In the bottle: Very fresh and green, with a faint background spiciness. Wet: Very light and green, almost coriander-ish in the background. Surprisingly long throw for such a light smell. Later: Green and herbal; the coriander-like scent has become stronger. Very nice, but I don't know if it is a bottle purchase – 7/10.

In the bottle: Sweet, and light, zesty and summery. Quite faint, but very nice. Wet: Vanilla is warming up. This has a lovely, delicate sweetness. Later: A lovely, light vanilla floral. Sweet and summery. 8/10; makes a lovely change to the usual heavy spices and foody scents I normally favour, and very summery.
-
In the bottle: Very sweet berries, almost cloying. Wet: Rich red berries, still very sweet. Long throw, but a bit more like a bath product than a perfume at the moment. Later: The sweetness has faded away, leaving a lovely fruit, almost crisp. 7/10; I'll keep the imp, but I don't think I'll buy a bottle.

In the bottle: Heavy and incensey. Wet: Incensey with a woody background note, faint soapiness. Is warming up nicely. Later: Gorgeous, mellow, incencey and spiced. 8/10, and an addition to the bottle list.

In the bottle: Golden coconut Wet: Coconutty - the iris adds a talcy (though not in a bad way) dusky background. Later: Nice - sort of like a sweet coconut milk, though sometimes it verges on the slightly overblown sweet floral. I like it, but possibly not enough to get a bottle. I can imagine it might be good on hot summer days, of which there are not many at the moment; 7/10. Very reminiscent of Lush I Should Coco shower oil; happy memories.

Not the most complimentary of reviews initially - sorry if my honesty offends! In the bottle: Smells of Wee. Wet: Wee, flowers and an acidic sharpness. Gardenia + Gladiola + me = bad. Later: A long time later this is actually not too bad - the amber & patchouli have warmed up, giving this a deepness, and the florals have gone pleasantly powdery. Not a big bottle, but I may keep the imp; 6/10.

In the bottle: Very warm and spicy Wet: Spicy and slightly sweet Later: Nice wear length, warm spiciness with a sweet, fruity background; 8/10.

In the bottle: Warm, orangey and faintly floral. Very nice. Wet: The orange warms up, with a background spiciness. Nice and warm. Later: Now the amber comes out to play. Gorgeous, slightly spicy, slightly fruity, and very well blended; 8/10.
-
In the bottle: Fruity apple. Wet: Fruit with a floral background. Later: Where Aizen-Myoo was a wooden scented peach, this is a wooden scented apple; Perfectly passable, but more a room scent than a perfume, on me; 6/10.
-
In the bottle: Gorgeous, rich and cakey, with a warm vanilla Wet: Has the same feel as my beloved Enraged Groundhog Musk. Quite thick and heavy, lovely. Later: Cake. Cake cake cake, with a nice depth. Bottle list contender; 8/10

In the bottle: Smells like marzipan. Don't really know where I'm getting that from. Wet: Marzipan, with a dark dusky background. Later: This has turned into Turkish Delight. A perfectly pleasant smell, but not something that I necessarily want to smell like; 6/10.

In the bottle: Sweet & Sherbety Wet: Sherbety - like refreshers. Sneezy. Fizzy & sweet. Later: Actually, quite nice - very Refresher-like, though I'm not sure I want to actually smell like this! More like a bath bomb than a perfume, to me. 6/10.

Hi All, I'm vegan, and I know the FAQ says the following on vegan oils: I'm vegan. Do your perfumes contain any animal-based products? With the exception of our honey products, BPAL perfumes are vegan. Our 'civet' and 'ambergris' are bouquets, and thus, are composite scents created from plant-derived perfume oils combined to best aproximate the scent. Black Phoenix is entirely cruelty-free, as our four dogs, many fish, and resident cat will attest. All perfumes are tested on Elizabeth. With that in mind, I have been through the GC, and created this list of blends which have honey listed as a note. However, I can only do this for those scents where notes are listed, so, for example, I can't put Voodoo blends on the list as notes are not listed. I was wondering if anyone has ever mailed the lab about a specific blend, and recieved a definitive answer either way about whether the blend contains honey. This will enable me to add to the list, and hopefully have a useful, up to date resource for vegan BPAL-ers. Thanks for your help! ETA - Mods - I searched the Chatter & Recommendations for threads specifically about vegan oils & couldn't find one - please feel free to move/merge me if needed!

