[No additional description given.] This needs a good shaking before application because there are small globules of what appears to be cocoa floating in a rather thick, viscous oil. It's been years since I've sniffed the LE "Gelt", but I'm immediately reminded of it - that and wood, I think mainly cedar on application. The cocoa is just a wisp in the background, and I smell a mix of golden amber, cedar and maybe sandalwood. This is reminding me a lot of "Aureus" at this stage. By dry-down, there's some vanilla joining the mix, and a good deal of it. And a hint of dried fruit and baked goods (Fig Newtons came to mind), but it really is so barely-there I'm not sure I'm not just imagining it. Overall it's a warm, golden cedar and amber blend with vanilla and a bit of cocoa and rich pastry.

[No additional description given.] Freshly opened new toy smell. Quite odd lol. Fresh with a drift of ozone.

Always fun (and hard) to be first! In the bottle - Pretty sharp to my nose. Heavy bayberry!! Not getting any candle out of this yet. On skin - Ah, there it is... takes a second, but as it warms up, there is that fake candle!! It is amazing how Beth does it! This is really a fake bayberry candle!! As it drys down, it stays pretty sharp....bayberry ain't playing games here! This is exactly what it is.....Fake Bayberry Candle!! I don't think it will be for me, but wow....very fun to try this and amazed at how true to the name it is!!

WHOA!! First sniff in the bottle...is a blast of....not sure what I am smelling!! Heavy... very nasal clearing! Could be something like camphor...not sure, but along those lines! On skin - Ok, it does settle into what smells like an almost burned down fire, but there is also something green?? I know that doesn't make sense, but there is something semi aquatic there.... very faint! Surprising low throw on me, but it is more masculine to me. Think this would be better on a guy.

[No additional description given.] i don't wanna be first! my reviews aren't that good this is slightly stale, but clean hay. no poop! just the hay. i think it is the same hay note as from a couple of scents we've had before. i loved Gunpowder, and i think the hay note in the background was one of the things that made me like it so much, and this is similar. fans of Hay Moon and Scarecrow, etc, might want to give this a try?

[No additional description given.] Yeah. It's uuuuugh...an actual lump of coal! You know that sooty, dry, slightly sulfuric note from La Befana? Or Brimstone? Take all the prettiness off of those and turn it up to 11. No joke.

[No additional description given.] oh, i don't wanna be first! my reviews aren't that good! but, well, here we go anyway... my point is ... i enjoy wrapping presents! i'm good at it! and i know me the smell of wrapping paper. which is a fairly specific cheap-processed-paper smell, mingled with inks, and just the faintest hint of cellophane. and yep. that's been bottled. as far as wearing this, i think it would make an interesting layering note. or character-building scent for RPGs

[No additional description given.] It's...ugh...aaah...uuuuugh...a musty Santa costume! It totally smells just like the bin of old Xmas things forgotten about in the damp barn. For realz. It's straight up old cloth and must. I just threw out some old cloth garland that smells just like this. I'm not even kidding. Again, BRILLIANT, but not even close to wearable. This is not a romantic interpretation of old things, like The Book or Antique Lace...this is a MUSTY old SANTA COSTUME! HILARIOUS!

[No additional description given.] In The Bottle: There are occasions where I just. don't. know. how they do it. This is one of them, because in the bottle, this scent is a *faded* popcorn- NOT fresh, not buttered, like Shill. This is old popcorn that's been sitting around for a WHILE. AND, in the background, is the faintest hint of pine. Like needles. On a Christmas tree. Wet On Skin: There's a tiny bit of a sugar note that's coming through at this stage, but like burnt sugar (not caramel), so it could also be wood smoke, like from a fireplace, that happens to be next to a tree strung with popcorn garland. This is INSANE. Dry Down: This is weird and yummy and I have never liked a scent with Any hint of pine before but it's so faint and so real that it's not bothering me! In All: low throw, a vaguely sweet holiday scent reminiscent pop trees and popcorn balls and cozy holiday evenings. It's really just amazing for how well it captures what it is. Well done Beth and co.!

Fiber-Optic Illuminated Aluminum Christmas Tree with Gen-U-Ine PineĀ© Scent
Lycanthrope posted a topic in Yules
[No additional description given.] So, fiber optics have a special place in my heart because I've always had a little crow in me - love sparkly things, shiny things. And now I do flow arts, many of which glow and sparkle. The bottle is adorbs, with the red BPAL icon struggling to peek over the giant paragraph of text in the name. Wet, it's definitely a pine, spruce-y type of scent. I'm trying to detect if there are other notes, nothing is abjectly metallic or tin-like, so not detecting the 'iron note'. On my skin, this is not exactly straight up pine, because I'm getting a... strange tiny edge of like sparkliness. Good god, I'm terrible at this hah hah! But it's certainly not like a cacophony of fruits, or other 'bright' notes that will occasionally represent multiple colors in the BPALverse. Drydown, it stays a lovely Christmas pine scent, without much deviation. Mild throw, so you won't destroy coworkers. If you love pine and spruce notes, this is a straightforward, but wearable, pleasant scent. -
[No additional description given.] Starts off with a blast of mint--peppermint, but not a sweet mint. Then a watery slush note. Not a sharp aquatic, not fully frozen snow, this is definitely slush. Underneath is a spicy wet dirt note, similar to Graveyard Dirt. The mint calms down after a few minutes, and more of the dirt comes out. I'm getting a slight almost lemony vibe along with the mineral scent of the dirt. It's nicer than it sounds, and I would wear this in any season.

