Pronouncing "BPAL" and scent names!

My best guess was "z-you-teh-choot-lee", but it could just as easily be "zoo-teh-suit-lee" or...something else ...anybody know for sure?

I can tell you how Loviatar is pronounced, being a Finn myself. If anyone cares to know, that is...

ETA: My sources say Baobhan Sith (also spelled Boabhan Sith) is pronounced [bo-van-shee] and it means "wicked woman fairy".

I used Anna Franklin's "The Fairy Ring" as source.

She actually taught me how to say "evil slut bitch" in Japanese...lol...I'm wierd.

Wouldn't it be BOW-an (bow rhyming with cow)? The A and O would make that a broad "bh," and it's my understanding that it would therefore be a W sound rather than a V sound.

 

Granted, my very very rudimentary understanding of Gaelic comes from a musician who's about an eighth Irish and cheerfully ignores the rest of his heritage...

 

Oh, wait. Is it a Scots Gaelic vs. Irish Gaelic problem? That could be, I know utterly nothing about Scots...

There's quite a few BPal scents I can't pronounce, or think I may be pronouncing wrong. And, I was wondering if someone could help me out. I'd like to make sure I get them right, so there they are:

This is going to sound a little funny, but I take my cue on pronoucing Scherezade from the Disney movie Aladin:

 

"Share a zod ee"

 

probably not the correct phonetic spelling (in fact, for certain not the correct phonetic spelling), but that's the way I pronounce her name. Dictionary.com suggests a different pronunciation, but it's based on the proper spelling of the name: "Scheherezade," rather than Beth's Scherezade. (I've noticed that she's misspelled several of her scents, such as Katharina and Titiania, which are spelled differently in the original Shakespearean plays.) Their pronunciation suggests (again with the not correct phonetic spelling) pronouncing it as:

 

"She (with a light "e," like in "item") her (the "e" pronounced like "pet") e (once again, like in "item") zad (the "a" like "father")"

 

As for the other names, I don't think I know how to (nor attempt to) pronounce them. Can't wait to see what others think.

The only one I can help with is Scheherazade.

 

That is pronounced:

 

Sh-uh-hair-uh-zod.....My Hubby says, "just tell them it sounds like 'your hair is odd'." What a goof!

Just merging this topic into a previous topic. The original scope of it was a bit wider than what you may have intended MissA, but Morrighana posted a pronunciation for Xiuhtecuhtli and someone else covered Baobhan Sith so it carries on the question.

Szepasszony -- (This is a guess from piecing together bits from Hungarian dictionaries .. salice knows a native speaker we can get confirmation from later.) -- Say - pass - son

 

Scheherazade -- shuh-Hair-uh-Zod

 

BAOBHAN SITH -- Bo- vhan Shee
