    New Year's Eve in Dogville

I always get all excited over champagne notes, but I really don't think they like my skin. It makes it sort of hard to review the oil itself, since I think the champagne is the problem - it goes all sharp and plasticky on me, mixing poorly with the perfume-y quality. This one just doesn't work on me, but based on the scent in the vial, I can *imagine* it being festive and fun - on the right skin.

One to Tie, Two to Win

Green-o-rama, very grassy. Somehow, it manages to feel warm and sunny, rather than cool, the way greens often do to me. It's fresh and light, great for summer. It makes me feel like I should be sneezing, since cut grass does that to me, but of course, this is not the same thing. I get to smell cut grass without allergies! It doesn't have a lot of staying power and it goes just a hair soapy on me as it wears, but the wildly evocative grass scent is worth it to me, for sure.

    LaFlamme

I thought I reviewed this once, but I guess not! LaFlamme is very, very sexy. It's largely red musk on me, but with a warm, spicy brightness that really smells wonderful. I haven't had wild success with it in terms of function, but it definitely sets a mood - and I think I may need to focus my intent a bit more when I apply it. I often wear it as perfume without really focusing on the sexual aspect, but will update when I do!

    Croquet

Croquet is seriously fun. I don't always do well with the fruit-n-floral thing, but this works really nicely for me. It's happy, it's perky, it's fun! The fruit keeps it sparkley and sort of tangy, and it's quite springy. I love it!

    The Dodo

I actually really like The Dodo. It has notes that please my skin - red musk wears very well on me, and cassia = awesomeness. The fruit still comes out though, making this less sexy and more fun. I really liked it, though I need to wear it again to really get a handle on it. I will edit if on second wear, my impressions are wildly different, but I think I'll definitely be enjoying this one.

    The King of Hearts

Wet, this was very cherry! But it quickly dries to a light, lavender-spiked scent. I'd call it sort of cologne-like, vaguely masculine, but also totally suited to a woman. Okay, so in the end, it's really very much a unisex scent. But it has a classic perfumey/cologney quality to my nose - nice, fresh, groundedly floral with a hint of fruit. I can also see it being a lovely soap. Great if you like a sort of classically perfume-like scent. I'm not sure how much I care for it, but it's definitely a nice scent.

    The Knave of Hearts

I didn't smell roses in this blend at all, really. Wet, this oil smelled buttery, which freaked me out - buttery can be very bad news for me. BUT! After just a minute, the butter went away, leaving a spiced, fruity baked good. This one wears close to the skin, but it lasted all day on my wrist. I really enjoyed sniffing it all day long. This one is a winner! Lots of fun, and highly recommended if you like spicey baked scents.

    Spider

Citrusy, clean, and spicy. It has a classic cologne-y quality, but so much nicer than that. I smell like a very sexy man. I am totally in love with this scent, and I;d love to get my husband to wear it too. OMG. Sorry, I know this review lacks description and thoughtfulness, but I just can't stop sniffing.

    Grr (fizzyBOOM)

Headache relief. Sodium bicarbonate, citric acid, shea oil, coconut milk, henna leaf powder, witch hazel, eucalyptus essential oil, peppermint essential oil, Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab's Elixir blend. Wow, first to review - I don't think I've ever done this before. I used Grr when I came home from school exhausted, mildly headachey, and yeah, kinda stinky. I drew a bath, dropped that sucker in (what a plunk!) and KABOOM. Awesomeness. It smelled very uplifting and pleasant - minty, mostly, with a generally refreshing and light vibe. It was a very calm scent though, very relaxing. I got in the bath and was stunned at how *soft* the water felt - just delicious, really. I relaxed almost instantly and just lay there and absorbed the goodness. My skin felt great and my headache eased, though it has returned due to lack of timely dinner. I am completely in love with the fizzyBOOM, and I really dug this particular concoction. It was really the best bath I think I've ever had, and I'm looking forward to trying the other bombs I ordered.

    Detox (fizzyBOOM)

This one didn't agree with me as much as others, but it does the job. It's relaxing and it seems to help me get through the post-massage detox thing where I sometimes get headaches. It's not my favorite scentwise, but it does its thang.

    Bitch (fizzyBOOM)

This bomb is grood stuff, people. I felt so much better after the bath - my achey muscles had been eased, my mood had been lifted, my insane hormonal cravings temporarily quieted - aah. The only thing I regret about this bath is that I ran the water too hot and too full, so I had to get out of the bath too soon.

Miskatonic University Soap (by Silk Road Trading Company)

This was not my favorite of the BPAL soaps I've tried so far. For some reason, the soap smelled more like dusty wood to me than the irish coffee than the oil smells like. I know it's normal for an oil to smell differently in different situations, but I just don't like the scent as much in soap form. However, I still enjoyed using it. It's a creamy, luxuriant texture and feels really good on the skin. Plus, cutest wrapper ever.

Carnal Soap (by Silk Road Trading Company)

The Carnal soap is my favorite of the BPAL soaps I've tried. It's just such a great skin scent, and something about it is incredibly sexy and also comforting when used in a soap. It is subtle, but delicious. If you've ever even mildly liked fig, do try this soap. It's such a nice one!

