In the imp: Honey and rose. Yum! Wet: The notes are much harder to pick when on the skin. Dry: As it dries the rose becomes a bit more prominant, and smells like Tea Rose. Honeysuckle makes an appearance, which gives it a very 'nectar-ish' smell. Verdict: I think the description is perfect - a pair of hummingbirds fluttering around a delicate bouquet, in a complete 'love bubble' and unaware of the world around them. Definitely a keeper!

In the imp: sweet and smokey, I can smell the berry but it's not sickly sweet, it just gives it a 'brightness'. Wet: Creamy smokey berries. Quite nice, very rounded scent. Earthy would be a good way to describe that smokey part. Dry: Same as wet, but I can barely smell anything. Verdict: Fades very quick... perhaps I didn't put enough on? Jury's out on this one.

In the imp: ick, sickly cherry and aniseed. Verdict: Do I dare try it? Me thinks not. Be gone with you evil imp!

In the imp: I can pick the mandarin first of all, plus a hint of opium and a mingling of other scents. Wet: Mandarin and Lily of the Valley mostly, but I can also smell Sandalwood and a slight undertone of opium, which combine to give this a sharp floral edge. Dry: It starts to get a bit more creamy as the top notes wear off and I can still pick out Lily of the Valley. Unfortunately it starts to vanish on my skin. Verdict: Glad to have tried it, but not for me.

In the imp: this brings to mind a very olden style setting of a king and comrades at a big stone table, drinking red wine. The table is laid out in fruit - grapes, berries, melons. The fireplace has just had fresh-cut wood added to it, and there is a touch of scent from the ivy creeping up the walls that you wouldn't notice if you were around it every day. Wet: it starts very sweet and begins to dry, leaving a fruity, smoky trail wafting up from my wrist. Dry: The stone table has now morphed into a wooden bench and I can smell the leather. Sweet smoke is drifting out from the magicians quarters where he is burning sandalwood and herbs. Verdict: All in all - YuM! I think this would be fantastic on my other half, as it dries down to be distinctly gender neutral. The wet stage is a bit bright and sweet however.

wow 21 pages of reviews! Anyway, I tested O a few months ago and was all almond and plasticky-vanilla, the type of vanilla that dragon's milk sadly causes goes wonky on me. I didn't want to give it away just yet coz so many ppl seem to love it. Tried it just now and when wet my heart sank. I still got that almondy off-vanilla/honey smell, but as it is drying the almond starts to disappear and the scent almost becomes more musky and 'rounded'. It is not love, but definately likeable. Glad I saved this imp, but don't think it's worth a bottle just yet.

Are the 2006/2007 Lupercalia labels different in any way? Like do the 07's have '2007' on the label? The reason I ask is that I have a bottle of Red Lantern, but the label has been all but destroyed, as if something was spilt on it... the writing and colours are legible but that's about as far as it goes. I am trying to work out if it's 06 or 07. If it helps I could post a pic of the label to help? Thanks guys!!

Dragon's Claw - sooo hard to describe! I suppose 'nice' isn't going to cut it, is it? Okay... well has an almost salty-sweet edge, with light soft leather and I definately can smell the sandalwood, but not strait away - I get wafts of sandalwood as I am pottering around the house, it reminds me of the smell new wooden incense burners have fresh from the shop - the lingering scent of nag champa incense that you know will forever be in the grains of the wood. The sandalwood is so refined it could easily be mistaken as musk-like. It's quite sharp when first applied, however it dries down into a much softer woody smoke scent with sweet dragons blood rounding it off. I think the sweet dragons blood and sandalwood is what is giving it an almost 'salty' smell. Not salty like dragons tears, but sweet salt if that makes sense. It insights a colour that is very similar to the colour in the vial - watery warm red and ochre. Enveloping warmness. Overall it is a smooth and enchanting light-incensy blend, possibly gender-neutral. I am loving the claw right now!

In the imp: Yum, a subtle blend of citruses... I can pick out neroli, bergamot (only just) and madarin, with something soft, possibly the jasmine, rounding it all out. On the skin: Unfortunately this is another case where jasmine ruins a blend on me. It turns slighly powdery and the florals amp on me something furious. Verdict: I would only ever use this one in a scent locket. I wish it did work on me, because I loved the initial sniff!

Wow, this is sweet! And not a scent that I'd class as a floral either... it smells mostly like berries mixed with roses and a scratchy woody scent, which I'm guessing is the yellow birch bark? Combined together it is a very berry-sweet scent with light and depth, if that makes any sense? I love the smell, but somehow there is something about it that isn't quite me. I will definately keep my imp, but don't think this one is bottle worthy for me. But I still enjoy the scent!

Nice one! I can't beleive I haven't tried that!! There have been several scents that I've tried that have resulted in a run to the bathroom thinking not-so-calmly 'getitoff!getitoff!getitoff!' and I scrub and scrub and wash and lather but am still left with a residual scent... I shall try this next time - thanks heaps!

In the bottle: I didn't think I'd like this one much as I can smell strong Cognac with woody undertones, but I decided I'd give it a try so I can review it properly Wet: not what I expected! Almost like a masculine version of Pulcinella & Teresina, with similar wood notes but without the rose! Mahogany and woody, reminding me of a beeswax wood polish we used on furniture when I was a kid. Dry: Old dried wood polish that has soaked into an aged mahogany side board, with warped wood panels from being stored in a damp dark house. How on earth does Beth capture such imagery in a bottle?! Verdict: definately keeping the imp, but I probably wouldn't need a bottle as it is a scent that requires the right mood and frame of mind to wear, particularly because it reminds me so much of being little.

