  1. In bottle/imp: Vetiver and light peanut butter. Yeah, really.

Immediately on skin: This is an odd combination of scents. Everything together smells like vetiver and peanut butter… but when I separate the notes as I sniff, I get the vetiver, sweet resin, and anise. This is STRONG and a very thick, black scent.

After a little while: This has gotten even more bitter as I wear it. That lingering peanut butter feel has dissipated though. This is now a bitter vetiver and anise scent. This is really strong and very thick and dark smelling.

Overall Impressions: I'm not a fan of black liquorice, so this blend really doesn't appeal to me. It's like corrupted zombie liquorice or something... deep, dark, bitter, and so so evil.

  2. In bottle/imp: Spicy grapefruit tea. Yummy!

Immediately on skin: Wow, this is strong! It smells of grapefruit and ginger iced tea, but I can feel it in my eyes and nose as I sniff it. This is a strong smelling blend.

After a little while: This is still a very strong grapefruit and ginger white tea scent, but that sharp feeling I was getting in my nose has gone away. This is not really a sweet scent. The grapefruit and ginger are rather mouth-puckering.

Overall Impressions: This is a very crisp and refreshing white tea scent with a LOT of grapefruit and ginger. The notes match surprisingly well though and really blend together nicely; I can't even really separate the citrus and spice notes. I'd say this is unisex and I'd imagine it's wonderful in hot weather.

  3. In bottle/imp: Raspberry sweet tarts.

Immediately on skin: This really smells like raspberry pixie stix, or sweet tarts. It’s a strong, sweet raspberry scent with a very tart citrus twinge. It smells like candy.

After a little while: The raspberry has faded a little and the citrus has come out a little more. The scent still hits me as a tart and almost powdery raspberry candy. It’s sweet and really has a nice straightforwardness about it.

Overall Impressions: This one is a little too sweet for me, but I can imagine it appealing to some people. It’s odd how much it reminds me of pixie stix though! (or however you spell it) It’s fruity and tart with a lot of sweetness to it, but it’s balanced very nicely.

  4. Um... *bites nails*

Is it bad of me to wonder where my package is. I never got a CnS, so I don't have a tracking thing I can check compulsively, but CCNow says it was shipped, and people after me have been getting CnS's...

I don't doubt it was probably sent, considering I didn't get a CnS for my last order, either...and I have no doubt the lab is really really busy, and it's a bit silly to worry about it...

But I really want my locket. :D

CCNow "shipped" doesn't mean it actually shipped necessarily. It changes to that once the lab harvests your order to begin working on it.

USPS Click N Ship notices are what you usually get when it has shipped.

ETA: Yeah, what angharad said :P

  5. So, I have in my possession 724 and 725, aka: DCCXXIV and DCCXXV

I'm currently only reviewing 724. In the bottle, it smells like apples! Like bright red, juicy apples! And something a tinge soapy, which I'm guessing is rose. Hrm. Rose and I haven't been on the best of terms lately.

Oddly enough, on my skin, the rose takes a backseat to something that reminds me of the cream from Milk Moon '05, and possibly '07. It is sweeter than I remember '05 being, though. There is definitely rose in this. Rose, milk and apples. There's something deeper that's grounding this and making it something that is not the light, frou-frou scent you'd expect from hearing those three notes. Maybe another fruit? Fig or something. I absolutely cannot stand the milk/cream note. It's like what I remember from Obatala, so maybe it's coconut... weird. I think I'd recognize coconut. It could be coconut milk, but I don't know. As it dries, it becomes bearable. I thought there might be honey earlier, but I don't think so anymore. I think the fruit sweetens it up just a little and it would be way sweeter with honey in it. So it's kinda like Milk Moon with roses and apples in it.

I got bottles DCCXXII and DCCXXIII (722 and 723) and as for my review, I get that same tropical milkiness cordia reported from 723, plus apples (green, crisp apples) and grapes. Maybe some fig, too. I'm pretty sure it's coconut milk in mine, and after a little bit it smells like a tropical drink on my skin. It reminded me a little of Milk Moon 07 or Obatala, but I can't stand either of those (they literally make me gag) and this one was nice... it just wasn't me. At first, though, 723 is crisp green apples, white grapes, and a touch of cake on my skin. It's similar in the bottle.

As for DCCXXII (722), this one is odd. In the bottle it's sort of like cake and clean laundry. After I apply it to my skin I get that clean feel plus something lightly nutty and smoky, and some smooth fruit like dates. After a while a cool, bluish floral scent comes out. I can't identify a single note in this, but it's nice.

