Sadly, for the first time ever, I understand what people mean when they talk about getting the "Play-Doh smell." In the bottle: Play-Doh. Wet: Play-Doh. Dry: somehow stronger Play-Doh. Sad. I guess I'll stick to huffing my sniffie of Snow White 2005, and pass this along to someone with better skin than mine.

This smells, to me, exactly like walking into a Dunkin Donuts on a snowy day--coffee, hot cocoa, and donuts. It's fabulous, and it makes me miss New England!

This stuff is amazing. I totally get the sugary-marshmallowy-lavendery scent that other people describe. I don't usually have problems falling asleep, but my husband does. I've been putting TKO on our pillows at night, and I'm dropping off as soon as my head hits the pillow (and sleeping even harder than I usually do), but he's been falling asleep faster too--and commenting on how much he likes the scent, too (and has encouraged me to buy a bottle, which is never a bad thing). I'm a fan.

Oh no! Oh, why, why, why? I was completely prepared to love this, and then... Strawberry soda. Completely. Totally. I can't even remember when I might have had strawberry soda (Fanta, I guess?), but that's what's on my arm now. Stupid skin. Stupid nose. Guess I've never been good at wearing pink...

I am currently busy drooling on my right arm while my eyes roll back in my head, so this review will be short. First sniff, and wet on skin: HOLY FREAKING VETIVER. (coupled with, aha, so that IS what vetiver smells like!) Drying down: coconut! But dark, heavy coconut...this is not a tropical drink. Although, hi vanilla! Dry: dark. swarthy. sweet. dangerous. Oh my god...is it...yes. It is. This is a Dangerous Mood scent! I am *so* going to get in (good) trouble wearing this...

Ooooh, lilac.... Pontarlier is a great mostly-lilac scent on me...totally reminds me of the lilac bushes in spring when I was a kid. Gorgeous.
-
Okay, I am totally not a floral girl, and I expected to sniff this and put it right on the swap pile. But. Oh. My. God. I have never smelled lilac like this that wasn't still hanging on a tree. This is amazing. It smells like the spring when I was seven years old. I'm just sitting here sniffing my arm and smiling.

Oh. Yum. Apricot and cloves...totally. I definitely get the candle-y smell, but holy moley do I smell good. I definitely smell like some kind of baked good....I'm not sure in what situation I'd actually want to smell like this, though....it's not exactly an out-on-the-town scent, and it's not quite a take-me-home-hot-stuff scent (though it does make me smell tarty. Ha!), and it's not exactly an I'm-a-serious-professional scent... But yum. I do smell awesome.

Snake Oil with cinnamon, cassia, and red ginger. I smelled this and swooned. Seriously. I freaking *swooned*. It's like cookies...dangerous cookies. "Evil gingersnaps" totally nailed it. I was just about ready to declare my eternal love....when my wrist started to burn. Saw-Scaled Viper gave me what looks exactly like a fresh hickey on my wrist. Thank goodness for scent lockets...

Wow, this is a really nice scent--it starts off *very* cinnamony, and then the almondy smell starts to come in. Hmm. I think I might like this....but...wait.... OW! Ow, it burns! Crap! I've never had a skin reaction to an oil before, but I guess this one is just too much for me. Dammit! I like the smell, but the burning is not quite the excitement I was looking for. Off to the swaps...

Snake Oil with red mandarin, myrrh, and almond. Almond. AND Snake Oil. I am completely smitten. I don't really get the mandarin or myrrh here...just this amazing, almondy Snake Oil. :swoon:

Amazing. I picked this up thinking it might be "interesting"...but I didn't expect to actually LOVE it. Caramel apples, totally. Sweet, but with a little bit of that apple tartness . It's really amazingly accurate. I probably wouldn't wear it everyday, but I could see getting a lot of use out of this around October!

Okay, I'm getting better overall at picking out new and different notes, but I'm still learning as I go. So it wasn't until I put Pink Moon on that I realized I had no idea what carnation smelled like...and what a nice surprise that was! I'm not big with the florals, so I was a little worried about this one...but it's amazing. Sweet, sugary, a little spicy...and it really does smell pink. Just awesome.

