Green apple, neroli, white musk, melon blossom, and champagne. I can't believe no one has reviewed this yet! This is the apple scent I was most excited for as I love all of the listed notes. In the imp and wet, strong champagne note with crisp tart green apples and neroli. Bright, sweet-tart, and fizzy! I don't smell white musk particularly strongly, but there's a bit of a round depth in the background that I'm guessing is the musk. This is primarily a lot of bright, sparkly topnotes, and it gives an overall impression of light gold colors and green apples, airy, bright and somehow a bit clean. I quite like this, and I would definitely use lotions or room sprays in this scent. As with other champagne scents, it just feels kind of bright and happy to me. Good throw, I don't have to press my nose to the test patch. My only complaint is that I wish the scent stayed around longer; I guess with this note list it was always doomed to be relatively fleeting. Neroli and champagne stick around most strongly in the drydown, with touches of white musk bringing out the more perfumey aspects of the scent.

A widows orchard: black, wilted roses, sagging oak, skeletal yew bushes, threads of saffron, and pads of black moss. The moss is strong in this one, combined with a spicy rose. I don't really get the oak, yew or saffron but they're probably contributing to what I'm noting as spice. It feels more like a Victorian parlour than a haunted garden/orchard to me but I do really like it. If you're a fan of moss & rose together, you definitely should try it! I suspect that this combo of notes may have potpourri associations for some people but for others (like me) it will suit just fine.

J.E. Millais Brown leather, tonka bean, guiac wood, and brown musk chilled by white frankincense, eucalyptus, and calla lily. I've not been first before. Hopefully, it is still helpful to some I'm a leather lover, and I like to try every scent that contains it. However, I really don't get any leather from this. It goes on very strong Floral (lily), white, biting, and clean (probably the mix of frankincense and eucalyptus). This does not work well for me, and while I like what the scent settles into, I'm probably won't keep it because the initial smell is abrasive to me. Eventually (an hour or so later) the throw softens -- the initial bite settles and I get a little less floral and a little more wood and tonka...and this continues till the initial floral and white notes are basically gone. This second stage lasts all day and is very pleasant and soft. I guess it could be described as somewhat leathery, but if I wasn't looking for the leather I probably wouldn't think that. I'm really glad I tried it on my skin as it softened to something that I would not have guessed from smelling the bottle.

They are loves last gifts; bring flowers, pale flowers. A cluster of pallid blossoms, white frankincense, and a swath of black crepe. Has no one reviewed this yet? Whoa. I bought one out of my really strange 'orphan BPTP/BPAL' thing where if something has no reviews or hasn't been as popular, I tend to adopt a bottle, lol. It smelled kind of jasmine-y from wet sniff, probably the lily skatoles. It's definitely very creamy, maybe not pink stargazer lilies, but white ebony funeral home lilies. The frankincense does add a sweet resinous glimmer, but it's not super resinous. I think there's probably a touch of a fabric or linen note but it's not like, super lacey. It's predominantely a strong white floral, pleasant. It has only light power though, otherwise it's me getting used to the floral scent really quick. I think it's nice, definitely will use up the bottle but it'd be real strong for bedtime. Unless I use my coffin, then I guess that'd be just perfect!

A quiet, warming blend of red maple, redwood, honey, and saffron. This is amazing... it reapply teeters on the edge perfectly, not too sweet and not too woody. There is a strong hint of maple syrup, but I guess the redwood prevents it from smelling like pancakes and instead males it smell like forest. This is my clear favorite of 2016 Halloweenies.

[No additional description given.] Of the five DL blends I tried, this one one smells the most dead-leafy when wet, with a strong, bracingly bitter edge. The leaf-ness of the dark tobacco marries really well with the leaf-ness of the DL note. The blackcurrant is tart and astringent and *just* fruity enough to keep the blend balanced and wearable. This is outdoorsy and cold and wild, not tame and pipe-shop. It takes a softer, more dried-fruit aspect as it wears. I didn't expect to like this one as much as I do. ETA: bought a bottle! That's how much I liked it.

