An olfactory serenede. A somber, contemplative scent -- dreamy and subdued. Deepest violet touched with lilac and tuberose. I quite like this one but it was a bit light and flowery for me. It smells mainly of a quite powdery violet. It doesn't last long at all and after a few hours I can barely smell it any more. It's a really "pretty" scent but it's too light and doesn't last long enough for me. I will try it again and put more on this time but I doubt I will buy a bottle PLEASE NOTE: This review topic is for the BPAL catalog scent named Nocturne. If you're looking for the Twilight Alchemy Lab oil of the same name, those reviews are here. --Shollin

The scents of the blossoms of darkness, condensed into one perfume. Features a rose base, softened with lilac and wisteria. I'm not so keen on this on, which is a shame as I rally wanted to like it. It smells like a very strong "old ladyish" floral perfume in the bottle and doesn't really change when you put it on. It also fades really fast. I really like rose so thought I would love this, but I can't really smell any rose at all - just a general floral smell.

Devilish temptation, as sweet as sin: blood orange, neroli, and raspberry. I love this! At first I could smell all the different fruits but now it just has a general sweet smell. I d like this one but it is very sweet and fruity so you have to be in the mood for it. I don't think I would wear it all the time but it is a real "cheer you up" scent, which is great when I have this cold!

And so sepulchered in such pomp dost lie That kings for such a tomb would wish to die. -- Milton Austere, majestic, and coldly beautiful. The scent of funereal blooms laid gently on cold marble. Calla lilies wrapped in rose and gladiola with the barest touch of sweetgrass and juniper. This was one given to be free my Elizabeth so I didn't choose it and to be honest it's not really me. The main smell is of lillies, but like all the other floral scents I have tried, it fades really fast and doesn't smell particularly special. I do think she has captured that "cold marble" feeling very well though. This is a definitely a cold scent, if that makes sense!

I love this! It's kind of cold and fruity at the same time. To me it smells like a cross between Queen of Diamonds and Midwinter's Eve. It has the cold, sharp, clear bright feeling of Queen of Diamonds, but the sweet berry scent of Midwinter's Eve. I love this as I find Queen of Diamonds a tad too chilly, and Midwinter's Eve a tad too sweet. This is the ideal balance between the two.

This one smells lovely - very very fruity! It's a bit too strong for me though and a bit too child-like. I can imagine a little girl liking this a lot. It also turns quite plasticy on me after a while. I already own a bottle of Akuma which I prefer cos it's a bit more tart. This is very similar but a bit overly sweet for me.

This one is lovely! It varies between an almond-floral smell and a lovely soapy smell. I keep getting wafts of both. It's strong too and lasts all day. It's a real shame that this has been discontinued as I think I definitely would have bought a full bottle otherwise.

Nature spirits and protectors of the world's groves and forests that appear as breathtakingly beautiful women. Hamadryads are born into a tree that serves as both a home and an anchor for the creature's soul. They are sometimes tricksters, sometimes seducers, sometimes helpful and benign, but they are always fierce and furious protectors of the natural world. Seven dry woods with mossy lichen and a gentle breeze of forest flowers. I got this as a freebie and I'm glad I did as I would never have chosen it based on it's description as I don't like "woody" scents. It smells nothing like its description though and is actally a sweet aqautic floral with a hint of root beer!! I really like this one but unfortunately I'm allergic to it. It made my skin go bright red and itchy! Shame as I maybe would have bought a bottle of this.

Mmmm.....lovely! A very heady floral/fruity scent. Very heavy - kind of reminds me of purple velvet! It really reminds me of Queen Mab, which I already have a bottle of so I won't be buying this but if I didn't I'm sure I would be getting a big bottle.

This is the most "commercial-smelling" of all the BPAl oils I've tried, and I don't mean that as a bad thing in this instance It kind of reminds me of CK One, not in the way it smells, but in the idea of it - a kind of unisex, clean, fresh smell. The thing it reminds me most of is these "pure" shower gels and shampoos you get that are completelyt clear supposed to have nothing in them and be suitable for sensitive skin etc. I have no idea what's in this but to me it smells very ozonic with no florals at all. I think this would be a great perfume in the summer but it doesn't suit the damp gloomy weather we have in London right now!

This one smells a lot lighter on than it does in the bottle. In the bottle it smelled quite masculine but on it dries to a soapy, light rose scent that I can really smell the salt over. I think this is a really interesting scent but not sure if I like it enough to buy a 5ml. It might be better as a summer scent as it's so light and soapy (not meant as a bad thing).

This one is quite nice but very sweet and fruity - not that dissimilar to Jester. I find it's name confusing as it's certainly not a very "angry" scent in my opinion. Nice, but not nice enough for me to want a 5ml.

