    Maiden v2

A testable sniffie from an awesome forumite! Wet to dry, I'm getting a gentle pink rose. Not getting any carnation, but there is some spiciness here, and that may be it I suppose. I'm not much for rose blends, but this is quite pretty, soft, not sour and stays true without going powdery. I'm not sure if I've tried the released version, but this is nice, and I'm very grateful to have had the opportunity to try it.

    Jingo-Kogo v6

At first, I get a musky, woody vanilla orange. This is pretty much love at this point. Dry, more orange, less sandalwood. Ergh, now it is very similar to Lilith vs. The Giant Crab on me. I'll have to do a side by side, but it is extremely similar, and it is what I thought of after it dried on me. I wish it had stayed how it was wet on, as it was unique to any other bpal I've tried. I do like this, but it is definitely not a HG scent for me, and those who are curious, Lilith vs. is very similar. ETA: I just had to add, I did one wrist JK, and the other Lilith vs, and while there is a similarity, Lilith falls flat after a couple of hours. I put Jingo Kogo on before bed, so I probably missed a few hours of the total perfume experience. I applied at 7:30, and at 12:30, she is still going strong, but as other reviewers noted, it is a musky vanilla with a touch of lovely mandarin. This is very nice, and yes, I would buy a bottle or three if it were ever released. BUT, there are other Bpal vanilla's that are very nice in their own right and on the same vein or feel. Lyonesse and Morocco come to mind, (as well as the oranginess of Lilith vs) though different, have the same vibe.

    Poisoned Apple

Wet, a juicy red apple, though it is not all that realistic to me, but it still smells good. Dry, still the apple, but something a bit dusty and evergreen-like in the background. I've always written off apple, but have found that it smells quite refreshing on me. I like this, and it makes me want to try other apple blends, but the dusty note is annoying me, though it does fade in and out. It kind of reminds me of those round flavoured lolly pops that are at the checkout of some healthier minded food stores, or those old fashioned straight candies in apple flavour of course!

    Tree of Life

At first, this is sweet woods. It kind of reminds me a bit of Atlas, Haloes, and the like. A few moments in, it has a definite freshness added. I'm assuming it's the mandarin, though it doesn't scream 'orange' to me at all, it's just so well blended with the warm woods. Now the woods are definitely fading, and it's more mandarin than anything, and then it switches back to warm woods. What a morpher! This is kind of reminding me of Knick Knack, at this point, something I love but only have two imps worth. Depending on the rest of the wear, I may try to track down a bottle of this gem.

    The Raven

From wet to dry, this is pretty much sweet violet to me. Not at all different from Faith. I don't get any black musk, which I love, but it is just slightly powdery, which could be coming from the orris or the violet. Violet it probably my fave out of florals (from a non-floral person!), but this is too similar to Faith, and I really don't find this scent to be forboding at all. I wish the black musk came out more. Maybe with aging?

    Berry Moon 2011

Wet, lots of fruit here, I'm getting mainly blackberries I think soaked in a bit of brandy. Dry, not sure what is happening, but a dusty note is coming out with something really weird, like hotdog juice or something that was sitting at the bottom of your fridge. The weird note fades in an out, among the boozy berry goodness. I make different vodka infusions, raspberry, huckleberry and sour cherry. The smell reminds me of perhaps what a mixture of these would be, only maybe instead of the huckleberry, it would be blackberry. I've kind of grown out of overly fruity scents though, but I'll keep the imp for when I miss summer.

    Glasgow

Wet, this is soooo pretty! I don't think I've smelled a Bpal quite like this one! It starts out fresh and green, though it's kind of hard to describe for me. After a bit, it becomes kind of herbal, I'm thinking it's probably the heather doing this. This reminds me of the smells that come out of my mom's herb garden, but in a slightly florally way. Heather kind of reminds me of lavender in a way, but not as pungent as some lavenders can be. The blackberry adds a slighty berry vibe, but does not take away from the fresh herbalness of this blend. This is so well blended, and reminds me of my mom. I may spring for a bottle at some point when funds allow, but for now, I'll just enjoy the imp. Well Done!!