What a great freakin’ word. BPAL LOVES TEH SMUT! Three swarthy, smutty musks sweetened with sugar and woozy with dark booze notes. I can't tell you how much I wanted to like this. I was ready to buy a bottle unsniffed, just from the description and other people's rave reviews...it sounds like EXACTLY my kind of scent. Well....there's a lesson here for me (sadly, again) about my weird body chemistry/weird nose/whatever. First try with Smut: I don't get sugar, or booze, or anything except this really funky musky smell that is actually makes me woozy, but not in a good way. Ended up washing it off. Second try, today: I get a little of the sugary boozy smell, and overall it's a better experience, but there's still this one note that smells...well, smutty, but again, not in a good way. There's this weird dark note that is just not working out for me. It smells...interesting. But it doesn't smell good on me. I am very, very sad about this.... I know I'll give it another chance (just in case?), but this may be a swapper for me.

Mmmm, lemony! But there are other, subtler scents behind the lemons...they seem to give the lemony scent some heft, and I like that. I can really see why people rave about this as a summer scent. It's kind of hard to imagine at this particular moment (since we're dealing with snowstorms in April right now), but I could imagine this being a nice, light, crisp scent for summer. Possibly a little *too* light for my tastes, but I get why it's a "classic"!

See, now here's a great example of how much of a difference body chemistry (and noses, I guess) can make. I ordered an imp of this because Tazjia (just up there ) *raved* about it. Seriously. The girl is smitten by this scent. On me, though...it starts out like cherries. Lots and lots and lots of cherries. And then someone comes along and makes brandy out of the cherries. And then, after awhile, someone else takes the rest of the cherry brandy and makes a fruitcake with it, and after that fruitcake has been gifted to some unsuspecting acquaintance around Christmas, the first person puts a bunch of dried roses in the empty cherry brandy bottle. And after wearing it a bit, that's exactly what it smells like on my arm: dried roses in a cherry brandy vase. I'm sad that I don't love this. That leaves, what, only about 1000+ scents for me to love?

I had great expectations for this scent, and now I'm just sad that other people get woods, and lichen, and flowers, and cinnamon, and all I get from this is Wintergreen Lifesavers. I like wintergreen lifesavers....I just don't want to smell like them.
-
Frankly, I'm completely amazed by this. I really dislike floral scents in general, but this came to me as a very generous frimp in a forum purchase , and today was the first day that really felt like spring, and it just seemed like my usual dark and spicy scents weren't quite right...so I gave it a shot. And wow. How can something that's so floral (by definition, even) have none of that nasty floral smell? This smells like fresh flowers, and fruit, and growing things....Oh! It smells like those summer afternoons I spent hanging out in the Botanical Gardens! Mmmmm. So yeah. A floral for the floral-haters.

This scent totally grew on me. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Hello? Is this thing on? Seriously, though, it did! In the imp: too sweet...put off trying it for a few days, though I've been eagerly awaiting it. But the first whiff from the imp was a little off-putting. But today seemed like the right day to give it a shot... and I'm glad I did.... On my skin: wet, I totally get the decaying vegetation smell, and it's...odd, but not bad. I keep sniffing it, though I'm not sure how I feel about it. It's kind of tangy and sharp, but with a dark, dark green smell. As it starts to dry, though.....wow. Smells like lying face-down on the grass at the end of summer. I can't pick out the fig smell specifically--I'm new to all this, and I get a smell that *could* be fig (and probably is), but I'm not sure. It's sweet, but very earthy and green. This might be the non-floral sweet scent I've been looking for....but I'll need to give it another try. It has that odd, disturbing undercurrent that I could either love, or be driven insane by. Only downside: it fades *fast* on my skin (but most things do).
-
I had some seriously high hopes for this scent--and while it worried me for a minute, it's not disappointing (to say the least)! Out of the bottle, it's a little more incensy than I'd like....but with a deep undercurrent of smoke. Oh, yeah, that's a bonfire all right....mmmm, like pine boughs thrown on a revel fire in the fall. After a few minutes the incense smell got a little headachy on me--this is where the worry set in. I gave it a little time, though, and it mellowed out into a gorgeous, smoky, woodsy smell with...what is that sweet smell underneath? Yep. Witches' Night. If you've seen the witches' sabbat scene in the film Haxan--this is what that scene smelled like.
-
Oh, this is absolutely gorgeous! I ebayed a big bottle of this based on other reviews of it as "Autumn in a bottle", and I am so freaking glad I did! First sniff on my skin is pumpkin pie and fall leaves, and then it seems to deepen....dark woods on a fall night, but with just enough of the sweet pumpkin pie smell. I could live in this scent. But why is it fading so fast on me? (Well, I always do want autumn to last longer than it does...) This is exactly what Halloween smells like--in memory, at least. Perfect.
