    The Sluggard

Wet, musky, sweet pear. Dry, much the same, sweet pear, less muskiness, kind of heady. This really reminds me of a jasmine-like perfume, though it doesn't go powdery. Not a big fan of pear and jasmine so this one is off to swaps.

    The Lights of Men's Lives

At first, lovely warm beeswax with a bit of a perfumey edge, but it's not bothering me at all. Dry, much the same, sweet warm beeswax, just like those sheets of them you can buy to make beeswax candles. My mom used to harvest honey, and this is very much like the beeswax I remember from my childhood. Every so often, I do get a bit of what smells like coconut, but again, it doesn't really bother me. I will certainly use the imp up, but not sure if I need a bottle.

    Kubla Khan

Sweet resins and leather to start with, then I get a touch of fresh hay, vanilla and musky resins. I really like this and may upgrade to a bottle, but will certainly enjoy my imp in the meantime.

    Olisbos

The ancient Greeks sure weren't shy about taking care of business. The port city of Miletus was once famed throughout the Mediterranean as a source of excellent stone, wood, and padded leather dildos. This scent is the celebration of an age-old pastime: polished wood, well-loved leather, and olive oil. Wet, this is more olive oil, and less leather. As it dries, the leather comes out more, and it's pretty much like how I remember last years version to me. Very much like a store that sells saddles, or a tack room in a barn. Evocative, but I don't know how much I'd wear it. It would totally suit a rodeo, and probably be amazing on the right cowboy. This is the 2013 version: This version seems like there's less leather as well, but more wood. In fact, I'm not getting any leather at all. Very masculine, kind of 'rough around the edges' blend. As time goes on, less aggressive, more olive oil and a touch of leather. I'm surprised how different this one is from previous incarnations.

    Sleeping Nymph and Satyrs

This is mostly sweet woods and vanilla tobacco. Very (very) much like The Antikythera Mechanism, only there is more woods and less tobacco. The same black vanilla is there, though, and it is a bit more feminine, though I'd say this was a unisex blend. Hmm, I really like this, but don't know how much I'd wear it, as I did swap my AM away, it being too masculine for me.
  6. #138 Wet, this is candied fruit and amber. I think it is of the red fruit variety, probably strawberry, I don't think it has the raspberry tartness or 'feel' of it. Whatever the case, it's really juicy, and there is also a bit of nut vibe and of course, the musky amber, which is really a lovely note on me. Not really a fan of candied fruit or nut scents, though, so I'll pass this imp onto someone else who will enjoy it more than me. eta: Ha, I do believe the fruit is juicy blackberry syrup, not strawberry.

    Biwa

Wet, very bright orange/tangerine. It smells like the orange in Lady Lilith, a blend that I love. Wet, it is orange soap, just like the Satsuma Orange soap that Lush makes, which is OK as a soap, but not for wearing. So disappointed, I thought this was going to be a win.

    The Ring

Wet, a foody, nutty amber. Kind of weird actually, but I love amber so this was a blind bottle purchase. Wet, the nuttiness fades, (thank goodness!!) and it's a slightly perfumey resin musky amber. Quite nice, perfumey vibe is just in the background, and the patchouli is making this blend somewhat 'dirty', but in a good way. I was worried about the skin musk, but it is very subdued. The hay and mint just add a bit of freshness to this blend. I really like it, but it is a tad bit soapy on me. I'll hang on to the bottle for a bit and see if things change, as I'm picky these days and only keep 'loves'.

    Wensleydale

This really doesn't smell like soap and cotton to me, it's more a strong floral heady soap. The kind that you'd find in a expensive hotel. Too strong for me, I kind of wish I got the cotton. Oh well.

    Time Does Not Bring Relief

Very ambery and musky with a touch of heady floral, but only a touch. This is very reminiscent of Trinket to me, one of my faves, but with the added floral content. Very relaxing, warm, lovely blend, but I do hope the floral tones down just a bit with some aging in it. Win!!

    Dancing Koi

First off, the label is just . Onto the review. At first I'm getting fresh, citrus something, though it kind of smells dusty at the same time, if that makes sense. After a bit, the freshness disappears, and it becomes very resinous and 'dry', and the sandalwood is definitely making it's presence known. The leather is just blending into the background, and it's a nice leather, not sharp, but 'creamy' with the woods and resins. The pencil description a post or two back kind of nails this on the head. Freshly sharpened pencel. That being said, this blend needs a bit of sweetness, or something, I don't know what. As it stands, it is just a bit too dry for me.

    Smut

Hmm, I find this (2011 version) just a bit different than other versions that I've tried. At first, it is more fruity, and less strong on the musk as other vintages. As it dries, the musk strengthens, but less fruit. It's pretty sweet and musky, and I don't get a lot of booze here. I like this better, it is less 'swarthy' and more sexy. I don't use Smut very much as a rule anyways, but I may try to trade my aged backup for this version as I definitely like it better.

