The Wild Men of Jezirat al Tennyn (2006)

Recommended Posts

Fiery, primal, and precociously diabolical: red amber, Spanish moss, Indonesian patchouli, ambergris, red pepper, two cloves, and vanilla flower.

ooh. This is yummy. In a wild, untamed man sort of way. On my skin the amber goes powdery and the ambergris amps up, but I can pick up the earthy spicy wild sexiness. Eh, that's my crazy skin.It dries down to a clove-patch for me.

I think I have just the man to put this on, because his skin would probably be perfect, as is his personality. I should make sure it's ok to devour him before I do so...

I finally discovered bpal.org's search function last week and did a search for "clove" after falling in love with Port-au-Prince. This was one of the ones that sounded the most intriguing. Then I was online at the time of the Etsy boom and had to snatch one of these up. Now that I'm wearing it? It's gorgeous. I'm so glad I took a chance on it. It doesn't seem very impressive in the bottle, but on my skin, it blooms into the most wonderful deep, spicy scent. At first it's CLOVE CLOVE CLOVE, but then it settles down into this rich, dark vanilla scent with hints of red pepper and a tiny bit of an earthy undertone. I don't normally like vanilla, but this is making me reconsider. There's also something really familiar about this scent - it evokes memories of my extended family's place up in Maine.

The Wild Men and I, we were meant to be. I only regret not buying more than one bottle.

Ambergris and moss sounded appealing, and do give it a nice, earthy base. However, it seems like any 'red' scents, be it musk or amber, turn into a cologne scent to me. There's no vanilla sweetness or clove spice to this. Just that astringest, cologne scent. It's hard to pick out any other impression.

Ultimate cinnamon spice: hot, red, and peppery.

Wild Men of Jezirat al Tennyn comes in a scary bottle with glowing eyed demons on the label. Its description is just as terrifying. But there's nothing 'evil' about this scent. Dark maybe, and exotic. It's hot, spiced, amber goodness and utterly amazing.

Cinnamon is not listed, but that's how my nose reads it. There's clove and nutmeg, cookie spices, over a deep base scent that might be interpreted as 'masculine'. To me, it adds a fancy depth and I can't get enough of it. If there's any vanilla, it's very light and faint. This scent is not sweet at all, which sets it apart.

This is what I wanted Mama-ji to be. But Mama-ji (and Bengal, a chai spiced scent) had a mothball note I couldn't get past. Chimera is cinnamony and over-the-top sweet, like red hots candy, with a youthful girly feel. Priala '15 is a sexy grown-up cinnamon (and has her charms!), but without the moss which makes Wild Men so wild and wonderful.

This is one of my favorite spice scents. It has a lot of throw, it's sizzling, sexy, (and not at all office appropriate!).
