Blood, in Bewitching Brews, smells a lot like sweet cloves to me.

I had to get an imp of this for two reasons: One, I wanted to see what vetiver did on me, and two, how could anyone not want something called "A countenance forboding EEEVIL? In the imp: Hi patchouli! Wet: Patchouli and incense, with a slight hint of sweetness. VERY slight. Dry: I used to have an incense called Oakmoss and Vetiver, and that is exactly what this smells like on me. And Whooboy, is it lasting. This stayed strong from the minute I put it on until about 5:30 today when I developed a raging headache (Hopefully not from this) and I had to take it off. Or try, anyway. It's 8:17 and I can still smell its ghost. Overall, it's an interesting scent, but way too strong for everyday wear for me. It might be worth trying in an oil burner, though.

I read in an older thread that the Imps used to have cords and little parchment labels, as opposed to the paper ones used these days. Does anyone have any pictures of those?

In the bottle: An impossibly faint smell of cold metal. I nearly have to poke my nose into the bottle to smell it. Wet: Well, I can smell it now, and it smells like metal florals. Almost like someone carved flowers into a cold sword...if that makes any sense. Dry: The metal fades away to leave small, pale flowers in its wake. The perfume gets stronger as it dries, and has a longer than average wear length and throw.

Why haven't I reviewed this yet? This scent doesn't change much on me from bottle to skin to drydown. Oddly enough, this is the most traditional-perfume scent that I own from BPAL, being heavy and, well, thick almost, to my nose. Sweetened ambergris is all I really get. It's a keeper, for those times for when I want to feel old-school female.

In the imp: It smells a lot like Black Lotus to me- Very resin-y, with an undernote of florals. But this time, I didn't like the underlying florals as much. That's odd- I usually like roses. Wet: "Hah! I make you smell like you were burning Amber incense in your dorm room in secret!" Gee, thanks. Not what I was aiming for though. Dry: Well, I can smell the rose now, but it's yelling "Help! Am being squisherd by Amber" and the combination makes it smell almost like a rose-scented crayon. I would like it if my skin chemistry didn't do STRANGE things to it.

Miskatonic U, how I looked forward to you...How could you betray me like this? In the imp: Hmm...Dusty tomes, polished wood floors, and...Kettle Corn? What? Oh well, maybe it'll change on my skin... Wet: Well, it changed. The dusty tomes and Wood floors vanished off into distant memory, leaving me...Kettle corn. Oh boy. Dry: Slightly lighter kettle corn. Maybe I just got a wierd batch or something.

Is there anything that is fairly similar to Mechanical Phoenix? It smells excellent on my younger brother, but it also smells excellent on me, and there is no way I'm giving up my only bottle. Anything from the new Phoenix Steamworks line, maybe?

In the bottle: This is not just grape, this is grape to the tune of Beethovens fifth. Grape grape grape GRAAAAAAAAPE. Sweet, delicious, REAL grape, as opposed to the fake grape found in so many other non-BPAL scents. They, sirs, fool nobody. Wet: Ladies and gentlemen, you've heard of candied pinapple. You may have heard of candied cherries, and you might have heard of candy apples. BUT! Have you ever heard of candied grapes? Well, you have now. dry: The grape note finally starts to settle down a bit, letting the red musk, myrrh, and ...Carnation? I want to say carnation-come out and make this oil a bit more....perfume-y as opposed to foody. Verdict: Not something I see myself using a lot. I really need to get into trading...

Damn you, Aquarius! You KNEW I'd get a second Frimp of Fruitcake when I ordered you! Imp: Well, the label doesn't lie. It smells like wonderful sweet boozy fruitcake. Wet: On my skin, the booze kinda disappears and the cake portion smells sweet and edible. Dry: The Cake disappears, and the fruit that's left smells like Bath and Body Works Gumdrop stuff from the past holiday season. Mmm. Gumdrop-y goodness. (Except better, cause it's BPAL. ^_-) I like the scent enough to keep the Frimps, but I don't see me wearing it often because it makes me rediculously hungry.

*High Falsetto Voice* This is the dawning of the age of aquarius, age of aquariUS! What can I say? Some of my best friends are aquarians, and this applies to the perfume oil as well. Bottled: Sweet, light mint. I think that's the anise. it's not a very strong smell in the bottle. Wet: The Myrrh comes out to play with the anise, and the result is sweet and incense-y and holy with a slight hint of coldness. Dry: I'm assuming that floral that developed is the Wisteria, which plays well with the Anise and Myrrh. No adult supervision required. It likes me! It really likes me!

In the imp: My WORD, this is tangy. That's no perfume oil, that's a CRANBERRY STATION! It's also a lovely color. Wet/dry on skin (Virtually no difference): This is such a heavy perfume on me and it makes me uncomfortable. Every time i shifted my weight, there was CRANBERRY. There was no escape...until I washed it off.

There was a B&BW body spray a few years ago called Red Currant and Thyme Tea, which smelled GREAT on me...so of course it was discontinued. Any suggestions?