  6. Lune Noire: Beth's Creation
The encroaching darkness: black orchid, jonquil, white pear, white amber, gardenia, olibanum, champaca, sweet clove, tonka, oakmoss, and blue musk.

In bottle/imp: This smells sort of like cherry flowers. Breaking it down I get a very bright, almost juicy fruitiness melding seamlessly with florals and a light amount of oakmoss.

Immediately on skin: When I put this on, I’m still getting almost a cherry-like feel to it. I’m pretty sure it’s the orchid, champaca, pear, and gardenia all melding together. This is juicy and dark, but not overly sweet or floral. And most of all, the cherry feel I get doesn’t smell at all like cough syrup. After a few minutes the notes are breaking up. I get a lot of orchid out of this, but it's tamed by a touch of pear and champaca. The gardenia adds a nice richness. There's almost a slight underlying musky woodiness... or at least something a little dry to balance all of these other juicy notes.

After a little while: As time goes on, this gets a little drier-smelling overall. There’s a definite bit of cool musk now, which balances out the thickness of the orchid. This smells floral but thick, dark, and rich with a dry, musky overtone and an overall cool feel. It’s almost fruity, but not quite. Mostly, though, this is an orchid scent with champaca and gardenia adding a bit of wild floral-ness, and a touch of pear and oakmoss. I think the white amber and clove may be giving this the drier feel, but I’m not sure.

Overall Impressions: This is a very lovely scent in that dark, rich manner that Beth does so well! Primarily, this is an orchid scent on me, but it’s more complex with hints of other florals, pear, and musk and dry amber notes. It's not too floral, too cool, or too anything, really. It's very nicely balanced.

  7. DII (502)

In the bottle this one smells of thick, rich almond. Once I apply it on my skin however, the almond completely disappears and I'm left with a lot of fig. As it dries, a bit of woods come out, along with what I think is cardamom. Fig turns gritty on me, so this is a dry, earthy, spiced fig scent.

    DXLIV (544)

This smells like herbs and maybe some bergamot in the bottle. To my nose the combo smells almost like grape at first, but then my nose separates it into multiple notes. (My husband said it smells like fruit tarts) This is quite the morpher once it gets on my skin however. At first it has a cool, dry woody feeling. It smells very unisex and a little like cologne. It's very well blended. As it dries down, I get a lot of incense from this, and a bit of spice which I think is tamarind. Actually, on once this is dry it smells like the incense and spice from Diwali without any of the fruit or creaminess. I think it might have a touch of tobacco, but I'm really not sure.

  8. thank you! was just begining to get concerned as have had (apart from the money going out of the account and the paypal notification) no notification of my order so was getting a bit concerned as to whether it had been recieved...............

You're welcome :P I think international orders are generally sent out a little later than domestic orders, so I'm sure you have nothing to worry about.

  9. I ordered from the uk by paypal the other week(17th July). the paypal amount went through fine.

My problem is this........ because we have a joint bank account we can only have one paypal account (grrr!) and it's in my husbands name - therefore all paypal recepts and notices go to HIS email and not mine.............. I can't log into his account (nor do i want to usually!!). how do i get a c'n's??????

His email address would get them (the one on the paypal account). I don't think there's a way for you to get them, unless you add your email address to the account and make it the primary email address.

    Ta

would it be sent as the products were shipped?????

    x

Yeah... Click N Ship notices are usually sent when the item is being sent out, but there have been instances before when I have received one a couple of days after it was shipped, and sometimes even after I received the item.

  11. In bottle/imp: Very fresh, realistic rose with a bit of a clean note in the background.

Immediately on skin: The rose is this is very fresh smelling. It’s sweet and dewy, like you just pulled a rose out of the cooler at the florist and smelled it while it still had little water drops on its petals. The background note is sort of leatherish, but it’s clean, new, shiny leather… like a new leather whip just waiting to be unwound and slashed against bare flesh. This also has a bit of a clean dryer sheet type note with the leather.

After a little while: I still smell that fresh, dewy rose, but the leather in this blend is still that new, crackling leather with a little hint of fresh laundry. It’s a well-balanced scent and the rose really behaves well with the leather.

Overall Impressions: This is a sexual, kinky scent… but it still seems wearable. The leather in this isn’t heavy, masculine leather; it’s more new, smooth black leather that’s waiting to be broken in. This is on the sweeter side, so I’d say it has a feminine edge, but if you’re looking for a feminine leather blend and don’t mind rose, this may play nice with you.

  12. In bottle/imp: Roses, roses, and musk. Oh, and roses.

Immediately on skin: This is strong on the rose (sweet, fresh, and a little sharp) with a base of dry musk and warm amber blending in.

After a little while: The sharp note from the roses has toned down and what I get from this now is a very rose-filled scent with a base of soft musk. It’s a little dry, though the roses make it a little fresher.