    Fire Pig

This smelled pretty, if perfumey, in the bottle...but once applied, it almost immediately goes soapy and generic on my skin. I don't know what it was, but something in it just did not like my skin chemistry. It's definitely worth a shot if you like light, floral perfumes, though!

    Mama-Ji

Wow! Interestingly, I'd forgotten I ordered this one. I'm so glad I did! Mama-ji is a floral, but oh what a floral! It's deeply sensual, very sophisticated, and smells to me like a sort of classic perfume. It's a sweet floral with spices and something deep-dark-and-sexy about it, and it radiates when worn. Apply lightly!

    Mr. Nancy

This is beautiful when I first put it on and the lime top note comes out - it's like a grace note on the fragrance, and boy, does it ever sing! Sadly, when the lime dies down, the tobacco and rum just go completely bonkers-strong on my skin. I barely tested it - the application was very light - and yet I smelled *very very strong*. I want to like this - it's a spicey, baked, sweet scent that seems really appealing - but it just doesn't wear well on me. I'm going to try it on my husband and see if it smells as good on him as it did on me for the first few minutes.

    Ochosi

Oh, I really like this! It's just a really *pleasant* scent, very sprucey and sweetened by the shea (which sometimes smells like cocoa to me, just a touch, in this scent). This could be awesome on a guy, but it isn't exclusively masculine. I wore it to the gym and it was very energizing and pleasant even when I was all sweaty.

    Danube

This scent is very blue! I don't get that a lot, but blue it is. It's an aquatic that stays watery on my skin - usually aquatics go completely sharp and nasty, but this one stays cool and wet and blue. The florals are deeper and more...*real* than many florals I've encountered - they remind me of flowers in springtime, when you sniff them really deeply. I like this a lot.

    Inferno

Whoa holy almond and cinnamon! It's interesting how well these two scents blend, creating one spicysweet scent. As it dries, the almond calms itself a bit, and the cinnamon gets spicier. I can detect the neroli, but only lightly, and that's good - I suspect if it really comes out, the whole thing will turn too sharp. As it is, I like it quite a bit - more than I expected to, actually.

    Mania

This is awesome! It starts out kind of sharp and the grapefruit and musk are kind of smashing into each other, just like the description says. It smells good, just...chaotic and sharp. As it dries, the red musk mellows and blends with the strawberry leaf to make a sweet, comforting scent that is just absolutely beautiful on my skin. The sharpness fades, and all that is left is delicious, sweet contentedness. Very mad indeed.

    Dark Delicacies

This one is hard for me to describe. Is it perfumey? Yes, sort of - but it's so much deeper and more complex than "perfumey" implies. It's surprisingly light and wears very close to my skin once it dries down, but it's still darkly sexy. The florals are present, but never sharp or overwhelming. The patchouli works nicely, even though patchouli isn't usually my bag. The fruitiness isn't overly perky - it's lucious and sexy instead. It dries down sort of woody on me, which is interesting, but very nice. Overall, this is a very sophisticated, darkly sexy perfume.

    Ugh (fizzyBOOM)

Oh man, I thought I reviewed this puppy already, but I guess not! UGH might be my favorite of the 4 fizzyBOOMs I tried. I love it. It really does the trick, makes the water feel soft and luxurious, and smells really great, particularly in the bomb form (once dissolved, I don't smell it as much, it's just a nice light scent). It's a cleansing fragrance, sort of invigorating yet relaxing. I'm having the best baths of my life with these bombs, and I definitely need more of this one.

    Saw-Scaled Viper

I am totally, head-over-heels in love with Saw Scaled Viper. It's 100% pure awesome. It's all spice and sex, warm and strong, comfortable but definitely smoldering. It wore beautifully on me, much better than plain Snake Oil did. The spices are definitely quite present, but the spiced vanilla underneath grounds the scent and amps up the sex factor quite a bit. I'm just totally in love. If you like spice, or warm, sexy blends, DO NOT PASS GO, buy yourself a bottle of this one.

    Vasakasajja

On me, this is a very light, very pretty scent. It's pretty in a adult kind of way - pretty, not cutesy. It's definitely passionate and sexy, but in a really light, happy, *pretty* way. I wore it to work and found it to be just right. I'm not usually a florals kinda girl, but I really enjoyed this scent. It fades quickly and wears very lightly, but might be perfect in my scent locket. Very nice.

    Jólasveinar

Wet, this is a woody, spicy pine. As it warms on my skin, it blooms into a beautiful scent that makes me think of Hansel and Gretel - the forest, with a warm, sweet, spicey hit of baking. It blends into this amazing crescendo on my skin - it's truly delicious. And then the baking bit fades, leaving a scent that's mostly woodsy. I really love the dramatic stage of this, where everything comes out to play. I like it on the drydown, but I wish it stayed the way it does when it's warmed up but still wet. I may want a bottle of this anyway, though...we'll see.
