If your top 5 scents are... Then try these!

I'm pretty new here, but my top five so far are: 1. Antikythera Mechanism 2. Yorick 3. O 4. Kumiho 5. The Old Goblin -
On me, Kumiho is a sweet ginger. I don't smell any tea, but I think ginger fell victim to my sweet-boosting tendencies. Still, I love the clean, sweet smell of this. One of my favorites - it is always soothing after a long, stressful day.

This is such a nice apple fragrance! It's a sweet apple on me - but everything ends up smelling sweet on me. On my roommate, it turns into a tart apple. Either way, the dark base gives this scent a richness and complexity that I really enjoy, without overpowering the apple. One of my favorite scents.

Somehow, the florals in this one are really strong on me. I don't get the light florals that everyone describes - they turn really punchy and "grandma's perfume" on me. To be fair, a lot of florals do this on me, but I had hopes that this more subtle floral would be different. Alas.

Disclaimer: I boost the HELL out of vanilla, and the lab's vanilla scents tend to work really well on me. That being said, I really liked this scent. On me, it turned into a dark, sweet vanilla, with an undertone of apple. The other notes created a complex and slightly woody base. Overall, it worked really well with my skin chemistry.

On me, this is mostly floral. The first time I tried it, the florals and the woods combined into an unpleasant, sharp, biting combination. However, I gave it a second shot, and I'm glad I did. It's never going to be one of my favorite scents, but the floral elements blend well with the woods into a scent that feels like viewing an old picture of a New England meadow. The woods are still pretty "biting" on me, and not like my favorite wood scents, which are smoother, and the florals are a bit too strong for me.

This smells like industrial cleaner on me, like all BPAL aquatics that I've tried before. If you've had bad BPAL aquatic experiences, this scent won't be the one that changes your opinion.
-
This scent on me was just thick, sweet incense - although my skin boosts anything that's sweet. I got a lot of citrus/ozone in the very beginning, but on drydown, the incense overwhelmed everything else. It's not a bad incense scent and I like incense in small doses, so I'll be keeping this one.

This scent is beautiful on me. It starts as a very earthy scent, like rich potting soil, but with an undertone of spice. As it dries, the spice really emerges. Hours later, the earth has gently faded out and left the barest hint of spice. I'm sure I'll use the imp.
-
Sea air, kelp, and climbing vines, flame-singed cedarwood and juniper branches, cypress boughs, alder wood, violets, selino, parsley, glistritha, and white sage. On me, this scent was very chemical-clean with a sense of muddled, soapy woods in the background. As it faded, the woods started to be more prominent, but they weren't able to rescue the scent. It's not great on me - I'll swap or pass on to a friend.

In the imp, this was very floral, and this continued when it was wet. It was a loud but very pleasant floral. As it dried down, it became WAY more vanilla on me - but I amp the hell out of vanilla. I really liked the vanilla-floral it turned into on me, though. Overall, I thought it was a floral without a harsh edge, and I found it very pleasing throughout. Not quite bottleworthy for me, but the imp will likely get a fair bit of use.

Bengal dries down to a nice cinnamon blend on me - almost like a sweet cup of chai tea. My skin chemistry boosts both vanilla and honey, but the spices don't get overwhelmed by honey, which is a first for me. Finally, a spicy scent I can wear... Also, it doesn't have an edge to it and doesn't give me a headache at all, so overall, I really like this scent. EDIT: Two hours later, this has turned unpleasantly musky and a little chalky. Ugh! Nevermind, I guess.

I don't know what flower it was (gardenia, maybe?), but it punched me in the face. I'm still reeling. The thick floral was all I could smell for hours. When that faded, it turned into a warm vanilla scent, which isn't surprising, since I seem to boost the hell out of vanilla. However, it took me hours to get to that point. It's a lot richer on my friend, so this imp is definitely his. I'd maybe daub a bit on my wrist if I wanted to smell very flower-y, but there are florals I like that do it better with my skin chemistry.

This scent is less mint and more soft on me than some other reviewers describe. The scent is entirely a citrus at first, but it dries down to a sweet citrus floral after a bit. I can't smell a strong musk note, but there is a depth to the citrus scent that I assume is from the musk. A solid scent, but too sweet on me for regular use. I'll probably use the imp, though.

The Antikythera Mechanism
Bones613 replied to suki's topic in Phoenix Steamworks & Research Facility
My skin apparently loves the vanilla, because that was boosted right away. Slowly, the woods began to bloom out of it, and it turned into a rich vanilla woody mix. I can't smell the tobacco at all, which is a plus for me but might not be for others. I love vanilla scents so this was perfect for me - the woods really gave it a depth that I miss in more gourmand vanilla scents. This is one of my first BPAL scents - now I'm hooked.
