    LUMAI

I pulled this out of my 'to try' pile, and didn't recognize the name. Someone must have frimped me a sniffie sometime, I think it was your Sarah, now that I see the review above, THANK YOU!! There is that warm tonka/vanilla going on, but it's more in the background. After a bit, the vanilla comes out more, and there's still that fresh tropical floral. No resins yet. The vanilla is reminding me of something, but I can't put my finger on it. Either Cabaret Goth, or Jingo Kogo, that kind of vanilla, but again, it's mostly the florals here. Glad I got to try this!

    Neil

Lot's of sweet cherry here, too sweet, like cherry jellybeans. There's a dusty quality far in the back which makes me think there is pom here. Wow, too sweet and foody for me, but I in my quest to try every bpal, I had to at least try it. I'm thinking a young teen would really like this kind of scent. It does fade fairly fast on me, though.

    Raven Moon

I had the previous incarnation of Raven Moon, loved it until in started to turn odd on me after an hours wear or so. This one doesn't seem to be doing what the other one did (yet), I'm getting warm, black musk a sweetness to in and mild spice. I really like this, and may track down more, depending on the rest of the day. It is quite similar to Haunted and Black Temple Burlesque Troupe. Think BLBT without the cocoa, and you have this years incarnation of RM.

    Heretic

I like this, but it is quite similar to other red musk/incense blends, like Hygiea, only that one is more red musk heavy. This is warm, cozy, and has a bite to it, a bit of sharpness, slightly masculine. Nice, but I think my 2 decants will do.

    Vial of Holy Water

Very clean and fresh smelling at first, like the purest water in a pool in the forest, as I get a teensy bit of greenery. After a bit, still aquatic, but something is going funny on me, a few blends do this to me, it kind of smells a bit like earthy fungus. It was nice at first, and it's not that the fungus is unpleasant, it just isn't me.

    Conical Beast

This one is a morpher to be sure. It starts out as an odd combination of vetiver and night-blooming jasmine. Gradually, there is a wonderful ambery musk and fruits, but more musky/amber. It then turns into an expensive powder, kind of ethereal and orris like. Three different phases, and I'm talking totally different. I really like the middle phase, it is downright amazing, but it doesn't last too long in this phase. I enjoyed this, but not sure I need any more. May track down a decant.

    Exotic Bazaar Atmosphere Spray

I'm not good at picking out notes, but to me, this smells just like Morocco only in room spray form. Exotic soft spices with sweet vanilla. I really like this, and may spring for a bottle.

    The Inn Atmosphere Spray

This is quite appley at first, then a bit of spicy woods or patch, can't make up my mind. Whatever it is, it smells a lot like Samhain to me, only with less apple. It's quite nice, but fades fast.

    Mrs. Palmer's Establishment Atmosphere Spray

This is what I wanted Mahogany Hall to smell like! I do like MH, but it is more woody and masculine than Mrs. Palmers. This is a warm, gentle vanilla balanced out with leather and a touch of tobacco. It's a little too gentle, as I used several squirts, and it's fading pretty fast in my living room. I mostly burn candles and use atmosphere sprays in my bedroom as the living area is just too big for atmosphere sprays. This is more warm and inviting than MH, which I found to be quite aggressive, and had an alcohol tinge to it. It's almost the after effects of a baking day, with the vanilla, and then someone brought in expensive cigars in a leather furnished cozy living room. I really like this, and glad I took a chance on an atmosphere spray, which I rarely do. eta: I do notice the scent if I go out and come back in, but I really wish it had a little more lasting power like MH does. Otherwise, this is WONDERFUL, and I'd love a perfume that smelled like this. This does remind me a teeny bit of aged Perversion, only more vanilla and tobacco, and somewhat softer. It does last longer in my bedroom.

    Eldrich Dark Bath Oil

I am using the bath oil as a moisturizer today. Not as strong as I'd expect from the notes listed, and I slathered. It's a more close to the skin scent on me, though maybe my nose is broke today. Same red musk note as Mme Moriarty, though doesn't really smell like her, more like a red musk heavy Snake Oil, though not as foody and spicy as the Snake Oil Bath Oil. Sweet and voluptuous, warm and inviting, this is a lovely addition to my bath oil collection, though it's pretty pricey for such a tiny bottle, and for that reason, I'll just stick to my (larger) bottle of SOBO, which is expensive too, but better value.

Fig and White Sandalwood Hair Gloss

Lots of mellow fig with a touch of sandalwood. This smells a lot like the Boadicea Bath Oil from a couple of years ago, which makes me a happy camper. The oil morphed into something a bit weird on my skin, but this stays true to the scent. I really like this, and like all the other glosses, leaves my hair shiny and silky.

