In the vein (GET IT) of Boo, Suck It, and Spooky, this is a gushing font of sweet bloody black cherry cream and crushed dried blackberries. First review for this.... I am a cherry fiend, so this was a must buy for me. In the bottle: strong cherry cream. Very similar to the cherry in Ghoulish and Gothabilly. Wet on the skin: Same as the bottle. Very strong. No blackberry detected. Dry: this quieted down very quickly on my skin, becoming a skin scent within moments. Nearly a dead ringer for Ghoulish and Gothabilly, a soft cherry cream scent. No blackberry. I'm a bit disappointed in this. I have 4 bottles of Ghoulish, and I've a decant of Gothabilly, and so far this is nearly identical to them. I'm going to let this age in the hopes the blackberry comes out, and the strength increases. I won't sell it as I can always use more soft cherry fluff, but I was hoping for something different in this.

Red musk, sweet myrrh, blood honey, red patchouli, and red vetiver. Vampire Red is all red musk and myrrh with just a touch of honey to sweeten it. (*this review is from a decant, btw). It's a very wearable red musk as some blends tend to be very assertive to me. Average throw. I sprayed it about 3 hours ago and I can catch whiffs of it when my hair moves. The red musk combined with honey reminds me very much of Eldritch Dark HG..but obviously less "dark". The patchouli and vetiver are present but barely noticeable, this scent is all about red musk and myrrh. It's a very sexy scent. Definitely bottle worthy!

1.5 oz gin ½ oz dry sherry ½ oz lemon juice 1 tsp pumpkin butter 2 dashes of Averna amaro Pour the gin, sherry, lemon juice, pumpkin butter, and liqueur to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake that mofo and strain it into a rocks glass filled with ice and a strong, spicy ginger ale. Stir gently, and garnish with a cinnamon stick or human finger bone. This is lovely! It's a bright, effervescent fizzy scent, reminiscent of the fizzy note in the atomic luau blends or perhaps velvet pink kitty. There is a light autumnal note in there from the pumpkin, but pumpkin haters take heart! It is not powerful. More it just adds a buttery richness to the scent. I love this and I see it being worn frequently.

Pumpkin candyfloss with sugared lemon peel and a squeeze of lemon juice. In The Bottle: Sugared lemon and a touch of fresh pumpkin (no spice). Wet On Skin: The pumpkin wasn't very strong to begin with, and now it's already taking even more of a backseat to the lemon sugar. Dry Down: Oh, SO lovely. The lemon juice finally comes out as a distinct note against the sugar. It's the perfect sweet/tart combination and the pumpkin is merely adding a touch of freshness to the background. Frankly, I'm pleased that the pumpkin's role is so minute-I was really hoping this would largely be a sugared lemon scent, and I appear to have gotten my wish! In All: Low to medium throw, I honestly consider lemon notes more of a warm-weather thing, so I'm not sure how much love this bottle will get over the next 6 months. However, it will get ALL the love next spring and summer! <3

PUMPKIN LATTE Espresso, pumpkin syrup, smoky vanilla bean, milk, raw sugar, and a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg. Fresh from the mailbox. In the bottle: Mmm! Pumpkin with a hint of spices and a whisper of vanilla coffee. It's not super sweet. Wet on skin: Pumpkin again, of course! ^^ But I'm getting more of the cinnamon and nutmeg coming up. Dry: Pumpkin has settled down with the spices and vanilla nicely. The espresso is giving this a deep, rich almost nutty note. The cream and sugar add a milky sweetness. Later: PL stays pretty much the same for the rest of the day. Maybe with just a little bit more of the spices coming up again, but they aren't too hot or biting. Overall: This is an OMG!scent. Makes up for any regrets I had not getting PPV last year. I resniffed my decant and honestly, Pumpkin Latte puts that one in dust by PL's awesomeness. I am seriously considering another bottle of this, which I rarely do. If you're afraid of the pumpkin or coffee notes, I'd say don't be. This is a well rounded creamy spice scent with just enough sweetness to keep the spices from misbehaving. I've had it on my skin for a short time and already am completely smitten.

One kiss of clay-cold lips: frozen white roses, frankincense, white gardenia, white sandalwood, and vanilla orchid. Another beautiful blend from this update. The frozen roses are beautifully red, yet laced with ice crystals. Not overwhelmingly so, but noticeable. The gardenia is very prominent throughout the blend. The sandalwood and frankincense give it a nice grounding base. The vanilla orchid gives not only a touch of sweetness but a hint of that hot house feel I get from orchids. Overall this is a soft sweet floral blend, with a hint of something ... darker. But only a hint.

