In the Imp : Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. Omg it smells like spun sugar. Don't get me wrong - I *love* spun sugar scents but this wasn't what I was expecting at all. So far this scent seems a lot brighter than the dark, "languid" scent I was anticipating. Lets see how this goes shall we? Wet : Dear god I think they got these mixed up! This is Alice! Only it's an Alice that's fighting her way tooth and nail to make herself be known and isn't fading away like the real one did on me. Dry Down : I put this on right before walking to the grocery store and one it had time to dry a bit I kept getting whiffs here and there of its incredibly sugary smell. It's an ambery sort of sugar that's not thick or heavy but rich and pure. Some Time Later : My grandmother came in to hive me a few hangers when I was putting up the laundry and said that the new perfume "smelled like sweat" and was absolutely revolting when she smelled my wrists. This kind of blew me away as to me the sugar has settled into a more sweet after the incense stick has burned away kind of warm, almost smokey smell. I guess this is just my body chemistry going awry? I should mention that this also has an incredible staying power as I put this on hours and hours ago and it's stayed through thick and thin through out the day. Over all : Black Phoenix was kind of a disappointment. I was expecting something very dark and lovely and instead I got something that apparently smells salty and smokey in a bad way. I'll be keeping my imp anyway I think because honestly I really do like sugary scents from time to time and this one fulfills all my requirements and then some although I think I'll turn to calling it Alice's Evil Twin since the resemblance is uncanny. It just looks like I won't be able to wear it around others - but then again I'm sure we all have a scent like that by now in out collection right?

imp : Very bright and wet. I agree with everyone who's related this to sunshine and dew. wet : Nothing's changed - this scent has managed to keep its scent from imp to skin remarkably well. dry : This is like going out in the early morning to a flower field when everything's still wet and fresh and watching the sun shine through the dew, turning it sweet and golden. I know that might sound strange but that's exactly how this smells. There's absolutely no hidden dark notes lurking beneath this scent - just pure golden notes that are incredibly light weight. over all : Very nice and light this would be an excellent morning scent for when I just get up.

When I was going through my imps today I found that this one had cracked open and took it as a sign to go ahead and try it out despite my misgivings. imp : Hm, very strange. There's definitely a wine scent in there but its an aged wine. I hope it will be enough to do proper battle with the dragon's blood resin because I can already smell that as well creeping out of the imp. wet : Uh oh. *sniff* No dragons blood no! My skin is just amping this note up like crazy. Why did I have to go and try this scent knowing how much I dislike dragon's blood? dry : Just really guh on me. I was hoping the wine and rose notes which usually love me would be enough to contend with the resin but in the end they weren't. This is making me queasy.

imp : Clove? Check. Apricot? Double check. wet : Spicy and foody all at once. This doesn't smell so much like a tea tart to me as it does a very old fashioned perfume blend. This is exactly the way a lot of those shops that sell historical brick a brack at places like Montecello or Willamsberg smell like. dry : Oh this is like taking a ride in my time machine back to the days of Lewis Carol. This more than anything else I've tried from the lab has that old time Victorian feel to it. I remember when I was in the third grade for history class we experimented with preserving fruit via cloves and this smells exactly the same way. I remembered that I liked hanging those bits of fruit in my closet when I still had them to give my clothes this exact aroma so I want to try using this one as a room spray.

imp : Spicy! If this is bubblegum then its Big Red or something similar. wet : Still spicy Big Red, there's still defiantly a very sticky sweet smell of pure bubblegum in there so perhaps the spice is actually the cherry lollipops. dry : The spice has finally mellowed out a bit and now the candy has come through to play with the bubblegum. I thought perhaps this would be just a generic sweet blend but I can actually pin point the individual sweet candy scents - here's the bubblegum and there's the cherry and then here's the orange. I can totally see a little girl in my minds eye smearing some sort of little girl perfume that generally comes with Barbie or something similar over her already sticky sweet scent. over all : This truly is a little girl scent - one trying to be grown up at that. On a teenager I could see this being pretty sexy in a teasing manner. There's nothing sharp or having a polished seductiveness about it here - this is purely sweet and flirtatious. A great summer date blend.

