Good scents for travelling, vacations

Recommended Posts

I traveled around the Mediterranean last summer and wore Olokun pretty much exclusively (I had another imp of something spicy and sexy for night -- don't remember what it was, though). Olokun was fantastic for sightseeing in searing heat -- it's such a clean, fresh scent that it never feels overpowering or cloying. It's quite refreshing. I also happen to love it, so I never got tired of it :P. The bonus to wearing one scent for your entire trip is that when you smell it afterward, you have really strong scent memories connected to it. One whiff of Olokun now takes me straight back to Rome. It never fails to put a smile on my face.

I just got back from a trip to Scotland. I was a bit anxious about the trip, and found Dragon's Heart both gave me courage and fit in very well with my surroundings. I'm a huge fan of dragon's blood, though.

I'd definitely keep some of your "comfort blend" handy, if you have one. Traveling can be a fabulously fun adventure, but it can also sometimes be a frustrating, and lonely, pain in the ass. I'm thinking of all the times I've spent trapped in an airport "until further notice", or completely pissed off at my traveling companions, or trying to relax enough to fall asleep in a strange bed, for example. A warm-hug-from-home scent might be just what you want at times. (Dragon's Milk does it for me every time, but the point is to chose your own, of course. :P )

I'm going on a 7 day cruise to the Mexican Riviera (Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, & Puerto Vallarta) in March, and I'd love some scent recommendations for it since none of my current favorites really say "cruise" to me. On a day to day basis, I usually wear Morocco, Embalming Fluid or Parlement of Foules for nice occasions.

Thanks in advance! :P

Leaving for Las Vegas, and while I've spent the past 2 weeks planning what to _wear_ I haven't quite addressed the scent issue yet.

Looks like it's going to be at least 100 degrees all weekend (I'm a Seattlite, so this is HOT). I plan to shop, dance and er, booze. I liked the idea of wearing one scent for the whole trip so you can associate the scent with the memory, but I'm not sure that any of my usual heavy scents (resiny florals) are quite the thing for Vegas and the heat.

Thoughts?

Well, if you like florals, and have it June Gloom is nice in hot weather. Another one I find comforting is Dia de los Muertos and The School House.

They are all florals, that aren't overpowering in the heat. At least of me...

In the heat, I like to wear "clean" scents - Neutral, King Mandarin, Gnome. Sounds like for folks who like florals, 'clean' florals work out pretty well, too.

You won't need the additional help of booze-related scents, since you'll have plenty of that. For dancing, I like to wear something I find sexy, like Sin or Satyr, but others might find those too heavy in the heat. For actual travel, like being on the plane, I usually avoid wearing scents at all to keep from bothering other passengers who might have different allergies or migraine triggers than mine.

I didn't find the heat too bad in Vegas when I went about this time last year because everything is air conditioned. Even when we went shopping wearing my regular SO was no big deal because there just wasn't that much time spent outside.

Sin and Snake Oil come to mind because I think they would go really well with the heat.

I you want something to do indoors, air conditioned, and are fan of classic cars, May I suggest this http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g45963-d125449-Reviews-The_Auto_Collections_at_The_Quad_Resort_Casino-Las_Vegas_Nevada.html

You can get in for free if you print out a couple on their site, but for the life of me can't find right now.

and I want to do this in Vegas next time I am there. http://www.neonmuseum.org/

Sorry for the derail.....

Last time I was vacationing in Las Vegas I wore a lot of Black Lace (which an idiot friend of mine ended up spilling half the bottle of.. but I digress). I felt sexy, but it also worked well in the heat for me.

Hope you have a great time!
