    Velvet Clown

Rum-soaked cotton candy, boot-stomped licorice whips and circus peanuts, scorched marshmallows, a dribble of corn whiskey, cigar smoke, and greasepaint. This is just vile. It is super sweet but there's a very sour smell in the background. It gets very peppery and then I smell grease, and this happens all the while that super sweet rot-your-teeth candy dances about. And then, there's tobacco. The combination of notes is freaking me out just a bit. I'm expecting someone to whisper "We all float down here."

    Motley

What a neat scent! It scared me at first because it was extremely tart. It quickly morphed to a sweet incense. Very nice.

    Coxcomb

WHOA. On application, this is manly men's cologne. I'm a lumberjack and I'm OK... When it dries down, it keeps the masculine edge but the fruit comes out in the aftersniff. I do like this, but I might attempt to spill some on some of my favorite guys and see how they like it.

    Velvet Tiki

This blend is going to be another "Nope" scent for me. It starts out as a blast of pineapple and quickly fades to something strangely powdery and floral. I had such high hopes too because of the initial zing. Oh well... on to the next Velvet...

    Velvet Cthulhu

What a wonderful scent. I thought I detected sweet frankincense and nothing else. Then suddenly I got a little earth from the pu-erh. Next I smelled mint. Now, it's dried to lime and a touch of sage. It is fresh and lovely. It goes through a definite masculine phase but I think I can wear it nicely. ETA: I am now picking up... pineapple?? And Bay rum??? I think I'm in love.

    Velvet Nudie

I have to agree with the posters who got soap. That's all the Nudie was to me too. It faded quickly as well.

    Screaming Mandragora

Starts out as coconut sprinkled with wood shavings and quickly dries to what reminds me of Play Doh. Blecch.

    Dragon's Bone

This is sweet initially but dries down with a touch of sandalwood in the background. Nicely balanced.

    Epitaph

This is a soft floral. Not overly sweet or cloying. Not pungent or too green. Just a nice basic unobtrusively pleasant floral.

    The Ecstasy of True Love

OMG this is just gorgeous!! Carnation is riding on top of a beautiful resinous wave. I think I have a new favorite.

    Lilith

I rather expected Lilith to be a bit more sinister. She is all sweet rose, reminiscent of Bess. I get no wine at all.

    Ace of Pentacles

This scent is earth. Dirt and pine trees and moss. It has a perverse sweetness, near cloying.

    Dark Chocolate and Pepper-Smoked Caramel

Smoked pepper is the strongman here. The chocolate and caramel are being held hostage in another room. Terrible waste of good chocolate...

    Yorick

Freshly turned earth- rich and loamy. That's it.

    Drink Me

Pineapple upside down cake is what I get. The pineapple is very strong and dominates the scent.

    Brisingamen

Weirdly, I detect something almost medicinally menthol-like on application. I definitely get myrtle (or some kind of green/wood something) and the carnation is on the outer edge. It's nice but it is very different from any other scent I've tried.

    Black Hellebore

Soft powdery floral. A very benign scent. Pleasant and unassuming.

    Sarah

No ozone. No wolf. Just musk. And I like it that way.

    Tezcatlipoca

Yes indeed, this one morphs up purty. Starts out as cocoa and evolves to a soft but potent blend of patchouli and incense. Neither overpowers the other and the end result is lovely. I think that this might become a favorite. Thank BOB it's GC.

    Come to Me

I have 2 imps of this blend. One is clear and the other is slightly yellow. One smells like jasmine. The other, like soap and herbs. I layered them. Together, they smelled like jasmine after a rain. Pretty.

    Chaos Theory V: Recursive Self-Similarity v2

CXX My imp contains oil that is a dark color, almost an olive green. I have no idea what is in the vial but it is NASTY. Sour, like something spoiled. And what makes it worse is that the O (one of my favorite scents) wafts in and out of the sourness.

    Athens

Most definitely honey and most definitely wine. When it dries, it takes on a weird kind of plastic/olive juice combo scent. Bleccch.

    The Festival of Anuket

Interesting scent. I definitely get the "metallic" tang that everyone mentions. It makes an otherwise benign aquatic floral fragrance a bit sharp. And this one is sticking to me. I still smell it as strongly on my wrist as I did when I first applied it. Not bad but nothing I will cry over once my decant is empty.

    Pain

I grabbed a random imp this morning and slathered some on without doing a sniff test first. After a second I started looking around to see where on my person I had spilled the minty fresh mouthwash. This blend is in your face MINT. Minty pain? I don't think I'd go quite THAT far but it definitely made my head snap back for a second. However, I was awake and no longer needed coffee. So that's a plus. Hours later, I smell lavender with the tiniest bit of mint clinging for dear life. And it helped with a headache that was threatening to come on. If I can get past feeling like I washed my hair with Scope instead of shampoo, I actually kind of like this one. Sort of. Maybe. A little.