in the imp : I should say that when I got my imp some of another imp had spilled a bit of its contents on to Hampton's label so I can't really give an accurate description of what I smelt. At the time it smelt like men's cologne. wet : Girl's night in at my friend's house making cosmos! Oh this is bringing all sorts of good happy memories to my mind - sharing drinks, laughing about events, watching movies. I was afraid that this was going to be a very manly scent but it truly is gender neutral and since I do most of my drinking with my girlfriends this is quickly becoming more and more of a feminine scent in my mind. dry : I can see myself wearing this to the beach - it would make a great ocean side scent. I don't know how she's done it but this is a perfect cosmo in a bottle - perhaps one that's had a little flavor added into it because the alcoholic notes aren't that strong which is something of a real life - I have to admit I was worried about walking around smelling of alcohol but this really could be an anytime scent. over all : what a wonderful scent - not exactly big bottle on me but I'll be treasuring this imp, I want to try wearing it out to my next beach adventure or night on the town, I have a sneaking suspicion this will become my perfect party scent.

imp : a very nice floral perfume, nothing more nothing less. wet : this smells exactly the way I thought perfume should smell like when I was a little girl - flowery without being overly sweet. If I close my eyes I can see all of my mother's perfume bottles lined up on the bathroom counter. Pure jasmine and a bit of the verbina. dry : something strange has started to come out - it smells like a strange mix of greenery and almost decay, I guess this is the honeysuckle. And talk about throw! I can't smell a drop of it but my friends said that they could smell me as the approached my car today when we met up in the parking lot. over all : I was initially charmed by New Orleans because I wanted something that would smell a bit like something Claudia from Anne Rice's novels might wear. However there's nothing dark in this at all - this is a very nice old timey scent that genuinely smells like being inside a hot house with the sunlight streaming through the glass. This would be a perfect summer scent for those especially humid and sticky days.

When I was 7 I made up my mind that I wanted to live in an evil circus - not just a circus, regular ones gave me the heebies, but an evil one? Dream come true! And so with that spirit in mind I went ahead and purchased a full bottle . . . bottle : medicine! wet : oh this is pure medicine! There's a very strange note in here that's probably the incense which smells like those oils you get to put in your car. No! I command you to turn yummy on me! dry down : The incense hates me! It smells like wet incense that's impossibly cold, a warmer scent is beginning to peek though just a bit though. completely dry : Mmm, there we go - that was a bit frightening for a moment. The sugared part of the incense has finally made its way though and whatever Beth's blend of floral's is definitely helped mellow this out. This is incense through and through - like the ghost of something right after people have left, leaving behind them empty, trash filled walkways leading to the fair. Something very shiny and beautiful in a dark place, like finding Mardi Gras beads in the gutter. over all : A perfectly ghostly, night time scent - I had such completely high hopes and for the most part they were somewhat dashed. Boo hoo hoo. Midnight is such a wonderful blend however and the more I smell it the more I fall in love. I think I'll be keeping my bottle however, I'm convinced with a little time and age this will be everything I've wanted it to be and more. So while I'm not walking away from this first try with glowing praise I'm still definitely keeping this one close and dear.

imp : very men's Cologne like. However it did not occur to me until I started to slather this on that perhaps this is a man's scent. lol wet : no sweet notes in this at all for me! My skin has caught the eucalyptus and marine notes and is running strong with it. dry : On my this is a sibling to Hurricane, the same watery notes are in this as that with a few changes here and there. To me this is definitely a dark scent but without the dark water Hurricane had - this is blue, blue tropical water with something dark living beneath it. Absolutely perfect for any kind of deep sea creature or ocean monster tail - whatever's lurking here isn't out to cause trouble but you know its not something you should go and look to disturb. over all : I can see myself wearing this while lounging on some sort of tropical beach with a semi stormy sky. I think I'll be enjoying my imp from time to time but I don't need a big bottle of this but oh what a gorgeous scent this would be on a man! The very thought makes me go week in the knees, so maybe I'll save a bit of this for when I get a hubby of my own.

Imp : Lilly, lilly, lilly. Oh please let this not be all lilly. Wet :Lilly . . . and something else. I'm used to carnation being a spicy scent on me but there's not spice in here. There's a floral in here that my nose just can't peg. It smells as if I stuck my nose deep into a very fresh flower. Interestingly enough when I put my nose to it its a floral yet all around me I spell something akin to greenery and dry pasta. o___O Dry : Why hello there sweet pea, you apparently smell like dried pasta and are giving me an allergic reaction. This has got to be the most wonky perfume testing I have ever tried. What the heck is going on with my body chem??? This smells like a very nice green floral overall though - like one of those bouquets you can buy from the florist. Overall : This just isn't me. That combined with the mysterious dried pasta and ever growing reaction which is growing more burny on my arm as I type means its off to the swaps with this. This would be a really gorgeous scent on someone else though. I wanted this to be a good nighttime scent - oh well.

