BPAL Madness!

Recommended Posts

After all these years, BPAL is smuttier than ever. Three swarthy, smutty musks sweetened with sugar and woozy with dark booze notes.

2006 version

On me, Smut is a warmer, deeper version of O. In other words, orgasmic! In the bottle and wet on my skin, the boozy note is in the forefront, but thankfully it recedes as the the scent dries. What I'm left with is an incredibly sultry, yet comforting scent. It's a hug that turns into a night of sexual debouchery. Edited by Shollin

Smut 2011..smells just like aged 2006 smut. Red musk and meh booze. I actually prefer the grapier version of 2010. Won't need to track down more of the 2011 version though.

Huzzah for my first bottle of Smut!

It's even more wonderful than I thought it would be. I do best in warm scents, I find, and they don't get much warmer and alluring than this. I'm still learning scent notes, but I'm pretty sure that I get sweet musk and something honey-like after 30 minutes or so. I could swim in it. Yum.

Lord have mercy. :loveya: If any BPAL oil is DA BOMB, this is the one.

I had it last year, then dived for this 2011 version. The only downside is it makes my old beloved, Snake Oil, seem harsh in comparison. It's totally sensual and makes you feel like you're carrying a secret that no one else is completely privy to, even though they hover near. I got two bottles and if I were an oil myself, I would be Smut 2011. :pat:

2011: For me, this is the best Smut version and a total surprise love. I owned bottles of all the previous versions and ended up re-homing them because of this rubbery scent I got from both the 06' and 07' versions and last year's was too fruity grapey on me, but this is just right. Sugary, sexy, slightly boozey red and dark musks. :yum:

2011 is my first Smut, and OMG, LOVE.

In the bottle it's a lot sweeter than once it's on. Wet on it's effervescent grape-y soda pop with a wicked lick of red musk.

Dry down, a lot of the sweet recedes to more of a wine note, and the red musk shares the stage with a softer musk, maybe skin musk? Hard to say for sure. This had medium throw and lasted for hours. I kept catching whiffs of myself all last night and fell in love all over again. Never went powdery like some musk does on me. It was rich and deep. A very sexy smell, but also youthful.

This just came in the mail

OMG i never tried a other Smut then this years version, but it's soooooo good

Like the previous post i also smell that it's sweeter in the bottle then when you have it on.

Wet: i guess you can call it a bit grapey? it's juicy what i not expected.

Dry: it's a bit dusty, just a tad but it's a good and lovely musk

I cant pick out any type of musk, i can only say it's really that good!

To round it up: A light scent with a sweet muskyness :D

After a few days: i smell a very light cake scent in it, wich is even better!, hehe think i'm going insane of Smut

Gotta edit: i wanted to retry Smut to make sure if i need a back up (and how many? lol), and after a few mins i thought what's that lovely cakey scent? it's Smut! def. back up worthy! i guess just a lil age was enough to make my bottle cakeyness :D

This was my second unsniffed 5 mL purchase (my first being Samhain), and I definitely haven't gone wrong yet!

In the bottle: Jagermeister and sugar.

Wet on skin: Wow, this scent really morphs. It almost made me blush, and I can't figure out why! It may be because it's so musky. It's a light, pretty musk though. The sweetness is starting to come out. Yum.

Dry on skin: Hello, booze. The Jager scent has subsided into a sweet, light musk with some dark red wine to give it dimension. I don't get any of the bad latex reactions that other reviewers talked about, but this is the 2011 version.

After about 10 minutes, something earthy is starting to come out. It's making it smell even better. Could be a dark musk? I'm not sure, but it's making the scent even sexier, somehow.

I love it! Definitely my new date night scent.

ETA: After a few hours, this smelled like pretty perfume, grape lollipops, and....sex. I still like it, and it got me lots of unexpected attention at the grocery store!

This is for 2011's version.

I don't find a whole lot of difference between this year and last year. '10 was knock you in the face grape bubble gum booze, whereas '11 starts off more of a warm boozy-ness that lacks the heavy grape note. By the time it dries, though, I don't really find much dissernable difference between the two; which I tested side by side this afternoon.

I still love it to pieces, though, so no way I regret nabbing a bottle of '11. :)

In the bottle you can totally smell dark booze notes- I get whiskey for sure and a bit of smokey, peaty scotch.

On, wet: A milder version of WILF and Snake Oil. I get some of the smokiness of both and a bit of the sweetness from SO. So far, I am not getting the sugar or the delicious grape booze I keep hearing about.

Dry Down: This hasn't morphed as much as I had hoped it would, its still quite smokey, though not as much as WILF. It reminds me of dry pipe tobacco. Sweet and earthy.

I am on the fence about this one. Man, I am having some terrible luck picking oils lately (which is why we need a CHICAGO-area WILL CALL!! :smilenod:). This is the first Smut I have ever tried and based on the reviews and hearing comparisons to O, the honey notes, and grape booze I was certain this would be a major winner.

But again, its those notes that are in WILF and Snake Oil that I love but can't wear without feeling ill. Its so strange! Its no where near as heavy as those, but I was expecting something a little smoother. Aye aye aye...

l

EDIT: after a whole day of wearing I finally got the grape lollipop notes! I woke up this morning and still smelled of suckers. If only it had arrived much earlier!

In the decant: Musk and sugar.

Wet: Musks, some sugar, and perhaps some boozey notes.

The dry-down: This doesn't really morph, but it's not for me. I keep trying it every year, and it's okay, but not a "wow-me" scent. I wish it was.