    Male Nude, Arms Upstretched

Well, hello Panther Moon, nice to see you again!! Yes, this is very similar to PM on me, though more chyprey and smoother, if that could be possible, as PM is as smooth and dark as they come. Another notable difference is that this fades a bit quicker, and PM pretty much lasts all day on me. I do get the Wilf similarity as well, and at first thought that it was more similar to him in the wet phase. I'm beginning to find that dark/black/indigo musk is AMAZING on me, and I'm picking up variations (The Velvets, Panther Moon, Wilf), and love them all. This blend is incredible and those that missed out on PM or need more of the Panther love may want to try this. I will be getting a bottle, as I only have one of PM.

    Manilus Hurled from the Rock

Wet, this smells pretty much like Door. A slightly herbal honey with a touch of smoke. Wet, the leather comes out, and it now is very close to Sarah Pezzini now, though not as strong. Not sure why I'm getting the honey vibe here, I can't see anything in the notes that would even resemble honey. I like Door and SP, but have enough of both already, and this is much to similar to get a decant, let alone a bottle. This also fades REALLY fast, and is very faint within an hour on me.

Dark Chocolate, Lime and Chocolate Mint

Wet, this is dark chocolate and strong mint. It really reminds me of After Eight mints. Yummy! Dry, the chocolate is eaten up by my skin and we're left with smooth, creamy butter mint. Now it is Tokyo Stomp on me, though I think the mint is either different or stronger. I can really feel it clearing my nose and it's watering my eyes, which TS never used to do. It also doesn't go plastic like TS, though that happened when it was aged, not fresh. This is really yummy and I'm contemplating a bottle, though I'm not really a foody. I think it would be good as a lotion, after cool bath in hot sticky weather.

    Kytherian

Wet, very fresh, citrussy floral. Dry, the black narcissus comes out, and it's a little heady florally, but still nice with the citrus. Even though I find narcissus heady, it really is quite nice here, and I know there was a TP blend that had this particular note in it that I liked. Nice, but not sure if I need a whole bottle of this. May track down a decant at some point.

    Gods of Intercourse

Oh geez, I read Gin's previous review and I thought 'yeah, she's right, fruity shampoo'. Peachy, a touch of floral and you have a herbal essence shampoo. Not really a fan of peach, so this is not for me.

    Standing Female Nude

Wet, this is a lovely fresh amberey rose with a bit of citrus. I find it quite similar to White Rose of the Unity Set, but this would be like that only made with red rose instead of white, if that makes sense. After a bit, the amber and orange fades, quite surprising, as amber usually likes to stick around on me. It's now a pretty, light fresh red rose, nothing voluptuous or sexy. Innocent and pretty in it's own way. I wish the amber stayed, but as it is, I don't need any more of this, thought I can really understand the appeal of this blend. I could imagine a little girl, all dressed in pink, with ringlets wearing this blend. Damn, I wish it stayed the same as when it was wet.

    Womb Furie

This ends up being a less strong, less 'heavy on the honey' Womb Furie on me. Very similar, but I have 2 bottles of the 2010 version and don't need anymore. The latest version seems to fade very fast on me, whereas the '10 lasts all day. If anyone found the '10 version to be too strong and honey heavy, you may want to try this one. Very nice!

    Metal Rabbit

Wet, this is really a lot like Metal Tiger to me. Very orange citrus. The difference is that when Metal Rabbit becomes dry, there is kind of a touch floral perfume note that comes out along with the citrus. In Metal Tiger, it was a more clear, fresh orange citrus. I don't mind this, though I wish it stayed more like when it was wet. I'm certainly glad to have tried this, but I have a bit of Metal Tiger kicking around somewhere, and don't need more of something that is pretty similar.
  21. This smelled nice in the imp, but on, it's pretty much a female version of Axe on me. Very overly musky wood with a touch of apple shampoo. I'm certain the oils are not to blame, but rather my skin chemistry. I love me a good wood scent, but I can't believe how cologney fake this is on me. Sad.

    Ushi

At first, this is juicy Ushi! Lush mango and red musk with a touch of tomato. I probably wouldn't have recognized it as tomato, as there is just a teen bit here, it is more tomato rather than tomato leaf. Dry, it is still fruity, but not as much. It's also gettting dusty, which is ruining this blend for me. Still very strong fruit and only a touch of red musk. I'm not sure why some blends do this on me, but it's like a dusty shelf that stores canneded goods. One of the mango jams leaked all over the place and it smells like sweet dirty, dusty mango. Not for me.

    White Chocolate Martini

Wet, very effervescent with strong white chocolate. Dry, much the same, only the white chocolate dominates, with a teeny bit of plastic vanilla showing through. I do love to eat white chocolate, and I love the fizzy feeling of this blend. I find it quite foody, and would love to try this drink out. That being said, I don't really want to go around smelling like white chocolate. The vanilla in this reminds me of Snow White, just a tad bit plastic.

    Wolf Moon 2011

Wet, very astringent and snowy aquatic with evergreens. As it dries, a berry note comes out and this ends up being kind of a snowy berry blend, quite reminiscent of Ice Maiden bath oil that was out a couple of Christmas's ago. I like this, and will layer my imp with the little bit that I have left of Ice Maiden.

    The Last of the Spirits

Wet, lots of vetiver. Dry, the same, but not as strong. I don't usually like vetiver, but this is kind of nice in the dry phase. I am a big fan of myrhh, however, and the two together are quite lovely, though a bit too masculine for my tastes. Nice to try though!