In the bottle: Leather, very strongly leather. Wet: The leather has changed into a sort of liquorice scent, with a background of aniseed. Later: Slightly spicier, but still aniseed liquorice. Nice enough, but not for me*. Good throw though. *I'm vegan and this was my attempt to see if I'd like a scent listed as being leathery. I guess not.

In the bottle: Sweet, but not cloying, with something in the background. Wet: The sweetness has faded and the 'something else' has come out. Reading the description, possibly a faint mix of vanilla, lemon rind & lilacs? Very faint, almost like it has instantly been eaten up by my skin. Later: Very faint lemon rind & cologne - nose-pressed-to-wrist-faint. Nice, but needs another go to see if the throw/wear length is better before I decide if I'm keeping. Later - I keep getting wafts of this through the evening, and it is gorgeous, but still faint. Currently a 6/10, with potential to improve on second testing!

In the bottle: Musty and a bit woody. Wet: Sandalwoody with something sharp, possibly cedar to my uneducated nose, behind it. Later: Very faint sandalwood with a sharp background. Would be nice if I could smell it further away than having my nose pressed on my wrist. Not a swapper yet - I'll give it a go another day; I guess I like stuff with a longer throw. Sort of a 6/10.

In the bottle: Honeyed ginger, like lovely cakes. Delicious, and wonderful - I'm in love already. For me this is extra gorgeous because, although not strong, the honeysuckle is noticeable, and as a vegan I don't get to enjoy honey scents often. Wet: The spices are warming up, adding to the warmth of the ginger, with the honeysuckle sweetness fading back a little. Gorgeous! Later: The musk has come out now, sweetened a little by the honeysuckle. Absolutely wonderful and a big bottle for sure. ETA - very worth a 9/10.

In the bottle: Warm and cinnamony. Wet: Cinnamon with a spiky pepper background, faint clove. Later: Fairly true to the wet scent, with the clove warming up. Very nice. My boyfriend likes. Now to be conservative with it, as I have a partial bottle which I picked up for $10 on Ebay.
-
In the bottle: Woody & mossy, a bit sharp. Wet: Pine disinfectant, quickly warming up to (sandal) wood with an underlying sweetness. Good throw. The sandalwood is especially noticeable. Later: Sandalwood with pine, not sweet. Very Christmas tree, quite similar to Velvet & Strangler Fig. Nice, but not a love, so a swapper - 6/10.
-
In the bottle: Very patchouli; like incense sale day in a goth shop. I quite like incense, but I can't smell the orange blossom or ginger at all. Wet: More patchouli, slightly warm background; could be the ginger. Later: Patchouli. I think it's safe to say that I amp Patchouli – 6/10.

In the bottle: Citrus & floral. Wet: Citrus & uh oh toilet rim block. A minute or two later still loo block. Going to stop sniffing my wrist now; give it time to warm up. Later: Has faded utterly so it can only be smelled if my nose is against my wrist. Not much throw, no wear length on me. Pleasant floral up very close, later talcy. Not my thing, unfortunately, so a 4/10.

In the bottle: A bit floral, with a citrus background. Wet: Fresh & fruity. Later: Zesty with a darker background - quite nice. No idea if it made me have a good day or not! - 7/10

Monster Bait: Ventriloquist Dummy

In the bottle: Sweet, with a warm spicy background. Wet: Instantly a long throw. Gorgeous woodiness up close, spicy at long range, and sweet too. Later: Massive throw. Now very burnt, but in a good way; both burnt sugar and woods, with noticeable patchouli. I love this one all the way through, but my boyfriend only really likes it at the very end. 8/10. -
In the bottle: Dark, sweet, almost caramel, a background greenness Wet: The sweetness has warmed up to a berriness; nice. Having read the notes this is resolving itself as peach, and a minute or two later that muskiness is coming out. Later: Peach has really warmed up - quite clear, but still sweet. The amber works wonderfully in the background. Have also waved this one at the boyfriend, and he greatly approved - 8/10 & one for the bottle list.

In the bottle: Refreshing; probably citrus. Wet: Citrussy with a greenish background. Later: Zesty and clear. Now very faint. Currently a 6/10, as I couldn't smell it, but I know that hen my friend wore it, it disappeared on her, and she was very popular with the boys at Tai Chi that night... one to test again when the boyfriend is round