    Obatala

Wet, aquatic coconut with a touch of creamy milk. I really like the wet phase, it's kind of perfumey in a good way, making this blend not seem all 'suntan lotion'. Dry, the aquatics and creaminess fades and we're left with dry, dusty coconut. It's really sweet now, and the dustiness does seem to fade in and out. This is quite enjoyable as long as the coconut keeps the dry dusty note in check, but I think the imp is plenty enough for me.

    Schwarzer Mond

In the imp, dark cola and resiny musks. On, more dark musk and less cola. (Yes, it is kind of more like Dr. Pepper!) I found the previous incantation more cola heavy, this is definitely more on the musky side. Both are incredibly 'dark' blends, though leaning towards the masculine side. I like both, but swapped my 08 version away as I just didn't wear it enough to justify keeping it. Still, this is a sweet, dark slightly cola vibe, and I may track down a bit more at some point.

    Touched Twice

As delicate as life, as gentle as death, and as powerful as love: sheer, luminescent vanilla musk with frangipani, red sandalwood, frankincense, champaca flower, coconut, rose absolute, white cyclamen, Himalayan mogra, angelica, and white oud. In the bottle, I'm getting a pink rose. I tried again later, and it was vanilla musk with a touch of pink rose. On, it's a tropical vanilla musk, quite pretty actually. Then, the rose pretty much takes over. Granted, it is a pretty pink rose, and it's not alone which is good. I'm still getting some vanilla musk here. A bit later, the rose is fading on me, which is odd, (and I slathered!)as rose will usually stay to the bitter end. It's sweet, kind of tropical vanilla musk with a touch of pink rose and the sandalwood making this not overly sweet, with a bit of 'bite' to it. I like this, but probably don't need a back-up.

    Twenty-One

I love gin scents. To me, they don't smell alcoholic at all, but rather fresh and effervescent. Twenty One does not disappoint, fresh, fizzy, not sweet and very refreshing. This reminds me of Velvet Pink Kitty, but not so sweet, and to a lesser extent Spinning Metallic Pinwheel. I'll keep this along with my other 'summer' blends to enjoy when the weather is warmer.

    Pallas Athene

At first, this is dry mild spices, a bit disappointing, as I am a HUGE amber fan. I am one of the lucky ones that amber doesn't turn powdery on. Patience pays off, and after 15 minutes or so, there is the most gorgeous, warm amber coming out. The spices are blended so well with the amber and resins that no one note shines over the other. I LOVE this, and need to hunt down a bottle stat. After a second round, I find that something in this blend bothers me a bit, and I think it's the sweetness with the resins. Going to hold off on the bottle for now, but keep the decant to see if it changes any.

    Hygeia

At first, this is all about the red musk, but it is more subdued as some other reviewers have noted. Dry, the spices appear, and now it's a slightly spicy subdued red musk blend. I'm not detecting any amber, sandalwood or florals at this point, but maybe it's adding to the blend in other ways. I still like it, though, but not sure if it's enough to keep my bottle. Will see how the rest of the wear goes, and go from there. This blend does depict the painting very well, deep oranges and yellows, very warm, inviting and spicy.

    Luna Negra: Ted's Creation

Wet, dark fruits and black musk, though a bit more heavy on the musk. This is really reminding me of Wilf and Panther Moon at this point. Dry, the berries are coming out more, along with some spice. For those of you who have tried Hellion, it's really reminding me of that right now. A bit later, it is really berry heavy and not Hellion so much anymore, but then it morphs back, the black musk is keeping the berries in check I think. Very well blended, Ted, and a definite bottle hunt down!