Brown sugar cookies with fat chunks of cinnamon-dusted apple and swirls of caramel. This feels like a very apple crumble scent. Or, rather, the brown sugar/oats/cinnamon crumble part with a huge dose of unbaked green apples. Even to the point of green apple peel. It settles into a more rounded apple note, but the apple crumble vibe is still there. My skin eats it pretty fast, but it is a perfectly pleasant little perfume.

John Downman An incense to call the Erinyes: opoponax steeped in black wine, spindle tree sap, nightshade accord, yew needles, and a drop of blood. Black wine with a touch of sticky sap just after application. This ghost is floating in velvety purple darkness. I can detect the darkest, woozy flowers just beyond the moss covered tomb in the midst of a forest. The Ghost of Clytemnestra is elegant and honestly, makes me feel like a raven while wearing it. I can see it being quite useful for ritual or other transformative ventures. Sleek black feathers and rumbling black clouds of fury. I am beautiful and perfect in this moonless night. (Clytemnestra): "I was slaughtered by the hands of a matricide. See these blows, see them with your heart! the mind asleep is given clear light by the eyes. You licked up many enough things from me, libations without wine, plain offerings of appeasement."

Red apple and patchouli with vanilla cream, white musk, red musk, and teakwood. Straight sniff: red juicy Apple. First time I've smelled the lab's Apple note and it is delicious. The red apple stays pretty solidly single note on me for the first five minutes. It's not bad at all, I just can't wait for the other notes! At this point it starts to become a little...incense-y Apple? Ooooh. Patchouli. This is the CREAMIEST, softest patchouli! Ahhh! All the notes are blending together now!!!!!!! It becomes an apple/patchouli incense...grounded by teakwood and warm rather than sweet by the red musk! The vanilla cream does peek through...but it is just the smoothest little hint of sweet curl at the end of a sniff. This is a beautiful, earthy, and warm apple incense scent. Super wearable and is definitely an autumn perfume. It actually smells a little like Satyr to me...if Satyr had apple and vanilla. Which is absolutely sexy. All the notes remain in the dry down...but they pass prominence to vanilla and teakwood!!!!!!!!! Moderate throw, which is good for a patchouli scent. It stays around for quite a while too! I'd truly say this is a 'perfect' blend. Nothing is lost. I will be purchasing a backup bottle.

And where should the living feel alive But here in this wan white humming hive, As the moon wastes down, and the dawn turns cold, And one by one they creep back to the fold? And where should a man hold his mate and say: "One more, one more, ere we go their way"? For the year's on the turn, and it's All Souls' night, When the living can learn by the churchyard light. White patchouli leaf, beeswax, ambergris, and pale incense. The first thing I get off this is honey! Eeeevil honey. The patchouli leaf is super light, barely noticeable. I'm not too familiar with ambergris, but the beeswax is nice and prominent. The incense is there too, slightly smoky without being smoky and just a little sweet. I accidentally ordered two bottles and while waiting for my order I was mad at myself, but this is clearly a blend I want a backup bottle of. I highly recommend this to people that love honey or incense. It really is something special. Can't wait to try the rest of my Weenie hoard!

Mod Note: 'Single Note: Graveyard Dirt Redux' was released in 2014 and 2015. Forum practice is to create a new topic when the scent name is changed, so we've created a new topic for 'Single Note: Graveyard Dirt'. If you're looking to review 'Graveyard Dirt Redux' from 2014 and 2015, the topic is here. If you're looking to review 'Graveyard Dirt' released in 2005 and 2008, the topic is here. Semantics, yo. [No additional description given.] In the bottle: that's Lab dirt, alright. Like Zombi without the flowers. Applied: Again, a lot like Zombi, minus the flowers. Worn: Not as strong as I hoped once it's dry. Something floral seems to come out of this after a while, and I'm not sure how to describe it other than "graveyard dirt". It smells like the ground around graves once the yew berries have started dropping. This only lasted about half an hour on me, there's the faintest hint of scent where I applied it, but that's all Hopefully, aging will give it a bit more staying power.

A fair witch crept to a young man's side, And he kiss'd her and took her for his bride. But a Shape came in at the dead of night, And fill'd the room with snowy light. And he saw how in his arms there lay A thing more frightful than mouth may say. And he rose in haste, and follow'd the Shape Till morning crown'd an eastern cape. And he girded himself, and follow'd still When sunset sainted the western hill. But, mocking and thwarting, clung to his side, Weary day!-the foul Witch-Bride. (Aw, c'mon, Allingham. Foul is a pretty strong choice of words, dontcha think?) Pale and lovely, with eyes belladonna-wide: hemlock blossoms and ghostly nightshade veiled by wisteria, white frankincense, black amber, and narcissus resin. I'm at a loss as to how to translate the scent experience of witch bride to words so that you, the reader, could gain some understanding of how it smells and decide if it's something you want to seek out. sorry! I blind bought my bottle based upon the label art and the theme and the notes and I adore it. I don't tend to go for straight up florals, and this isn't that. there's a sweet and warm resiny base, and some light florals (my favorite bpal narcissus experience to date!) on top, and it's just a nice beautiful blend. I only detect the herbal notes if I look for them, and I may only be sensing them because I read them in the description. they are subtle and add a nice bit of complexity (spoken by someone who loves very herby winter stars and the waters of the well of wisdom). witch bride is light to moderate in strength. very addciting.