[No additional description given.] Oh. UGH! Oh, god, no! NONONONONONO! It's. It's MASHED POTATOES! I mean, of course it is but....it's fucking mashed potatoes! Warm, creamy, zingy, earthy, kinda old, creamy, GARLIC mashed potatoes! Oh, GAG! It smells like the time I forgot mashed potatoes on the stove and then lifted the lid the next day. Oh. UUUUUGho! BRILLIANT! But DISGUSTING as perfume! LOL!

I don't usually write reviews, but there were none for this one, so I'll give it a try... ... to me this smells like beeswax-scented carpet, or like a slightly-sweet version of "new car smell." *EDITED* to add: I actually love beeswax and dust in BPAL scents, that's why I tried this initially... and was disappointed that it didn't smell much like either of those things on me. Skin chemistry is a funny thing, y'know!

Wow. This is absolutely true to life. You can even smell the salt of the ham and the juices are a little less juicy because, well, it's a day old, right?

Wow! The alcohol note in this is strong! There are other foodie notes in here that I am trying to discern as it dries down. Maybe some cake....

On my Yule "dream list" has been a pomander scent for a few years now. So I happily snatched up a bottle once the Yules came out...even if it was a rapidly disintegrating pomander. In the Bottle: Have you ever smelled a dried slice of orange? That is what this single note smells like in the bottle. Orange citrus but not wet, juicy, and sweet like a fresh orange. Wet: Still mostly orange citrus. Sort of like orange zest but a bit earthly too. That must be because it is disintegrating. I was hoping for a bit of clove but I'm not sure if it isn't there or needs some aging to bring it out. Drydown: Pretty much stays the same from beginning to end. Medium throw but it is a very gentle scent so the throw seems lower than it actually is. I thought it wasn't throwing much at all but my husband let me know that while soft he could clearly smell it while sitting several feet away from me. I like this a lot and can actually see me wearing it when I want a bit of something sunny in the winter without being too sweet. Or in the summer when I like a citrus smell but don't like to smell "sticky". I'll be interested to see if it gets even earthier as it ages.

I got some single note Yules for Christmas and this one was the one I was most excited to try first! In the bottle - sweet, sweet cranberry!! I do get a very slight hint of something "garland-ish". Amazing. On skin - Ok, any cranberry lovers out there, this is a winner! I have tried other scents with cranberry in the list of notes, and something always made it off, but this is just a pure, sweet, and soft cranberry!! Not much of a garland I detect, but there is something there! Medium throw on me, but this is so lovely! Cranberry at it's best!!

A light and sweet snow single note. This is very, very nice indeed. In the bottle, it has an almost fizzy quality to it. It's cold and effervescent and makes my nose tingle. There isn't an obvious mint note, as far as I can tell. Or not at this stage in testing anyway. The coldness from it is quite unique. Wet on my wrist, the fizziness really pops. This is actually rather soft and not at all chilling. It is starting to remind me a great deal of Go To Sleep, Darlings and then... out of nowhere... the mint jumps up. It's quite startling really, how it's so hard to detect in the bottle and then how it leaps out and says 'HEY, GURL.' So we get tingling mint and then that starts to calm down, thankfully. By the drydown, we have returned to a soft, fizzy and beautiful snow perfume. This is gorgeous. Also worth mentioning - my husband walked in whilst I was working with this one and he immediately stopped in his tracks and asked 'what is that? it smells gorgeous!' So given he was standing about ten feet away from me, the throw is seriously impressive!!

First again! Didn't have much luck with the single notes this time around, but this one, is awesome! I wasn't sure on initial bottle opening - first impression was a little too eucalyptusy-mentholy, where I've been a much bigger fan of the really true to life pine in The Jersey Devil, but actually, on skin this rapidly calms down, and turns into a perfect frickin' Christmas tree scent! Gives me weird memories of crawling under the boughs of the Christmas tree as a little kid, lying there on my back staring up at the lights, and if I found fallen needles I'd snap them in half and sniff them, and this scent is exactly that - freshly snapped Christmas tree needles - that blast of distilled childhood Christmas-scent you get, and it's so lovely It definitely is a single note - there's no creative extras with this one, but it does its thing perfectly, and I'm definitely intrigued for the layering possibilities! I (stupidly, arghh!) didn't go for the Snowdrift scent, but I'd bet that one + this one makes a really fabulous White Christmas layering cocktail! Think I'll be wearing this a fair bit over the holidays - much as I love sweet n sticky Yuley scents, on a day when I'm surrounded by family members and stuffed with chocolate, sometimes it's nice to have a scent that's quite crisp and clean, but still seasonal, and this is perfect (and oh, crap, I have GOT to try this layered with Lick It, holy balls - maybe that'll make for a snowy tree-thing! ) Tl;dr - THUMBS UP!