Overall Impressions: This is what I was expecting from the description, but the amber seemed to have disappeared after a while. But overall this is a nice rose scent with a little musk, and perhaps on other people the amber will stick around, too.

  13. In bottle/imp: Dirt. Sweet, spicy dirt.

Immediately on skin: This smells strongly of dirt on me. Not a nasty smell, but like dirt nonetheless. There’s a hint of ginger, and a little bit of jasmine, but there’s something very earthy going on here.

After a few minutes: The notes blending together in this strike me as a dirt scent, but I can pick them out individually as well. The vanilla in this one is turning to plastic on me, like the vanilla in Dragon's Milk and Perilous Parlor. It's not an overly sweet scent, and everything seems balanced well.

Overall Impressions: I didn’t enjoy this scent… the ginger, jasmine and vanilla blending together just struck a bad chord with my chemistry and my nose. It’s an odd combo, but interesting, but it’s not for me. I’d be too afraid of smelling like I was just digging around in the garden if I wore this.

  14. In bottle/imp: Faint spiced rose.

Immediately on skin: All I get from this is very fresh rose with a little spice from the sandalwood.

After a little while: Hmm. No almond. But I do get some nice rose, neroli, and a bit of sandalwood. It’s pretty, sweet, warm rose.

Overall Impressions: Where’s the almond? The scent is nice, but I was looking forward to the almond in this. I’m a little disappointed, but it was a nice rose blend.

  15. In bottle/imp: Very complex. It’s herbal, dry, a touch sweet, and a little gritty.

Immediately on skin: This is dark and musky with a nice smooth sweetness. The body musk is mainly what I get from this, touched with the honey, tuberose cognac. The patchouli and geranium linger in the background.

After a little while: This is dark, musky, and gritty, but it also now has a cloying sweetness to it that I don’t particularly like. The skin musk, myrrh, and patchouli are thick and slightly spiced and musky, while the cognac and honey poured over don’t quite mix in.

Overall Impressions: A very dark blend… but complex. The skin musk matches nicely with the patchouli and myrrh, while the sweeter notes offset the other darker ones well. The honey and cognac doesn’t seem to quite blend as well as I would have hoped, but I have issues with some of the lab’s honey notes. Overall I think this is a nice, deep skin musk blend except for the honey.

  16. In bottle/imp: Jasmine, musk, and soft, wafting citrus.

Immediately on skin: The jasmine just jumps out at me mixed with a little resin, but following behind is light musk and a very soft, sweet citrus note. The rose is sprinkled over the whole blend, smoothing it all together.

After a little while: This is a very smooth, smoky floral scent of jasmine blended with rose and a hint of sweet neroli with a base of subtle musk. The resin note disappeared completely upon drydown.

Overall Impressions: This is a cooler, sweeter and very smooth jasmine blend. The other notes do well to tone it down, and the little hints of rose, citrus, and musk blend in nicely. It’s a nicely complex and well blended scent that changes subtly as I sniff it. A very evocative blend for sure.

  17. In bottle/imp: Almonds, black musk, and dry spices.

Immediately on skin: This is a sweet almond scent, but it has a very musky dry feel and some darker spices as well. The two sides of it kind of balance out, and when I’m not trying to pick apart the scent it smells sweet and spiced. There does seem to be something a little powdery about this though in the far background.

After a little while: This has softened and smoothed out, but it’s unfortunately gotten a bit powdery as well. The almond peeks out, soft and sweet, and the spices give this a nice base. I think that the problem note in this for me is the honey. I recently tried O and that honey went powdery on me, and this powder note smells the same.

Overall Impressions: This started out balanced well but not very well blended, and dried to something blended, but with an unfortunate amount of honey powder. I was hoping the honey would stay out of this one but it came out enough to ruin the blend for me.

  18. In bottle/imp: Dry lavender, musk, and a touch of rose.

Immediately on skin: This smells mostly of dry, unsweetened lavender. It’s so herbal that it’s almost peppery. The white musk blends in, and a touch of the rose. Underneath everything is the tiniest breath of sweet orchid.

After a little while: This has softened into something totally different. It’s so soft now: a mix of delicate white musk, smooth rose and a bit of orchid. It’s very faint and I don’t get any lavender from this any longer.

Overall Impressions: This is so different when it’s wet and when it’s sat on my skin for a little while. I think at first it’s way too dry and herbal, but when it dries it’s very faint. The drydown makes me think of a nice rose soap that has a couple of other faint notes put in, but the rose is still the most identifiable note. This is nice, but fleeting.