[No additional description given.] First review again! Woo~ In bottle: Chamomile chamomile chamomile chamomile!!! With just a tiny hint of rose and leaves. Wet on skin: A burst of chamomile that quickly gets wrapped up gently in red roses sweetened by the white tea. The rose is super subtle. I love red rose, but my skin tends to amp it pretty hard, but in this blend it just hangs out in the background giving this blend a rich undertone. As I keep sniffing, the white tea's sweetness comes to the forefront more and blends gorgeously with the chamomile (which is now making me crave white tea and chamomile together in beverage form!). The leaf note I get here is really more subtle and surprisingly greenish. A bit like the note used in Nothing Gold Can Stay (another favorite of mine). Though as it dries, it gets a bit darker and crisper. Dry down: More of the same, and a hint of dandelion? It's not in the notes, though, so it must just be the way the chamomile, tea, and leaves combine. The rose gets even more subtle. I'm definitely glad I got a bottle. Another keeper, I think!

Beth hates flan, but I love it. This way, were meeting somewhere in the middle. This is a super milky, caramely, and spicy dessert. I almost feel like I'm smelling caramel popcorn. I love flan, and this is now my favorite atmo.

Sweet tobacco leaf and dried pumpkin. Just got this in the mail and sprayed it onto (another) Halloween bar towel. The tobacco comes on REALLY strong at first. I can smell some sweetness from the pumpkin, but mostly it's the tobacco. This is a very dry scent, and the tobacco still dominates on the drydown. This is the French tobacco note, btw, not the Bulgarian tobacco note. This scent belongs in a mahogany and leather-upholstered study. I am a big fan of the lab's tobacco note, so I'm not put off by the strong smell of tobacco, but I don't know how my husband or visitors to my house would like this one.

Righteous rage thundering from beyond the grave: blackened cypress tar, bleached white cedar, asphodel, patchouli, and night-black musk. In the bottle, this one immediately made me think of a library or museum. It smelled like old papers, dust, and preserving agents. I felt myself descending a polished stone staircase to a room with stone tablets and sarcophagi. On the skin, the tarry scent is strong at first, and then the smell of freshly pulled tubers, the cedar grows and there's a cooling effect to the nose, as it starts to dry, the patchouli becomes stronger. It feels like digging damp soil beneath a cedar tree after a light autumn rain. The musk comes out at the very end and is delicate, dark and not churchy at all. It dries to a solid cedar/patchouli. I'm enjoying this one a lot. -
Henryka Weyssenhoffa Terebinth, fir needle, and smoke. Sooo... I have no impulse control and I had to test it right when I got it even though I know I should have waited. Slathered it on and instantly was sad. It became old bathroom bar soap. But! I tried it later and it was much improved. I don't get much smoke from this, instead it really reminds me of the bloc na nollaig atmo (yuletide in a bottle). It has pretty decent throw but settles close to the skin after an hour or so. I might be wearing this more for winter but it has great layering capabilities for fall I think.

Pumpkin candyfloss with strawberry cream and red currant. This starts off with the same pumpkin floss note used in the other blends...sugary pumpkin & spice. The red currant comes up next, it's both juicy and tart. The strawberry cream comes up towards the end, it's initially a lovely strawberry note before it settles down into a strawberry and cream scent in the drydown. Yum!

Green chypre and clumps of moss with cypress, an oozing, sebaceous musk, and trampled dandelions. A mingling of greeny-green moss and cypress dominate the Zombie. The chypre brings an earthy -- not dirt, more figuratively earthy -- solidness. I get the dandelions. I'd hoped the note would bring a lilt of spring to what sounded like maybe a heavy blend, but that's not how it's working in this mix. It's more like a damp, grassy smell over it all, blending into the ponderous cypress-mushy moss tones. There's no smell of zombie rot, but there is dampness, a sense of greenery trampled down, sticking together. Good for the right mood.

Paul Gauguin Tahitian gardenia and vanilla orchid, wild white ginger blossom, coconut, tiger orchid, and a skin-prickle of white musk. I really like this! Fresh from the spray top it smells very sweet, almost honeysuckle-ish, altough that's probably the awapuhi/white ginger blossom. The gardenia also is apparent but not the front and center player. I can detect both the sweetness of vanilla and a slightly citrussy orchid floral mixing together, it's definitely an exotic mix. The coconut does start coming forward... I was driving in my car today and sort of thought about LUSH Alkmaar, with the coconut twang and meatiness. The white musk is probably there but I can't really say it's super prominent. I'd love to save this for a tropical vacation.

