The Obsidian Widow

This is almost all rose on me, mixed with the scent of nail polish. I can start to smell the wine on the dry down and the jasmine, but it stays strong on the rose, until at the end it dries down into powder. *sad face* i love patchouli, but i get none of it here. -
I don't know why but this goes minty on my skin initally. I love the Labs honey, so I was thinking this would be awesome and comforting. as it dries down, and the tonka comes out, the honey starts to amplify and I am enjoying it more and more. *edited to add* as it dries down even more, a little bit of spiciness comes out and the honey is almost beeswax-like, and it reminds me a tiny bit of Loved to Death, which is in my top 5 of bpal so yeah, i like this one

in the imp - violet and vetiver. on my skin - it's kind of a soapy floral. *INSERT BIG SAD FACE HERE*

In the imp, it smells like a really authentic head shop - the kind thats on a a side street and sells herbs in glass jars and the owner is barefoot. is that the Indian Musk? the Myrrh? i don't know but i love/hate it. on my skin, it lightens up a bit, and has a tang that balances the headiness, which i am guessing is the bergamot and pine. i really like it. i am so going to wear this when i am in my hippie mood in the summer with bare feet and tye-dye dresses.

I want to love this, but it's so light my skin eats it instantly. i have to shove my wrist up my nose to get any scent. it's like a really light sandalwood but that's all i can make out. i will have to try it in a scent locket and see what happens.

I'm not really sure what I am smelling here - certainly not any of the notes listed...maybe that's because Beth is such a scent magician.... it smells like a mens cologne on me, albeit a little on the sweet side. I don't get any anise thankfully as i can't stand the stuff but it's nice, whatever it is. -
in the imp - cheap cologne. on my skin - cheap cologne and baby powder. is it the musk that makes things powdery for me? or the rose? *le sigh*

kind of a malty aquatic? basically it smells exactly as the name suggests! if it were translated into modern day it would be a light herbal beer made by hipsters at a niche brewery in an artsy town
-
in the imp - it's licorice, and i HATE licorice. I agree with achildoftime, it smells like Good n Plenty. on my skin - i get the sweet cherry blossom trying to come out, and the anise starts to take a back seat, and the sandalwood lends itself to smoothing out the blend. masterfully blended, just not for me.
-
in the imp - dirt. straight up worm food. on my skin - dirt still but with coconut! LOL such a fun scent. like a zombi from tropical island.
-
in the imp- all citrus, all the time. go big or go home. on my skin - the florals blossom to tame the citrus a bit. i really hate citrus smells BUT i think Beth masterfully blended this so it's a perfect balance once it is on the skin. I will say that i don't really get the scent association with a Night-Gaunt, but that's just me.

in the imp, it's myrtle and carnation. kind of sharpish. on my skin the ambers back up the florals, making it warm and a bit creamy. it smells like an avon perfume my mom would have worn in the 90s.
-
in the imp it's kind of tangy and sharp and stings my eyes. on my skin it's still tangy, but the earthiness comes out, and i smell some of the fig. it's a little jammy, like a really ripe fig. and i smell some earth, like dirt. maybe the oakmoss? it's a very interesting scent, not one i will wear but i love how the scent conjures up the Nephilim in my imagination.

HOLY. CRAP. THIS. IS. GORGEOUS. Oh man. it's like the smell of a head shop meets TKO. OMG. This is definately going to be a sleep scent for sure. I need this in an Atmo spray! Sandalwood mixed with Nag Champa and lavender! Oh. My. God.

Vetiver and... cedar? kind of like those cedar mothballs you buy for the closet... mixed with something metallic and sweet. I like smoky scents but this is definitely evocative of it's description! -
In the imp, i smell a light, effervescent honey wine. On my skin, tangy and sharp myrrh and resins, almost incense-like, and the crimson tea. Not my idea of Eros, but then again, i think my idea of sexiness is different than Beths LOL.

This definitely smells butterscotchy... it reminds me of a fall scented candle, like the ones that are supposed to be gingerbread but have started to collect the scents of all the other candles adjacent to them... kind of like walking into a candle store in autumn when all the fall scented candles come out.

Judging from the comments, i must have an aged imp, as this is mostly a creamy honey in the imp, reminding me very strongly of O. On my skin, the floral comes out, and it is a lovely counterpoint to the honey. Very, very pretty. Like a lighter, more innocent version of O.

In the imp, it smells like nail polish. On my skin, it is green leaves when you crush them between your fingers and the woody cedar, with some berry-like sweetness. I really like it.
-
Fruit! This smells like straight up berries in the imp AND on my skin. As it dries down, it's still fruit. Maybe with a tiny tang, but mostly: berries.

The gleaming, indescribably clean scent of purified, ritually consecrated holy water. In the vial, this is very light and water-ish. A little cucumbery as some have noted. On my skin it smells like straight up mens cologne, but one that i LIKE! I am so picky when it comes to the cologne my man wears... ironically, as much as I love down and dirty patch on me, I only want clean and fresh smelling things on him so I am hoping that this will work on the boyfriends skin cuz if it does...I won't be able to keep my hands off him

Maiden smells like a princess having tea with the Queen (with a twist of lemon, no sugar, thank you) in a drawing room with roses on the table. I am not picking up much of the carnation, maybe just a little bit in the background.

I have been putting off testing this one because, jasmine. also, there was really nothing in the scent notes that appealed to me. Well. was I wrong. At first sniff my first thoughts were creamy and very pretty. Must be the sandalwood and the skin musk. I don't really detect the jasmine, just something floral in there to give some tang to the sweetness. I actually really like it. makes me think of young girlish innocence.... which means I won't be wearing it LOL but I will give the imp to my daughter

I usually hate anything with orange in it but here I smell mostly the patch and ylang ylang off the bat. Then the blood orange mixes with the woodiness and It reminds me of when I was a kid and I would polish my grandmothers wood dining table before the holiday dinner. Warm and woody and oddly comforting, given the name.

Arcana is like the essence of Kitchen Witchy herbalness. I get the lavender and verbena right away and it smells so clean and witchy and comforting. I would like to use this to scent some kitchen soap or something.