In the imp : Definitely getting a whiff of magnolia, it's hiding out but I can detect a trace of it here and there. Other than that this just smells like a very nice woman's perfume - definitely a night time scent but other than that there's no allusion to it's names sake that I can detect yet. Wet : This is just strong amber on me. Poo! I wanted magnolia. There's definitely some rose beginning to make its self known and true to its description it is smoky. It smells as if someone took a very fragment blossom and wafted it over incense or a cigarette. Its kind of a dry scent under all the blossoms and its the first hint that Beth's managed to catch yet another concept in the bottle. The smoke and the amber together make for something very discomforting, here's the hint of blackness in all of this. But as soon as I try to peg it down a bit more it flits away just like the real mystery murderer it's definitely there adding a darkness to what would otherwise be a very normal perfume. It definately smells like a man's scent that's been covered up - but in a very good intriguing sort of way. Dry Down : The amber has receded a bit and the jasmine is making its self known. The magnolia is still awol. 30 min later : Boo! This is already starting to fade! Just a very nice floral combination now. 60 min later : Pretty much faded away to my nose and my Grandmother isn't awake to tell me otherwise. Mellowed out to a very sweet floral with a hint of something creamy in it which might be the magnolias. I'll try this one again sometime to see if it doesn't change a bit. Over all : This is a gorgeous lovely scent, very nice and department store like however I was hoping for magnolia! in my scent and I didn't get any at all but wow what a heck of a show the black amber put on. I wanted this to be more reminiscent of Beth Short however all I get is just nice perfume. Not big bottle worthy on me but I'll enjoy the imp.

In the imp : Hm, it smells a bit like one of those super expensive candles you can buy at specialty stores, like Illuminations. I can definitely smell the berries in it. Wet : BERRY BERRY BERRY . . . and something else. This isn't pure sweet scent that you find in children's lip gloss this is a deep almost sickeningly sweet scent that's cool and a bit dark. I can definitely pick up the woodsy notes in this bringing it down a bit. It smells as if I should be taking a walk in some sort of deep, dark and leafy green woods to come across a thicket of almost too ripe berries. There's also something warm lurking in there which is probably the tomato leaf. Dry : What a gorgeous scent! This is totally unique and I can't decide if it's love or hate but what good throw. I can smell this coming up in a cloud all around me. Overall : An incredibly complex scent worthy of its name sake - something you have a little trouble putting together and are unsure if you like it or not. This is such a great woodsy, berry scent that its almost a little too true to its name. And like a good demon story this one lingered with me all day. It was there on my way to school, in classes, while sewing, on my lunch break, going home and finally when I lay down to take a nap only did it finally fade away but if I put my nose to my wrist I could still smell it. This is a fabulous scent but just not bottle worthy for me, however I may want to invest in another imp. >:3

Hm, Somehow I expected this to be a lighter colored oil because of the peach and amber but its red! lol Looks like its already pulling tricks! Ok onto the review : In the imp : Peach! Amber! Oh this is a wet juicy peach that's got a bit of a dark side to it. Yum, yum yum. Wet : Holy perfume throw batman! I can actually smell this on me for a change and its sooo good. This is already looking to be big bottle worthy. It's still a big wickedly juicy peach but some other scents have come out to play, definitely the musk and a bit of the patchouli. Dry down : This smells like peach incense on me now. The patchouli, musk and amber have all settled in as a dominant note, but the peach is still there but now it's a bit dried out. This is the perfect scent for an imp - I can totally imagine one having this warm, juicy and a bit naughty scent. What a great thing this would be to wear in the summer or fall or on warm evenings and nights! 1 hr later : Such a wonderful spiced fruity scent. It actually reminds me a bit of peach cobbler now. Overall : Yum yum. That's what I keep saying to myself over and over again - this is a perfect darkly sweet incensey peach. Just really perfect - I totally need a big bottle of this. <3 And what throw! My grandmother said she could smell it when she came in the apartment - that's power. Imp is a really warm devilish scent that's 100% true to its name sake, brava Beth! I'm totally in love.