[No additional description given.] In the bottle: Mainly the leather accord and bourbon vanilla; the dead leaf note and clove are barely noticeable. Right after applying: CLOOOOOOOOOOVES. All of the cloves. They're overwhelming everything else. On drydown: The clove note stays really strong, but the scent balances out more, with the leather and dead leaf notes becoming more prominent. The bourbon vanilla note ends up really subtle compared to how the oil smells in the bottle. Overall: It's like a sexy, spicy pile of leaves. (It reminds me of Leather Phoenix, except clovier. Seeing as I dread the day that I run out of Leather Phoenix, I welcome anything similar.) For me, this is definitely a keeper, but you should probably bypass this one if you're at all on the fence about clove.

Joseph Werner A summoning: dragon’s blood resin, olibanum, galangal, bdellium, and myrrh. Inhaling the scent of this blend brings the biggest smile to my face. (Olibanum does that to me.) The dragon's blood and olibanum are the first two notes I notice. They blend very well together with the dragon's blood being somewhat subdued. The other notes add to the overall incensey/resin nature of this oil but I have to mention that the myrrh really adds a soft and atmospheric aura to it. I can close my eyes and imagine how it evokes the label art. The resins give it an aged vibe you might experience in a stone cathedral or tomb but the dragon's blood gives it that pop of awakening energy, the myrrh that etheral ghost rising up. Beth did a beautiful job translating the art for this into scent.

Upturned grave dirt, English ivy, black moss, drooping pine, dried cypress, blackthorn, and candle wax. In the bottle this smells very similar to Graveyard Dirt. Wet: this is really heavy on the Grave Dirt; its rich and damp and oddly sweet. I can smell beeswax which I'm guessing is what is sweetening the grave dirt. Dry: Grave Dirt fades back a bit allowing the other components to come through. Dark greenery, woods, beeswax, and a bit of camphorousness from the pine with that strange sweetness playing over everything. This scent is so odd but so compelling. I love its strangeness and know I'll wear it often in the Fall. It has a lot of throw.

White apple with violet and iris. I'm so thrilled to be the first to review this one! Apple VI was one of five (!) bottles I bought blind because this update was just too perfect--and because violet is my favorite note. I only let it sit for about two hours out of the mailbox, so I'll update if it smells differently after a longer rest period. In Bottle: Sharp red apple with something sweet but not quite violet. Wet on skin: When I first tried this on right out of the mailbox, the apple was super strong and red and reminiscent of the note in Poison Apple. After a few hours of rest, though, the apple is much more mellow and doesn't overpower the violet and iris, but neither is it quite as "mushy." You know the kind, when an apple is overripe and tastes mushy and a bit bitter in your mouth. I can smell the sweetness of the violet and something dirty which I know is the iris. Iris usually turns to fresh dirt on me in a way I don't like (despite loving dirt scents), but here the effect is lovely. It blends astonishingly well with the apple and violet, giving the blend a green but floral smell. This is not an overly fruity scent at all but rather a sweet, fresh apple floral. Drydown: As it dries, the notes blend more seamlessly together. A definite keeper--I just knew I'd love it! I may even need to get a backup! Throw length seems about medium to me. A spectral musk echoing the memory of neroli, rosewood, and frankincense. This scent is very interesting for how simple the notes would suggest. I definitely get frankincense and rosewood. Frankincense to me can be very gritty and bright, but it seems more subdued here with the rosewood. The musk is light (but it doesn't smell like white musk to me) and sweet, it hovers over the other notes and does kind of subdue them. Dry I can find just a touch of neroli if I really search. It really does smell like the traces of another perfume in musk. It's quite haunting.

