It smells like coconut to me, too, but it's a deep, musky, sophisticated coconut. I can tell there's bergamot in it, too. It's quite a light scent on me, not too strong. Very nice, though I'm not sure I'll get a big bottle. That's more to do with the amount of BPAL I already have though, not a reflection on Desire.

I love this stuff. I've been using it to open up communication with men I'd like to get to know better, and it works like a charm. Of course One in particular is a bit shy, and this has been great in drawing him out and getting conversations going. Although it's not suggested on the TAL site, I've also used it a lot when speaking to employment agencies and employers, in order to enhance communications and make them more receptive towards me, and it's worked brilliantly for that, as well, even when they haven't previously been very receptive. It also smells amazing - a bit of orange, and smooth, sensual musk. Not too heavy, or too sweet. This is one I never want to run out of!

TAL Scent Recommendations/Comparing TAL Scents to BPAL

That's exactly where it came from! I love Flanders and Swann. I don't think anyone's ever recognised it before. Do you know Tom Lehrer at all? You'd probably enjoy it... -
Fresh on, this smelled like juicy blackcurrant and rich coffee. It's dried down to warm fruit, a dry heat, and a slightly burnt smell. It makes me think of late summer, somehow, and orange light. It's light, for all that, and it isn't an overpowering scent. It seems to be lasting pretty well. It was a frimp in my Red Moon order, and I'd never heard of it before. It's surprisingly nice, and while I don't think I'll be getting a bottle, it might be enough to change my mind about leather notes. I've never found a scent with leather that works on me.

TAL Scent Recommendations/Comparing TAL Scents to BPAL

I just got my Red Moon order, and it smells almost exactly like Blinding Glory of Love, without the rose. It's a bit less in-your-face, too, but at least I feel like I can leave the house in it! -
Clio - it's warm and gorgeous. I love it.

Strong jasmine and other flowers. A great scent, even though I'm not normally keen on florals. I didn't notice any civet in it, but it is pretty strong. I put it on while thinking vaguely about drawing attractive men to me, and yep, several were keen to talk to me, even though I wasn't looking my best since I was only going to the gym. I'll have to try it again with a bit more concentration, because I was pretty impressed. I'd use it for the scent alone, because I love it, but the effects don't hurt at all.

When I first got Snake Oil, about a year or more ago, it was pleasant, but nothing special, and I wondered what all the fuss was about. It was a slightly dry vanilla, with incense/ hippy clothes shop over the top. Now, though, it's fantastic. The vanilla isn't dry anymore, it's smooth and warm and inviting; the incense has mellowed out, and it's just a beautiful fragrance. It's not too heavy, but it has a decent throw. You only need a tiny bit, and it lasts for hours. The oil itself is rather thick and dark, and leaves a slight stain on very fair skin. Nothing that would really be noticeable if you weren't looking.

In the imp, it smelled great - but it vanished immediately after application. I slathered it on again, and could smell a warm rose when I held my wrist right up to my nose. A pity it disappeared, because I liked it in the imp.

In the imp, it smelled really strongly of civet and mint. Civet usually works well on me, but this was kind of strong and dirty. Once it was on, it did smell great - the civet faded down and became a smooth note, backing up a clean, elegant mint. As a perfume, I really like this. I can't speak for the voodoo effects as I was alone in the house with the cat when I tried it. All the voodoo blends I've tried for purpose have worked though.

When I ordered this, I knew I loved three of the four listed notes; I hadn't encountered BPAL orchid before. I just got my Rose Moon order today, and this was the first oil I tried. When first applied, it has a pungent lavender scent with frankincense in the background. It cools off into a softer, gentle lavender note after a few minutes, and the orchid comes to the forefront. The resins aren't strong, they sit in the background giving depth and interest to the florals. On the whole, it's a clean, elegant scent, without much throw. I've had it on for about 6 hours now, and can still smell it, though only just. I love this blend, and it's a shame it's a limited edition because I can see myself using this a lot.

When I ordered it, I knew I liked most of the notes, with the exception of the caramel. So, of course, that's the strongest note! But it's actually a very nice caramel, deep and earthy and warm, not too sweet, or like something you'd pour on your ice cream. Funnily enough, I did get the lime the first time I put it on, but only for a few minutes. Since then, it's been caramel all the way; maybe when it ages, the lime will come back.

I was another who scribbled notes and then was surprised when I checked the description. I got strong mint and a heavy floral, and loved it, as I love all the minty blends I've tried. It reminded me a lot of Juke Joint and Black Cat, in fact, and although I was pleased I had an imp, there was just something not quite as great about it. It's dried down to an elegant minty patchouli, which I love. It's not Juke Joint's grubby little sister any more, it's come into its own. I might even get a big bottle at some point, or at least another imp when this runs out. I'm really amazed there's no mint listed in this!