    Haitian Vetiver

I'm not a fan of vetiver heavy blends, but I do like it blended with other notes (Death Adder is in my top ten). I got this mostly for it's aromatherapy qualities. This is definitely the vetiver note in Death Adder, smooth and rich with a musky, earthy overtone. I'm surprised that I actually like this. It did start out as charred meat, but quickly morphed into the slightly sweet earthy musky goodness. My bottle has been sitting awhile, so this has aged a couple of months. I'm quite impressed, and glad that I have a bottle. As a side note, wearing this now, I feel rather calm and clear headed, though that could be because I'm on holidays too. *This to me, seems to be more of the scorched grass version to me, though it is pretty charred to begin with, and develops into the lovely scorched grass note.

    Red Lantern Atmosphere Spray

I've never been able to wear the perfume version of this as caramel amps to high heaven, and the opium just made this smell like burnt caramel on me. As an atmosphere spray, I don't find it seductive and mysterious or anything I'd imagine an opium den to smell like. It more reminds me of a kitchen where someone is baking spice cookies. Nice as an atmosphere spray, but not very evocative to the description.

    The Orgy

Lots of wine and honey at first, it then does a complete turnaround. Sweat and musk and dirty skin, so yeah, a bunch of wine drinkers decided to have an orgy. I really can't believe how this morphs, and into something very evocative and fitting of the painting, but definitely something I don't want to smell like.

    Nadie Se Conoce

Caramel at first, then something woody and burnt. Not for me.

    Waves of Mist

I could have sworn there was the Eight-Petalled Lotus note here, in fact I'm pretty convinced that it's there, unless there's something else that smells like it. After a bit, the distinction fades a bit, but it's still a lovely watery floral. I like this, it's fresh and clean and would be great for summer. It's not a 'in yo face' aquatic, but a gentle water aspect like (duh) mist. I'll probably hunt down a decant or partial of this, as it smells like EP Lotus, which I love.

    Buen Viage

A bit of spice and vetiver at first. Vetiver becomes more muted as it dries, and it's resiny, slightly spicy and an odd touch of somthing sour. I thought this would be a more aggressive spicy blend from the notes, but it's not on me. As time goes on, resiny with a touch of cassia. Not bad, but I don't wear a lot of spicy blends.

    Three Swords

I get the gas and oil comparison, but to me, this smells more like Tea Tree oil at first, which I do like for medicinal purposes. Does fade to a smell of a garage. Interesting, probably something I've never smelled in bpal land before, but not for me.

Satan Talks to Sin and Death

Lots of Siberian Musk at first, with spice. For some reason, this is reminding me of a more masculine Mircalla. Dry, the violets come out, and it becomes kind of watery violet musk. I do like violets and musk, and there are times when I like the scent coming from my wrists, and times when it just seems too weird. These violets smell a bit sour, or maybe the musk is making it so. Hmm, a confusing morpher, but I like it when the musk seems to dominate rather than the violets. I think this blend needs to settle a bit. A decant is in order, as I am intrigued.

    Die Sundë, Vom Tod Verfolgt

Well, I can hardly squeeze anything out of this sniffie, but I think I'm getting mostly orchids and musk. Lovely, from what I can smell of it.

Undine Comes Into the House of the Fishermen

For the first hour or so, it is strong milled soap, of the fancy kind. Dries to something slightly fruity, but still soapy, kind of like a berry body shop soap with something herbal mixed in. Not really my thing.

Dante and Virgil on the Ice of Kocythos

Lovely. I'm so impressed with some of these Pickman's. Even if I don't like them, there is something unique about the blend as well as being well blended. This one is kind of cologney at first, but them turns into a 'cold' slightly floral blend a touch of tea. There is an ice element that is making me thirsty, along with lemon tea and watery floral. I like this, but don't know how often I'd wear it, as it is maybe a tad bit too cologney on me, though it is cologney in a good way if that makes sense. Nice!

    The Soul of La Traviata

Mostly getting the plum here, and a bit of musk. The plum is almost 'wine' like, and reminds me of some other gc wine blends. This ends up being rather bland on me, and nothing to write home about, though I'm not a bit fruit fan. So, mostly a bland plum. Not for me.

    Monastery in the Mountains

This is beautiful. There's the lab's snow note, but it is slightly sweet in a non-foody vanilla way. Not sure where I'm getting the vanilla, but that's what it smells like to me. A little sharp at first, but dries to this gorgeous snowy vanilla. This is what I wanted Tokyo Stomp and Snowblind to be like, but they were a bit too foody on me. Bottle for sure, to be used in the summer months.

    The Tomb of Zai

Mostly resins on me, but they are rich and voluptuous. Just a teeny bit of sourness, at first, which I'm guessing is the rose, but gradally disappears. The rose comes out after a bit, and it becomes more florally than resinny, so kind of a resiny, sweet rose. Morphs rather quickly from resiny to soft floral. Nice, but I don't need any more.