Illustration for Robert Blairs The Grave Rivulets of beeswax and amber flame illuminating a pale blue midnight, eddying with phantom violets, olive blossom, and moss. I'm surprised no one has reviewed this yet, it's just lovely! If you're a beeswax fan, definitely check this out. Upon application this is sooo much sweet beeswax. The olive blossom is the next most prominent note, it has a somewhat green sweetness that blends so beautifully with the beeswax, making this so bright and alive smelling. The violet is light, adding a hint of powder. I get no moss really, although I love it and was hoping for it, it's often present as a binding type note.. As time goes by the amber begins to show itself more, adding a delightful hint of spice. The brightness fades and this is a sweet, soft powdered scent with the nuances of violet and amber. I think this will appeal to fans of beeswax for sure, and also those who enjoy "baby sweetness" type blends-- soft creamy florals, body-powder like scents, skin musk, soft, snuggly, comfy blends.

[No additional description given.] Tested at NYCC (note: Tested on the sith, so male skin chemistry) In the bottle: I actually had a hard time smelling this one in the bottle, might have been nose overload or con-air. Was trying to hit the coffee shakers between sniffs to clean the palate. Wet: the patchouli was fairly soft, a little sweet from the honey, and there was a lot more "leaf" going on right off the top than with a lot of the other ones. This was the leafiest one to me. Dry down: the honeyed patchouli and champaca blossoms don't really stand out from the dead leaves, but blend in. This is the most homogeneous smelling of the blends, I think, but if the dead leaf base note is your favorite, this might be right up your alley.

Apple cider and dry red wine with a glug of maple syrup and a generous scattering of ginger, clove, and cinnamon, garnished with apple and tangerine slices, and dotted with black peppercorns for warmth. Spiced Autumn Cider smells a lot like the mulled wine cider that I make during the holidays. Apple cider and a light, dry wine note are the base, and the ginger, clove, and cinnamon follow. The tangerine and black peppercorn notes are the most subtle on me, rounding things out and adding a slight juicy citrus note and slight additional spice. Wine is not always the best note on me, but it behaves well here and doesn't come across like wine in the way I'm used to...it smells fully mulled and more sedate. There is a faint alcoholic 'sparkle' to this, but it's not overwhelming. This smells fantastically seasonal, and I wish there was an atmo of the same scent! I may end up using this in my diffuser because it's just such a great smell to have in the air at this time of year.

Bruised violets chilled by eucalyptus blossom, ice musk, and black cypress tar. Skin testing this one today. The eucalyptus is not whoa eucalyptus at all in this so have no fear if eucalyptus is not your thing. It is still present but this is a softer more floral eucalyptus. At first I get a lot of the cypress and eucalyptus. The ice musk adds almost a slightly fresh/powdery element to it. Just makes it smell clean. It's not minty. The violet comes out more in the dry down and it's more of an herbal flowery violet. Oh, this is really pretty. Once it dries down, if I think about it, I really can smell all the components with probably the violet at the forefront. Throw seems to be medium (but I only applied to my arms to test). I usually also apply on my chest so I think that could kick things up a bit. Truly a winner. If you are a violet fan, I do not think you will be disappointed by this. The throw seems to increase with wear time. This is a gorgeous violet blend. Almost a little foresty in the background. I'm loving this.

Sour pumpkin candies crusted with pumpkin sugar. In The Bottle: Yup, that's sour, sugary pumpkin candies, alright! Wet On Skin: The pumpkin comes to the front, now. It's not a spiced pumpkin, but it definitely isn't just fresh, raw pumpkin, either. This is pumpkin with personality! Dry Down: It's sour sugary...potpourri? It's like a 'fall spice' mix, that's been turned into hard candy. It's a little bizarre, but is really fun and captures the general autumnal vibe. Much less about Halloween, much more about the season, which is nice, because those scents are a little harder to come by!

Henry John Stock Oleander smoke, white jasmine, ambrette seed, and cistus. I knew immediately that I would love this scent, and I do! Sniffed from the bottle, and on immediate application, it is quite a 'humid', light floral, with the sweet jasmine most noticeable to me in the top. Drying down, a beautifully clean, misty smoke accord comes forward, blending with the floral note and muting it - like flowers in a cool fog. The ambrette seed lends an interesting tobacco-like scent to the final drydown, while the cistus helps to ground the base with a sweet earthiness. What a gorgeous blend this is! Cold, ethereal, dreamy, yet utterly wearable.
