    The Lurid Library

I wanted this to smell a little more like really old books. As it is, I get a sort of hot, papery smell on top of lots of incense. As other reviewers have mentioned, a little goes a LONG way.

    Carnaval Diabolique

Oooooh. *shudders in delight* This is sweet, smoky lemonade on my skin. Not a Pledge-y lemon, but so real and super-tart it makes me pucker. And how does the lab get its opium smoke note to smell so real? The florals dance in the background and I don't get *any* vanilla, but oh baby, this works for me. Just lovely.

    Thorns

Got this as a frimp, and bluh. All I get is salt and rusty iron.

    Cockaigne

This reminds me a lot of the Villainess scent Decadence, a bit sweet, a bit foody, and a bit boozy all at once. The wine-y scent burns off my skin quickly, which is a good thing because it turns sort of metallic for a moment; and then a creamy, nutty scent is left. Nice, but not bottle-worthy.

    Titania

Titania is one of my biggest BPAL heartbreaks. Each and every note in it is lovely on my skin (okay, except for snapdragon; I don't know what that smells like ), and yet this combination is just awful on my skin. Why does it smell resinous? Why does it smell like stinky church incense? Such a loss!

    Lampades

The tangy cranberry note in Lampades is very, very good; but on my skin it is drowned out by the spice and the smoke so that ultimately, I get something unpleasantly bitter and sharp. Shame.

    Eat Me

I wish this were more red currant on my skin. I get mostly the "white cake," which is too simple and light a smell to do much for me.

    Tomoe Gozen

This is lovely! On my skin it is an ever-changing scent that one moment smells of loud, bright red currant, the next of thick honey, and the next of blackberry brambles. Through it all there is something very delicately floral about it, though I don't know what that might be. My first thought upon sniffing myself was "elderberry wine." Don't know where that came from. Amber is very hit-or-miss on my skin, but combined with the other bold and sweet notes here, it works. Just lovely. EDIT after two full wears: This lasts about seven minutes on my skin. It's going up for swaps.

    Coral Snake (2006)

I really love this! I'm not really a Snake Oil fan, but this is tempered so beautifully by the fruits and the florals that it is barely recognizable as an SO base. And I love that this is such a chameleon: It is fresh and fruity for summer, but heady and sweet for winter. Very versatile!

    Tweedledee

I am fascinated by the different kinds of pepper that are out there! BPAL blends with "pink pepper" are fantabulous on my skin, but I'm finding that anything else is very hit or miss. Unfortunately, Tweedledee is a miss. This pepper, combined with the tea which I'm finding also doesn't really like me, is VERY bitter on my skin.

    Tweedledum

In the bottle this is mango plus something green. On my skin, the fig-and-patchouli undertones amp and become too dusky and dead-earthy for this to work on me.

    Croquet

I finally got to test this and it is such a fun summer scent! The citrus is very bold and bright but manages to avoid the Curse of Lemon Pledge I so often end up with! This was recommended when I asked for "lemonade-y scents" and I quite agree: It is very refreshing, and it lasts a surprisingly long time on me!

    Frumious Bandersnatch

To me, this is Alice's baby sister: Soft but heady carnations with a pop of pink bubblegum (which I guess is the plum; it is very bright and fruity).

    Tiki Queen

Oh Tiki Queen, how have I not reviewed thee? I love love LOVE the scent of monoi oil so I was willing to try this out despite the presence of the evil ylang ylang, usually a deal-breaking note for me because it really gives me a headache. And I am glad I took the leap because blend is SO amazing. A bit fruity and a bit floral at the same time, and DEAD sexy, like heady tropical heat. Yum! And no pain in my brain!

    Lear

*rubs nose vigorously* I'm sorry, I can't even review this thoroughly: Sniffing from the imp literally made me gag. Eww.

    Hellcat

Oh, man, this is boozy and delicious *without* the salty boiled peanuts smell I usually get from super-foody notes. Love!

    Embalming Fluid

Identical to the Elizabeth Arden Green Tea perfume I wore in college.

    Baobhan Sith

This grapefruit is bright and fresh and fun. Add apple blossom as a floral anchor and you have a great springtime scent. Wait, what?... Oy. Ginger. I forgot about you. MAN ginger is bad on my skin, and this is no different. Shame.

    The Rose

On me, this is nearly indistinguishable from Rose Red (which is excellent, because that is in my top three must-have-at-all-times scents and The Rose is GC!). I don't get the aging weed/beer scent that the green in Two, Five and Seven gives me, but this is just the *slightest* bit more green than Rose Red. Like, one extra stem, or something. eta: So I've discovered the difference between Rose Red and The Rose: Rose Red lasts and lasts on my skin, while The Rose is gone after about 20 minutes. *sigh*

    Yemaya

Oh! *gag* *cough* Yeah, I get the melon note here, but on first sniff all this smelled like was vomit and I just can't move past that.

    Strawberry Moon 2009

Oh, man! Sniffing straight out of the bottle, this is like standing in a strawberry patch on a warm day. I get no candy-ish note here; it's all fresh, authentic strawberries to my nose, with an anchoring note of a soft vanilla that makes this a warm scent that lingers, rather than the typical berry that burns off of my skin quickly. And the label is adorable! edit to add: The first time I did a full wear of this, I slopped it down the front of my shirt and had to change. Sad waste of oil... but when I got home 10 hours later, I couldn't figure out why my apartment smelled so nice. Yeah, it was my shirt. And today, almost 36 hours later, it still smells lovely in here. Much sweeter than it does in the bottle, but still quite nice.

    Pepper

Oh, man, why did I wait so long to try this? This goes on similar to Alice, but then the bright pepper comes out. The honey and the gardenia blend together seamlessly and really linger on my skin. This is feminine and sexy and fantastic!
  23. Leopard403

    Whitechapel

To me, this is identical to Lush's Avobath. A bright, sparkly, fun springtime scent!
  24. Leopard403

    Lady Una

This is very smokey to my nose, which I blame on the musk and the spices, with a very creamy true vanilla bottom note. No real honey or blackberry to this sniffer, which is sad because I bet for those who smell those notes this is a really amazing blend!
  25. Leopard403

    Marie

This is lovely. Violet is sometimes harsh and sharp on my skin, but it is softened by the rose here. Methinks this could easily go the way of the old lady on some, but on me there is something bright and almost [pink] peppery about this floral.