Till they say, as they hear us - poor dead, poor dead! - "Just an hour of this, and our age-long bed - Just a thrill of the old remembered pains To kindle a flame in our frozen veins, Just a touch, and a sight, and a floating apart, As the chill of dawn strikes each phantom heart - For it's turn of the year and All Souls' night, When the dead can hear, and the dead have sight." The dead's cold black flame: opoponax, elemi, juniper, black musk, leather, and wilted mint. Straight out of the box this is just the blackest most hateful mix of industrial grime and dry rotted leather. It's absolutely ghastly. But don't give up on it! It just needs some time to settle. I sped this up by leaving the cap off for a bit and now it's much more polite. In my first sniff notes I wrote down that this smells like demonic windex. In the bottle: Juniper often has a hint of cat pee to it but this does not. It's a nice needley scent with some mint drifting over a subtle black grime. On the skin: The mint becomes the strongest note, there is a threat of pine scented cleaner and the grime dances around the edges. Dry: The mint and juniper have taken a back seat and it's become something almost parallel to Streets of Detroit. Verdict: I'm really impressed with how much it improved over the course of 24 hours and I hope it retains it's semblance to SOD.

The fear of Halloween. Menacing Haitian vetiver, patchouli, and clove with a shock of bourbon geranium, grim oakmoss, and dread-inspiring balsams pierce the innocuous scent of autumn leaves. In the Bottle: Ah, my beloved vetiver! And some subtle muskiness lurking beneath. On my wrist, wet: This is lovely. Warm and woody with a little bit of spiciness. The vetiver takes a back seat and lets the other notes come out to play. After 20 minutes: This is a warm, dark green scent That starts out rather strong and fades quickly to something soft and subtle. The individual notes are all present, but they reveal themselves gently. On my skin, nothing in this blend amps or battles with other notes. It's absolutely gorgeous and I will get another bottle with my next order.

– from Acme Magazine, 1906 Rose dusting powder, night cream, and upturned, scattered irises. The Rose is very--I initially said heavy, but that's not the case-- on this one, but that's definitely not a complaint from me. A very powdery, dusky rose with a hint of very high-end moisturizer-- reminds me of my Shesheido night cream. This is in no way a complaint, it's a clean (can't over emphasize the clean) rose scent that is a little bit powdery. The iris shows up a little but in the drydown, but this is, overall, a nice new rose scent. Very different than the ones I have now, so I'm thrilled. a breath of fresh air from my most recent favorite, Elizabeth of Bohemia. Would recommend this to any rose fans!! Strong throw, lovely scent.

Ambergris accord and bleached woods with white tobacco. The ambergris is definitely front and center in this one. So if that is a love note for you, grab this.Now. This is beautifully sweet, musky, and warm. It's that nice almost salty skin scent. I do not get much of the bleached woods, and just a hint of warm tobacco. It's a dry scent, but not dusty. It is absolutely gorgeous and it has some nice throw and wear length. This is the most beautiful smelling hag imaginable.

Eucalyptus and cerulean aodh, iris padilla, dried blueberry, and blue musk. In the bottle, blueberry dominates, though eucalyptus is the first scent to hit my nose. The blueberry is more pervasive, though. There's something solid and inviting, like an oudh, but the whole is swathed in blue. Under the other notes, I get a little light blue musk that reminds me just a bit of that in Bestiaire du Moyen Age. On my hair, my first thought is blue linen. The part I'm perceiving as lineny reminds me of Boo. Then the note mostly resolves into iris, except that I like it better than I usually like iris. I can imagine getting a laundry impression from this blend, though, even though that's not quite it. Anyway, it's blue. No fear on that account. Blueberry, blue musk. On my hair, there's only a trace of eucalyptus. I'm wearing this with Aquae bath oil and kinda like how they go together. Blue Roman bathhouse, or something.