    Black Moon 2011: Beth's Creation

In the imp, I'm getting a really fruity floral. On, the fruit (which must be the pear), only sticks around for a few seconds and then disappears. Good, because I don't like pear. It's now a strong, perfumey musky floral, though I'm at a loss to say what the florals are, but they are pretty strong. After a bit, they get a little less brazen. Still a musky floral. This blend really isn't my kind of blend, but I was sold on the patchouli, which I don't get any of. I'll keep the decant to see what happens in time, but otherwise, this is just too perfumey for me.

    Vice

At first, kind of medicinal, like cherry cough syrup with a touch of dark chocolate. Dry, still lots of cherry, but it's more the marachino kind, and with the dark chocolate, it's smells exactly like the Rowntree's chocolate filled cherries. If you're into that kind of thing, great, get this. I happen to think the combination of chocolate and cherries is wrong (especially the cherries and chocolate that have fake ingredients in it). Eventually the chocolate fades somewhat, but it's still fake cherry. Cherry rarely works on me, so no surprise there.

This is definitely a BB prototype. At first, it is heavy on the patchouli, and it smells like the same one in BB, only a bit stronger. Then the vanilla comes out, (same as in BB to me), and I find this to be quite similar to BB now, kind of like a fraternal twin. The bad one. I don't really get any hemp. Still this is a sweet, vanilla patchouli, smelling quite 'hippie' up close, and bad, but the air wafting around me is downright amazing. Just a cloud of naughty vanilla. So happy I took a chance on this, and the other protos I bought. They are all wins, which is really rare for me for bottle purchases.

    CD: Misfortune Teller v3

Wet, this is very similar to Mme Moriarty, though there is more juiciness, like a raspberry or brighter fruit is added, though it could be just more of a balance of more plum. Dry, here is where I get more of a difference with the blends, but it really does have the "mme" vibe to it, obviously a prototype. There seems to be more vanilla upon dry down, so v3 ends up smelling like spicy vanilla plums, with more vanilla than the released version. The released version is one of my faves, but I don't wear it out in public, or if I did, it would be in the evening in a dimly lit restaurant. I do wear her frequently, but just to enjoy at home. This version is more wearable to me. I would definitely wear her out, especially in the cooler months. I love this probably just a leeeetle bit more than the released version, and will probably try to track down some more at some point. Fans of the original need to try this!

    Half Elf v5

This reminds me of other 'fresh' honey blends that Bpal does. Door, The Lights of Men's Lives, Sarah Pezzini. There is a brightness along with the honey, but it is not tooth achingly sweet. I like these kinds of blends, and only have partial decants of the above, so I'm happy I have a bottle of this one. There's a bit of cool musk that floats in and out of this blend to make it unique in it's own way.

    UOH34

At first, this is strong patchouli on me. It does smell like the patch in BB and Tricksy, but somewhere in between the two in regards to strength. I do detect some woods here as well. Dry, the patch fades, the vanilla strengthens, and the wood is only slightly in the background now. This is like Banshee Beat went for a walk in the woods. I like this, it's a different twist of the original, slightly more rough and raw, but still nice in it's own way. eta: As time goes on, the vanilla on me comes out even more. So glad I took a chance on this one, a lovely oak forest with sweet vanilla bean.

