Smells like the Christmas tree yards when still in the imp -- fir and holly on a cool breeze. But the flowers peek through on the drydown, and for a few minutes it's fantastic, fresh and sweet and quiet. Then the lily comes through and it's all over. After a complete drying, this is sadly just another generic floral on me. It's also incredibly faint...

I loved, loved, loved Lady MacBeth the first time I tried it on. And the second. And now... I think I may have overexposed myself, because the berries now smell fermented to me and the entire blend sits heavy and sour on my wrist. It was a really pretty autumn scent, surprisingly feminine while carrying an aura of power, but now it smells sullen and evil. Too much wine, not enough thyme. So... I'd recommend it, but don't overdo application (it's strong!). I want my first Lady MacBeth back!

Regan, when wet, smells like one of those old-lady shops filled with porcelain dolls, taxidermied kittens, and awful cross-stich tapestries depicting a Victorian little girl hugging the American flag. Dry, it turns to sticky sugar and rotting flowers; the vanilla has very little subtlety. I can see wearing this on the beach, if I'm walking in the breeze and drinking cream soda; otherwise, the sweetness is just too much. Strong throw, too, and it lasts foreeever.

Macchu Picchu starts off as unripe bananas and juniper on me, which isn't anything I'd expect from the note description.... on the other hand, it's /wonderful/, faintly bitter and entirely fresh. To be honest, I wish it stayed that way, because the florals that come through once dry just aren't as original or interesting. It's a good scent, and the amber (thankfully) stays in the background, but it does get very sweet before fading away. I'm keeping it anyway, because the green notes definitely summon that "high, desolate mountain ruins" feeling.

This was a very soft, deep floral in the imp -- I couldn't pick apart any of the notes. Wet, it was much the same. But now that it's dried, I just smell rose, rose, rose. It's a dusty rose, too, and flat. I ordered this purely because of the plumeria, a note I can't get enough of --- but I can't smell it at all in this. Mostly it just smells perfume-y, with a rubbing alcohol base. I don't think I can wear this at all, sadly, because I have smell-linked synesthesia and the rose is giving me an itchy yellow headache. The same thing happened with Viola, so it looks like I'll have to stay away from anything with rose. I wish the pear and plumeria came out more... EDIT, Sept. 3, 2007: Oh my goodness. I came back to this three months later, and /now/ I smell the pear. The rose is still there, but it's softer and better behaved, and the pear is wet and juicy. If I inhale too deeply at my wrist, I still get the rose headache, but from a foot or so away, the wafts are just lovely. Not too much throw, and I can maybe even smell the plumeria back there!

This was a very old-lady perfume on me... which is sad, since this is only my second scent and I was hoping to be happily surprised. Instead I ended up with a faint lilac-tea rose-powder combination which smelled like a dusty department store counter or foam handsoap. It faded very quickly on me, too. I'm disappointed, since Viola is one of my favorite Shakespearean characters. But this scent just doesn't work for me, and frankly I can't imagine it on her either.