Lyric night of the lingering Indian Summer, Shadowy fields that are scentless but full of singing, Never a bird, but the passionless chant of insects, Ceaseless, insistent. The grasshopper's horn, and far-off, high in the maples, The wheel of a locust leisurely grinding the silence Under a moon waning and worn, broken, Tired with summer. Let me remember you, voices of little insects, Weeds in the moonlight, fields that are tangled with asters, Let me remember, soon will the winter be on us, Snow-hushed and heavy. Over my soul murmur your mute benediction, While I gaze, O fields that rest after harvest, As those who part look long in the eyes they lean to, Lest they forget them. - Sara Teasdale A myrrh-darkened amber chypre sweetened by newly-ripened black pomegranate. The first sniff of this transported me straight outside to the depths of an autumn night. Granted the air outside doesn't smell exactly like resins and pomegranate, but what I really mean is that it evokes that feeling of a September (or October or November) midnight. This is a seriously dark pomegranate note, not nearly as bright as that in Persephone or The Fruit of Paradise. I love how this pomegranate is almost dark enough to be akin to blackcurrant, but still retains that characteristic "red" quality. This is the last pomegranate of the season, whose juice is as bloodred as the edges of an autumn sunset. The resins work to add depth on the drydown, which I can best compare to that same autumn sunset purpling and darkening before it succumbs to completely to nightfall. While the pomegrante note is perfectly balanced between sweet and tart, I believe the myrrh adds just a hint more sweetness--I tend to amp a subtle vanillic sweetness in myrrh. I feel September Midnight is the counterpart to Autumn and Winter, a prequel for what's to come as the days grow shorter and the nights deeper.

A thin moon faints in the sky o'erhead, And dumb in the churchyard lie the dead. Walk we not, Sweet, by garden ways, Where the late rose hangs and the phlox delays, But forth of the gate and down the road, Past the church and the yews, to their dim abode. For it's turn of the year and All Souls' night, When the dead can hear and the dead have sight. Twisted creepers of dying ivy, winter roses, shadow musk, and black moss. In the bottle this smelled like a generic slightly floral, slightly musky, sort of fresh scent- one with few discernible notes. Once it dries down, though, it becomes amazing on me. It also smells sort of like springtime. Reasonable, considering the ivy, rose, and moss notes. A bit odd, given that it's a Halloween scent. Whatever, I'm not complaining. I love what this dries down into. It's smooth, lightly fresh, a bit ethereal. I can see how it's sort of ghostly, but it's also still very springy and fresh air to me. It kind of reminds me of Poisson d'Avril. This is one of those scents where it's hard to pick out individual notes. I'm pretty sure I can smell some rose, but it's definitely wrapped and buried (heh!) in a variety of other smells. Pretty, fresh, and pleasant.

Crystallized glittering shards of lightly spiced pumpkin sugar. In the wet stage, this is a very sugary, lightly spiced (not buttery) pumpkin note. To me, it smells almost exactly like the Pumpkin Candyfloss note used in all the different scents of that name. As it dries, it smelled like lightly spiced white sugar with a hint of pumpkin. Yum!

Pumpkin candyfloss with lavender, violet sugar, and a dash of mint. Ah! I love this!!! Initial blast of foody pumpkin (pretty much pumpkin pie!) and strong lavender. This pumpkin is not spicy at all; as I'm very sensitive to spicy scents. Within a few minutes, the lavender is almost gone and the candy floss comes into play. Pumpkin pie still the star here; with that candy sweetness that continues to linger in the background. I didn't get much of any violet or mint in this blend. I should mention that I'm not a fan of lavender normally, but this blend is a winner!

A barren grove, silent. Dry, crumbling oak leaves dance through the skeletal, grasping arms of ancient trees. Yes. If you loved the candle (like I do!), you will not be disappointed! This is a bit greener? than the candle somehow and is a perfect cold weather scent. The green is sort of cologney but not in a bad way. Cold forest in winter but no evergreen. Love. I am so glad to have this!

[No additional description given.] At first spray, the dead leaves and tobacco come out swinging, with just a hint of cacao in the background! As it dries and settles in, I'm left with the blackened caramel and cacao, with mayyyybe a bit of tobacco hanging in there keeping it from being too foody. It is delicious and beautiful! Edit: Upon trying this again, for some reason the RIGHT side of my hair smelled like delicious caramel tobacco, and the LEFT side of my hair smelled like I had been smoking cigs and tried to cover up the smell by spraying Axe on my hair. NO idea why there was a difference--maybe one side was drier than the other?

Slices of apple dipped in golden honey. Oh my gosh, could I be first, please. In the bottle its like a bright crisp apple just picked off the tree. Warm and juicy, the honey adds the perfect amount of delicious sweetness. Oddly enough, I don't consider this scent at all foody, but actually quite light, bright and delightful. On my skin, it remains true to the bottle. YUM! so good.

Bonfire smoke rising through a cloud of ceremonial incense, encircled by swirling autumn leaves and a dribble of blood red musk. Wow. Very red musky. I smell this in A LOT of bpal scents to the point that they all blend in my head. I'm not really sure what red musk IS but to me it smells like a musk mixed with cherry or some other red berry. I smell a tiny bit of bonfire smoke and something a little musky but not unpleasant. This is a sexy scent. Another win on owning a bottle.