    RPG Combos

Good Elf: The Good seems to temper the Elf's piney outdoorsy feel, and Elf seems to tone down the sweetness, though Good to me isn't overly sweet anyways. The result is two beautiful musks, slightly sweetened with honey. This is like freshly washed elf (female) that has bathed in a woodland pool. I really like this, and have a bottle of Good on the way. I may have to get Elf too, if my imp doesn't last... Good Half-Elf: I'm getting amber out of this, and it's beautiful. Not as sweet as Good. Chaotic Neutral: I don't know what happened here, but I'm getting something strong and weedy, though I don't get that note on my own when I tried them separate. I love the musks in the background, but the pungent weedy note is just plain bad on me. It smells like someone has whacked off a bunch of thistles from the weedeater. Not a smell I like. Good Ranger: Seems like anything with Good can't go wrong. Though Ranger was much too 'butch' for me, the combination is a very fresh, summer day in a meadow. In the distance a hot guy with chaps is laying down beside you. Lovely, the leather in Ranger is REALLY good. Evil Ranger: Masculine, musky, leather outdoorsy. Kind of like a guy in leather walking through the woods. Neutral Half-Elf: At first, there's that weedy note, as in Chaotic Neutral, but it does fade fast this time. Dries to a minty aquatic, (but not too strong of one) on me. In fact, very much like Polar Bear Plunge. Very fresh and summery. Nice combo, this one. Good Paladin: Though I like Good, when it's mixed with Paladin, it smells kind of musty. The leather here isn't as good as Ranger. Evil Half-Elf: I was hoping the light besswax musk of Half Elf would temper Evil's well, evilness. At first, Evil still overpowers everything, which is kind of true in real life, but after a bit, it's a nice musk. I still don't get much sweet musk or beeswax, but Evil combined with Half Elf is much better than Evil by itself. Evil Elf: The fresh forest pine of Elf seems to temper Evil's overpowering musky resin's somewhat. After twenty minutes it's REALLY good, yet I'm not too fond of both by themselves. I think the light musks and heavy ones balance each other out. I would ssy this was gender neutral. Neutral Elf: Though I used equal amounts of oil, Neutral seems to be the dominant one here. Kind of white florally musk. I think I'm going to add more Elf and report back. Chaotic Elf: Cologney, fresh aquatic. Neutral Ranger: Ranger seems to make Neutral less florally to me. Kind of an un-assuming gender neutral blend. Nothing to write home about.. Chaotic Good Elf: Sweet, outdoors musk. I love Good Elf, and this is pretty similar. Neutral Good Elf: Sweet again, very unoffensive combinations of fresh and musk. I love this. Neutra Good Elf Ranger: Same as above, only with added leather.

    Knockout Drops

Wet, sour lemon candies, quite refreshing! Dry, a more sweeter lemon and vanilla. This is what I wanted Lemon Sticky Bats to smell like. Though I normally don't do foody blends, I really like this. It kind of reminds me of a lemon curd dessert with a dusting of vanilla sugar on top. I will certainly use up my decant and may hunt for more down the road.

    Thirteen (13): May 2011

At first, a lovely raw cocoa smell. Dryer a citrus comes out, with a bit of cocoa, I think it's a lemon one. On further drydown, spices and sandalwood comes out, so it ends up being a slightly citrussy sandalwood. I didn't like the citrus cocoa stage, it was a bit mismatched, but I like the sandalwood stage. And yet it morphs again as I'm typing, with more cocoa now. I'll certainly use up the imp, it kind of reminds me of Velvet, but with less cocoa and more sandalwood instead of myrhh. Now there's a cake vibe with the chocolate! A morpher to be sure!

    Pahoehoe

Holy smokes, this is a sweet one! Wet, I get a juicy red banana scent, kind of odd, a red banana, but that's what it smells like to me. Dry, the banana disappears, and it's more the grenadine with dry, dusty coconut. The banana is gone, but it's still very sweet. Coconut sometimes turns dusty on me, but the grenadine tempers it somewhat. However, this blend is much too sweet and fruity to me, it smells very 'young', somehow as a blend that a 13 year old girl would wear on her vacation to the tropics. Fun to try, but not for me.

    Steam.Goth

Wet, lovely cologne, with a touch of engine grease. Smells like a clean guy working on an old muscle care. Dry, much the same, maybe a bit more cologney. I get images of a hot guy, great body, faded soft jeans molded to a . OK, never mind. Nice guy blend, and I enjoy the smells and images, but I'd never wear anything like this. I'll pass this one onto someone I can smell it on.