  19. In bottle/imp: Smoky and sweet smooth leather.

Immediately on skin: This is surprisingly nice on me… at least so far * knock on wood * This is a sweet, smoky, creamy and slightly boozy leather scent. The leather is not overly strong or masculine though. It’s a very thick scent though so I hope it lightens up a bit on my skin.

After a little while: This is a creamy, smoky, and subtly sweet tonka and leather scent on my skin. I’m very surprised at how well the tonka and leather notes blend together… it’s really nice. This blend doesn’t really have “levels” to it; everything seems to be mixing to create a very interesting, unique singular scent.

Overall Impressions: This was quite a surprise, but I really love it. It’s so naughty and sexy, and blended gorgeously. I’d say this could probably be a man’s scent as well as a woman since the leather strikes me as more masculine, but the sweetness is a little playful to me. I definitely love this scent… I just hope it’s one that’ll get some wear!

  20. In bottle/imp: Faint cocoa powder (?) and honey.

Immediately on skin: I will start this review off by saying that I’ve learned that the lab’s mainly honey blends don’t work on me and some of the lab’s vanilla turns to plastic on my skin. That said, this is a smooth but powdery plastic scent on me with some interesting sweet warmth. This smells of honey powder over plastic doll heads (you know… the ones that are supposed to smell of vanilla or something?) and an undertone of pretty ok amber. So not good right now…

After a little while: Ew. Ew. Ew. This is so powdery and plastic-y on my skin. It has a very cool, caked vanilla baby powder scent that I can’t get over. Yuck.

Overall Impressions: This is my second time trying O, and it’s still a disaster on me. It goes powdery and turns to plastic on my skin. Not for me.

  21. In bottle/imp: Lightly, delicately floral with dry (but not bitter) herbs and wafting resins.

Immediately on skin: This is a lightly spicy sandalwood scent with soft resins and an airy, light touch of iris. It has a note that is making it feel a little sharp, but overall the blend is smooth and well blended. It’s almost musky, but I think that’s just the sandalwood, which is very deep in this blend.

After a little while: The iris in this has bloomed on my skin, and the olibanum has come out a bit more. This is a resinous iris scent with a nice dose of sandalwood. It’s lightly fresh and floral, resinous, and a bit warm and spicy all at the same time. The herbs are just lightly there, a breath of them like the description says.

Overall Impressions: This is a very pretty scent. The iris really freshens up this blend of frankincense, sandalwood, and myrrh with the trailing scent of light herbs. This isn’t overly sweet or heavy, and manages to be warm and floral at the same time.

  22. In bottle/imp: Lime! And some smoky florals in the background.

Immediately on skin: This is a very complex mix of lime and the floral notes in the description. The lime is more of note I feel than one I smell now that this is on my skin, but it gives the whole blend a brighter feel. Mostly this consists of smoky jasmine, lotus, and tuberose. The jasmine is heavy, but the lotus and tuberose make it a little sweeter. The lime is a very tart note.

After a little while: The lotus in this has faded and what I’m left with is a surprisingly pretty (the lab’s jasmine is usually very heavy and smoky on me) blend of jasmine, tuberose, and a nice dose of lime giving this a much fresher feel. It’s not overly sweet, but it is a fresher floral scent.

Overall Impressions: The jasmine in this is the heaviest note, but the distinctive scents of the tuberose and lotus try their best to blend in as well. The lotus seems to fade after a while, but the resulting jasmine and tuberose scent with the lime blended over it seems quite pretty and wearable. Jasmine isn’t really a “me” note, but if you like it and are looking for something a bit fresher but still floral, I’d suggest trying this one.

  23. Golden amber, blood orange, ambergris, lilac, frankincense, and agarwood.

In bottle/imp: Orangey, clean and herbal, with a salty kick from the ambergris.

Immediately on skin: This isn’t really a warm amber scent… It’s more like salty and slightly creamy ambergris with the powderiness of the amber and a hint of flowery lilac. There’s a hint of resin too, but it’s blended well into the other notes.

After a little while: The golden amber seems to be coming out a bit more now and is taking control of the blend from the ambergris, though that saltiness is still evident. However, this has more of a warm, powdery amber feel now with the ambergris blending into that a bit. There’s a nice hint of lilac giving this a slightly cooler undertone, and the frankincense adding almost a richness to the background of the scent. But this is definitely a more powdery scent.

Overall Impressions: This scent isn’t anything fabulous on me, unfortunately. I really love the golden amber note, but it stays quiet for perhaps the first 20 minutes or so. And I’m also not a big fan of ambergris and that comes out quite a bit in this blend. I’d imagine this will be fabulous on the right person though, and I have to admit that the combination of golden amber and ambergris is really interesting.
