it it was good but there was something a liiiittle off about it. It's been over six months, let's see how it smells.

In the bottle: Sugary vanilla with a touch of spice and sap. I'm reminded of the sugar cookie note in Mr. Nancy. :yum:

Wet: Initially it's just vanilla but the cinnamon quickly emerges and gently envelopes it. I have to say, I'm having a very similar experience to JazzieCazzie- it's like cinnamon sugar cookies with a vanilla that def isn't of the Play-Doh or plastic variety. :D

Drydown: The cinnamon calms itself a bit. In the wet it almost felt like if I inhaled deeply enough actual cinnamon powder would make its way up my nose but here it feels more incorporated. The cloves are light and there is just a touch of pine sap to tie it all together.

Dry: Just lovely, creamy cinnamon and vanilla with a hint of clove and sap. Absolutely perfect.

This was so totally worth a bottle! I was nervous when I bought it because cinnamon and cloves are a win but vanilla does that Play-Doh thing on me sometimes. Happily, this is a very doable vanilla. So glad I risked it. :wub2:

In the imp, it's slightly dusty pine with spices. Very holiday! On me, it's more like spiced cookies in front of a Christmas tree. It's less about the pine than the spices. Quite beautiful, really. Oh, some vanilla! This is yummy. My only complaint is that it fades awfully fast on me but holy crap it's dreamy anyway and worth slathering! I hope this comes back soon because I need some!

I love cinnamon, so Pickled Imp is a huge favourite of mine. Warm and spicy vanilla and when you breath in deep you get a whiff of clove and pine.

Not much throw, but it's perfect for those colder days when you want something to warn you up.

I got a tester of this from a kind forumite. I have been wanting to test more of the old CD's that I had passed up on before - my tastes have changed, and I look forward to further acts of The Carnaval being re-released.

This tester is really well aged, I can tell by how thick and syrupy it is. It looks glorious.

Wet: Cinnamon at first, but then the clove comes through, and that's what I was hoping for. I have been craving clove lately. My skin does amp clove, so that helps. This is sweet, and a bit resinous, actually, maybe because it's pine sap. Waaay better on my skin than actual pine wood it. This is spicy clove glory. Mmm.

Dry: Gorgeous. Rich clove, hints of sweet vanilla. No real pine to speak of, on me, but it has that resinous quality still, I think from the sap. This is amazing, and I only hope it's this good fresh, because I have every intention of purchasing a bottle if it's re-released with the next Act. I really hope it is!

I love Golden Priapus, so Pickled Imp sounded like GP + cinnamon and clove -- delicious! The pine is less prominent in Pickled Imp, just adding a resiny hint of evergreen to the vanilla and spices. Just fantastic, especially on a cold winter day like today. And it lasts a really long time. (Needless to say, this is a pretty well-aged imp, purchased here on the forums.) Is there any chance it might come back in the CD redux? I'd love that!
