A snarling, feral scent, ever-so-slightly deranged: hot leather, opoponax, cedar, pine needle, mosses, dry grass, patchouli and cinnamon bark.

There is a sweetness to this blend I was not expecting at all; additionally, my nose finds none of the men's cologne smell referenced by some reviewers above. Instead, what I get from Geek is a very innocent, light leather with an equally light grass note. I get no pine, no cinnamon, and no patchouli. Hmmm. Mine is a previously-owned bottle, so I have no idea how old it is prior to my acquisition in August 2009, but I like this blend enough to include it in my Leather Loves box. I do wish I could get the pine and patchouli from this, however. Two of 5 stars for this particular leather blend.

I mostly get the pine/cypress, and the cinnamon comes out the longer it sits on my skin. The leather is there at the beginning but not very strong, although it comes out more later.

 

Drydown is leather with spicy pine. I like it!

In the tester: dusty, musky, and brown with a bit of sweetness. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what I'm smelling here, it's very well blended. Pleasant, comforting. (Note that this looks like a faily aged tester.)

 

Wet on skin: wow, that disappeared quickly on my skin. I'm needing to pull hard to get anything newly applies, but it seems to bloom as it dries. It's very soft and faint newly on, but I can definitely get some leather. It's somewhat "dusty" or incensey, and sticks to the "brown" feeling--a brown, woodsy leather. I don't know if it's a matter of this being fairly aged but it's taking a while to dry on my skin.

 

Dry: ...and as it dries, it gets stronger and lovelier, in my opinion. A sweetness that wasn't there in the earlier stages has come out, plus a kind of coolness that I am attributing to the pine--that pine coolness is probably supporting the sweetness I'm getting a lot better than when it wasn't around. I don't have my bottle of Buck Moon to compare against now, but this kind of reminded me of that, and if memory serves, this is sweeter and more complex than Buck Moon, though it has the same "brown" comforting feel to it. It's still a masculine-leaning blend because of the woodsy leather, but that sweetness and coolness slide it closer to unisex territory.

 

Verdict: this is amazing. I really, really like it, just like I really liked Buck Moon, and I think I have more chances of wearing this than Buck Moon. However, it's crazy rare and I do have some leather blends I like fairly well without having to go hunting for this one.

In the imp: loved this at first sniff. The leather, the cinnamon, the patchouli - all plusses in my book!

 

Applied: Hrm ... not so sure about this now. It borders on slightly masculine, then turns somewhat ... perfumey. I don't want a perfume to smell like perfume, I want to be unique.

 

Drydown: everything else seems to fade and the leather mixes better with the cinnamon; I get almost a vanilla scent, with a hint of citrus, that threatens to turn powdery, but never quite does. I do love how this works.

 

The final verdict: the drydown/fade is my favourite part of this - however, it's almost a weaker Antikythera Mechanism on me. I A.M. and given that it's more easily available, that's probably a good thing

Wet: Soft leather, smoke, and sweet spice.

 

Drydown: Soft and grounded. Sweet, smoky woods with a touch of leather. It smells like cabin in the woods, complete with dry pine needles and grass on the floor brought in with someone’s shoes, and some sort of cinnamon stick decoration hanging on the wall.

 

Dry: The leather, opoponax, and patchouli fade into one another creating a cozy cloud of smoky, masculine-leaning goodness. The scent of pine and moss add an uplifting brightness, while the cinnamon adds an enticing sweetness. Perfectly blended and rather attractive.