Come to Me was a Voodoo blend, which is now part of the Bewitching Brews group under 'The Conjure Bag' (here) HTH.

Get it off Get it off Get it off Get it off!!! I was silly enough to try this without reading any of the reviews where people have mentioned they had a reaction... I was having a pretty slow day at work productivity wise and I thought I'd try some - I now have big red burning marks down my neck and on my temples! So after my skin started to feel warm I read the thread and went to wash it off strait away, not before my skin felt like it was on fire, and then I tried it on the palm of my hands with no reaction. Phew! As for the success of the oil I'm not sure yet, but I have to learn to skin test these things!

Yum! I am finding it impossible to properly review this scent as I can't pick out the notes very well... although that could have something to do with the fact that I've been sick for the last 6 weeks and my nose is a bit stuffy The best I can do is say that this reminds me a little bit of Monsterbait: BiggerCritters, but a little less foody! Sweet, warm, slightly spicey and slightly foody with a sweet vanilla undertone. The spice must be the ginger, it is not the usual sharp bite-my-nose-off ginger, but more subtle which must be the red ginger. All in all a great scent, one that I am extremely glad I have and I think it will be perfect for Australian winters, however I will have to wait till next year to test that theory! Good to cuddle with if you're feeling cold and lonely, especially since it has the slight 'baked cookies' smell to remind you of grandma's kitchen! ETA: Comparing it next to Pumpkin III I can definately pick out the neroli... but its not there when I smell the bottle on its own!

Blood Kiss... Imp: sweet cheery and red wine, with a hint of honey and spiceyness in the background. Wet: what a difference! Now I smell mainly cloves and can't pick any other particular notes out of it, although it is a lot deeper than just the cloves... Dry: after 20 mins it hasn't changed much, maybe the cloves have just died down a little, but I still can't pick out any other notes. Verdict: this is another perfect example of the difference that skin chemistry can make. On me this becomes a very well rounded scent with the cloves the only note I can pick out. It is smokey and a touch spicey with warm dragons blood like undertones. A bottle will certainly have its place in my collection one day Pendragons rating: 3.8/5

CROWLEY (Infernal musk, red patchouli, lilac cologne, mahogany, lemon rind, oakmoss, leather, and vanilla husk) without a doubt I have not yet met a man who doesn't smell good in this! It's smooth yet masculine and the vanilla just rounds it all out... IMO it is the vanilla that makes this scent so special, it seems to linger in the air after my DF has left the room

Imp: amber and musk - sweet yet smokey Wet: whoa! Black musk! The black musk is definately the most prominent note on my skin Dry: black musk that has turned slightly powderish. Verdict: not for me. This reminds me of a lolly we used to have when I was little called 'Musks' - I think they were like a lifesaver type lolly? Anyways they were very popular about 15-20 years ago and this is what Haunted reminds me of... sickly sweet musk, with a touch of powder thrown in for good measure. I can see why people would enjoy this scent, but it's just not my style. Pendragons Score: 2/5

QUEEN OF SHEBA ...Her scent is a bounty of golden honeyed almonds and a whisper of African and Middle Eastern spices. Imp: strong dry almond with a touch of spices Wet: old dry almonds sprinkled with some spices... definately smells foody but don't quite know if I like it yet. Dry: this has still retained its dry almond scent, but with a twist that I can't bring into words. My DF said very sternly that it smelled like soap. Verdict: I was unsure if I liked it at first, hoped it would get better on the dry-down, but sadly it didn't. The comment from my DF was enough to make up my mind and I agree with him that this one is not for me. Penragons Score: 1.8/5 ETA: scent description

Shango... wet smells like a deep, thick, dark and spicy bananna + coconut blend. It smelled interesting enough in the imp to try, although I was a little unsure at first, I can now say with a big fat ICK that this one is no good for me sadly. Dry it turned overpoweringly sweet yet spicy bananna. Like a fruit smoothy left in the corner of a beachside cafe for a week to go rancid.

Lurid reminds me of Imperial Leather soap. Ick! It hasn't changed much between the imp or on my skin. Its got a kind of old musky scent to it that reminds me of an old man's bathroom... not an image I need! There is something that keeps making me smell my wrist... maybe because it reminds me of that soap. Regardless I think it's the cause of this oncoming headache, so I'm going to go wash it off. Definately not for me. Pendragons's approval: 1.8 out of 5 ETA: The scent still lingered on my wrist after I gave it a good couple of scrubs with soap. I hope I don't have to go to sleep smelling this!

Okay, here is my first review so bare with me... Imp: like dusty roses that have been stored and dried in a warehouse for a few years. Not that it's a bad thing, more like 'improved with age' Wet: mmm roses with a hint of musk and spice Dry: the musk is starting to dissapear a little and the dark dusty rose scent is transforming into something more like fresh delicate roses... the musk and amber keep it somewhere in the middle. No, wait, here is the musk again - ooo its wanting to play games Verdict: a very beautiful rose scent, a must for anyone that enjoys a feminine rose scent. The name Black Rose is a perfect description This will definately be one of my faves for when I need a day to reflect and feel special.
