This was a scent I was dying to try. One of my first posts in this forum 8+ years ago was in Fantasy Island asking for a "Roses, Pearls, and Diamonds" scent--thank you Beth!!! Initially, this is very sweet coconut on me--not overly fake and suntan lotion-esque, but sweet, ripe coconut, like in coconut juice. Not really for me, after a bit of drydown, however, the rose comes out to play and this is really pretty and sweet, perfectly balanced fruity and floral. Reminds me of a less creamy Hanae Mori Butterfly, very girlish and sparkly and bright--so, so happy with this! ----- EDIT: Going through a retrial of all my old favorite imps to see if there are any bottle-worth purchases. This is still lovely, but for the most part stays cloying-ly sweet on me until just before fading. Will keep retesting.

This is very warm and comforting. I primarily get vanilla with a warm amber background--the amber in this is very light and not at all red or resin-y. Mostly just warm vanilla with something even warmer in the background. I get very little if any sandalwood, if anything it is lurking in the background, adding to the warm-ness of the scent. Sweet pea is also non-existent, but there is a bit of body to the vanilla. Overall, a lovely scent. It's warm, lovely vanilla with just a bit extra to make it more complex. Not particularly striking or interesting, but comforting and sweet.

Oh this does not work for me at all. The jasmine turns band-aid-y as it sometimes does. Ugh.

This is lovely and pretty and pale in the imp. The lemon blossom comes out as clean and floral, but not overpoweringly lemony, there is a distinct floral quality to this scent. There's also a musk helping blend the notes, it's soft and delicate, like a skin must but slightly more aquatic. A pretty gentle floral but too white for me.

Spiced apple cider over a warm, slightly smoky base. Almost foody. Not sure if I would wear this.
-
RED JASMINE from the first review describes this perfectly. Jasmine and red sandalwood. Not for me.
-
Lavender dominates this for me. Similar to Ode on Melancholy, at least in the same family. After a few minutes it becomes a shrieking white floral.

A woody, musky-weird base glooping over with blackberry preserves, a twist of mandarin, strawberry juice, pulverized watermelon, and a handful of smushed gardenia petals. Something similar to Bat of Virtue and somewhat to Bewitched. This is all sweet fruit and berries over a musky base to help them blend and something slightly sharp in the background. Something in this doesn't work for me, but I can't pick out the note. After a few minutes, it becomes sandalwood-esque with a less wet, more jam-like berry background.

Very pretty, sweet apple blossom and apple. I love apple, but this is just too simple and innocent. Would make a great room scent.

This did not smell at all like I expected. There is something dark and heavy and resinous in this scent that is not agreeing with me, but can't pick it out from the scent list. As it dries, this lightens up and I get the zippy ginger and the cream of vanilla and apricot (slightly plasticky as it is wont to do).

Oh this smells so pretty in the bottle! A lovely, delicate rose--one of the prettiest BPAL blends. Warmed up by rosewood, similar to Libertine and Belle Vinu, but still managing to be fresh and wet and delicate.

Wet, this is just GREEN GREEN GREEN. Fresh and clean smelling but a little overwhelming. The green-ness calms down after a bit, but this is a masculine scent.

Interesting. I get mostly blackcurrant, which smells like berries and chocolate gone slightly off and dry, the the floral notes and something purely sweet. This is an almost gourmand floral on me. After a few minutes of drydown, the blackcurrant disappears and this is a clean, green floral. Very fresh smelling.

Clean lemon with a hint of floral. Similar to Embalming Fluid, and in the same family as Mag Mell and Namaste.
-
All jasmine, with just a touch of dryness and spice from the myrrh. Cannot smell the rose. Jasmine only works as a supporting note for me, this is too much.
-
This is way too sweet on me. In the bottle, it's all sticky sweet from the honey and the wine-like oleander, with the honey turning slightly powdery. Smells like cough syrup and powder.

I get mostly lavender from this--unfortunate because the smell of lavender makes my stomach turn. After drydown, the sandalwood and musk come out, drying and warming up this scent. It's still primarily lavender, but a more bearable, dried pretty potpourri kind of lavendar instead of the herbal, fresh green type.

In the imp, this is all cedarwood tempered with lemongrass--dry and woody and clean. On the skin, the lemongrass is most prominent, but the rose and jasmine are there, well behaved in the background. There's just a touch of dryness from the woods. This is lemon, with a bit of rose and wood. It is very soothing. Not sure if I would wear it as a perfume, but it would make a great linen scent.

This has a lot of floral notes I like, but I'm not sure if they'll be too overwhelming together! Wet, this smells exactly like a bouquet--fresh, clean and just a mingling of florals, most prominently lily and jasmine. The tangerine is there in the beginning, but seems to disappear in drydown. A pretty floral bouquet, but you have to love florals to like this scent. A bit much for me to wear.

Wow, this smells so unique and lovely in the imp. Wet, it's sweet coffee but not excessively gourmand, there's also a hint of spice and floral in the background and something lurking underneath that gives it a slight band-aid note--I think this is the mahogany for me. Dry, it's still sweet coffee--dry coffee, as if you're smelling hazelnut coffee beans freshly roasted--over a light spice and floral base. This needs a retest! Really one of the most interesting BPAL's I've encountered.

Realizing that I amp teak like no other. This is all teak and leather and man-ly wood-y spice-y things. Nope.

This smells like graveyard dirt. Dark, earthy, mossy green.

The Plane of Joy, eternal reward for a lifetime of valor and glory. A place of eternal youth and beauty, strength and honor, music and revelry. The warmth of amber, the puissance of white ginger and the clarity of verbena, with fresh green grass, lush sage and cleansing droplets of summer rain. This smells sweet, fresh and clean, very similar (but better) than Embalming Fluid. Ginger always smells citrus-y to me, so this is a sugared lemon over a sweet floral background. Has commonalities with B&BW's lemon verbena scent. Floral, citrus, sweet. Not something I would often wear though.

This has a lot of notes I'm not very familiar with. It ends up smelling like an aquatic floral, with a sticky, sickly sweet note that does not work on me.

Created to represent the essence of Bram Stoker’s tragic heroine, Lucy Westenra. Seductive, wanton and deadly, but underscored with a soft, wistful innocense. The gentle scent of rose and a blend of Victorian spices. A clean, slightly aquatic rose with just a hint of spice. I love rose scents, but at this point in my BPAL life, I've experienced too many of the Lab's roses for this to be outstanding for me. I would say it's most similar to London. This one is very pretty and well balanced, not too heady or wet.