This one keeps changing on me! I still can't figure it out. In the bottle it smells very smokey and when you first put it on it smells the same way. Then after a really short time it changes and "thins out" a lot and that's when I get the autumn chill scent. It's like a floral scent on a very cold wind. Then after another hour or so it warms up again and it has stayed like that on me - a kind of smokey, incense floral smell. I'm really glad I bought this as it's not at all the sort of scent I would normally wear but I'm intrigued by how changeable and individual it is.

Phew - I'm so gald it's not just me! I got this as a freebie and every time I sniff it I think "cat piss"! I haven't even dared try it on my skin! I thought I must have received a vial that had gone off or something but now I know I'm not alone. No wonder it's been discontinued! This is one for my giveaway list

I think Beth must be a mind reader as when I was putting together my sample set I couldn't decide between this and Hymn. I chose Hymn, but then Beth included this as a freebie The first thing that I thought when I tried this is that it smells exactly like Old Venice, only slightly lighter and more lemony. Now, several hours later it still smells like that! I already own a bottle of Old Venice so won't be buying this, but if you like Old Venice but find it a bit too heavy, this would probably work for you. Actually, I must say that this is so similar to Old Venice that I'm quite surprised Elizabeth formulated it. I can really hardly tell the difference.

Seems like I'm the voice of dissent here but I wasn't that keen on this one I love rose scents and when I read Elizabeth's description I had to try it - it sounded perfect, but I think the problem is that I love really strong rose scents with real depth to them (Rose Red is my favourite BPAL rose scent) and this one, though pretty, is incredibly light. To me is smells like a sharp, faint rose water which is nice enough, but not amazing. I think it you like light, tea rose kind of scents you will love this but if you're more into heavy rose scents like Harlot and Blood Rose then it probably won't be your kind of thing.

This is not what I expected at all. I thought it would be a very "Victorian" floral scent - really light. But it's actually a heavy sweet scent. The rose and violet are really well blended but for me the violet is the dominant scent. I love rose perfumes which is why i wanted to try this but the violet is so dominant I can't make my mind up about it. At first I thought it was way too sickly but then it kind of grew on me. It really lasts too - this is one you can still smell the next day. I think I'll have to give this one another try before I can make my mind up. I think I either love it or hate it!

I am a huge rose fan and am always ordering imps that contain rose, but with this all I can smell is lily of the valley, and lots of it! Floral BPAL scents usually fade really quickly on me but this one lasted ages and was so strong it gave me a headache! Unfortunately all I can smell is the lily of the valley and the "incense" smells don't develop on me at all which is a shame as they are the reason I chose this scent. Oh well, it's not awful, it's just not what I thought it would be. I'll use up the imp but won't be buying a bottle.

Unfortunately all I can smell is marzipan. I was hoping for something sweeter and more complex but it smells like marzipan in the bottle and doesn't change at all on me when I put it on. It also fades really quickly, which surprised me as it does smell quite strong. For those who are familiar with Lush's Snowcake, it smells very similar but sweeter (and not quite as nice in my opinion).

I love this oil!! Lady Macbeth is one of my favourite BPAL oils but where Lady Macbeth is kind of tangy and sharp, this is sweet and syrupy. I can mainly smell the blackcurrant and wine, and the amaretto is lingering underneath. This oil lasts ages and me and just smells so yummy. Definitely one to get a bottle of!

I am a huge fan of rose scents and this is the latest in a long line of BPAl rose scents that I have tried. While I do think the rose smells gorgeous, I can't smell the cinnamon at all. I think Harlot smells very similar to Old London, which is my favourite BPAL scent, but Old London has more staying power. As I already have a bottle of Old London, there doesn't seem much point in buying a bottle of this, but it is lovely.

This one is absolutely gorgeous! My favourite so far!! Smells quite sweet and medicinal at the same time. It also lasts a really long time. Didn't fade much all day. Another one I will be buying a bottle of.
-
I like this one! Again, it smells quite strong and sweet - almost like marzipan! The smell lasts quite a long time and doesn't really change throughout the day. There's a good chance I may get a full bottle of this.

This one has the same kind of sweet smell that Blood Rose and Lady Macbeth both have, but is much less sweet over all. I really love this one as it is similar to Lady Macbeth, but not quite as heavy. It does have the fruity smell of blackberries but the sage and green tea balance it out to be slightly woody and herbal. I can't really smell the musk at all. This is another one I will be buying a bottle of I think!

Unfortunately, like Catiebloo, I was allergic this one! The minute I put it on my neck went bright red and felt like it was burning so I had to wash it off straight away! The smell was nice though. A sort of spicey honeysuckle with a hint of flowers that are over-ripe. The strongest smell was definitely the honeysuckle.