Hello, O, didn't I review you yet? Guess not. Imp: Honey, honey, honey-Wait, is that? No, it's just more honey. Wet on skin: Honey hits adulthood and hooks up with Amber. Honey is still dominant, but Amber is there for the ride. No vanilla yet, which makes me happy. Dry: Mmmm....Still smells like honey, but it's not cloying like I was afraid it was going to be. Amber is now an equal in this little scent relationship, and Vanilla never showed up to crash the party. Interesting side note: My cat loves this perfume on me. Normally she runs out of the room when I'm putting scent on, but not with O. She tries to lick me.

DDLM twenty-aught-seven: In the bottle: Smoky, with a layer of sweet underneath. I want to say Star fruit, but I have the feeling it's cactus fruit. Either way, yummy! On me wet: The smoky note is amped slightly- It's like someone threw the starfruit onto a bonfire. on me Dry: Oh. My. Word. This is EXACTLY what I wanted O to smell like on me-it's like honey powder, and powder in a good way, not a "I smell like I'm doused in Johnson and Johnson's." way; and honey in a nice and pretty, non-cloying way. DDLM 07, WHY are you a limited edition? you smell so good on me....

Dry white sandalwood wrapped in thin woods, soft grasses and the lightest white flowers layered over cajeput and the warm, deep scent of embalming herbs. In Imp: A cold, very dry sweetness...Almost like powdered sugar rubbed into driftwood left in the sun. Wet on skin: Wood dust. Much like my woodshop class in highschool. Dy on skin: Wood shop during a fire drill, with the smell of dried grass underneath the wood dust. Edited to add the lab description.

In the imp: Are you SURE there's no patchouli in this? It smells...Well, like Patchouli. On my skin wet: Well, no patchouli, so thats something. Smells like ferns, with maybe some florals in the background. Dry: Just...ferns. Nothing exceptional. Not bad, but not exceptional on me.

in Imp: Mmm...Patchouli. I can smell something else herby under there, but it's mostly Patchouli. Wet on skin: This is going to sound like the most rediculous thing I've ever said on BPAL but...I SMELL LIKE CHICKEN. delicious, highly herbed, home-rotisseried chicken. I WANT TO EAT MY ARM, is how good of a chicken this smells. Dry on skin: The herbalness lightens, but the chicken is still there...and delicious. I dunno if I like it enough to buy a full bottle, but I'll definately use up the imp.

In bottle: Wow, I had no idea I liked cherry so much! It smells amazingly edible! Wet on skin: Yup! Delicious cherry with a wee little bit of rose. Dry on skin: ...Wait, where'd the cherry go? WHERE DID EVERYTHING GO? all I can smell is plastic! Slightly burnt plastic! My inner Darth Vader is screaming NOOOOOOO! Melodramaticaly. I'm going to try this again in a couple of days, and if it doesn't work out...I'll get a scent locket for my birthday.

I've wanted to review this sucker for WEEKS! (Troubles finding Love Me in the Bewitching Brews...eh well.) In the Imp: The best way I can say it is Cherry Cola before they add the soda water to it...All the bite with no effervescese. Wet on skin: About the same, but with more of a cinnamon note to it. Dry: An herb-y note comes out in this as well, and the whole thing gets amped to the millionth degree. This didn't do much for me in the beginning anyway, and the herb note is making me the slightest bit...nauseated, it's THAT strong. Not for me, kthxbye.

A vital, bold scent, throbbing with sensuality. Essence of dragon's blood resin, thickened with myrrh and cherry, with a trickle of clove. In the imp: Spicy and sweet- not in an "Eat me!" sort of way, but in a more disturbing way; like Masabakes without the bitterness. On my skin wet: Well, thankfully it didn't go all bitter like Masabakes does on me. The closest I can call it is cherry cola. On my skin dry: My skin ate the cherry! In fact, it either ate everything or amped the clove like crazyness. Still, it smells nice...in a pumpkin pie sort of way. I Probably won't be buying a full bottle of this, but I will use up the imp.

In the imp: OMG! I wanted to get myself a bowl of vanilla ice cream, pour the imp over it, and have myself some YUMMY smelling dessert! Of course, I didn't, and I think this may have been my downfall. On my skin: Smells good for about sixty seconds, and then...The vanilla burns away and leaves a scent best described as burning. It smelled like the spices were lit on fire, and not in a nice, incense-y way. In a bad, PUT IT OUT NOW! way. I was so disappointed, but I know how well my skin and Bath and Body Works vanilla get along, and I needed to see if it was going to be the same way with BPAL vanilla. AAAARGH. Edit 6 months later: Looks like aging has a bit of a trade-off here. Sure, it doesn't smell like it goes on ice cream anymore, but when I put it on, THE BURNING SMELL IS GONE! This smells AMAZING on me! I need to get more! So, the moral of the story is, if you think you don't like snake oil, age it and come back to it. *Hugs imp of snake oil*

I got this as a frimp in my last order, and the best way I can describe it is: I SMELL LIKE A BOY! A slightly lemony boy, but a boy nonetheless. The aftershave/cologne scent is predominant on me, with a slight hint of citrus. And even though I am a feminine girl who likes skirts and all, I love smelling like a boy! Definite five ml.

This doesn't smell like lilac and dragons blood. This smells like LILAC and dragon's blood and this is before it even hits my skin. Once it hits my skin, the dragon's blood is eaten and the lilac is all that is left. Probably not gonna wear this much, as I don't much like smelling like my backyard. It is piercing and radiant, though.
