    Dancing Koi

Wet on my skin, it reminds me of Hand of Glory, so I think I'm mostly smelling the sandalwood and leather, but just a bit sweeter. A couple of hours in, the incense notes take over and it's a dry, sweet incense, which I don't mind. I like the opening stages a bit better, but I can see the scent growing on me overall. I was relieved that the toasted sandalwood did not have a burnt smell and that I hardly detected any clove at all. I usually really amp clove. Overall, Dancing Koi is a warm, dry, and sweet scent on my skin. It's comforting and I can see myself wearing it on a gloomy day.

    Cathode

I didn't like this one at first, but it's been slowly growing on me. Wet, it smells minty and aquatic and a bit too much like bathroom cleaner. As it dries down, the mint fades into the background of ambergris and moss. It's a soft green aquatic that stays on the skin. Very subtle and really pretty nice.

    Blood

Blood seems very dense, sweet and powerful. All of that fits the concept, but it's way too much for me as a perfume. Each note is a strong one. The dragon's blood combines with the cherry to make the scent very red, the myrrh makes it just a little smoky and bitter and then the clove really jumps out. Unfortunately, it verges upon giving me a headache. I can see how it would really work for the right person, though.

    Black Forest

Wet, I'm almost afraid this will give me a headache. It seems very sharp at first. Once I put it on, though, all the notes blend together really well. It ends up a cool, sweet, woodsy and sort of salty pine. It's strangely addictive and I always end up sneaking sniffs of my wrists when I'm wearing it. This one stands out in my collection: nothing else seems quite like it to me.

    Bewitched

It seems pretty much as advertised- blackberry tea with a bit of sage. I do think the dark musk adds a bit more, but I always love that note. It's nice and fresh without being overly sweet. I only wish it didn't disappear so quickly on my skin. It's really nice while it lasts.

    Anne Bonny

This starts out really strong and a bit sharp- almost like cedar. Once it hits my skin, it starts to smell more like incense. After it dries down completely, it gets much softer and becomes a warm frankincense and sandalwood blend. I like it pretty well and find it rather soothing when I need a strong, warm scent.

    Lust

Uncontrollable passion and insatiable sexual desire: red musk, patchouli, ylang ylang and myrrh. In the imp, I'm a little scared of it. Mostly, I smell the ylang ylang. Once it hits my skin, though, the myrrh becomes prominent, which is great. I love myrrh! As it dries, the red musk comes out more, which is even better. I can't pick out as much of the patchouli, but I never can. My skin seems to absorb it. The ylang ylang sweetens it up a bit, but it's not even close to cloying or overly floral. Overall, it's red musk blended with a sweet myrrh, and it lasts all day. This is definitely one of my favorites. Balanced, feminine and unique.

    Coyote

This was the first BPAL scent I tried, and it made a great impression! At first, the amber is the dominant note and it does seem perfumey. Before too long, though, the musk gets stronger and levels the scent out. Once it dries, it's a sweetened musk and I think I can detect the dry grasses coming through. It's a soft and warm scent, very comforting. Also, for a lighter scent, it lasts surprisingly long on me, about 6-7 hours. This has remained one of my favorites.