This is for the 2011 version, btw.

Hmm, I find this (2011 version) just a bit different than other versions that I've tried. At first, it is more fruity, and less strong on the musk as other vintages. As it dries, the musk strengthens, but less fruit. It's pretty sweet and musky, and I don't get a lot of booze here. I like this better, it is less 'swarthy' and more sexy. I don't use Smut very much as a rule anyways, but I may try to trade my aged backup for this version as I definitely like it better.

The 2011 version is my first bottle of teh SMUT.

And I *~heart~* it.

In the bottle: Sweet, sugary musk

On wet: A warm boozyness kicks in.

On Drydown: Booze backs off just a little and mixes in with the musks. Mmmmmm... Oh Em Gee, I'm in love.

2010 version.

In the Vial: One of the "swarthy, smutty" musks must be red musk, because that's all I'm smelling here. Sweet, warm, smooooooooooooth red musk. Smooooooooooooth, man. And yeah, it's boozy, too... maybe amaretto?

Wet: The other musks start to emerge, though I couldn't name them if my life depended on it. There's something kind of fruity and candyish about this, but it's still boozy, and dark. Dark, slithering, and smooooooooooooth.

Dry: Sexy, sugary, sweaty... smutty. The red musk is still prominent, but it's losing its booziness. On a whole, it's getting softer.

An Hour Later: It's gotten much softer, and prettier, rather than sexy and smutty. It's a sweet, light red musk now.

Overall: Nice... but, based on the reviews, I think there's a better Smut out there for me. I would've liked this to be sweeter, and to have stayed smutty. I could see this being my go-to red musk blend for now, though, until I can try the other Smuts.

I have the 2010 version of Smut.

I can definitely smell the musk and booze notes. It is turning a little powdery (shit, I find everything powdery..), but it's not something that bothers me. A good scent, but not one I would wear much, I think. We'll see.

*Edit*

Nevermind..it's really REALLY powdery now. The booze smell has faded mostly and I am left with a soft musk that isn't exactly appealing to me. Oh well.

This was gorgeous at first- sexy and sweet, naughty and nice, leather and lace (not the scent but the idea) all wrapped up in one little bottle. Then, after about an hour, nothing but powder... So disappointing!!!!

I'm so confused by Smut. I want to love it. I love the notes so much. Its almost perfect on my skin, but there is something that isn't quite right. And it bothers me because it smells exactly like something I can't quite remember.

This sounds so strange, but it reminds me a lot of Bottle Caps Candy. There is a sharpness to it. I usually love the boozy bpal notes, but this one isn't great.

I realize as much as I want to love it, it doesnt work for me. Off to swaps

Smut 2008 - this automatically reminded me of Snake Charmer Res, but more sugary. When I smell this I think of purple, and fruit too. The musk is sweetened and altogether, it smells a bit on the flat side to me, but that is what SC Res does too. The staying power is really good. It lasts all day, but after a while, it can make me feel a bit nauseated. This one is difficult to really pinpoint notes, as I get feelings from this blend instead. Again, purple along with damp. Dull and flat. I get no booze from this whatsoever.

In Bottle: Mmmm. This blend is really sweet and sugary to me. Like a sugar syrup. Definitely blended with booze, but the only musks I can make out are warm, soft, inviting musks... not sharp and dark and powerful as I'm used to.

Wet: Warm and sugary.

Drydown: Boozy sex musk. That doesn't sound as appealing as I mean it to. :P I can definitely see where some people thought this year had grapey notes in it, but I don't care. It's like grape juice with porn inside. And something *really* weird, it kinda has an edge to it that reminds me a LOT of these stuffed toys I collected way back in the early 90's that smelled good. In particular, a mouse that was grape-scented. :P I loved that toy.

Verdict: I love Smut. It was one of my first BPAL loves in a frimp I got once; I'm happy to finally have a bottle.

Smut 2011

In the bottle: Sweet and chocolate-y with a tiny bit of booze.

On me: It starts of with a deep, dark and bitter chocolate scent. There is a fruityness in there if I take a deep inhale, and something "perfumey" as well. This is a very sexy and hungry scent. I described it to a forumite as "you smell like you are a box filled with boozy chocolates but will eat the first person who is within reach", and that is very true.

This is a heavy/heady scent that I probably will get a migraine from on the occasional day, but today I'm headache-free.

Half an hour later: There is a hint of grounded cinnamon in here. Yum!

An hour and a half later: It's a dark scent. Still bitter chocolate and something sweet, but not candy-like nor honey-like.. The deeper I sniff, the smoother and creamier it gets. It's such a good and sexy scent!

I went to bed a few hours later and this morning when I woke up I could still smell it. But the bitter chocolate went away and I was left with the sweet, gorgeous scent.

When I first tested this one I didn't like it that much. I thought that the boozyness was too strong and heady. But now i love it! It smells like really good sex, and would be great for seduction!

Smut 2012- It's amaretto smut! The inital blast is the dr. pepper scent I get from amaretto. It's distinctly different opening then 2010 and 2011. I dig it. It dries down to the smut I love and adore.

I have been putting Smut off since 2007...

2012 This is gorgeous! Smutty, dark musk with Cherry (?) in the beginning and more grape-y musk on dry down? This one confuses my nose, but I love it...and it lasts and throws with the best of them. I finally have some Smut! :)

Smut 2012 is better than it has been in the last few years. It is smoother, sweeter, and less sharp than in the past. To me, it seems like there is less black musk. This is fabulous this year and I will get back up bottles of this one for sure! :yum:
